Kevin Spacey: Fired by Netflix!

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. And did we mention…. WOW ?!? It wasn’t very long ago that Kevin Spacey was the face of Netflix. Signing the multiple-time Oscar winner to portray Frank Underwood on House of Cards signaled to Hollywood that the streaming service was serious about becoming a player in original content. But now Netflix has severed ties with Spacey, making a stunning (albeit understandable) announcement on Friday night. “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” a spokesperson for the company said, adding of production company Media Rights Capital: “We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.” Less than a week ago, Spacey was accused by actor Anthony Rapp of sexual misconduct. The Star Trek: Discovery star said Spacey forced himself on Rapp back in 1986, when Rapp was only 14 years old. Rapp kept the incident a secret for decades, but says he was inspired to make them public now after an endless array of alleged Harvey Weinstein victims shared their story of sexual abuse at the hands of the famous movie producer. Tweeted Rapp shortly after his accusations went viral: “I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out… to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me.” In response to the allegations, Spacey acknowledged and apologized for his behavior. He also finally confirmed the rumor that he’s gay, prompting a horde of celebrities to slam Spacey for trying to distract and deflect from the charges against him by shifting the topic to his sexuality: See what we mean below: View Slideshow: Kevin Spacey: Celebrities React to Molestation Accusation Seriously, what does being gay have anything to do with sexual assault? It’s not any better if you admit you’re attracted to the gender of the person you’ve reportedly assaulted. The ramifications from this scandal simply snowballed from there: Netflix announced House of Cards would end after Season 6. It then suspended filming on Season 6. Spacey then said he was checking into treatment, although he didn’t specify for what reason. Then, many more House of Cards staff members a ccused Spacey of acting inappropriately , saying he created a toxic environment on the show’s set. It was this final bombshell that prompted Media Rights Capital to release the following statement: “While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey’s behavior on the set of House of Cards, he has been suspended, effective immediately. “MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus.” It’s unclear where House of Cards goes from here. There’s been chatter that it may kill off Spacey’s Frank Underwood and turn the drama over to Robin Wright’s Clare. This wouldn’t be SO far-fetched, considering Underwood resigned as President on the show to conclude last season and Clare was sworn in as his replacement. However, the series has already filmed two Season 6 episodes… with Spacey. We can’t say for certain what will happen with the series, but we can say we’re stunned by how quickly events have unfolded in this real-life drama. We’ll keep readers apprised as more news breaks.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Finale Photos: Where’s Daenerys?!

We've known for quite some time that the final two seasons of Game of Thrones would be truncated affairs, but still, we can't help feeling that the show's seventh season finale is upon us far too soon. Fewer episodes has meant a faster pace, which – though fun in some cases – has resulted in some pretty glaring inconsistencies in others. (Based on travel times, Westeros is now apparently the size of Providence, Rhode Island.) Fortunately, the show is in a position to deliver its most explosive season finale to date, which should help placate fans who are feeling slighted. Check out the first photos from “The Wolf and the Dragon” below, and watch Game of Thrones online at TV Fanatic to get caught up in time for Sunday night's installment. 1. Tyrion and Jon Look Concerned Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow look worried. Maybe, like everyone else, they’re wondering why the hell the Khaleesi isn’t in any of this week’s promotional photos. 2. Sansa Looks Pissed Which has pretty much been her default state all season. Living with a sister who might want you dead can have that effect. 3. Littlefinger Looks Smug He’s probably the reason Sansa looks so pissed. The man has many talents, and irritating the hell out of everyone is certainly one of them. 4. Bran Sees Things We’re kind of surprised Team Stark has put Bran to better use this season. Seems like an all-knowing oracle would be a good thing to have around. 5. Cersei Is Pregnant And yes, she’ll continue to use that fact to her strategic advantage. She didn’t get to a spot on the Iron Throne by being soft. 6. Theon is Somehow Still Alive If you can call that living. Anyone else involuntarily shudder whenever this poor bastard’s onscreen? View Slideshow

