In mid-May, Johnny Depp found himself in major trouble after sneaking his two Yorkshire Terriers into Australia. Once the government learned of the dogs’ existence, they actually gave Depp a time frame during which he could evacuate the canine… or else they would be killed . Now, as a result of the same incident, Depp’s wife, Amber Heard, has actually been charged two counts of illegally importing Pistol and Boo into the country. She also faces one count of producing a false document, the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions said on Thursday. If convicted across the board, Heard faces a $75,000 fine… and 10 years in prison. Earlier this year, Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce accused Depp of smuggling the couple’s puppies aboard his private jet while filming the fifth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. (The shooting of which ought to be a crime in and of itself.) “If we start letting movie stars – even though they’ve been the sexiest man alive twice – to come into our nation (with pets), then why don’t we just break the laws for everybody?” Joyce said at the time. “It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States.” Australia has strict quarantine regulations to prevent diseases such as rabies from spreading to its shores. It’s a complicated process to bring dogs into the country, one that involves permits and quarantines, and one that Depp and Heard ignored. The actress is due in a Queensland court on September 7 to answer to this summons.

Alabama Man Dies After Cops Pepper Spray Him A Black man in Tuscaloosa, Alabama died after officers used pepper spray to subdue him when he resisted arrest, police said on Saturday. Via RawStory : Police received a call on Friday night that a man armed with a gun was sitting on a porch at an apartment complex in the city, Tuscaloosa police said in a statement on their Facebook page. Police later identified the man as Anthony Ware, a 35-year-old African-American, the Tuscaloosa News reported on its website. When officers arrived, the man ran into nearby woods and was chased by officers who used the pepper spray before placing him in handcuffs as he resisted arrest, police said. He later collapsed as he was walking out of the woods, police said. Police conduct in the United States has been under scrutiny over the past year after a series of deaths of black men in confrontations with police that have provoked protests over the treatment of minorities by law enforcement. The Tuscaloosa News reported Ware was pursued by six police officers, including at least three white officers as well as a black officer and an Asian-America officer. Police plan to release video of the arrest from a vehicle dash cam and body cameras, Tuscaloosa’s assistant police chief, Ronnie Dunn, told a news conference on Saturday, according to the Tuscaloosa News. Police said they tried to revive Ware when he collapsed and that he was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Tuscaloosa County homicide unit will investigate the death, police said. A representative from the Tuscaloosa Police Department did not return calls for further comment. Promoting Awareness | Victim Empowerment (a.k.a. PAVE), a sexual-violence awareness nonprofit, is pressuring the Obama administration to revoke Cosby’s Presidential Medal of Freedom. “The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest honor to any American civilian, and Bill Cosby’s name does not belong on it,” PAVE founder Angela Rose told Time. The medal is “presented to individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,” according to the White House. Then-president George W. Bush gave the embattled comedian the honor in 2002. The petition comes on the heels of Cosby’s recent unsealed admission to having sex with drugged women. “We cannot yet give his accusers their day in court, but we can fight back in the court of public opinion,” the petition writers urge. Although the revocation would be unprecedented (and potentially impossible, according to White House spokesperson Josh Earnest), PAVE is seeking to gather at least 100,000 signatures by August 7. At time of publication, the petition had racked up a little more than 1.3 percent of its goal. Queen Elizabeth II, the reigning monarch, has been on the job for 61 years (!) with her son, grandson and now great-grandson waiting in the wings. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have formally registered the birth of Princess Charlotte,” a rep for Kensington Palace said in a statement. “The Duke of Cambridge signed the birth register at Kensington Palace this afternoon witnessed by a Registrar from Westminster Register Office.” Available to the public, the birth registration gives details on the princess’ entrance to the world, not that any of the details were at all a mystery. This isn’t Barack Obama’s birth certificate we’re talking about here. No conspiracy theories exist regarding the royal babies … that we know of. We should Google that.
