It may be all over for Rita Ora and Rob Kardashian , but the speculation is far from done. Following Kardashian’s Twitter rant against his ex, in which he accused Ora of cheating on him with “20 dudes,” the identity of one of those dudes has allegedly been revealed. It’s Jonah Hill! “Rita spent the night with Jonah during a trip to New York,” a source tells Us Weekly , although it’s unclear what her status with Kardashian was at the time. Ora and Kim’s brother dated sporadically for many months before this final, official split. But if Rita did get it on with the Moneyball star, that begs the question: Is Jonah Hill an upgrade or downgrade over Rob Kardashian? Upgrade! Downgrade! View Poll »
Embattled WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange promised Thursday to release more than a million files in 2013 which would affect “every country in the world.” “Despite an unprecedented criminal investigation and campaign to destroy WikiLeaks, 2012 has been a huge year,” said Assange in a rare video message. “Next year will be equally busy. WikiLeaks has well over a million documents to release.” Julian Assange Christmas Message Assange, the Australian native founder of WikiLeaks, gave his speech from the balcony of Ecuador’s London embassy, where he has been given asylum. He’s been holed up there since mid-June to avoid extradition to Sweden, where police want to question him about allegations of sexual misconduct. He has not been charged with any crime by any country. Assange has said he fears being sent to the U.S., which he believes will prosecute him for WikiLeaks’ release of classified diplomatic and military intelligence. During Thursday’s address, he reiterated those fears : “The U.S. investigation is referred to in testimony under oath in U.S. courts, is admitted by Department of Justice and by the District Attorney of Virginia as a fact.” “”It’s subpoenas are being litigated in the courts. The Pentagon reissued its threats against me in September and claimed the very existence of WikiLeaks is an ongoing crime.” “My work will not be cowed. But while this immoral investigation continues, and while the Australian government will not defend [WikiLeaks], I must remain here.” Assange says he plans to start a WikiLeaks-themed political party and run for Australian senate … assuming he can return there at some point of course.
SMMFH Man Arrested In Virginia For Carrying A Board Labeled “Rifle” Into Sandy Hook Elementary Via DailyPress A man walked into northern Virginia’s Sandy Hook Elementary School on Wednesday with a 2-by-4 printed with the words “High Powered Rifle” and was quickly subdued by a school resource officer, the sheriff’s office said. Christopher G. Johnson, 33, did not resist arrest and was attempting to deliver a message “related to school safety,” said Maj. Scott Proctor of the Shenandoah Sheriff’s Department. The school located about 50 miles west of Washington shares the same name as the Connecticut elementary school where 20 schoolchildren and six adults were shot to death by a lone gunman on Friday. Johnson, who lives in Strasburg, was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor, disorderly conduct, Proctor said. He was being held without bond at the county jail. A Dec. 28 court date was scheduled. Proctor did not know if Johnson had retained an attorney. A woman who identified herself as Johnson’s roommate said she had just learned of his arrest and did not want to immediately comment. Proctor said Johnson walked into the school building shortly before noon and administrators immediately notified the resource officer. No weapons were found in the car he drove to the school. The message has already been delivered, there’s a bunch of crazy muhfuggas out there, including this guy. What the hell was he thinking??? Image via YouTube
Black Communities Not Getting Same Reaction To Gun Violence As Whites Gun violence isn’t that big of a deal when black people are the victims/shooters? According to Washington Post Blog: Young black men kill each other every day. The problem is particularly acute in cities like Chicago, President Barack Obama’s hometown. Yet, I haven’t seen the president or the mainstream media shed a tear over the fact more than 50 percent of America’s murder victims are black and nearly all of those blacks killed – 85 percent- are young men. Nor do we see media or presidential outrage or calls for more rigid gun control laws when young black kids are heinously murdered like we do when the victims are mostly white. Neither words nor God can explain the horrific mass slayings that occurred at Sandy Brook Elementary, Columbine, Virginia Tech University, Aurora and those to come in our future. But why don’t we hear the same pain or calls for tougher gun laws from the mainstream press when Trayvon Martin was killed? Instead, the media immediately turned it into a racially motivated killing of a black boy by a white man. Yet there is often little horror over the alarming rate of young black men who are both perpetrators and victims of these homicides. For years the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported that the homicide rate among blacks is beyond epidemic proportions. The CDC found as of 2007, “black males age 15-34 were at the greatest risk of death by homicide.” Where’s the societal outrage over the reality that 55 percent of all federal prisoners are black though blacks only account for 12 percent of the population, as Shelby Steele noted here. The double standard the mainstream media shows toward its coverage of black vs. white homicides is beyond irresponsible and dishonest. When black Kansas City Chiefs football player Javon Belcher shot his wife Kassandra Perkins and then killed himself with the same gun, I don’t remember the news media calling for tougher gun laws. Why? Is it okay for blacks to kill? Discuss and read article in its entirety HERE Shutterstock