Melissa Rauch: Big Bang Theory Star Opens Up About Miscarriage

In a moving essay published by Glamour today, Big Bang Theory actress Melissa Rauch both announced that she is pregnant and revealed that she suffered a miscarriage. In the candid piece, the 37-year states that she is overjoyed by the prospect of becoming a mom, but continues to struggle with the fear of losing another pregnancy. “Here is the only statement regarding my pregnancy that doesn’t make me feel like a complete fraud: “Melissa is expecting her first child,” Rauch writes. “She is extremely overjoyed, but if she’s being honest, due to the fact that she had a miscarriage the last time she was pregnant, she’s pretty much terrified at the moment that it will happen again.” The actress adds: “She feels weird even announcing this at all, and would rather wait until her child heads off to college to tell anyone, but she figures she should probably share this news before someone sees her waddling around with her mid-section protruding and announces it first.” With humor and admirable frankness, Rauch went on to write that she was filled with conflicting emotions in the months following her first pregnancy, often experiencing pangs of grief when friends would announce that they were starting families. “It’s not that I wasn’t happy for these people, but I would think, ‘Why are these shiny, carefree, fertile women so easily able to do what I cannot?'” She adds: “And then I’d immediately feel guilt and shame for harboring that jealousy—one might call this “the circle of strife.” (A song I imagine is somewhere deep in the extended director’s cut of The Lion King.)” Rauch opens up about the ways in which the loss of an uborn child is unique and requires a unique kind of mourning: “What I realized, though, is that because this kind of loss is not openly talked about nearly as much as it should be, there really is no template for how to process these emotions,” she writes. “You’re not necessarily going to a funeral or taking time off from work to mourn, but that doesn’t change the fact that something precious has been unexpectedly taken from your life.” Rauch concludes the essay with a message of support to other women have endured what she’s endured: “So, to all the women out there who are dealing with fertility issues, have gone through a miscarriage or are going through the pain of it currently, allow me to leave you with this message: You are not alone. And, it is perfectly OK to not be OK right now.” Important words from a strong woman. Read Rauch’s entire essay here . And as always, you can watch The Big Bang Theory online anytime at TV Fanatic. Adam West Dies; TV’s Batman Was 88

Adam West, who became a TV legend as the star of the 1960s Batman  series, has passed away at the age of 88. The sad news of West’s death was confirmed this morning in a statement from the actor’s representatives. West reportedly passed peacefully in his sleep following a short battle with Leukemia, according to multiple reports. His family said in statement issued moments ago: “Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans’ lives.” “He was and always will be our hero.” West’s depiction of both Batman and his alter-ego Bruce Wayne helped him achieve instant fame with the show’s debut in 1966. However, as is often the case with such stardom, he would later find himself constrained and typecast by the iconic role. The show’s candy-colored graphics and campy storylines made it synonymous with a particularly dated brand of ’60s kitsch. It was a tone from which West struggled to separate himself, but he would find the greatest success of his later years by embracing it. Relishing his role as the clown prince of a bygone era, he demonstrated a self-referential and self-deprecating sense of humor few actors are capable of,  West turned in memorably tongue-in-cheek performances as various versions of himself on shows like The Big Bang Theory and Family Guy . In the latter, he became a beloved series regular, portraying a deranged mayor of the fictional Quahog, Rhode Island. Whose name happened to also be Adam West. West was sometimes critical of the darker version of Batman presented by directors Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan. While no doubt appreciative of the directors’ work, he said he always endeavored to find the lighter side of the Dark Knight. For decades, he had conflicting feelings toward the character that limited his career and which later made him something of a punchline. Of being embraced by many, but also looked down upon in a sense by more “serious” superhero fans, West explained: “I decided that since so many people love Batman, I might as well love it too.” “Why not? So I began to reengage myself with Batman.” “And I saw the comedy. I saw the love people had for it,” the actor said of the character and his role in its legacy. “I just embraced it.” While many actors have portrayed Batman over the years, West’s take on the iconic figure was inarguably unique. So it’s fitting that in his later years, fans embraced West as a gifted comic actor who offered a distinctive, era-defining take on one of pop culture’s most beloved, most enduring and most recognizable characters. Love Actually Sequel: What Did We Learn?

