#SATQuestionsForRichKids Slams Wealthy Students & Their *Allegedly* Conniving, Scheming Parents

Continue reading here:

Source: Splash News / Splash News It seems the Internet isn’t done with Lori Loughlin , Felicity Huffman , their husbands and every other affluent parent who tried to bribe their kid’s way into college. This week, #SATQuestionsForRichKids started trending on Twitter, and the privileged and dishonest were the target. #SATQuestionsForRichKids How much would u pay to bribe ur kid's way into college? — Delete Trump's TWIT Account! (@DeleteTrumpsTW1) March 19, 2019   As a refresher… Last week, 33 affluent parents were charged by the Justice Department for participating in a conspiracy to get their kids into elite schools. Their schemes included falsifying SAT results for their kids and paying coaches “enormous sums” to accept students with limited to no athletic credentials. Lori Loughlin, who played Aunt Becky on Full House , is one of the parents busted in the case. She and her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to boost their two daughters’ chances at attending the University of Southern California. According to documents, she even arranged one of her daughters to pose in a rowing machine in order to support the false claim that she was on the L.A. Marine Club team. Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives fame and fellow actor husband William H. Macy also allegedly poured some major coins into the hands of someone who could help their kid. They allegedly paid $15,000 — disguised as a tax-deductible charitable contribution — to a foundation operated by a man named William Singer. Singer in turn allegedly arranged for a specific proctor to ensure Huffman’s daughter did well on her SATs, according to CBS News . A confidential witness told investigators that he “controlled” an SAT testing site, and he could have a proctor “secretly correct her answers” after she took the test. The witness also said he could arrange for their daughter to have extra time on the test. Prosecutors said that this was typically carried out by claiming the student had a learning disability. Both Loughlin and Huffman were charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. Twitter didn’t waste any time coming after both actresses last week , especially considering Loughlin’s wholesome image on shows like Full House.  Now, this week, it seems like all parents involved in the scheme are still on the chopping block, and their kids (whether they knew about the schemes or not) are also up for ridicule. #SATQuestionsForRichKids has definitely brought out the burner in people… Find the perimeter of the jail cell your dad, is going to be in for having people take your sat’s #SATQuestionsForRichKids — Whitney Gaspard (@honestspokengir) March 19, 2019 Hit the next pages for more hilarious questions that will either challenge or motivate the privileged rich kids of America.

Her passion for advocacy led her to run for the student body president role at her school. Her win was historic; aside from being the first African American woman to be at the helm of the student government, she is the first woman in two decades to take on the position. For Deas, it’s all about representation. She hopes that her accomplishment inspires underrepresented individuals to change the status quo and boldly step into spaces that they’ve historically been locked out of. “Being the first African American female to hold the position is awesome. You know, I love to be that representation. Being the first female in 20 years is just as great because it shows that we’re moving forward,” she said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “If you want something, you go and you do it. You try and do it. There’s nothing stopping you but yourself.” Among the top issues on Deas’ agenda is combatting homelessness amongst the student population and creating resources for individuals battling with mental illness issues. She will be inaugurated next month and is slated to step into her role in May. Black students are rising up the ranks within campus groups and making history while doing so. In 2018, Kristine E. Guillaume was appointed to lead the Harvard Crimson making her the first Black woman to become president of the publication since it launched in 1873. Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman Sued… for $500 BILLION

Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman may have to pony up a pretty penny for their alleged misdeeds. Or make that quite a few pretty pennies, according to a new lawsuit. As you have no doubt read about by now, Loughlin and Huffman are the two best known names in a college admissions bribery scandal that has produced an endless array of articles, takes, memes and schadenfreude The actress are both accused of using illegal means to get their children enrolled in college. In Huffman’s case, this supposedly translates to paying $15,000 to have her teenager’s SAT score doctored. In Loughlin’s case, this supposedly translates to paying $500,000 to have her two daughters pose for photos on rowing machines… so that they could submit applications to the University of Southern California as prospective crew members — despite not playing that sport in high school. The school then lowered its admissions standards for the girls because they were allegedly athletic recruits and… PRESTO! They were accepted as students. One of Loughlin’s daughters, a giant spoiled brat named Olivia Jade , partly used this scheme as a way to become a huge social media star. Loughlin and Huffman were just a pair of the dozens of very rich people who used their wealth and lack of a moral compass to finagle their kids’ way into universities around the country. The FBI estimates that over $25 million total was spent by these families to game the educational system. As a result, of course, Olivia Jade and all these other teens (many of whom were unaware of their parents’ despicable actions) took the place of hard-working high school students who did not cheat, lie and bribe… and therefore were NOT accepted to these same schools. And now at least one of these rejected kids, whose spot was taken by the offspring of someone arrested in this federal sting, is fight back. BIG TIME. On Wednesday, a former Oakland teacher named Jennifer Kay Toy filed a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against Huffman, Loughlin and the other individuals indicted in the scandal this week. Toy and her son, Joshua Toy, are listed as plaintiffs in the suit. A section of their lawsuit reads as follows: Joshua applied to some of the colleges where the cheating took place and did not get in. Joshua and I believed that he’d had a fair chance just like all the other applicants but did not make the cut for some undisclosed reason. I’m now outraged and hurt because I feel that my son, my only child, was denied access to a college not because he failed to work and study hard enough but because wealthy individuals felt that it was ok to lie, cheat, steal and bribe their children’s way into a good college. And here’s the kicker: Toy is seeking “no less than $500,000,000,000 in damages.” Huffman and Loughlin were both arrested this week and both have been released on bail. According to the FBI affidavit, Loughlin and her husband “agreed to a pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team—despite the fact that they did not participate in crew—thereby facilitating their admission to USC.” Huffman and her “spouse,” William H. Macy, made a purported charitable contribution of $15,000 to participate in the scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter. She “later made arrangements to pursue the scheme a second time, for her younger daughter, before deciding not to do so,” the document reads. It seems pretty evident that Toy knows all the people ensconced in this scandal are rich and she’s angling for a major settlement. To which we basically say: Go for it! Milk these entitled people for all they are worth.

Lori Loughlin Free on $1 Million Bond, Must Surrender Passport

We have an update on the Lori Loughlin college cheating scandal that continues to rock the nation. As previously reported, the actress forever known as Aunt Becky was arrested on Wednesday afternoon. She was taken into custody by FBI agents in California after returning to the United States from Vancouver, where she had been filming a television show. We can now also report that Loughlin subsequently appeared before a judge in Los Angeles, where her bail was set at $1 million, the same amount also set for her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli. Giannulli was not in court on Wednesday, but both individuals were set free after securing this amount against their home, as well as other assets. Judge Steve Kim originally said at the hearing that he wasn’t “comfortable” providing Loughlin with her passport — but then relented and set conditions for her work. For example, Loughlin may head to Vancouver to film two more projects in April and May and then to this same city in July for a series. But she must surrender her passport in December. Loughlin will also face charges in Boston Federal Court on March 29. As you’ve likely read about by now… the actress is in a boatload of trouble. Along with Felicity Huffman and 48 other, less famous men and women, Loughlin is accused of illegally funneling money to a middle man in California. This man then worked with an employee at the University of Southern California to break the law and submit Loughlin’s daughter’s as applicants for entry under false pretenses. And Loughlin’s case is especially galling. The mother of two and allegedly gave $500,000 to say her daughter Olivia Jade was part of her high school rowing team. She even had Olivia pose for photos on a rowing machine to make this fradulent argument. Using this bribery money, along with the fake picture and other phony/doctored pieces of information, Olivia was submitted to USC as a prospective athlete, which lowered her admission standards. According to the official indictment, Loughlin and her husband “agreed to pay bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team – despite the fact that they did not participate in crew – thereby facilitating their admission to USC.” On Tuesday morning, news went viral of an FBI investigation (amazingly code-named “Operation Varsity Blues”)  into a group of wealthy parents who are accused of paying between $200,000 and $6.5 million to admit their children into elite universities. Their reported schemes include everything from faking SAT and ACT scores to paying college coaches to have their children designated as athletic recruits, as is the case here. Making matters a million times worse for Loughlin? Olivia Jade is some sort of huge social media star who said on video last year that she’s only at school to party. Moreover, per TMZ, she spent Tuesday night on the yacht of the Chairman of USC’s Board of Trustees! This was after news of the scandal broke! These people are the worst! Huffman, for her part, allegedly gave $15,000 “to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her oldest daughter,” the indictment states. She was arrested on Tuesday and released on a $250,000 bond. More than four dozen people have been charged in the nationwide scam, which is alleged to have placed students in top-tier schools such as Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, the University of Southern California, UCLA and the University of Texas. Ths investigation into these sordid affairs took place over the course of about a year. Loughlin has since deleted all her social media accounts and has not yet said anything about the scandal. She really may end up in prison .

