8 Foods To Put You In The Mood

Visit link:

If you want to put some sizzle back into your sex life, food can help you set the mood this Valentine’s Day. There’s nothing better than a romantic, home-cooked dinner, featuring some R-rated foods to help turn up the heat. “There’s a growing body of evidence that some of the vitamins and components in foods can enhance sexual function and sexual experience,” says Jennifer R. Berman, MD, director of the Berman Women’s Wellness Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. And if you’re sporting a little extra pudge, incorporating these in-the-mood-foods into a healthy, plant-based diet is one of the best ways to help you get back to your sexy self. If you’re overweight, research shows losing just 10% of your body weight can improve the quality of your sex life, explains Martin Binks, PhD, of the Duke University Diet and Fitness Center. “We find that among overweight women, they bring their negative self-talk and body image issues to the bedroom, and it negatively impacts their sexual well-being.” Here are some of the food ingredients (and my own favorite recipes) that have been major players in aphrodisiac history and lore– and also have modern-day science to help back up their claims. [From CNN Health ] Almonds Topping my of feisty foods, almonds have long been purported to increase passion, act as a sexual stimulant, and aid with fertility. Like asparagus (another one of my favorite sexy foods), almonds are nutrient-dense and rich in several trace minerals that are important for sexual health and reproduction, such as zinc, selenium, and vitamin E. “Zinc helps enhance libido and sexual desire,” says Dr. Berman. “We don’t really understand the mechanisms behind it, but we know it works.” Avocados The Aztecs referred to avocados as, ahem, testicles, because of their physical shape. But the scientific reason why avocados make sense as an aphrodisiac is that they are rich in unsaturated fats and low in saturated fat, making them good for your heart and your arteries. Anything that keeps the heart beating strong helps keep blood flowing to all the right places; in fact, men with underlying heart disease are twice as likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). Strawberries The color red is known to help stoke the fire: A 2008 study found that men find women sexier if they’re wearing red, as opposed to “cool” colors such as blue or green. Strawberries are also an excellent source of folic acid, a B vitamin that helps ward off birth defects in women and, according to a University of California, Berkley study, may be tied to high sperm counts in men. This Valentine’s Day, try making dark chocolate-dipped strawberries. And while we’re on the subject, there’s a reason we give chocolate on Valentine’s Day: It’s full of libido-boosting methylzanthines. Seafood Despite their slippery and slimy texture, oysters may be the most well-known aphrodisiac. They’re also one of the best sources of libido-boosting zinc. But other types of seafood can also act as aphrodisiacs. Oily fish– like wild salmon and herring– contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for a healthy heart. Tom Hardy, Chris Pine Get Physical In ‘This Means War’ Clip

Reese Witherspoon tries to decide between the two secret agents in a brand-new clips. By Kevin P. Sullivan Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and Tom Hardy in “This Means War” Photo: 20th Century Fox It takes only two short clips from “This Means War” to show you exactly what kind of movie it is. On one hand you have a woman, played by Reese Witherspoon , torn between two men she genuinely likes. It’s nothing that far out of line with what you expect from your average romantic comedy. On the other hand, you have the influence of McG and two of Hollywood’s top action stars, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine , playing her love interests and secret-agent best buddies. Things, as you can imagine, get a little messy. As part of “MTV First: This Means War” , we debuted two new clips from “This Means War,” and they both give a very good taste of what’s in store in the movie that hits theaters on Valentine’s Day. The first finds Pine’s character, FDR, crashing a date between Hardy’s Tuck and Lauren, played by Witherspoon. Lauren goes to the bathroom to collect herself after the surprise encounter, while back out in the restaurant, the former best friends use every ounce of their professional training to beat the crap out of each, destroying the restaurant in the process. The other clip takes on a much more relaxed tone, showing off the lighter side of the movie. Lauren confides in her best friend, Trish, played by Chelsea Handler, and attempts to make a decision between the two suitors. Unbeknownst to her, both FDR and Tuck listen in. Michelle Williams ‘So Grateful’ For Oscar Nod

