You think navigating a press junket after a personal controversy goes public is potentially awkward? Try braving throngs of journalists clamoring for an answer to The Twilight Saga ‘s curious “imprinting” storyline , as Taylor Lautner did today when the franchise-ending Breaking Dawn Part II press tour kicked off. For the record, both parties in the reportedly reunited Robsten supercouple acquitted themselves ably and congenially in back-to-back press conferences as they discussed their four-year journey with the vampire franchise. [ Mild spoilers follow, if you haven’t read the books .] But Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson aren’t the only Twilight kids who’ve matured in the interim as the worldwide phenomenon has turned them and their cast mates into global megastars. Twenty-year-old Lautner came off with charisma even as he broached the subject of his character’s eyebrow-raising onscreen soul mate attachment to a child in Breaking Dawn . “It’s a fine line, and I was worried about it,” Lautner admitted of Jacob Black’s supernatural, (platonic — for now) love at first sight connection to the half-human, half-vampire offspring of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. (By comparison, Edward’s a century older than Bella, so in the grand scheme of things it’s not that bad…) Played by 9-year-old Mackenzie Foy, Renesmee grows from infant to school-age girl in a superhuman span of time — and as in the books, Jacob is compelled by his Quileute legacy to instantly “imprint,” or attach, himself to her side in a manner that eventually will take on romantic undertones. Understandably he had concerns, so he went to the source for advice: Stephenie Meyer. “There was nobody better to ask about it than her,” Lautner said. “And she basically told me, ‘Stop overcomplicating it. Think here and now, that’s all you really have to focus on.’” “It’s simple — she said it’s a lifelong bond between two people and that’s it,” he continued. “At this point the girl’s like, what, ten years old? So it’s more of a protective thing, like a brother-sister. That’s really all it is. I couldn’t allow myself to think ahead and go beyond that, so that’s kind of the zone I had to stay in.” The weirdness of the Jacob-Renesmee bond is not lost on Jacob in the film, who encounters a furious Bella when she awakens from human death to find her best friend has imprinted on her newborn baby. But Lautner’s Jacob finds himself in a more than few awkward situations in Breaking Dawn . Another scene found Lautner stripping down in front of Billy Burke’s Charlie in one of the surprisingly comical moments sprinkled throughout the film. “It actually was pretty funny in person,” Lautner laughed. “I love Billy Burke to death and he’s one of the coolest people alive, so it was a little uncomfortable for me — it’s always uncomfortable when I have to take my shirt off or something because I’m always the only one doing it!” “The weather conditions we film in, and everybody’s bundled up in like seven layers and I’m the only one in jean shorts… that was a new one,” he said. “I think the pants came off in that one too. But it was a funny, funny scene. I was so nervous to film it because it was written so hilariously and I wanted it to come across that way and I hope it does, but it was a blast to shoot.” Stay tuned for more on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. II , which hits theaters November 16. Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Kristen Stewart gave her first farewell comments to Twilight and her character Bella in Tokyo ahead of the super-popular franchise’s final installment, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 , which opens in November. She said parting with Twilight is hard, but Bella, Robert Pattinson ‘s Edward and Taylor Lautner ‘s Jacob have been able to get “everything.” “I’m definitely not excited for it to be over,” Stewart said at a recent press conference in Japan as quoted by Access Hollywood. “But, now that the whole story is told and everything is done and we don’t have those big moments weighing on us [and now] that Bella can finally have everything that she wants, I can’t wait for everyone to feel that as well.” Stewart said the love triangle between Bella, Robert Pattinson’s Edward and Lautner’s Jacob carried the story in the earlier installments of Twilight carried the story, but her marriage and subsequent conversion to vampirism ushered in a new relationship. “The whole love triangle thing — she needs Jacob in her life, he needs her in the same way, it’s not like [an] unbalanced thing,” noted Stewart. “I think that they really offer each other so much and if you can get past conventions and what everyone else is thinking, and have what you want, then you’re gonna be a much happier person…. They really do get to a point where they get to have everything and it’s nice.” Down in Australia promoting the film, Pattinson said recently that Stewart’s entree as a vampire had been quite an experience for the actress, and unlike others who had been playing parts of the undead in other installments. “Yeah, she was really excited about being a vampire. Everybody else who’d been pretty consistently in the movies, they’d obviously been playing a vampire like every day for ages. And so it’s funny seeing someone suddenly come into it and try and figure out their own version of the physicality and the mentality of it. But her character has a different thing, because she’s supposed to find it really easy. It’s supposed to be a natural progression for her to become a vampire, it’s supposed to be simple. So I guess it was kind of different.” “I think it represents a stage of life that is so full and it’s so full of feeling and I think that it really attracts people that have faith in those feelings and it doesn’t discredit them,” added Stewart. “I think it’s fairly rare to have a story that really gives a lot of credit to young girls that haven’t figured it all out yet, but are incredibly trusting of themselves. I think that a really good, hard-hitting, fundamentally charged love story is always gonna — I don’t know – it’s always going to fuel something inside of us.” The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens November 16th. In just a couple years, thanks to a certain enormous movie franchise, Ashley Greene has become a household name. But the Twilight Saga beauty – who is locked in a VERY close Who Would You Rather with Olivia Wilde – makes it very clear in the November issue of Marie Claire : she is NOT a changed young woman. “It was a hard adjustment going from zero to 100 in a day,” Greene tells the magazine. “But it was also hard to talk to [friends], because you don’t want to be a jerk. “After the movie came out, some people said, ‘You changed.’ And I said, ‘I haven’t changed, dude. Your opinion of me has changed because I’m working on this film.’ Trust me, my parents would let me know.” Among other topics touched on? The difficulty with dating and the awesomeness of flying first class: Why she can’t find a man : “I’m always here and there – everyone in my industry is – and that’s why a lot of relationships are fleeting. I’ve gotten very good at detaching whenever I have to go away for three months, which I realize is hard on friends and kind of selfish. You go on a couple of dates, and then someone ships off to do a movie. It’s not like you’re going to fly out and see them, because it’s not serious enough for that.” Why Twilight has “ruined” her : “When this is all over, flying internationally is going to be very hard for me. It is just not worth it to buy a first-class ticket, because of the cost. I’m lucky because my dad taught me to be frugal and save. And that’s important because I want to know that I don’t have to take an acting job for two or three years if I don’t want to and that I’ll still be able to make my house and car payments and buy food for my dogs.”

Kelly Clarkson went Gaga during a concert in Houston on Friday night. Lady Gaga, that is! The singer took her incredible act to her home state of Texas over the weekend and continued to honor fan requests, as she’s done so all summer long at stops in Illinois (” Cry Me a River “) and Virgina (” No Scrubs “). This time, the evening’s cover focused on the music world’s most eccentric Twitter user, with Clarkson risking the wrath of 25 million Little Monsters. Did she deserve their admiration or their ire following a version of “You and I?” Decide for yourself now:
