In a series of tweets the So So Def Records star revealed he had a serious problem when it came to prescription-strength cough syrup. Apparently Shad was pouring up heavy about 10 years ago and it almost cost him his life. “To the youth- Stop with these dumb ass drugs. Im going to let something out. Source: Bryan Bedder / Getty Celebrity women like Serena Williams, Beyonce, Chrissy Teigen, Cardi B and Tia Mowry are finally keeping it real about how hard pregnancy and postpartum life can be for a lot of women. Imagine being in control of yourself your entire life then suddenly, nothing is how you had expected. You don’t feel like yourself or think like yourself. It’s like an out-of-body experience. Add the fact that you are responsible for another little life, and that is a recipe for a breakdown. Why didn’t our mother’s warn us? I identify with Serena Williams the most because she has always been a friend in my head plus, I’m also an athlete. I ran track as a child, grew up dancing with a performance troupe, danced all the way to adulthood, and also picked up pole dancing and aerial hoop habits. It’s obviously not tennis and I’m definitely no Serena Williams, but I was fit and dexterous before pregnancy, and I thought bouncing back would be a breeze because I had a smooth pregnancy through which I still worked out without complications. I seriously thought I’d be able to get back to my regularly scheduled program in terms of work, my body bouncing back, and balancing the new life I was responsible for with everything else in 6-weeks post birth because I was good at planning and executing my goals. It worked with my career and it worked with my hobbies, so why not my life as a working mom? That was extremely naive, but in a world where overachieving is the thing to do to the point where we sometimes get unrealistic and don’t allow room for going with the flow, I just didn’t create space in my brain for anything less than optimal results right away. My ego was dealt a devastating blow after attempting to work out following my 6-week doctor clearance was struggle city. My abdomen still felt like jelly and my joints were freakishly unstable. How could I not do my usual HIIT workout? It was all I knew. What about muscle memory? How could my body betray me like this? But it did and I was furious. I couldn’t resume working out the way I wanted to and developed back pain serious enough to have to visit a chiropractor multiple times. I was forced to take my time easing back into it, which was depressing. I started with lightweight workouts geared toward postpartum women , but it wasn’t until 6 months postpartum that I finally felt comfortable enough to get back into the dance classes, pilates, and HIIT that I loved and I still had to modify certain moves at times. In addition to all of the above, I still had career goals that I planned to accomplish but it took me months to mentally get back into a space where I wanted to think about work, and actually figured out a new rhythm with my baby. I’m two years postpartum, and while I am psychologically okay most of the time, my body is just now starting to feel like it can do the things that it used to. I’m at 90% and I don’t know that the extra 10% will ever come. I’m still getting used to my new normal. I still feel guilty about having ambitions outside of family, but at the same time, while I love my daughter, I understand that I also need to cultivate my career and personal interests in order to feel sane. In hindsight, I beat myself up for things I couldn’t control during a time when it’s important to take it easy. Sure, women have been having babies since forever, which is why people downplay the severity of giving birth and take the healing process for granted, but it’s always a big deal. Your body has gone through a major shift that can be traumatic in some cases (broken pelvis, weak pelvic floor, etc), and healing time varies. A lot of us try to do the most too fast like it’s a competition to see who can bounce back the fastest and we really just need to sit down, relax and nourish our bodies and spirits as much as we can because anything else does more harm than good. Postpartum life has a way of humbling you and Serena Williams is proof. We noticed that she hadn’t been playing tennis as fiercely as we knew she could and she eventually pulled out of the Rogers Cup, which wasn’t a surprise. If you read her now blown up Instagram post about how she has been feeling, then you understand what she’s going through. It’s hard for ambitious moms to take a break, but what matters most is that she listened to her body, her intuition, and her mom tribe, and did what was best for herself and family. She’ll be back when she’s really ready and there’s no time that anyone can put on it. The body knows and communicates what it needs, and patience is all that is necessary. A rare sect of women may actually be able to get back to business in a week or two, some women have no choice but to jump back into the fray immediately (because maternity leave in the United States is trash), but most women aren’t ready to resume daily activities and unfortunately, that’s something that we don’t talk about enough or lie about too often. It’s okay