By James Dinh Faith Evans Photo: Jim Spellman/WireImage When it comes to R&B singers these days, personal troubles seem to be the least of their worries. And now Faith Evans says she’s resuming work on her new music video just days after her arrest on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving. The singer took to Twitter to thank fans for their well-wishes and assured them that a music video is still on the way. “Hi Faithfuls…I am on the set of my new video for my single “Gone Already”. I’m sure by now most of you heard that I was detained on suspicion of a DUI,” she tweeted on Monday (August 23). “After completing a full day of wardrobe prep I was stopped at a random checkpoint. I’m fine and well, and thank you for your prayers, kind words and concerns. I can’t wait for you all to see my new video & look forward to hearing from u guys…Fizzy,” she continued. On Saturday, Evans was pulled over at a checkpoint near Marina del Rey in Los Angeles and arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor drunken driving where she was then taken into police custody at 10:40 p.m. According to The Associated Press, the singer’s car was impounded as she was held for a few hours before being released on bail the following morning. In addition to working on new music, the singer is reportedly filming her own reality show , titled “It’s All About Faith,” which will follow Evans as she makes her return to the music scene. Wale Returns To His Roots With More About Nothing Mixtape

‘I wanted to channel the Wale [that existed] before I ever signed a record deal,’ rapper tells Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Wale’s ‘More About Nothing’ Photo: Courtesy of Wale Main Pick Street King : Wale Holding It Down for : DMV Mixtape : More About Nothing Real Spit : Yes the tape was a trending topic on Twitter when it came out about a week ago, and Mr. Folarin says he got over 100,000 downloads in less than 90 minutes when it dropped. A nice little ego booster, but Wale says he still feels the same way about selling 28,000 the first week his LP Attention Deficit (2009) dropped. “It damages your pride, your ego, it makes you think you’re not doing something right,” said in his hometown of Washington, D.C. “I wanted to channel the Wale [that existed] before I ever signed a record deal.” Wale’s most critically acclaimed mixtape is 2008’s Mixtape About Nothing, so he wanted to take it back to his roots. He says he feels like he’s not signed. He’s hungry. “That’s why you hear that vigor and hunger in my voice while I’m rapping. I was trying to go super-crazy in the booth to let them know that the hunger is still there. It’s to my label, the fans, to the doubters. I’m trying to prove myself. A lot of people try to reinvent themselves. I’m trying to define myself. It’s almost like it was a rough draft of my mission statement before, but this is the final draft. If y’all didn’t know who Wale was before, you know now. And the play on Nothing is that a lot people are saying nothin’, but we’re saying somethin’ now.” He has a lot to say on a particular track called “The Friends ‘n’ Strangers,” where he addresses a certain “Man on the Moon.” And we don’t mean the VMA Moonman. Queen Latifah, Dolly Parton To Make ‘Joyful Noise’

The movie star and country queen attempt to save a gospel choir in their new flick. By Mawuse Ziegbe Queen Latifah Photo: Michael Kovac/ FilmMagic Country music and hip-hop royalty Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah are slated to rule things on the big screen as co-stars in the upcoming flick “Joyful Noise.” According The Hollywood Reporter, the musicians/actors will play a pair of ladies who work to stop the closure of a scrappy gospel choir. Latifah will portray the mother of a couple of teenagers who takes the reins of the Pacashau Gospel Choir after the choir leader dies. Parton will play the late choir director’s wife who is gunning for the chance to helm the singing group. The country diva and jazz/pop/hip-hop mogul may also bust out a few tunes together in the film. “Noise” reportedly has a musical angle and director Todd Graff, the writer-director behind the 2003 coming-of-age flick “Camp,” is working on the script. “Noise” marks a return to the silver-screen for Parton, who followed up her successful crossover from country to pop with Hollywood hits in the ’80s like “Steel Magnolias” and “Nine to Five.” Latifah will stick up for a choir that has fallen on hard times in “Noise” but the multimedia mogul has said she wants to help out promising actors in Hollywood as well. The hip-hop pioneer and big-screen A-lister broke down her reasoning for bringing rapper Common onboard for her last project, “Just Wright.” “Every time that I do a movie, when I get into a position of power and my voice actually meant something, I realized that I could no longer walk out onto a set and look at a bunch of white males,” Latifah, who was a producer on “Wright,” told MTV News earlier this year. “That was just no longer acceptable. I need to see dynamics. I needed to see what I just came out of from walking off the street when I came in here. Where are the women? Where are the people of color? I need to see that in front of me, ’cause I just don’t feel like it’s right.” What do you think about Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton joining forces onscreen? Let us know in the comments below! Sarah Palin Supports Dr. Laura’s Use of the N-Word

