The Dream: Domestic Violence Case Dismissed The Dream danced his way out of an NYC court late last week as the nearly year-long domestic violence case against him was dismissed altogether. The songwriter always maintained that he never laid his hands his former girlfriend, a non-US citizen, and insisted that she was just trumping up charges to gain sympathy to remain in the United States. Via NY Daily News : The-Dream, the 37-year-old music industry bigwig whose real name is Terius Nash, was charged with choking and roughing up his then-pregnant girlfriend Lydia Nam in April 2012. Nam told authorities that Nash threatened to kill her “like O.J. Simpson killed Nicole Brown” during the altercation. But Nash was cleared of charges, including felony assault and strangulation, at a brief appearance in Manhattan Criminal Court. “After a thorough investigation, we have determined that we cannot prove this case beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutor Jacqueline Cornell said. She did not elaborate on the Manhattan District Attorney’s decision. Nash, said he felt “joy” over the result and did a short dance by the elevators while sharing a light moment with his new bride, Lalonne Martinez. “God has a way,” he said. “I’m relieved, that’s all.” We bet he’s relieved! Had there been evidence to rule him guilty, he could have faced 7 years in prison.
White Atlanta Cops Kill Naked And Unarmed Black Man WTF is going on?! Via HuffingtonPost A white, Atlanta-area police officer shot dead a naked and unarmed African-American man acting erratically in his apartment complex and who was possibly suffering from a mental illness, the county police chief said. A Dekalb County police officer responded to a caller who said a man was “acting deranged, knocking on doors, and crawling around on the ground naked,” on Monday around 1 p.m. local time, county police chief Cedric Alexander told reporters. The officer encountered the man, who was not wearing any clothes, in the parking lot, Alexander said at a conference published online by local broadcaster Fox5. Alexander said the man ran at the officer, who backed up and ordered the person to stop before shooting him twice. Police did not find a weapon at the scene, he said. Monday’s shooting comes after a string of killings of unarmed black men by police in the United States. Last year, incidents in Ferguson, Missouri and New York City prompted nationwide protests, some of which turned violent. This is at least the third African-American man to be shot dead by police since last Friday, who either was or seemed unarmed. What’s the cops excuse gonna be?! The guy was pulling a gun from his azz cheeks?!? SMMFH Image via Shutterstock
Man Awarded Millions After Being Wrongfully Convicted & Contracting HIV From Prison Rape A D.C. man who was wrongfully convicted and sent to prison for 22 years over a crime he didn’t commit is finally receiving compensation for all that he has gone though as a result. via Washington Post A D.C. Superior Court judge ordered the District government Friday to pay a record $9.2 million in damages to Kirk L. Odom, 52, who was wrongfully imprisoned for more than 22 years in the rape and robbery of a woman in her Capitol Hill apartment in 1981. The amount, set by Judge Neal E. Kravitz, is the second — and largest — award in a case tried before a District judge under the District’s wrongful conviction law, which was approved in 1980. It also is one of the largest non-jury awards in an exoneration case in the United States. “Mr. Odom spent more than twenty-two years of what should have been the prime of his adult life behind bars for a crime he did not commit,” Kravitz wrote in a 37-page opinion that recounted Odom’s “profound” physical and psychological suffering over the decades that included several prison rapes, his diagnosis with HIV — the virus that causes AIDS — suicide attempts, depression and family estrangement. We’re certainly glad that this man received such a massive amount of compensation, but is there any true justice in cases like these where some has lost half of their life and had their health negatively affected for good??? Sure doesn’t seem like it.

In one of the many sketches to air last night on NBC during its Saturday Night Live 40th anniversary spectacular, Bradley Cooper kissed Betty White . Incredibly, however, this was NOT the most awkward moment to occur during the telecast. No, that honor fell instead to the time cameras caught Taylor Swift sitting alongside Sarah Palin… and looking none too thrilled about the seating arrangement. The snapshot taken above took place during an audience question and answer segment hosted by Jerry Seinfeld. Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson (not pictured) is standing behind Swift and Palin, speaking to the comedian and, to be fair, Swift is likely just watching her do so on a monitor in front of the stands. But still. She isn’t exactly doing so with a smile on her face, is she? Let’s take a look at the segment in its entirety: SNL 40th Anniversary Special – Audience Q&A Swift and Palin were just two of MANY A-Listers who attended this Saturday Night Live special. Among other memorable moments from the three and a half hours, Will Ferrell brought back his take on Alex Trebek for Celebrity Jeopardy , while Swift likely forgot all about her Palin non-interaction not long after the show ended… … because she got to sing Shake It Off with Paul McCartney at an after-party. Abraham Lincoln Click Here To Vote for Abe George Washington Click Here To Vote for G-Dubs They were both A-plus chief executives, but which U.S. President do you love more, Abraham Lincoln or George Washington? That’s what we wanna know! View Poll » George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, people. Bow down. The very first President of the United States, the General who started it all, Washington led the rebellion over Great Britain, then oversaw the birth of a nation. Sort of puts the rest of our lives in pathetic perspective. Except for Lincoln, who, four score and seven years later, delivered the Gettysburg Address, vying to preserve the union his predecessors fought valiantly for. Against similarly long odds, both leaders delivered. In their respective eras and this one, they are giants among men. Ranking their achievements and legacies is impossible … but we can at least do fashion. Vote for your favorite Presidential attire above!