Leave Us TF Alone: Protesters March On Police Station After Colorado Cops Detain Black Man For Cleaning His Yard

Source: MediaNews Group/Boulder Daily Camera via Getty Images / Getty Protesters March On Boulder Police Dept. Over Detained Black Man Cleaning Yard We just wanna live our life, aye-aye, aye-aye, aye-aye… Last week we reported on an incident in Boulder, Colorado where police pulled their guns and detained Black Naropa University student Zayd Atkinson for…picking up trash off his lawn. Today, we get word via DailyCamera that the March for Boulder Police Oversight took place yesterday in which angry community made demands for more transparency in the department. Protesters posted up in front of the Boulder Police Department and made their voice heard. Nami Thompson, who does public policy for the Colorado Public Health Association and helped organize the march, asked attendees to email Boulder City Council and Police Chief Greg Testa with two requests: remove rifles from all police cars and allow people to submit anonymous complaints to the department. “When you’re young and you think of police, you think of justice,” Thompson said to the crowd in front of the police station. “But with Boulder police, it’s about justification.” Bars. Thompson also called to fix all the “broken” body cameras that never seen to be operating when controversial arrests or physical force is used. In addition to demanding that a civilian oversight committee be formed so that the community can police the police. Darren O’Conner, who is part of the Boulder Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP, said that police shouldn’t be policing themselves. “Internal affairs is too internal,” O’Conner said, referencing the police department that handles internal investigations into police conduct or complaints. “(…) These are friends overseeing friends.” At this point, police officers simply cannot be trusted to be honest and forthright without some serious Big Brothering.

How Ruuude: Folks Reevaluate ‘Full House’ Episodes After “Aunt Becky” Is Caught In College Bribery Scandal

See the original post here:

Source: ABC Photo Archives / Getty By now, we should’ve all learned that sitcom and T.V. legends aren’t off limits when it comes to a scandalous past. This proved to be true this week when well-known T.V. actors were charged for trying to finesse their kids into college. According to USA Today , Lori Loughlin is one person caught up in what’s being called the nation’s largest-ever college admissions bribery case prosecuted by the Justice Department. Loughlin famously played Aunt Becky in the forever-syndicated 1990s sitcom Full House . She was the love interest of the suave Uncle Jesse (played by John Stamos ), and eventually they got married and had two adorable twins in the show. Picture-perfect story right? Too bad Aunty Becky was trying to play the education system in real life. The Justice Department charged 33 affluent parents, which included television stars and CEOs, with participating in a detailed conspiracy to get their kids into elite schools. The scheme included cheating on the SAT and ACT, as well as parents paying coaches “enormous sums” to accept students who’s athletic credentials weren’t realistic. In some instances, coaches agreed to pretend that students applying to their school were highly recruited athletes, when in actuality, the student didn’t even compete in that specific sport. Along with parents, people who have been charged include two ACT and SAT exam administrators, one exam proctor and one college administrator. At the core of the case was an admissions consultant named William Rick Singer, according to federal prosecutors. They say he ran a college counseling organization called “The Key,” which accepted more than $25 million in payments from parents from 2011 to February 2019.   Singer is accused of funneling money to coaches and other education officials to guarantee students’ admission into top schools like Georgetown, Yale, Stanford, the University of Southern California and Wake Forest University. According to NBC News , Loughlin and her fashion designer husband Mossimo Giannulli agreed to pay $500,000 in bribes to boost their two daughters’ chances of getting admitted into USC, according to court papers. Loughlin even allegedly told a cooperating witness that she would arrange for one of her daughters to pose in a rowing machine in order to boost the false claim that she was the crew coxswain for the L.A. Marine Club team. Loughlin was charged with conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services fraud. Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives fame was also an actress charged in the conspiracy. She and her husband, actor William H. Macy , allegedly paid $15,000 to get one of their daughters unlimited time for her SAT exam. Huffman faces the same charges as Loughlin. Her husband, however, wasn’t charged, whereas Loghlin and her husband were both charged in the scandal. Whew! It’s a lot. And people didn’t waste time ridiculing the T.V. stars for their dishonest endeavors. Loughlin especially got a lot of heat when the Full House references came flying. Millenials Are The Loneliest Generation, According To These Studies

