The Memphis rapper filed a lawsuit in federal court on Wednesday, telling the Associated Press that he first thought it was cool his moves were in a video game but later felt that the company was appropriating his property. A Facebook post regarding a woman who was allegedly drugged and raped at a club in Atlanta on January 19 while onlookers watched has gone viral. The woman in the video spoke out before deleting her social media accounts. The woman, identified as Jasmine Eiland, posted a video on Monday confirming that she was okay and also addressed rumors regarding her accusations. “I’m not going to address any negativity, any opinions, none of that,” she said in the video while adding, “thanks for every text, every message, I haven’t responded to all of them.” Police are currently investigating the incident and Eiland went on to say that the man in a photo she posted on Instagram earlier was not the assailant and she revealed she did not delete the video of her alleged attack because according to the police, it would slow down their investigation. Following the video of her attack being circulated, Opera Atlanta issued a statement saying, “The disturbing matter that occurred last night has been brought to our attention, and we are working as diligently as possible in full cooperation with law enforcement.” Some artists such as EDM musician Zedd have begun a boycott of the venue.

That changed on Tuesday (Jan. 22) after the announcement for the 2019 Academy Awards, giving Lee his first Best Picture and Best Director nods. Variety reports : After more than three decades of making films that have collectively established an undeniable cultural legacy, 61-year-old auteur Spike Lee is finally an Academy Award nominee for best picture and director. It’s as noteworthy a headline as Tuesday’s Oscar nominations announcement is bound to produce. In fact, Lee’s original screenplay notice for the 1989 lightning rod “Do the Right Thing,” which will celebrate its 30th anniversary this summer, and a bid for the 1997 documentary “4 Little Girls,” remained his only Oscar nominations to date until this morning, when he picked up three for “BlacKkKlansman.” The Academy somewhat rectified the years of oversight for landmark achievements like “Malcolm X” and “25th Hour” (considered by some to be one of the very best films of its decade) with an Honorary Oscar in 2015, but Lee’s bids for directing and producing his latest are obviously a long time coming. Source: Greg Doherty / Getty Soulja Boy’s road to video game greatness has hit another snag. King Draco made the claim that his next “console” will have the addictive game Fortnite on it. The game’s developer says that is not happening. During Soulja Boy’s epic press tour where we witness the classic Breakfast Club interview and the off the rails Everyday Struggle visit, DJ Akademiks asked Big Soulja about his sketchy consoles. The “Crank That” rapper has drawn a lot of criticism for selling marked up, poorly constructed Anbernic consoles that are loaded with pirated games. Soulja has denied the accusations and thinks its just case people hating on him and explained to Akademiks that “It’s not a scam,” and “every game on there is licensed.” Despite Nintendo approaching Soulja forcing him to “boss up” and stop selling the janky video game systems, he is now claiming Fortnite will somehow be on his next console. Epic Games, however, shut that claim down immediately and states that will never happen. In a statement issued to Dual Shockers , Epic’s Senior PR Manager, Nick Chester said: “No, you can’t play Fortnite on a rooted or jailbroken device due to anti-cheat measures.” Well there you have it, Soulja Boy has yet to respond, but we expect him to do so soon. According to KCBS Radio , sources claim that Harris, 54, plans on throwing her hat in the presidential election ring, most likely announcing her bid on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a rally in her hometown of Oakland. However, one of Harris’ reps told The Hill on Thursday that no announcement is imminent and she will not be in Oakland during the holiday weekend. They are smarter than that.” “Despite a woman’s role in the world, there are still certain myths of what a woman can and cannot do,” Harris said, citing her mother. As a woman of color, Harris is no stranger to breaking the political glass ceiling in her state, which is why her mother warned her about the racial and gender stereotypes she would face. “In spite of the fact that it is the woman who is the lioness, protecting those cubs.