Sarah Palin has a new cause: defending Dr. Laura. The former vice-presidential nominee and ex-Alaska governor tweeted her support for Dr. Laura Schlessinger, who said she'd quit her radio show after coming under fire for repeatedly using the N-word while on-air with a caller. “Dr.Laura:don't retreat…reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence”isn't American, not fair”),” Palin tweeted on Wednesday. Palin then said, “Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice, America!” Schlessinger, 63, used the N-word 11 times in 5 minutes while trying to make a point about racism on her Aug. 10 show. She said on “Larry King Live” on Tuesday night she wouldn't return when her contract is up at the end of the year. While Schlessinger told King she was still “regretful” over the incident, she said her freedom of speech rights “have been usurped by angry, hateful groups who don't want to debate – they want to eliminate.” Palin faced a freedom-of-speech quandary of her own in July after Facebook unintentionally removed one of her posts where she vehemently disapproved a plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero. And this isn't the first time Palin has used the now-infamous “don't retreat, reload” slogan. In March, she said the phrase after the passage of the health care reform. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/08/19/2010-08-19_sarah_palin_suppo… added by: EmperorThan

Lady Gaga Brings Contagious Energy To Staples Center

After a 72-hour bender of recording new songs, Gaga played the favorites at first of two L.A. shows. By Matt Elias Lady Gaga performs at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Fresh from her headlining gig at Lollapalooza, Lady Gaga rolled her Monster Ball into L.A. on Wednesday night for the first of two shows at the Staples Center. Hours before the concert started, Gaga’s little monsters marauded around the venue, decked out in Gaga gear. The theme for the ball may as well been a “no pants party,” with fans of both sexes parading in fishnets and leotards. It wasn’t just Mother Monster’s kin in attendance — Perez Hilton tweeted that Britney Spears was on hand for the show, though he said she left after a few songs. With the pop princess watching, Gaga took the stage just after 9 p.m. It was everything you would expect from a Gaga production — the sets! the costumes! the lights! — but what can’t be overlooked is the energy. Gaga and her dancers gave it their all for two hours and change. With four major set changes, 19 songs (not including the interstitial tunes) and an arching narrative throughout the show, the Monster Ball seems less of a concert than a Broadway musical at times. The set kicked off with “Dance in the Dark,” “Glitter and Grease” and “Just Dance” (the opening notes of which were played on a keyboard that was hidden under the hood of a broken down car). Gaga’s first wardrobe choice of the night was a pair of oversize purple shades, a giant shoulder-padded purple jacket and a purple leopard-print leotard underneath. After the first few songs, Gaga addressed her adoring crowd. “The Monster Ball is sexual freedom,” she declared. “Tonight in Los Angeles we’ll be super freaks and monsters.” And she continued her conversation with the audience throughout the night. With fans on their feet during a rousing rendition of “LoveGame” (encouraged by Gaga’s “Now dance mother—-ers!), she thanked them for buying tickets and supporting her. “Tonight, I want you to free yourselves, forget your insecurities.” Next up was “Boys Boys Boys,” followed by a brief exit. She returned from beneath the stage on a riser to perform “Money Honey.” She then took time to call a fan in the cheap seats and surprise him with tickets closer to the stage. It was a perfect segue to “Telephone,” which was one of the most elaborate dance routines and biggest sing-alongs of the night. But Gaga had to settle the crowd for at least a few minutes during the night. With her piano rising from the beneath the stage, she launched into “Speechless” — which she dedicated to her dad, who was also in attendance. Next was new tune “You and I,” proving that all the she really needs is her voice and a piano. The new song was a tease of what’s yet to come. Gaga announced that she had been on a 72-hour bender of writing and recording new music. “I want to put it out tomorrow,” she said, “but I can’t!” “So Happy I Could Die,” “Monster” and “Teeth” kept the show moving until the climactic “Alejandro,” “Poker Face” and Paparazzi.” At one point, Gaga emerged in a bra and panty set that sprayed sparks from her unmentionable regions. But the crowd’s biggest eruption occurred during the encore. With the curtain still down, Gaga’s familiar “oh, oh, oh-oh-oooh” broke over the speakers, and fans instantly recognized “Bad Romance.” As fans roared, the curtain lifted to reveal her in a rotating sphere wearing a mirrored angular outfit. It was her 19th song of concert — with almost as many wardrobe changes — and it was finally time for Gaga to call it a night as her monsters exited the ball sweaty and satisfied.