Source: Peathegee Inc / Getty It’s no secret that there has been a rise in mental health issues over the last 40 years. Disorders that use to plague a select few now besets an entire generation — hence the reason why Gen Y has been deemed the “anxious generation”. Older folks are quick to write millennials off as lazy and entitled, but quite the contrary. “A 2017 study found that perfectionism is more prevalent than ever. This is important to note because a lot of research connects perfectionism with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.”- The Thirty Even though we have the ability to connect with different kinds of people from all over the world at any given time, thanks to social media, millennials reportedly  feel lonelier than any other generation. “A study from the Intergenerational Foundation that compared three generations of young people, today’s millennials are unhappier and lonelier than previous generations, reporting a lower sense of wellbeing across areas including health, relationships, and finances. The quality of family relationships declined “by more than 50 percent between 2005 and 2015″, while close friendships fell by six percent.” – Bustle Research also claims that feeling lonely is as dangerous to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Socioeconomics, race and gender also play a part in experiencing loneliness in life — but for millenials as a whole, social media seems to be the biggest culprit. 77 percent of Americans reportedly have a social media account of some kind, but regardless of the platform, the effects on health are the same. “What happens many times when they log on is that you kind of activate a lot of social comparison. People don’t necessarily have to be super aware that this is occurring, but it does. You log on, you’re generally dealing with very curated content on the other side.” – Oscar Ybarra, PhD, a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan Starting your healing process and staying off social media is not as easy as some may think. Social media started out as just a leisure thing to do and now it’s involved in every aspect of our lives. So what’s a practical cure for the daunting feeling of isolation? Experts say that prioritizing social interaction and feeling connected to something or someone are major keys to healing. “Research has found that attachment to even just a place reduces loneliness. If everyone decided to remain in the same city or town for a lifetime, as people once did for centuries, we’d receive the two best remedies for loneliness — a home and a community.” – Psychology Today It’s cool to be independent and self-reliant, but the truth of the matter is that humans are social beings and we need each other. So put down the phone for a day or two or three and go talk to someone IRL.

Elly Mayday, Body-Positive Model, Dies Of Ovarian Cancer At Age 30

Model and body positive activist Elly Mayday has died at the young age of 30 , after a long battle with Ovarian cancer.  Her family announced that she passed away on March 1 through her social media accounts.  The model’s birth certificate name was Ashley Luther and she was born in Saskatchewan, Canada.  She adopted her new name, Elly Mayday, as she fought her way through the industry as one of the first curvy models, according to People .  “Ashey was a country girl at heart who had a passion for life that was undeniable,” her family wrote.  “She dreamed of making an impact on people’s lives. She achieved this through the creation of Elly Mayday which allowed her to connect with all of you. Her constant support and love from her followers held a special place in her heart.” At just 25 years old Elly began feeling sick from constant and severe lower back pain, which led to four trips to the emergency room.  Her doctors sent her away with painkillers and told her and the family she needed to lose weight.  “The doctor told me to work my core,” Mayday told People back in 2015.  “We’re undermined being younger, being women. I started to realize no one is going to help me unless I help myself.” She began pushing her doctors and asked for a CT scan, which revealed an ovarian cyst that turned out to be stage 3 ovarian cancer.  The findings were completely shocking, as that type of cancer typically occurs in post-menopausal women. After undergoing several surgeries and months of chemotherapy, the young model’s life was looking up.  Unfortunately, in 2017 her cancer returned and she spent most of the year in the hospital. Advanced-stage ovarian cancer is difficult to treat and 40-50 percent of patients who undergo chemo and enter remission will have a recurrence within three years, according to the University of New Mexico Cancer Center.  Following her diagnosis, the model began proudly posing for photos, baring the surgery scars on her abdomen for magazines and her personal social media pages. She began sharing her triumphant and difficult moments and gained a rather huge following for her honest documentation throughout her battle. Before her tragic death, Mayday wrote on Instagram that she has “always been looking for that opportunity to help people,” which she got to do through sharing her cancer journey.  “My choice to be public and try and share my strength was imminent. Helping is how I justify my time here is well spent.” “I’m lucky I have been able to combine it with the fun career of modeling, cause that’s also very me (hah no surprise),” she continued. “I appreciate everyone who lets me know I’ve made a difference, with my advice, my sharing, my photos and just my general approach to a real tough situation,” she concluded her post.  R.I.P Elly Mayday, you will be missed.  View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam
