Justin Bieber Is ‘A Two Face,’ Says Chelsea Handler

Host of the 2010 VMAs is jealous of Bieb’s flirtation with Kim Kardashian By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Jim Cantiello Chelsea Handler Photo: MTV News Though 2010 MTV Video Music Awards host Chelsea Handler likes to joke that she will have no idea who anybody is when she plays the ringmaster of the biggest party of the year on September 12, she has quite a history with a handful of the artists who will be sharing the stage with her. She says most of the hip-hop stars on the show have “slapped her ass,” and one of her more notable guests on her E! talk show “Chelsea Lately” has been with none other than Justin Bieber.

Eminem And Jay-Z Concerts: Comparing The Ballparks

How do Detroit’s Comerica Park and New York’s Yankee Stadium measure up? By James Montgomery New York’s Yankee Stadium Photo: Dave Gillum/ Diamond Images/ Getty Images On Thursday night, Eminem and Jay-Z will kick off their Home and Home concert series with a pair of shows at Detroit’s Comerica Park. Since he’s representing the home team, Em will headline both Comerica concerts, and when the series switches to New York’s Yankee Stadium on September 12-13, Jay will get top billing. Though we could spend endless hours discussing the two men who made these shows possible, it makes equally as much sense to take a look at the stadiums they’ll be playing in since, like Em and Jay themselves, they’re both icons of their respective cities. The similarities don’t stop there: Both Comerica and Yankee Stadium replaced beloved venues that played host to Major League Baseball for decades (the old Tiger Stadium — then called Navin Field — opened in 1912, and Yankee Stadium took its bow in 1923, as “The House That Ruth Built”). Both were designed by the Kansas City, Missouri, architecture firm Populous. Both have since played host to a World Series and an All-Star Game. And both go to great lengths to pay homage to their respective cities’ heritage and heroes. But those things are all mostly superficial. Because when you get down to the stats, Comerica and Yankee Stadium are about as different as two icons could be — sort of like Eminem and Jay-Z, when you think about it. So with Home and Home about to begin, here’s a look at the two places where Em and Jay will reign supreme: Comerica Park Nicknames : CoPa, Comerica, Comerica National Park (until they moved the fences in) First Opened : April 11, 2000 (the Tigers beat the Seattle Mariners 5-2) Price Tag : $300 million Capacity : 41,782 Dimensions : Left field, 345 feet; left-center, 370 feet; center field, 420 feet; right center, 365 feet; right field, 330 feet Signature Food Item : A coney dog from Leo’s (inside the stadium) or Lafayette Coney Island (outside). Also, since the Tigers are owned by Mike Ilitch — founder of Little Caesars — there is an abundance of pizza on hand too. Key Features : Comerica is certainly the only pro stadium in America to feature not only a carousel, but a Ferris wheel too. There’s also a massive beer hall, a water feature in center field that synchronizes music to spraying fountains (it’s officially called “Liquid Fireworks”), a series of six epic sculptures that pay tribute to Tigers greats Ty Cobb, Charlie Gehringer, Hank Greenberg, Willie Horton, Al Kaline and Hal Newhouser (legendary broadcaster Ernie Harwell is also memorialized with a statue), and, perhaps most notably, eight heroic statues of actual Tigers strategically placed throughout the ballpark. Previous Concert Experience : The Dave Matthews Band were the first act to play Comerica in the summer of 2000. And since then, big names like the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, KISS and Aerosmith have all done the same. Eminem actually played a concert at Comerica in 2005, too, as part of his Anger Management Tour. Yankee Stadium Nicknames : The Stadium, the Bronx Bandbox, the Launching Pad (the ball tends to fly out of the place, if you couldn’t tell) First Opened : April 2, 2009 (a team workout day for fans); first regular-season game was April 16, 2009 (the Yankees lost to the Cleveland Indians 10-2) Price Tag : Somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.5 billion, though some estimates go as high as $2.3 billion. Capacity : 52,325 (including standing room) Dimensions : Left field, 318 feet; left center, 399 feet; center field, 408 feet; right center, 385 feet; right field, 314 feet Signature Food Item : A steak sandwich from Lobel’s (if you can stand the wait), fried pickles from Brother Jimmy’s. There’s lots to eat here, though, strangely, most of the pizza is terrible. Key Features : Aside from the beyond-expensive tickets for seats in the so-called “Legend’s Suite,” probably the grandiose limestone exterior, which matches the exterior of the old Yankee Stadium, or the iconic frieze that lines the upper deck, just like it did during the Babe Ruth days. There’s also the iconic Monument Park in center field, which honors previous Yankees greats, and the massive Great Hall, which does the same. What can we say? The Yankees are big on tradition. Previous Concert Experience : None. The September 12 Home and Home show will be the first show played at the new Yankee Stadium. Share your thoughts about the ballparks in the comments below! Katy Perry, Russell Brand Hookup Detailed On ‘VMA’s Revealed’

