We always knew that Nicole Jizzfinge r character was ruthless… Now her former bandmate is snitching about her cutthroat behavior! According to RadarOnline reports : Nicole Scherzinger is a fake who will do anything for fame, says one of her former Pussy Cat Doll band-mates, Star magazine exclusively reveals in their new issue. Kaya Jones, who was one of the original member of the girls group claims that it was her voice – NOT Nicole’s – that can be heard on many of their smash hits, including Buttons and Don’t Cha. “They put my voice down and said it was hers,” Kaya told Star in an exclusive interview. “When it came to having her own sound, she just didn’t have it.” The X Factor judge’s boundless ambition made her determined to be number one, even if her vocal chords weren’t up to scratch, says Jones, who claims she pushed other girls out of the group to get to the top. Considering all those rumors we heard about her getting chopped down by the label head, none of this surprises us… Do you guys like Nicole Jizzfinger? We’re talking about her music, not her body. From Taylor Swift’s major-category shutout to the army of collaborators on Kanye’s ‘All of the Lights,’ we take a closer look at this year’s nods. By Gil Kaufman Kanye West Photo: Flanigan/ Getty Images The big headline out of Wednesday night’s “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!” event was that Kanye West came away with the night’s gaudiest number at seven nods. He bested heavily tipped Grammy bait Adele , who scored six, tying her with veteran rockers Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars , with Lil Wayne and party-starting DJ Skrillex just behind at five. Yes, there were some surprises, such as Justin Vernon’s sedate folkie solo project Bon Iver snagging four nominations and British tweed revivalists Mumford & Sons rolling up an equal amount. But it’s some of the other facts and figures we were more interested in. So enjoy the 2011 Grammy nominations, by the numbers: 0 : Number of major nominations scored by Taylor Swift for her smash Speak Now album. She did pull down three nods for Best Country Album and Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Mean.” 4 : Grammy nominations for the coaches from NBC reality singing show “The Voice,” Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine. 0 : Grammy nods for the judges (Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger) on “American Idol” and “The X Factor.” 6 : Age Rihanna was in 1994 when the first Foo Fighters album was released. RiRi is up against the veteran rockers in the Album of the Year category, where Dave Grohl (42) and company are the elder statesmen in a race where none of the competition cross the three-decade mark: Bruno Mars (26), Adele (23) and Lady Gaga (25). ‘We’ve seen him [with] ‘Baby,’ now we’re watching him grow up,’ producer Kuk Harrell tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf Justin Bieber Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber has said that he wants to pull a Justin Timberlake on his next album. So what exactly does that mean? His longtime vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, spoke to MTV News about the early stages of Bieber’s next release. “The only conversation we’ve had about Justin’s album that we’re about to do is it’s really important that it’s the proper transition because we’ve seen him [with] ‘Baby,’ now we’re watching him grow up,” said Harrell, who has also worked with Rihanna on her Talk That Talk record. “And we can’t just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. There’s a record in between.” With further details on this next album being kept under wraps, Bieber is busy celebrating the holidays. He’s slated to release his video for “All I Want for Christmas,” co-starring Mariah Carey, on Wednesday. Harrell worked with Bieber on his Under the Mistletoe LP and says agreeing to do a Christmas album with the teen phenomenon was an easy yes. “That’s why I think this Christmas album was really important because it gave everybody the opportunity to hear him, see him and get used to his voice changing,” he said. “That was a huge thing going into this album. We were able to get a running start on where he’s at vocally ’cause it’s a natural thing. When his proper album comes out, everybody’s going to really be looking at that.” What will be noticeably different on this next album, which was teased on his holiday album, is that Bieber’s voice will be much deeper. So does Harrell think it’ll be changing a lot more for this next record? “I think he’s pretty good right now,” he said. “It’s just a matter of him settling [into] where he is.” Regardless of what magic does end up making the final cut on this album, which Bieber has said may include work from Drake and Kanye West , Harrell notes that the 17-year-old is “always willing to bring a new fire.” Related Artists Justin Bieber
‘Twilight’ enthusiasts’ repeat viewings could keep flick box-office king. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Happy “Twilight” Tuesday ! It’s time for another installment in our resurrected series of columns dedicated to all things regarding Edward Cullen, Bella Swan, Jacob Black and the rest. Today’s topic: Just how long will “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1” reign as box-office king? Knowing the serious dedication the “Twilight” fanbase has to the film franchise, it’s no surprise “Breaking Dawn” dominated the box office during its opening weekend. And even with a slew of highly anticipated films opening this weekend — “The Muppets,” “Hugo” and “Arthur Christmas” among them — the fervor still surrounding “Breaking Dawn” and fans’ commitment to see the film multiple times means that the vampires and werewolves are very likely to hold the #1 spot for a while. “I have seen the movie twice,” Cade Johnson, of Salinas, California, told MTV News via email. “I would like to see it in theaters at least four times, maybe five,” he said. “It is definitely the best out of the four so far, in my opinion.” Yvonne R. Villani of Hiram, Georgia, has also vowed to see the film multiple times and has a strategy in place for how to keep herself immersed in “Twilight” goodness as long as possible: “I’ve seen this movie multiple times and plan on seeing it a few more times because I just really liked it!” she