‘This role has been the challenge and privilege of a lifetime,’ the ‘My Week With Marilyn’ star says in a statement. By Jocelyn Vena Michelle Williams in “My Week With Marilyn” Photo: The Weinstein Company Michelle Williams is getting Oscar love yet again. Williams is nominated for Best Actress at the Academy Awards for “My Week With Marilyn,” facing off against screen legends and some fresh blood. “I am so grateful to be acknowledged by the Academy for my work, which was made possible by the support of our director Simon Curtis and the camaraderie of a terrific ensemble of actors — a special congratulations to [co-star] Kenneth Branagh — and the fearless Harvey Weinstein,” she said in a statement. “This role has been the challenge and privilege of a lifetime. I would like to think that the recognition our film has received by the Academy is a testament to Marilyn’s legacy.” The other nominees in her category are Glenn Close (“Albert Nobbs”), Viola Davis (“The Help”), Rooney Mara (“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) and Meryl Streep (“The Iron Lady”). Branagh, who earned a Best Supporting Actor nod for his work in “Marilyn,” was equally amped about the recognition. “It was a rare honour to play Sir Laurence Olivier,” he said in a statement. “To be recognised by the Academy for doing so is overwhelming. I’m absolutely thrilled.” Williams already won the Golden Globe for her role in the film earlier this month. This marks her third Oscar nod after previous nominations for “Blue Valentine” and “Brokeback Mountain,” though she has yet to take one home. Recently, former “Dawson’s Creek” co-star Joshua Jackson opened up about Williams’ critically lauded career . “It’s surreal, in that it would be surreal to see any of your friends [up for an Oscar]. It’s amazing. She’s an excellent actress,” he told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival . “Of all of us, when we finished that show, she was the one who had the clearest idea about what it was that she wanted to do. To be able to go out and achieve that is no small feat. I just think it’s wonderful.” See the complete list of Academy Awards Nominations . The film also stars one of Witherspoon’s real-life pals, comedian and “Chelsea Lately” host Chelsea Handler, who gives Reese’s character the terrible advice that she should continue dating both men. Oscar 2012 Predictions: Best Actress

Viola Davis, Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams should continue their streak of awards-season love at Tuesday’s announcement. By Kara Warner Michelle Williams in “My Week With Marilyn” Photo: The Weinstein Company After a fun-filled start to the 2012 awards season with the People’s Choice Awards , Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and Golden Globes , the nominations announcement for the 64th annual Academy Awards are upon us. Before Tuesday morning’s reveal, we’re making a few predictions about which lucky leading ladies will get the good news. Here are our predictions for the nominees in the Best Actress category: Viola Davis : Davis has been a shoo-in for awards-season love since early August, when audiences first experienced her critically acclaimed performance in “The Help.” Davis has already won a Critics’ Choice Movie Award and received a Globe nomination for her portrayal of sweet-natured maid Aibileen Clark; the Oscar nomination is next. Meryl Streep : At this point in her illustrious career, it’s basically a given that any year Streep makes an appearance in a film, she will be nominated. As the most-nominated actor in history, Streep has 16 Oscar nods under her belt, along with two wins, plus 26 Golden Globe nominations and eight wins — including this year’s Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. And although the reviews of her film, “The Iron Lady,” have been mixed, the praise for her performance is expectedly high. Michelle Williams : Not many of those who first met Williams via her work on teen soap “Dawson’s Creek” would have predicted that she would become one of the most talented, respected and critically acclaimed actresses of her generation, and yet, here we are. Following last year’s nominations haul for her work in “Blue Valentine,” the recent Globe winner should expect to hear her name called tomorrow. Tilda Swinton : The nominating body within the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is just as likely to recognize performances in films with mass audience appeal and success as it is to single out performers in films that push boundaries and step outside the box. Tilda Swinton is an actress who has done just that in several films, the most recent being the harrowing drama “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” for which she will surely land an Oscar nomination. Rooney Mara or Charlize Theron : Singling out a fifth nominee is a tough call given the number of strong performances by leading ladies this year. It’s a toss-up between Oscar winner Charlize Theron’s performance in the dark comedy “Young Adult” and Rooney Mara’s bold, buzz-worthy transformation into Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.” Winner : Viola Davis. The woman is due; just check out her r