Stars’ relationship is broken down on MTV special premiering this Saturday at 11 a.m. By Mawuse Ziegbe Katy Perry and Russell Brand Photo: Jeff Vespa/ Getty Images Lots of craziness went down onstage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards . Rappers like Lil Mama and Kanye West couldn’t resist bum-rushing the stage, Janet Jackson and Madonna contributed to an icon-heavy tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson, and when Lady Gaga wasn’t dashing in and out of elaborate getups, she was writhing onstage drizzled with blood. Unbeknownst to viewers, the backstage madness rivaled the antics that made the big show. Indeed, so much ridiculousness went down that MTV had to dish in “VMA’s Revealed,” an insider’s look at the 2009 festivities that premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. The show also turned out to be the backdrop for one of pop culture’s most high-profile pairings: Katy Perry and Russell Brand . The duo are engaged and are rumored to be hitting the altar later this year. As “Revealed” shows, hitting the VMAs last year became a fortuitous turn for both stars. Both Brand and Perry returned to the VMAs in ’09 after making an impression on viewers — and each other — the year before. They got each other’s attention in passing as rookies in 2008 — she was a first-time performer, he was making his hosting debut — but the next year they realized they had more in common than just sharing the marquee at the VMAs. “I really appreciate his sense of humor. It’s real dark, it’s real wrong and it’s really funny,” Perry says in the episode about her hubby-to-be. Brand, whose grand entrance at the 2009 event was heralded by Perry belting Queen’s “We Will Rock You” accompanied by Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, admits that he has a way with words when it comes to his pop-star love. “It seems like I can say whatever I want and sort of get away with it,” Brand cheekily observes. To find out how Perry and Brand went from ripping the VMA stage to barreling down the road toward holy matrimony, catch “VMA’s Revealed” Saturday at 11 a.m. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from now through September 12. Linkin Park Will Perform ‘The Catalyst’ At 2010 VMAs

The MTV Video Music Awards air live on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. By James Montgomery Linkin Park on the set of their “Catalyst” music video Photo: Warner Bros. Linkin Park just premiered their murky, mercurial video for “The Catalyst,” and for the second consecutive week, the song is #1 on Billboard rock songs chart, but so far, they’ve yet to perform the song live. But on September 12, at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards , that will change. Because Linkin Park have just been added to an ever-growing list of performers for the big show, and they’ll be playing “The Catalyst,” for the first time on television. “After two years of working on our new album, we’re looking forward to sharing our first live performance of new music with our fans around the world on the MTV Awards,” Chester Bennington said in a statement about the show. It’s an appropriately big stage for the song, the first single off the band’s much-anticipated new album, A Thousand Suns, which hits stores on September 14. Other confirmed performers for the 2010 VMAs include Eminem, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Paramore, Drake, B.o.B, Usher and Florence and the Machine. Travie McCoy, Jason Derulo and Robyn will also join VMA house artist deadmau5 for a series of intimate performances. Confirmed presenters for the show include Justin Timberlake, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Trey Songz. More performers and presenters will be announced in the coming days. Ke$ha Breaks Through To The Big Time: A VMA Cheat Sheet!

‘Tik Tok’ singer/nominee racked up massive digital downloads, opened for Rihanna and survived ‘SNL’ on road to Video Music Awards. By James Montgomery Ke$ha Photo: Kevin Mazur/ Getty Images She is, without question, one of the biggest breakout stars of 2010. A slurring, whirling, hard-partying pop oddity (who may also be a genius) with a #1 album and a boatload of hit singles to her name, not to mention more than a few enemies . She even has under her star-spangled belt, her very own, very public WTF debacle in the form of a rather, uh, divisive “Saturday Night Live” performance .