said. “I have been waiting all year and part of last year, since I read the book, for this movie to come out. I have ‘Breaking Dawn’ both in paperback and audio CD, so I figure I will start either reading it or listening to it again this week, then when I get to where the movie left-off, I will go see it again to remind myself of the differences and really compare.” “Twilight” expert Laura Byrne-Cristiano, who runs TwilightLexicon.com , said she’s noticed a lot of fans changing their opinions about “Breaking Dawn” the book now that the film version has opened. “I’ve also noticed a real shift in opinion that caught me by surprise so much so that I ran a poll about it,” said Byrne-Cristiano said. “When the novel ‘Breaking Dawn’ came out, it was a love/hate thing. But from what I’ve seen, people have really started to change their minds about it, and have come to like it. “The people who got into ‘Twilight’ after the movies came out seem to pick ‘Breaking Dawn’ as their favorite book by a landslide, which is something that never occurred to me in a million years because of all the backlash when it first came out.” So, what is it about these films that has fans so engrossed and committed? It’s a “clean movie” with universal appeal, according to fan and repeat viewer Alessandra Sorgato, who wrote to us all the way from Milan, Italy. “I’m glad that so many people can identify themselves with the characters of ‘The Twilight Saga,’ ” she said. “It kind of surprises me because Stephenie Meyer wrote a love story which is anything but ordinary — it’s not based on sex, adultery and things like that. Lately it has become quite unusual to see movies focused on morals like eternal love, true friendship, the value of family at the top of the box office,” she added. ” ‘Breaking Dawn’ is a ‘clean movie,’ still it’s very successful all over the world, and I love it.” Speaking of worldwide love and success, we found out via a quick Twitter poll that there are a slew of very dedicated fans out there who have already seen “Breaking Dawn” six times, with one on her way to a 20th viewing! “I will keep going till they stop playing it!” wrote Robyn Smyly . “I will see it 6 times and my fave scene is when Bella takes her ‘human minutes’ when they get on the island,” said Kalynn Drake . “I’ve officially seen it 5 times now as of yesterday afternoon. What can I say? I’m addicted,” admitted fan Jodi-Lynn . “I plan on seeing BD at least a dozen times in theatre, I’ve already seen it three times,” Mel Douglas chimed in. There are so many more where those came from, but the award so far for most viewings definitely goes to Fran Richards , who wowed us with this stat: “I have seen Breaking Dawn [Part] 1 a total of 19 times so far,” she wrote. “Doing a 5 show marathon today!” What would you like to see on “Twilight” Tuesdays? ‘When you see R&B and pop and house, as well as electronic, come together, that’s the reality of what music is,’ Usher tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Jim Cantiello Usher Photo: MTV News When Usher and David Guetta hooked up for the French DJ’s latest album, Nothing but the Beat, the two superstars created a chart-topping smash, “Without You,” that combines Guetta’s ear for house beats and Usher’s ability to convey a range of emotions with his voice. It’s a song that has really stuck with fans of all genres of music. The track — a swirling pop ode to not giving up on love in the face of adversity — struck Usher with its emotional core. “David Guetta is an amazing artist,” he told MTV News last week at a Pencils of Promise charity event . “We talked for many years about working together, and we found a record that was incredible.” Usher said it was a song that resonated with him personally. “I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I’ve actually been on in the last three years,” he said. “Traveling all around the world, music sounds different. There’s many different genres, and when you see R&B and pop and house, as well as electronic, come together, that’s the reality of what music is.” When MTV News talked to Guetta on the American Music Awards red carpet Sunday, he said “Without You” is a standout track on the album. The LP dropped earlier this year and also includes Nicki Minaj, who performed with Guetta at the AMAs . “It’s one of my favorite songs,” he said. “It’s just, I’m a DJ, so I want to make people dance always, but I also want to give emotions. When it comes to that, ‘Without You’ is probably one of the most emotional songs that I’ve done, and yes, I’m very proud of that record.” What do you think about “Without You”? Box-office haul is enough to break series record but a far cry from all-time high set by ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan Robert Pattinson in “Breaking Dawn” Photo: Summit Entertainment Box-office analysts predicted that the returns for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” were going to be big, but now we’re finally getting an idea of just how big. The totals from Thursday’s midnight showings are in, and “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” just barely broke the series record by earning $30.25 million; “Eclipse” held the previous best for the series with $30.1 million. That works out to be almost $8,600 per location just from the midnight showings. While impressive, the midnight totals for “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” were still a far cry from the record set by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2,” which earned $43.5. Ray Subers from Box Office Mojo expects “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” to follow the pattern set by “New Moon” in 2009 for its Friday total, which was $83 million, and then go on to earn $160 million for its total opening weekend, which would make it the second-best opening of the year and all-time, again behind “Deathly Hallows, Part 2.” Summit had originally predicted that the penultimate entry in the series could earn anywhere from $110 million to $125 million in its opening weekend. Rival studios claimed this number was purposely lower than actual expectations, which they put at more than the “New Moon” $142 million total. To put the midnight total into perspective, Taylor Lautner’s last film, “Abduction,” has earned only $27.5 million in the two months since its release.
