Today Show Starts "New Chapter," Kicks Megyn Kelly to the Curb

Megyn Kelly is out. And we now think we know just who is in. As previously detailed by The Hollwood Gossip and many other entertainment-related outlets, Megyn Kelly has been let go by NBC . While sources indicate that the disgraced anchor is still negotiating terms of her (HUGE!) buyout, one thing is very clear at this point: Kelly will not be seen on NBC again. This was made apparent at 9 a.m. EST on Monday when Al Roker, Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin greeted viewers during the hour that had previously been reserved for Kelly — and which had even been titled Megyn Kelly Today . Said Kotb to kick off the program: “Today, as you know, we are starting a new chapter in the third hour of our show as it evolves. “We want you to know that the entire TODAY family will continue to bring you informative and important stories, just as we always have.” From there, Kotb and company delved into details about the horrific synagogue shooting that took place in Pittsburgh on Saturday, as well as other issues of national importance According to Variety, the plan for now is to replace Kelly with a cast of NBC regulars already on staff. Savannah Guthrie, Kotb, Roker and Melvin will all appear during this third hour of programming as the head desk; although it’s unclear at this time whether they will rotate on a consistent schedule or exactly how everything will play out. NBC, after all, hasn’t had a ton of time to figure this out. It was only a few days ago that Kelly defended the use of blackface for Halloween costumes, infamously asking her round table panelists on air: What is racist? She issued an apology in writing shortly afterward and then on air the next day. “One of the great parts of sitting in this chair each day is getting to discuss different points of view,” she said last week, adding: “Sometimes I talk and sometimes I listen, and yesterday I learned. “I learned that given the history of blackface being used in awful ways by racists in this country, it is not okay for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise… “I have never been a PC kind of person but I do understand the value in being sensitive to our history, particularly on race and ethnicity. “This past year has been so painful, for many people of color the country feels so divided and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense. I believe this is a time for more understanding, more love, more sensitivity and honor and I want to be part of that. “Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too.” However, Roker and other NBC employees did not feel as if this mea culpa was sufficient. Many viewers, meanwhile, pointed to Kelly’s past of insensitive racial comments and flooded NBC executives with phone calls and emails. The network then cut bait with the high profile star it brought on not even two years ago. To much fanfare and excitement at the time. Neither Kelly nor anyone on her team has commented on the firing since it seemingly became official last Friday. Meanwhille, Today correspondent Jenna Bush Hager took over hosting duties for the third hour on Monday, approximately 20 minutes in to the brodcast, which could mean that she will also become a permanent replacement for Kelly down the road. It all remains a little bit up in the air at the moment. But one thing remains very clear: Kelly will soon be providing commentary for some kind of conservative organization, criticizing those snowflakes on the Left for being too sensitive and politically correct. Kristen Bell Condemns Snow White, Gets Torched on Twitter

Kristen Bell stars on The Good Place. It may very well be the best show on television. But the actress is currently residing in a rather bad place on Twitter, where numerous users are aghast over negative comments she made in regard to Snow White. Wait… Snow White?!? In what context? Why? Scroll down to see what Bell said and to learn how people are reacting to it: 1. What is Going on Here?!? The beloved voice of Anna in Frozen, Bell spoke to Parents Magazine for its latest issue and explained how she cherishes her ritual of reading bedtime stories with her girls, saying that she wants to “feed their brain.” Fair enough, right? 2. She Expounded as Follows: “Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, ‘Don’t you think it’s weird that Snow White didn’t ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?’ I say, ‘I would never take food from a stranger, would you?’ And my kids are like, ‘No!’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m doing something right.'” 3. Sounds Great, Right? Bell is using this fairy tale to teach her young kids, ages three and five, valuable life lessons. Is that not what they are for? 4. But This is Where Bell Gets Into Trouble… with Some She said she asks them, “Don’t you think that it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission? Because you cannot kiss someone if they’re sleeping!” 5. Did Bell Just Take the #MeToo Movement Too Far? Must we really analyze such aspects in a children’s story? Many folks on Twitter think Bell is basically being too “woke” for her own good here. 6. And James Woods is Leading the Charge View Slideshow

Megyn Kelly: Maybe I’ll Go Back to FOX Where I Was Appreciated!