Robyn Is ‘Super-Duper Excited’ To Perform At VMAs

Swedish superstar will perform a ‘never-before-heard mix’ of ‘Dancing on My Own’ with VMA house artist Deadmau5. By James Montgomery Robyn Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images Somewhat lost in last week’s announcement that both Usher and Paramore will be performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was the news of who else would be joining the festivities … and no, we’re not talking about the stars of “The Social Network.” It’s Robyn, the Swedish superstar who, slowly but surely, has begun her stateside assault with a pair of highly touted pop albums ( Body Talk Part 1 and Body Talk Part 2, both released this year, with a third installment due in December), a stirring single and video ( “Hang With Me” ), and a string of sweat-drenched, sweet-and-salty live shows . And on VMA night, she’ll take another step towards mainstream success when she performs with house artist Deadmau5 during the big show. She’s just one of the artists who’ll be jamming with Deadmau5 — other confirmed acts include Travie McCoy and Jason Derulo — but she’s certainly the one with the most to prove. After all, to most VMA viewers, she’ll be the wild card, the great unknown. And, as she told MTV News, Robyn is more than honored to be performing … and definitely looking forward to the challenge. “Deadmau5 is fantastic and I’m super-duper excited to be able to perform for the VMA audience,” she said in an email. “I’m gonna be ‘dancing on my own’!” That, of course, is a reference to a (really awesome) single from the first Body Talk album — she’ll be performing “a never-before-heard mix” of it at the VMAs — and though you probably aren’t familiar just yet, we’re willing to bet that after Robyn rocks the show, that will change. Quickly. The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. ‘The Social Network’ stars Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield will present at the show on September 12. By Gil Kaufman Usher Photo: Getty Images You didn’t think MTV would have a party and not invite Usher, did you? The 2010 Video Music Awards just got bigger, with the addition of Ush to the list of performers at the September 12 show, as well as Paramore, who are slated to give a special performance during the event hosted by “Chelsea Lately” star comedian Chelsea Handler . “It is an honor to once again be a part of the MTV Video Music Awards,” said Usher in a statement announcing his first performance at the VMAs since a rain-soaked trip through “Yeah!” back in 2004 . “I can’t wait to perform for my fans all around the world who have helped to make this album a success and my being here possible. You never know what’s gonna happen on an MTV VMA stage. … I look forward to making it a night to remember.” Usher, who just this week dropped the sequel to his hit Raymond v. Raymond album, Versus, is nominated in the Best Male Video, Best Dance Music Video and Best Choreography categories for “OMG.” Paramore are nominated for Best Rock Video, and singer Hayley Williams’ “Airplanes” collaboration with B.o.B is up for Best Collaboration, Best Male Video, Best Hip-Hop Video and Video of the Year. They will join an all-star roster of performers that already includes Eminem, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, B.o.B, Drake and Florence + the Machine . In addition, house artist Deadmau5 will have plenty of help throughout the night, as he’ll be joined by Travie McCoy, Jason DeRulo and Robyn, who will perform never-before-heard mixes of their current hits. It was also announced on Thursday (August 26) that the upcoming Facebook flick “The Social Network” will be well represented by stars Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield, who were added to a list of presenters that includes Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo. Eminem To Perform at 2010 MTV VMAs

The VMA veteran returns to the stage with eight nominations from his best-selling Recovery. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage You can’t throw the year’s biggest party without inviting the artist with the best-selling album of 2010. Especially if that guy happens to be Eminem , whose history with the MTV Video Music Awards is long, legendary and full of the kind of eye-popping moments that make the VMAs the must-TiVo event of the year. Slim Shady will bless the show’s stage on September 12, where he is nominated for eight Moonmen for his smash comeback album Recovery, the best-selling non-country release of the year. Em joins an already star-packed roster of performers that includes Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B and Florence and the Machine, as well as in-house DJ Deadmau5 and host Chelsea Handler. The list of presenters already includes Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo. Over the years, Eminem has given some of the most iconic performances of the modern VMA era, none bigger than 2000’s Night of the Living Shadys. During that show, Em began his run through Video of the Year-winning hit “The Real Slim Shady” out on the streets of Manhattan, surrounded by an army of clones dressed exactly like him. The brigade then marched into Radio City Music Hall as Em finished “Shady” and then busted into a visceral “The Way I Am.” Even when he wasn’t performing on the show, Eminem — who ranks sixth on the list of all-time VMA winners — has made his presence felt over the years, as he did in 2002 with his infamous run-in with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog . Viewers can vote for general VMA categories, including Best New Artist, by visiting VMA.MTV.com . In addition, text voting for Best New Artist is open to all wireless carrier subscribers by texting BNA to 97979. Voting continues through the show, live on September 12.