Is love, actually, still all around us? On Thursday night, NBC aired a 10-minute follow-up to the loved 2003 Christmas film, Love Actually. It was part of Red Nose Day, an annual fundraising event/telethon focused on child poverty and it updated fans of this beloved romantic comedy on the statuses of their favorite characters. This unique Love Actually mini-sequel was written and directed by Richard Curtis – and it brought back Keira Knightley, Liam Neeson, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laura Linney and Bill Nighy in their original roles. Pretty cool, right? It seems like these cast members are as attached to the original movie as the millions of fans around the globe who watch it again (and again) every year around the holidays. So… what is everyone up to all these years later? Who is married? Who is single? Who is still dancing and making inspirational speeches? Scroll down to find out! Juliet, Peter and Mark The latter is still revealing more cue cards to his best friend’s wife than he likely should, but he appears to have moved on (with a beard, no less). How does one get past Keira Knightley? By marrying supermodel Kate Moss, who appeared as herself in the role of Mark’s wife. Billy Mack The singer is still trying to create that classic Christmas song, this time coming right out and singing “Give Me All Your Money.” Sadly, he’s doing it on his own, however, because his manager, Joe (Gregor Fisher), died from a massive heart attack. In more positive news, Mack upgraded his “best shag” to a Kardashian… although he’s not sure which one. (Sorry, Britney Spears.) Rufus Still working in retail. Still taking his gift wrapping VERY seriously. Prime Minister David He’s somehow still in office and he’s also still dancing, this time to Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” after which he throws out his back. But David is still with Natalie and he still knows how to motivate a nation. “Wherever you see tragedy, you see bravery too,” he says in a climactic, meta speech, adding: “Wherever you see ordinary people in need, you see extraordinary people come to their aid. Today’s Red Nose Day and people are giving cash to people they will never meet, but whose pain and fear they feel and want to fight. So, it’s not just romantic love that is all around. “Most people still, every day, everywhere have enough love in their hearts to help human beings in trouble. “Good is going to win. I’m actually sure of it.” Jamie and Aurelia They remain together, despite a language barrier. They also share three kids and Jamie learns, via a big surprise, that a fourth child is on the way. This all leaves him typically frazzled. Sarah Things didn’t work out with Karl (we never liked him anyway), but don’t cry for Sarah. She’s apparently with Patrick Dempsey. Nice rebound! Daniel, Sam and Joanna Sam is still confiding in his stepfather and still pondering life’s biggest issues. He realizes after all this time that he’s still in love with Joanna. The two childhood crushes reconnected while Sam had been living in New York City and the beautiful songstress came all the way to London to ask Daniel’s permission to marry his stepson. AWWWW! Red Nose Actually Trailer In the end, tears are shed and laughter is shared. But while we’ll forever argue that Love Actually is the best Christmas movie in cinematic history, David actually doesn’t agree. When asked at the end of this sequel for his answer to that question, he tells a reporter: “Don’t be stupid. Everyone knows its Elf.” View Slideshow: Love Actually Cast: Where Are They Now?

Life Of Kylie: Watch the First Promo For Kylie Jenner’s New Series!

We suppose it was inevitable. By some measures, Kylie Jenner has been the most popular member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan for over a year now. She has 94 million followers on Instagram and another 20 million each on Facebook and Twitter. (The “175 million followers” claim made by her people is a bit dubious, as there's undoubtedly a great deal of overlap across platforms.) She's launched a line of wildly successful makeup products almost entirely on the strength of her name. She's emerged from the tremendous shadow cast by Kim Kardashian to join her big sister as one of the most recognizable women on the planet. In retrospect, a Kylie Jenner spinoff series was bound to happen. And now, E! has launched a full-blown media assault to hype the show's July 6 premiere. The first trailer for Life of Kylie premiered today, and it's loaded with the sort of profound insights into the human condition and nature of fame that we've come to expect from the young woman who declared 2016 the year of ” realizing stuff .” “Nobody has a perfect life,” Kylie says in her best “profound voiceover” voice. “Now I can find what really is gonna make me happy.” We hate to say it, Kylizzle, but if unimaginable wealth, the adulation of tens of millions, and never having to do any real work don't have you well on your way to happiness, you might be out of luck. “There’s an image that I have to keep up with. Then there’s me: Kylie,” she concludes. Okay, so it's not The Wire , but it's sure to give Kylie fanatics exactly what they want – a whole lot of Kylie. 13 Reasons Why: Does It Glorify Suicide?