Despite Megyn Kelly’s desperate attempts to stay relevant by defending Brett Kavanaugh of all people, her ratings are on death’s door. NBC wants to fire her in order to rid themselves of a $23 million headache. Apparently she’s been confiding in friends that she wants to go crawling back to FOX. Megyn Kelly is said to be the most highly paid television personality at NBC. Her catastrophic ratings during Today ‘s third hour might not warrant it, but she’s said to be pulling down about $23 million per year. But we keep hearing stories that NBC wants to fire Megyn , and apparently Megyn thinks that she knows who is responsible. RadarOnline reports that Megyn Kelly blames Savannah Guthrie for the leaks. And during the 8 hours of live coverage that NBC provided of the Kavanaugh hearings, Megyn and Savannah’s feud reached new intensity. “As the day went on,” an insider says. “Savannah and Megyn got nastier and nastier.” The source goes on to say that the two were “making little digs at each other.” “When the live broadcast ended,” the insider dishes. “The two of them exploded.” Megyn and Savannah were reportedly “accusing each other of talking over one another and interrupting.” While Megyn barely treads water in the ratings, Savannah and Hoda Kotb have skyrocketed in popularity in the wake of Lauer’s firing. Megyn is said to not really be fitting in over at NBC. Earlier this month, more than two dozen folks from NBC watched Al Roker’s Broadway debut in Waitress . Care to guess who was reportedly not invited? Because Megyn was not part of that group outing. “After the show,” an insider dished. “They all went to Butter restaurant on 45th Street with Al and his wife to celebrate.” That sounds so wonderful … for the people there. “One staff member was overheard saying, ‘This family does everything together,’” the source said. “But,” the insider editorialized. “Obviously that ‘family’ doesn’t include Megyn!” Ouch! At this point, there has to be more to it than the fact that Megyn came over from FOX, right? Maybe there’s some truth to those rumors that Megyn Kelly is a nightmare diva . She is reportedly confiding in close friends that she is in talks to leave NBC and return to FOX. “At FOX,” the insider says. “Megyn was a princess.” Of course — she’s attractive, mean, and she makes claims like “Santa Claus is white” as if Santa is a real life person and not a fictional character inspired by a long-dead Turkish man. “At NBC she feels isolated and alone,” the source continues. “She’s not happy,” the insider says. “And something has to give.” We love roasting Megyn Kelly, but here is a genuine question: has she tried … being nice? The best way to make friends is to be nice to people. Not just the people whom you want to befriend, but others. If you’re losing your mind and acting entitled with the people who handle lights and makeup, it’ll get back to Hoda and Savannah. We know that Megyn is probably still unlearning bad habits, like lying and defending terrible people, that she picked up at FOX. A lot of this world’s problems could be solved if people were kinder to one another. View Slideshow: Megyn Kelly Gets Destroyed on Twitter for Rant Against Jane Fonda

Bert and Ernie: Yup, We’re Gay!

For Bert and Ernie, it really is a sunny day. At last, the clouds that have covered up their sexuality have been swept away and they can live a life of true freedom and personal expression. Because the long-held belief by most Sesame Street viewers has finally been confirmed… … Bert and Ernie are gay. Shocking, right? Totally stunning, no? Who ever would have thought such a thing about two males who sleep in the same room, play with the same rubber ducky and seemingly cannot go anywhere or do a single thing without having the other one around. In an interview with Queerty, writer Mark Saltzman said he has often drawn upon his own experiences when telling the televised stories of Bert and Ernie. A seven-time Emmy winner, Saltzman explains that he has always imagined the puppets as a “loving couple” and that he has based his take on them on his relationship with Arnold Glassman. “I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert & Ernie, they were [gay],” he says, adding in this interview; “I didn’t have any other way to contextualize them. The other thing was, more than one person referred to Arnie & I as ‘Bert & Ernie.'” Saltzman continued with this theme as follows: “Arnie as a film editor — if you thought of Bert with a job in the world, wouldn’t that be perfect? Bert with his paper clips and organization? And I was the jokester,” he said. “So it was the Bert and Ernie relationship, and I was already with Arnie when I came to Sesame Street. “So I don’t think I’d know how else to write them, but as a loving couple. I wrote sketches … Arnie’s OCD would create friction with how chaotic I was. And that’s the Bert and Ernie dynamic.” For the record, Saltzman did not create these puppets. They made their debut on the children’s program in 1969 and Saltzman did not start writing for the series until 1985. Back in 2011, Sesame Street responded to the question of Bert and Ernie’s sexual orientation by shooting down chatter that they were hooking up . “Bert and Ernie are best friends,” Sesame Workshop said in a statement responding to a Change.org petition demanding the characters get married. It added seven years ago: “They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. “Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics, they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation.” In June of 2013, however, The New Yorker used a photo of Bert and Ernie on its cover upon reporting that the Supreme Court had shot down a couple anti-gay marriage policies. So the topic of whether Bert and Ernie were getting it on has always been a question within pop culture. That question appears to have been answered now, leaving only two more Sesame Street-related inquiries to ponder: What gender is Big Bird? And why does Bert have one giant eyebrow, while Ernie has none?