to not feel okay as long as you’re working toward healing (I still need to take my own advice on that) and it’s okay if it doesn’t happen right away. Everyone’s postpartum journey is different, but it’s time for all of us overachievers to surrender to the process as individuals and stop trying to live up to ridiculous standards. He’s here, folks! Yes, we wrote HE . A day after Chip Gaines announced to the world that his wife had given birth to the beloved couple’s fifth child, his wife Joanna jumped on Twitter to provide a few key updates about this bundle of joy. First, see the above pronoun: the HGTV stars are now parents to a little boy. Second, Joanna revealed the boy’s name in her first Twitter post since this miraculous development. “Our baby boy, Crew Gaines, is here & we couldn’t be more in love,” she wrote, expounding as follows: “He made an unexpected (and speedy) entrance into the world two and a half weeks early – which is fitting given he was a sweet surprise from day one. “Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. We are so grateful.” We’re glad everyone is doing okay after such an early birth. And we’re glad to have a few photos from the big day, starting with this look at the newborn: “And then there were 5,” Chip had written on Saturday in regard to this news, adding on Twitter: “The Gaines crew is now 1 stronger! 10 beautiful toes and 10 beautiful fingers all accounted for, and big momma is doing great!” Joanna, meanwhile, shared numerous images from the day Crew entered the world, joining siblings Emmie Kay, 8, Duke, 9, Ella, 11, and Drake, 13 in the process. She labeled this one her “favorite.” One of my favorite pics a friend showed me after Crew was born. They couldn’t wait to meet their new baby brother , said Joanna of this sweet snapshot. Chip and Joanna confirmed late last year that Season 5 of Fixer Upper would be the show’s last . A few weeks later, they helped explain why by sharing Joanna’s pregnancy with their followers. Ever since, the reality stars have kept social media followers well apprised of her baby bump status and their journey in general. That clearly won’t be changing any time soon, as Joanna also posted the following beautiful image of her and Chip in the hospital: “CONGRATS 2 u and Chips & the other 4 kiddos—May “CREATOR”–GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALLL IN THE PALM OF “HIS” LOVING ARMS!! BLSSINGS My favorite fixer-upper!!” wrote one Twitter in response to Joanna’s photographic update. “Now THAT is too dang adorable and precious,” added another. Joanna works as a home designer and Chip a home renovator, but the former is also an author and the couple also owns a restaurant and has its hand in other business ventures related to these industries. They’ve grown in fame due mostly to their humor and chemistry as a couple. To conclude her update, Joanna published this picture down below. It pretty much says it all, doesn’t it? Crew is the couple’s first son who hasn’t been given a name that starts with the letter D. We don’t know why they broke from tradition, but they must have been thinking differently overall in this case. Only 339 boys in the entire United States were named Crew last year. They rose to fame on YouTube. They expressed their love and affection for each other on YouTube. So it's only appropriate that Liza Koshy and David Dobrik have now broken up on YouTube as well. In a six-minute video that featured a few attempts at humor and a great number of tears being shed, the Internet stars talked openly about the end of their romance. (Which actually took place six months ago, but which they only chose to share with their fans now.) Based on the footage below, it sounds as if Koshy is the one who chose to split from Dobrik, as she acknowledged she's been going through a “rough” patch in life. “Liza broke up with me because she felt like we’ve been distant because we’ve been so busy,” Dobrik said, adding; “As much as I hate to admit it, I was feeling it on my side too, but I just don’t have the balls to pull the trigger on that.” Koshy rose to prominence online by posting comedy videos on Vine in 2013, prior to going on to become a huge YouTube star on her two YouTube channels, as well as a television presenter and actor. Dobrik, meanwhile, took a similar path to fame via Vine and YouTube, where he also has two channels. Between the two of them, Koshy and Dobrik have more than 20 million followers. Yes… 20 MILLION ! They started dating back in 2015. Together as a couple, Liza and David let fans in on their funny adventures comedic bits/skits, helping Web users feel as if they really knew the pair well. Hence the viral sadness that has accompanied this split. “This is going to sound so lame but I really want to spread love but I have to have it first,” Koshy says at one point. “It’s like saying you’re going to spread mayonnaise when you only have mustard.” For the duration of the video, the stars tried to keep things light, but they kept breaking down once reality set in. “All jokes aside,” Dobrik said. “We are broken up.” And followers are NOT taking it well. To wit: So go grab yourself a box of Kleenezx and click PLAY on the video below. It will be sad, but worthwhile.