13 Reasons Why is a breakout hit for Netflix. The streaming network never goes public with download numbers for its programs, but it came out last week that the drama has been the most Tweeted-about series of 2017. In this day and age, there’s nearly no better metric with which to measure success. But 13 Reasons Why has been making headlines ever since its March 31 release for reasons aside from hashtags and social media mentions. The series has raised numerous red flags for mental health experts, many of whom believe it sends a potentially dangerous message about teenage suicide. In short, the show centers around a high school student named Hannah. We find out almost immediately that she’s killed herself, although she still narrates the entire first season because Hannah recorded 13 tapes prior to slitting her wrists, each of which calls out certain individuals at her high school for how they treated her. And, therefore, how each contributed to her decision to take her own life. The drama (co-produced by Selena Gomez ) is meant to leave a strong impact on its viewers, touching on such topics as bullying, sexual assault and underage drinking. Netflix makes it clear, via a special message, at the outset of various episodes that the upcoming content is graphic and mature in nature. But this isn’t enough for some institutions and some doctors. A handful of middle schools and high schools have sent letters home, urging parents to not allow their children to watch 13 Reasons Why without adult supervision. “Suicide is a tough issue to talk about,” says Dr. Christina Conolly, who works for Maryland’s Montgomery County School District, where she helped write a letter that states “adolescents watching without an adult … could be at increased risk of self-harm.” Dr. Conolly doesn’t necessarily call out 13 Reasons Why for any of its storylines, simply saying in general: “Watching a suicide or knowing someone who has died by suicide can lead others to completing a suicide themselves.” The National Association of School Psychologists agrees, declaring in its own statement: “We do not recommend that vulnerable youth, especially those who have any degree of suicidal ideation, watch this series.” More specifically, some in the professional field question why the show never really brings up the topic of mental health in general, while also finding fault with the way in which it paints suicide as a form of revenge. They also have a major problem with how a guidance counselor appears to blame Hannah for having been raped by a fellow student. It’s this conversation, Hannah herself says in one of her audio tapes, that serves as the final nail in her tragic coffin. In the upstate New York community of Grand Island, school administrators warned that the series “sensationalizes suicide.” Indiana’s largest school district warned in an email that the series “does not accurately model what we would want or hope individuals do if they are struggling or in crisis.” 13 Reasons Why is based on a 2007 novel by the same name. But the TV version takes many liberties, veering far off the original script at times and expanding on many developments and character arcs. Gomez, who has talked openly about her own emotional struggles over the years, said she was braced for a backlash upon agreeing to produce the drama. “It’s going to come no matter what. It’s not an easy subject to talk about. But I’m very fortunate with how it’s doing,” she has said. Brian Yorkey, who won a Tony Award and a Pulitzer Prize for the musical Next to Normal, was one of the main writers on 13 Reasons Why. He disagrees with the critics who think the show paints suicide in any sort of positive or glamorous light.  “Many people are accusing the show of glamorizing suicide and I feel strongly – and I think everyone who made the show – feel very strongly that we did the exact opposite,” he says, adding: What we did was portray suicide and we portrayed it as very ugly and very damaging.” View Slideshow: 21 Stars Who Committed Suicide According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, suicide is the second-leading cause of death among American teens between the ages of 15 to 19. It’s a real issue, one that those behind 13 Reasons Why say they have taken as seriously as possible. Asked about troubled teens and their possible response to what they see on screen, including a graphic depiction of Hannah killing herself, Gomez says: “They have to see something that’s going to shake them. This show is as real as it can possibly get.”