Carole Radziwill: Done with The Real Housewives of New York City!

We have another Real Housewives franchise cast shake-up. Just hours after we confirmed that Kenya Moore has left the Atlanta version of this program admist a messy contract negotiation, we can now also announce the following: Carole Radziwill is finished with Bravo as well. The 54-year-old, who not everyone realizes is an award-winning journalist and best-selling author, told People Magazine on Wednesday evening that she’s departing the cable network hit. She joined the program during Season 5. “After six seasons on Bravo’s RHONY, I have decided to return to what I do best –  journalism and producing,” Radziwill said today, adding in more detail: “I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind. “My original curiosity about reality television has waned over the years and I am focusing on TV and writing projects that better suit my more steady temperament. Radziwill came on board as a Real Housewife in 2012, along with Heather Thomson and Aviva Drescher. It may seem hard to believe now to those who follow this franchise closely, but Carole quickly became good friends with SkinnyGirl founder Bethenny Frankel in Season 8. Their friendship has soured significantly, however. Radziwill and Frankel went at it very hard , in fact, on the most recent episode of this reality smash. You can watch The Real Housewives of New York City online via the following video in order to see what transpired: Watch The Real Housewives of New York City Season 10 Episode 15 Online In her statement to People, Radziwill concluded with a combination of sincerity and humor: “I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.” For those unaware, Radziwill really does have an impressive journalistic resume. She was stationed in Iraq back in 1991 and was embedded with an infantry unit of the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan in 2003. In 2006, Radziwill signed with Glamour magazine to write a monthly column titled Lunch Date. Carole also sold her first novel, The Widow’s Guide to Sex & Dating, in a six-figure deal to Holt Publishing. It was released on February 11, 2014. For her work, Radziwill has won three Emmys and a Peabody. In the wakeof her departure, meanwhile, Radziwill left a very simple note on Instagram. It reads as follows: Radziwill’s husband Anthony, died in 1999 after a five-year battle with cancer. She’s currently in an on-again, off-again relationship with chef and filmmaker Adam Kenworthy. Edgar Hansen, Deadliest Catch Star, Confesses to Sexual Abuse of Minor

Edgar Hansen, one of the stars on the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, pleaded guilty in court late last week to the sexual abuse of a 16-year old. According to The Seattle Times, Hansen confessed to a charge of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation on Friday. In exchange for his plea, he received a 364-day suspended prison sentence and was ordered to undergo a sexual deviance evaluation. He also received two years’ probation and various fees and fines totaling $1,653, with an additional $4,800 fine suspended, court records show. Hansen will not serve any time behind bars. The 47-year old fisherman is the deck boss and key crew member of a Seattle-based crabbing boat helmed by his older brother, Sig Hansen. The siblings have risen to fame and fortune due to their popular Discovery Channel reality series. As for the details of this ugly case? A 16-year-old girl told her therapist in October of last year that Hansen sexually assaulted her at a suburban Seattle home on September 30, 2017. The aforementioned newspaper cited a probable-cause affidavit filed in Snohomish County District Court to back up this allegation. This teenager also relayed to the police these same allegations. In a brief handwritten statement accompanying his guilty plea, Hansen acknowledged “touching [the victim’s] private areas … for the purpose of my own sexual gratification.” He added: “I committed this assault… I am very sorry for that conduct and I have commenced treatment to ensure that nothing like this assault ever happens again.” The victim (unnamed because she is a minor) said Hansen “kissed her on the lips, touched her vagina and had her touch his penis,” prosecutors said in their probable cause affidavit. Investigators also spoke with Hansen’s wife, who said she “confronted him” after learning of the abuse. He “initially denied” it, but “eventually admitted that he kissed [the victim] and touched her inappropriately.” Edgar Hansen’s guilty plea comes just weeks after his famous brother, Sig, was sentenced to probation for spitting on an Uber driver last year. This Deadliest Catch caption was given a deferred sentence, ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and placed on a year of probation. Sig told People Magazine at the time that he was “terribly sorry” and “very embarrassed” for his role in this incident. Sig Hansen is also currently awaiting a decision from the state Court of Appeals over a King County judge’s ruling that would allow a sexual-abuse lawsuit brought by his estranged daughter, Melissa Eckstrom, to proceed to trial. He has denied her claims referring to Eckstrom’s law suit “an old-fashioned shakedown.” Also of note, in regard to Deadliest Catch, Blake Painter, a former captain on the show, died in May of a suspected drug overdose . Neither Hansen sibling nor any Discovery Channel representative has spoken yet on Edgar Hansen’s crime.

Wendy Williams: When Will She Return to the Air?!?

Wendy Williams has some bad news for Chris Brown: She’s returning to the small screen. Following Williams announcement that she needed to take a filming hiatus due to a diagnosis of Graves’ Disease, which apparently caused Brown to celebrate , the talk show host has now provided fans with a pair of updates: FIRST, she will sit in her purple chair again for new episode starting on March 19. SECOND, actor Jerry O’Connell will serve as the show’s guest host until then. “Jerry has been such a good friend to me and to the show,” said Williams in a statement this afternoon, adding: “We’re happy to welcome him as a guest host while I’m out getting much needed rest. Can’t wait to get back in my purple chair!” The program’s producers indicated that O’Connell will fill in for all five new installments next week, prior to Wendy’s big comeback. Said the veteran actor in a statement: “I am so excited to help out and fill in. We all know nobody can fill the purple chair like Wendy, but I am honored to sit with her co-hosts and to bring the many fans all the Hot Topics they love. “Like Wendy tells us, I am going to Say It Like I Mean It.” Oh God, no. Please, Jerry. You seem like a nice guy. Please don’t go out there and say you’re sick of the #MeToo movement or call Oprah fat or any such headline-generating nonsense. On February 21, Williams announced she would be taking some time off due to Graves disease, which is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid, in addition to other thyroid issues of which she was previously aware. “I’ll be back in two [weeks],” she half-joked at the time, adding in poor taste: “I’m not an heiress – who is going to pay my bills? Are you serious? I’m just saying, I come from working class.” Yeah. And you make seven figures a year now. Shut the heck up, Wendy. The co-presidents of the production company behind The Wendy Williams Show also released a statement. They said “our first priority is Wendy’s health and we – along with her millions of viewers – are eager to see her honest and authentically opinionated voice return to the air very soon. “While no one can duplicate what Wendy can do, we are excited to have Jerry answering Wendy’s call and revving up the audience for a week leading up to her homecoming.” Are you equally psyched to have O’Connell on board? Heck, do you wish he’d replace Williams permanently? View Slideshow: 19 Times Wendy Williams Has Totally Sucked as a Person

Brad Bufanda Commits Suicide; Veronica Mars Star Was 34

Brad Bufanda, an actor likely best known for his role on Veronica, committed suicide on Monday, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has confirmed. He was 34 years old. According to multiple sources, the tragic incident took place early in the morning on November 1. Bufanda’s body was discovered around 12:40 a.m. after he “jumped from a building,” this same spokesperson has told People Magazine, adding; “[An] autopsy is done and it has been ruled an suicide.” The cause of death, as one might sadly expect in this circumstance, was “sustained traumatic injuries.” A pedestrian walking along South Fuller Avenue reportedly came upon Bufanda and called the police. Paramedics were then dispatched to the scene, but it was too late; the actor was already dead. Bufanda had a recurring role on the first two seasons of Veronica Mars, a beloved series on The CW that starred Kristen Bell and which was eventually turned into a movie. He portrayed Felix Toombs on the dark comedy, a member of a biker gang. Bufanda had also appeared on Malcom in the Middle, CSI: Miami, and the 2004 movie A Cinderella Story. His most recent listed credit on IMDB is for a role in the upcoming movie Stan the Man. Said Bufanda’s manager Kirsten Solem in response to the awful news: “We are completely devastated for he was an extremely talented young actor and wonderful, caring human being. “He was reviving his career, having just completed two movies, and we are shocked and saddened by his passing. “The family would appreciate privacy at this difficult time.”  According to TMZ, Bufanda did leave a suicide note near the scene of his death. It is unknown at this time just what the note said. Percy Daggs III‏ and Francis Capra both starred opposite Bufanda on Veronica Mars and both are now mourning this loss. “I’m heartbroken to hear of Brad Bufanda’s passing,” wrote Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas on Twitter, adding: “He did great work on Veronica Mars. My heart goes out to his family. The actor moved to Los Angeles from Southern California to pursue a full-time film career after graduating high school in 2001. He had actually thought about pursuing a career in professional basketball until an injury ended those dreams. We send our condolences to the family members, friends and loved ones of Brad Bufanda. May he rest in peace. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2017: In Memoriam
