What’s more…the premiere episode of season 8 didn’t disappoint. Where do we begin? Daenerys and Jon Snow are all coupled up and unaware that they’re blood relatives… that is until they make their way back to the North, where Jon reunites with his sisters Sansa and Arya, brother Bran, and best friend Sam Tarly. P residential candidate Beto O’Rourke appears to have gotten a free pass from Washington after unequivocally calling Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “racist.” The reaction to O’Rourke’s words — there wasn’t one — stood in stark contrast to the bipartisan response to Minnesota’s freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar for her remarks about an influential pro-Israel lobby group in Washington. The silence from “ many sides ” highlighted the clear double standard and hypocrisy when it comes to who utters criticism of Israel. The silence out of Washington—from Democrats and Republicans—was deafening compared to the sparks that flew against Omar, one of two Muslim congresswomen elected in November. The congresswoman was ultimately forced to apologize, saying that her intention was never to offend “my constituents or Jewish Americans as a whole. . . . This is why I unequivocally apologize.” That, however, failed to quiet the storm. Many Democrats and Republicans were still angry, with some calling her anti-Semitic and demanding her resignation . President Trump described Omar’s apology as “lame.” A second round of outrage against Omar erupted from comments she made at a “progressive town hall” event in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 27. “I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country,” Omar said at the event, supposedly referring to Israel. That remark was met with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders drafting a resolution clearly directed at and prompted by Omar though not naming her specifically. The House passed the resolution that broadly condemned hate and intolerance. Sophie caught the most attention when she mentioned men and women, and how her attraction is based upon the soul, not a person’s gender. Appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone , Sophie Turner is making headlines over her statements about attraction and gender. “Everyone experiments,” Sophie observes. She characterizes that “It’s part of growing up.” With respect to her own personal history, she explains why gender has never been a barrier for her, but a detail. “I love a soul,” Sophie reveals. “Not a gender.” Sophie also spoke about how her friendship with her castmate, Maisie Williams, blossomed. She says that it all started when the two of them sat down for a chemistry read, way back in 2009. “We were pretty much best friends from that second on,” Sophie shares. The two play sisters, Sansa and Arya Stark, on Game of Thrones . Interestingly, both have gone on to play mutants in X-Men films. Sophie of course is a young Jean Grey, while Maisie plays Rahne Sinclair in New Mutants … whenever that actually gets released. But she says that she didn’t always expect to end up with him — or with anyone. Sophie admits that she was “fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life.” Plenty of people are very happily single for life, but that, she learned, was not her destiny. “I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know,” Sophie explains. Source: Scott Olson / Getty Spokesperson Claims Some Info Leaked To The Press Was “Not Factually Accurate” The always questionable Chicago Police Department is in the hot seat now that they’ve launched an internal investigation surrounding leaks in the Jussie Smollett case. Anthony Guglielmi , a spokesman for the CPD, confirmed with ABC News that the probe was launched last month “during the interrogation of the brothers when information leaked out,” referring to the two Osundairo brothers who investigators claim staged Smollet’s hate crime attack in January. Investigators are trying to determine who anonymously leaked important info about the case to the press. “I will also add that there were several agencies briefed with information during that time and some of the information that went out was not factually accurate,” Guglielmi told ABC News on Thursday. “These types of investigations are fairly common so that we can determine if we have any integrity issues for future cases.” In February, the CPD accused Jussie of staging his attack because he was “dissatisfied with his salary.” He now faces one count of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report which could carry a three years in prison sentence plus fines.
