Source: Prince Williams / Getty Jim Jones caught a break in his Georgia drug and gun case . After taking a plea deal, the Dipset rapper was able to avoid jail time. Jones was facing five felonies after a car he was a passenger in allegedly was chased down by cops, with guns and drugs found in the vehicle after it was searched. Reports TMZ : According to court docs out of Coweta County, GA — where Jim was facing 5 felony counts and a misdemeanor from his June 2018 arrest — Jim was sentenced to 2 years probation and a $1,500 fine, plus minor court costs. We’re told 3 of the 6 charges were dropped, including a felony drug charge and 2 felony counts of possession of a firearm. The other 3 charges will go away if he stays out of trouble while on probation — all part of a plea deal. According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, Jim has to stay off booze and drugs for the next couple years and report to his probation officer in GA to get the remaining 3 charges dropped from his record. All things considered, he should count himself lucky. We’re willing to bet Jones stays out of trouble because those felony charges carry years in the bing. And you can’t make money while sitting in a cell. — Photo: Getty

Source: picture alliance / Getty Chicago Police Seen Punching Female High School Student The Chicago police, fresh off of the f**kery that was the Jussie Smollett case, have found themselves in the midst of yet another situation that exemplifies why people don’t trust them. According to ABC13 , a newly released video shows an incident at Marshall High School in which officers are seen punching, kicking, and dragging a 16-year-old girl, Dnigma Howardm, down a flight on stairs. On the footage you can see Dnigma talking to a friend as officers loom in the background. When the friend leaves they immediately run up on Dnigma and push her to the ground. Video from another angle shows the officers dragging Howard down the stairs, and at the bottom one officer is holding her arm while the other is holding her leg. “In the video you can see they pull her by the leg down the stairs, the whole flight of stairs,” Dnigma’s father Laurentio Howard. One cop on the video appears to both punch and kick the teenaged girl while she’s on the ground. Dnigma’s father had been called to the school to pick her up after she was kicked out of class of having her phone out. He was on hand watching Chicago police handle his daughter like this. “I’m standing downstairs by the front door and she said, ‘I’m going to get her to come downstairs. She’s going home right now,’” he said. “I couldn’t believe I seen two sworn police officers of Chicago abusing my daughter like this and I’m standing right there watching them do this and can’t do anything about it,” he recalled of the incident. Source: Raymond Boyd / Contributor / Getty Morehouse To Admit Transgender Men In 2020 The country’s only all-male historically black college made a historic move this weekend. Morehouse College told The Associated Press that their board of trustees voted Saturday to begin admitting transgender men next year. Students who identify as women but were born male cannot enroll, however and anyone who transitions from male to female will not be automatically eligible to receive a degree from the institution. “I think Morehouse having the courage to speak to issues of masculinity in today’s environment is important,” Morehouse College President David Thomas told The Associated Press. “For 152 years, the world has, in some way, seen Morehouse as the West Point of black male development.” The policy also states that Morehouse “will continue to use masculine pronouns” which it calls “the language of brotherhood”, reports AP. The move made by the alma mater of Martin Luther King Jr., Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson is, of course, drawing controversy, but school officials say it’s an “important step toward a more inclusive campus.” Morehouse is the first standalone all-male college to adopt a transgender men acceptance policy. More than 1,000 colleges and universities nationwide have adopted some form of a transgender policy, including about two dozen historically black colleges. What do YOU think about Morehouse’s transgender men acceptance policy???

Source: Tim Mosenfelder / Getty Earl Sweatshirt Goes In On A Protestor At His Show Videos of Earl Sweatshirt in the wild are always a delight, just like this latest footage of the rapper going in on a protestor outside of his show. Earl performed at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver, Colorado this week, but outside of the venue, he ended up getting into a confrontation with a religious protestor. A video of what went down ended up surfacing on April 12 after being taken by one of his fans who attended the show. “Spontaneously went to an Earl Sweatshirt show in Denver and saw him outside the venue telling this racist, sexist religious dude to fuck off,” she wrote in her caption. The footage shows Sweatshirt standing next to his tour bus as he gets into an argument with a man holding up a megaphone and flashlight, standing on a milk crate. As he tries to reason with the protestor, a woman continuously twerks in front of him, presumably trying to make him mad and leave the premises. “Can you stop?” Earl says to the man repeatedly. The protestor continues to counter, saying, “The Bible commands all man everywhere to repent. There comes a day that he will judge you and he will judge you for your sins. Your sins, sir, are going to drive you to hell. You need to repent of your sins and turn to Jesus Christ.” Earl is simply trying to get this dude to stop and continuously claps his hands together while telling the man, “Shut up, be quiet and go away.” Toward the end of the video, someone who appears to be security starts to pull Earl away from the scene. Check out the footage down below of what you can expect outside of the venue at your next Earl Sweatshirt concert. Source: Jim McIsaac / Getty Students At LeBron’s School Are Improving Their Test Scores In the very short time since LeBron James opened his I Promise School in his home state of Ohio, the students there have already exceeded expectations. According to a new report from the New York Times , children at the school have seen both their math and their reading scores increase since it opened in July of 2018. After participating in the Measures of Academic Progress assessment, 216 of 240 students were found to have met or exceeded their expected growth at the mid-year mark. When they first came into the school, reading comprehension scores for third and fourth grade students were consistently in the lowest percentile. Today, third graders have advanced all the way to the 9th percentile, while fourth graders rose to the 16th. In math, third graders were in the first percentile and have since jumped to 18th. Fourth graders went to the 30th percentile after being in the second. “These kids are doing an unbelievable job, better than we all expected,” James told the Times of the students and their progress. “When we first started, people knew I was opening a school for kids. Now people are going to really understand the lack of education they had before they came to our school. People are going to finally understand what goes on behind our doors.” 2 years ago today, alongside our community, we announced that we would work to open a public school that could forever change the lives of our #IPROMISE families & change the mold of urban public education. Here we are today. #WeAreFamily #ThrowbackThursday pic.twitter.com/bW9bmAZCUS — I PROMISE School (@IPROMISESchool) April 11, 2019 While the students are still behind when compared to normal grade levels, their improvement in only one short year shows that James’ promise is actually being fulfilled. The school was built to serve at-risk children, but it also offers parents opportunities, like the ability to finish high school, even promising free tuition to the University of Akron upon graduation. Beyond those already impressive promises, students also receive free breakfast, lunch and snacks, as well as a free bike, according to Time . The school’s first year is set to wrap up in May and STEM-based camps will be offered throughout the summer. The school is expected to serve all grades from first to eighth within the next four years. I Promise’s inaugural students are now preparing to take the state’s standardized tests with results expected in the summer.