Nicki Minaj Delays Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded

Young Money rapper softens the blow of sophomore album’s delay by premiering her ‘Stupid H–‘ video. By Nadeska Alexis Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images Back in November, Nicki Minaj announced that her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, would debut February 14, giving fans a little something extra to look forward to on Valentine’s Day. Now, there’s been a change of plans. Just a couple of hours after premiering the video for her latest single, “Stupid Hoe,” on Friday (January 20) Minaj announced that the album would be delayed until April. “New Album Date: April 3rd. Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED,” she wrote to her throngs of followers on Twitter . “But have no fear. Tons of surprises before then ;). Love Always, HB.” Fans weren’t thrilled to hear about the delay, but the new video for “Stupid Hoe” was enough to tide them over momentarily. In the colorful clip, directed by Hype Williams, Nicki is in full Barbie mode with bright makeup, her signature pink wig and prosthetic body parts, and she even gets a little ferocious, morphing into a caged tiger. With the sexy, bubblegum effect of the video, it’s almost easy to forget that the track throws a few harsh words at her female critics, most notably Lil’ Kim. When “Stupid Hoe” originally premiered in December, the song held the first clue that Minaj might perform at Super Bowl XLVI (“2012 I’m at the Super Bowl,” she raps), and the video confirms that suspicion. In the midst of the outrageous colors and special effects, the video cuts to a sign that reads “2012 Super Bowl,” which means the Young Money rapper will likely perform alongside headliner Madonna . After premiering the video, Minaj proceeded to retweet the overwhelmingly positive responses from her Barbz, who will likely be thrilled when she releases the album’s second video for “Roman in Moscow.” In December Minaj told MTV News that the visuals would set the stage for Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. ” ‘Roman in Moscow’ is like a teaser to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, ” Minaj said. “When I say it’s a teaser, it’s like a trailer to the movie, it’s like setting the stage, and I just wanted to touch the surface. It’s the wackest thing on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. ” Did Nicki’s new video tide you over until the release of Roman Reloaded ? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Nicki Minaj

The 5 Films Likeliest to Ignite a Sundance 2012 Bidding War

No matter how many gifting suites, D-list “celebrities” and/or head-splitting parties the malevolent forces of modern commerce may stuff into the wintry idyll of Park City over the next week, we’ll always have the movies. And as usual, “we” also means studios and distributors with money to burn and release slates to fill. Let the Sundance bidding wars begin! “This year’s Sundance Film Festival will be the biggest buyer’s market ever,” writes Steve Pond at TheWrap, and whether or not his prediction checks out, tires will be kicked and deals will be made — perhaps as soon as the credits roll on tonight’s openers The Queen of Versailles, Hello I Must Be Going , Wish You Were Here and Searching for Sugar Man . But with apologies to those films and other buzzy titles like Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer , Stephen Frears’s Lay the Favorite , Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in New York and the hip anti-rom-com Save the Date — and in grand Movieline tradition — here are five others likeliest to have buyers fanning themselves with their checkbooks. Seeing Uggie, the Artist ‘s celebrated Jack Russell terrier, onstage Sunday night at the Golden Globes might have been enough to placate some observers who’ve demonstrated an interest in the wonder dog’s awards-season recognition . But for most who’ve joined the “Consider Uggie” chorus — 6,218 fans and counting — our mission is only getting started. We’ve seen the most measurable growth at both Movieline’s “Consider Uggie” Facebook page and the Weinstein Company’s @Uggie_theArtist Twitter feed, the latter of which in particular has become a comprehensive clearing house for all the #ConsiderUggie news and developments you can stand. And I hope you can stand a lot of them, because:

Michelle Williams Calls Heath Ledger Relationship ‘Cosmic’

‘My Week With Marilyn’ actress dons lingerie, talks Ledger in GQ . By Jocelyn Vena Michelle Williams in the February 2012 issue of GQ Photo: GQ Just days after winning her first Golden Globe for portraying blond bombshell Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn,” the normally buttoned-up Michelle Williams is turning up her bombshell dial to a big “10” in the new issue of GQ. Gracing the pages in a platinum blond bob and leaving little to the imagination in lingerie, Williams opens up about her early days in Hollywood, her parents and her critically acclaimed work in “Marilyn.” And eventually, she talks about her late boyfriend Heath Ledger. “Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something,” she said when asked what attracted them to one another while they were shooting “Brokeback Mountain.” After an on-again, off-again relationship and one child together, his 2008 death became headline news, and reporters and paparazzi soon intruded on her life. “It was making me crazy. I felt like I was going crazy. It was too much — trying to deal with what had happened and trying to deal with what was at our doorstep. I just felt trapped,” she said, later referencing their daughter, Matilda. “And it’s not just me — there’s somebody else who I’m trying to protect, and I can’t. I can’t make it stop, I can’t make it go away. Trying to find ways to explain it or shield her from it. It’s like you’re trying to go about your life, and make dinner…but the roof is off of your house, and the walls are falling down.” Williams and Ledger had been estranged at the time of his death, and when asked if she wonders if they would have ended up together, she said it’s “one of my favorite things to imagine.” After he died, Williams wondered if she should work again, eventually heading back to movie sets in films like “Marilyn,” “Blue Valentine” and the in-the-works “Oz: The Great and Powerful.” On Sunday night’s Globes, Williams thanked their 6-year-old daughter for supporting her bustling acting career.