Robert Bork, whose long political career was most noteworthy for his controversial rejection from the Supreme Court in the 1980s, has died at the age of 85. Son Robert H. Bork Jr. confirmed his father died at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va. The son said Bork died from complications of heart ailments . The brilliant, blunt Bork’s confirmation hearings helped draw the modern boundaries of cultural fights over abortion, civil rights and other issues. The Senate denied him confirmation and a spot on the court, 58-42. Earlier in life, Bork was accused of being a partisan hatchet man for Richard Nixon. As the third-ranking official at the Justice Department, he fired Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox in the “Saturday Night Massacre” of 1973. Attorney General Elliot Richardson resigned rather than fire Cox. The next in line, William Ruckelshaus, refused to fire Cox and was himself fired. But it was Bork’s drubbing during the 1987 Senate nomination hearings made him a hero to the right and a rallying cry for younger conservatives. The experience embittered Bork and hardened many of his positions, even as it gave him prominence as an author and popularity on the speaking circuit. Kenneth Weinstein, head of the Washington think-tank Hudson Institute where Bork was a distinguished fellow, said in response to his passing: “Robert Bork was a giant, a brilliant and fearless legal scholar, and a gentleman whose incredible wit and erudition made him a wonderful Hudson colleague.” Known before his nomination by Ronald Reagan as an expert on antitrust law, Bork became widely known as a conservative cultural critic in the ensuing years.
Texas teachers could be armed with guns themselves following Friday’s stunning Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. The state’s governor, Rick Perry, has expressed support – at least for allowing districts to determine whether their teachers can carry concealed weapons. It has also been reported that one Texas district already permits teachers to pack concealed handguns in class; Perry says he is open to expanding the idea. Perry told the NE Tarrant County Tea Party on Monday evening: “In the state of Texas, if you go through the process, have been trained, and you are a handgun-licensed individual, you should be able to carry a gun anywhere in the state.” In addition, Virginia Gov. McDonnell said Tuesday, “I know there’s been a knee-jerk reaction against that [but] I think there should at least be a discussion of that.” “If people were armed, not just a police officer but other school officials … certainly there would be an opportunity to stop aggressors coming into the schools.” “So I think that’s a reasonable discussion that ought to be had,” he added. Virginia and Colorado have already seen gun sales spike this week. In the Harrold Independent School District in Texas, a policy was already implemented in 2007 that allows teachers to carry concealed handguns in schools. Harrold superintendent, David Thweatt, has said “We’re a rural community. We’re in a county about a little smaller than the state of Rhode of island.” “We’re 30 minutes from law enforcement. Thirty minutes is an extremely long time.” In Connecticut last week, 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot his mother dead, then drove to the nearby Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. He broke his way in before murdering 20 children as well as six adults in the school. After the slaughter, Lanza turned the gun on himself and shot himself dead. It was one of the worst high school massacre shootings in United States history and has sparked a wide debate on gun control and regulations in America. What do you think: Should teachers be allowed to carry guns? Yes, it could actually prevent violence! No, that would be utter insanity … View Poll »
While an assault weapons ban will likely go before Congress in 2013, and while many are calling for stricter gun control laws in response to the Connecticut shooting , residents in at least two states are taking a different tact: They’re getting locked and loaded. On Saturday, Virginia state police reported 4,166 filings for background checks on those seeking to purchase a gun, that’s a whopping 42 percent increase from the same date in 2011. It’s also the highest tally since the state starting tracking these transactions in 1989. Colorado also set a single-day record for background checks on Saturday; that state checked in with 4,200, a record number since it starting keeping track in 1999. Only licensed gun dealers need to perform background checks, of course, meaning these figures don’t account for an individual purchasing weapons via private sellers. Where do you stand on these facts and figures? Is it understandable folks would want to stock up in the wake of a massacre? And is it time to pass major gun control laws? YES. Fewer guns, fewer tragedies! NO. It’s unconstitutional and won’t stop anything! View Poll »