Derick Dillard is celebrating what he believes to be a victory for religious freedom. And what others believe to be another example of persecution against the LGBT community. On Monday the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who had refused to create a wedding cake for a gay couple. By a 7-2 margin, the Justices sided with Jack Phillips, who argued that his religious objection to same-sex marriage provided him with the First Amendment right to turn down the request of these patrons. However, rather than determine whether religious artisans and businesses have a right to discriminate based on their beliefs, Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote a majority opinion that focused SOLELY on the case at hand. He specifically stated that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission had not treated the baker fairly because various commissioners had made disparaging remarks about his religious beliefs. In other words: Phillips was actually discriminated against by a board that proved to be hostile toward religion. This may not be the case if another baker refuses another gay couple and the debate once again finds its way to the Supreme Court. But this was a nuanced point very much lost on Dillard. “Today’s 7-2 Supreme Court decision is a huge victory for religious freedom,” he Tweeted last night, adding: “Government cannot and should not discriminate against religious faith; it is a constitutional right.” Again: this is not what the Supreme Court just decided. But whatever. The more relevant celebrity gossip fact here is how this message is yet another instance of Dillard slamming the gay and trans community. In May, Dillard said trandgender individuals are mentally ill . Last August, Dillard said the entire concept of transgender is a myth , Tweeting in regard to the reality show I Am Jazz , which chronicles the life of a transgender teenager: “What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.” Dillard eventually got fired by TLC for these kinds of controversial comments. He also got destroyed by a distant cousin named John Andrew Studdard. “Derick needs to keep his mouth shut,” this astute person recently said , adding: “We don’t have to agree with someone’s life, but don’t speak out publically when you know you’re already disliked by half of America. As a public figure, he should stop being so harsh.” As a human being, he should stop being so hars. But this is still a pretty solid statement. For what it’s worth, Justice Kennedy explained that this Colorado baker case was not mean to set national policy or a national agenda when it comes to the topic of religious freedom or gay rights. “The outcome of cases like this in other circumstances must await further elaboration in the courts,” he wrote, elaborating as follows: “All in the context of recognizing that these disputes must be resolved with tolerance, without undue disrespect to sincere religious beliefs, and without subjecting gay persons to indignities when they seek goods and services in an open market.” Hear that, Derick?!? Sigh. Why do we feel as if you definitely did not? View Slideshow: Duggar Family Courtship Application: Revealed! Bizarre! 423 Questions Long!!
Source: Barbershop: The Next Cut Neighborhood Tour Chicago Screening and Red Carpet Arrivals at Kerasotes Showplace Icon in Chicago Featuring: Ice Cube Where: Chicago, Illinois, United States When: 15 Mar 2016 Credit: C.M. Wiggins/WENN.com Many people have been waiting on Drake to respond to Pusha T’s new classic diss record before declaring a winner, but Hip-Hop OG Ice Cube feels that Drake’s rap supremacy is coming to an end and not just because of the scathing diss record either. During an interview on SANACAST, Cube admitted that he felt Drake’s come to the end of his royal road. He said, “I think your reign just becomes over. I think that the audience has determined that more. You get three years of you can own the airwaves but then it’s time for somebody else. That’s just been the pattern. That was the pattern with me.” He’s not wrong. Aside from Jay-Z’s reign from the late 90’s to the mid 00’s, it’s hard to think of another rapper who had the game in a chokehold for longer than three years. And though Cube feels that Pusha might’ve gone too far in “The Story of Adidon,” he doesn’t think he himself violated anyone in his own classic diss record “No Vaseline.” “I went in but I didn’t go too far… I didn’t really speak on families and kids and mamas and daddies. I kept it personal but contained, and I didn’t start it, so…” Check out the interview below and let us know if you think Cube has a point.