New Black Kid On The Block DEZ released his Real Talk mixtape this week and it even includes a special feature with rapper Ma$e A few years ago, Dezmond Armstead was just a high school freshman in Virginia playing on the varsity basketball team; a young man who had hoped his basketball talents would get the attention of the high school girls. “I thought, I’m definitely going to get noticed,” Dez reminisces, “but it didn’t work out that way.” He soon realized that his voice was his greatest strength and eventually garnered the attention he wanted, along with a slew of requests of popular R&B songs from the 80s and early 90s. Inspired by Usher and Bobby Brown, Dez was ready to put his talent to the test and moved to Los Angeles after high school to see what he was made of. He later met the production Duo, The Movement and they began to talk about their love for classic R&B. After a few studio sessions and completed tracks the musical chemistry was undeniable. The Movement, who are known for making breakout double-platinum hits like Justin Bieber’s “One Time” and Jesse McCartney’s “Leavin” recount those first few days with Dez. “Having seen successful acts at the very beginning stages of their careers, we were immediately convinced about Dez’s ability. After the first song We Ride, we knew we were onto something special.” The team set out to build an organic campaign online to grow his fan base and after releasing a cover of Beyonce’s, “I Miss You” and Drake’s “HYFR,” Dez began to put together the elements for what would soon be his mixtape. “So my journey begins, Real Talk is the movement !Real life, real love, real pain, that real R&B.” says Dez. That’s right folks…$16.8 Mill. Pharrell’s posted up his enormous tri-level penthouse condo in Miami, FL on the market and it’s not too shabby. Over 9,000 square feet (WTF??), five bedrooms, and 6.5 baths!! According to Sources : Property records show Mister Pharrell picked up the penthouse in March 2007 for $12,525,000 from a well-known property developer and it wasn’t long before he was involved in an ugly legal imbroglio over numerous water leaks that came, according to at least one online report, from “at least six sources in the home, such as the penthouse pool, plant watering system, and Jacuzzi.” Current listing information shows the sprawling, 40th floor penthouse boasts knee-knocking 360-degree city, bay, ocean and causeway views. The capacious main floor living/dining room has chestnut colored wood floors, a curving ribbon of nearly floor to ceiling glass with terrace access and panoramic water views, a built-in buffet in the dining area and a built-in entertainment center in the living area with a massive flat screen television. A floating staircase connects the main floor to the second floor landing where a gravity defying spiral staircase corkscrews up to a third floor lounge underneath a spectacular and downright Herculean frosted glass dome that defines the triple height space and for some reason isn’t shown in any of the listing photographs we dug up online.Anyhoo, the master suite has a bedroom with watery view and direct terrace access, a big bathroom slathered in inlaid marble and what Mister Rus in W Magazine called a “steroidal closet…filled with a teenager’s fantasy trove of Technicolor sneakers.” Three levels of vast terraces offer unparalleled all-around views, an outdoor summer kitchen, miles of tiled planter boxes, a spa and a plunge-sized swimming pool beneath a muscular, vine-draped pergola. steroidal closet is filled with a teenager’s fantasy trove of Technicolor sneakers Property records show Mister Pharrell—recently engaged to his long-time lady friend and baby momma Helen Lasichanh with whom he has young son named Rocket Mann Williams—still owns the 9,116 square foot waterfront mansion in his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA that he bought way back in December 2001 for $1,850,000. Should Lindsay Lohan go to jail? We ask that question on a regular basis, we realize, but prosecutors are likely to push for it for real this time, with the star facing charges of lying to police . The L.A. City Attorney will reportedly ask the judge to throw the embattled actress in jail for violating terms of her probation in Lohan’s ncklace theft case . “Prosecutors and cops think there is more than enough evidence for the judge to find Lindsay in violation of her probation,” a source close to the situation said. “They are hopeful that this time, she will face the maximum penalty for lying to cops. Remember, the burden is much lower for a probation violation.” “Just the fact that Lindsay will be charged with a crime is enough.” As previously reported, Lohan rear ended a dump truck on Pacific Coast Highway last summer. She initially tried to claim her assistant was the one driving. Compounding matters? The tow truck driver Lindsay rear ended, James Johnson, will testify that her camp tried to pay him off immediately after the accident. Johnson has also told cops that Lindsay was “absolutely trying to leave the scene of the accident without exchanging information with him,” an insider says. “Prosecutors are extremely frustrated that Lindsay continues to act as if she is above the law and feel the system hasn’t punished her harshly enough.” We’ll see if that changes. Lindsay remains on probation, and under the terms of her probation, must obey all laws, which she obviously is incapable of doing. Will she pull a legal rabbit out of her hat again? Time will tell. What do you think: Should Lindsay Lohan do time? Yes, that train wreck brat will never learn otherwise! No, quit trying to make an example out of her, haters! View Poll »
