Fire at courthouse delayed Tuesday’s scheduled sentencing, which will now take place on March 8. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil wayne Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne’s sentencing has been delayed yet again. Now, the rapper will appear before a judge on Monday and turn himself in to begin his one-year prison sentence. The rapper was scheduled to appear in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, but a fire at the New York Criminal Court building delayed his hearing. This is the third delay overall. The rapper was originally slated to be sentenced last month , but his attorney made a last-minute request to postpone the proceedings in order for Wayne to undergo dental surgery . The judge granted the request and rescheduled the proceedings for Tuesday of this week. But when an unexpected fire occurred Tuesday morning at the courthouse, all afternoon cases were pushed back. A spokesperson for the Office of Court Administration told MTV News Wednesday morning (March 3) that Lil Wayne’s case has be rescheduled for Monday, March 8. Wayne is expected to formally enter a guilty plea to attempted gun possession after he and prosecutors reached a deal in the case in November. He will serve a one-year prison term , and it is widely believed that he could be out in as early as eight months later, assuming good behavior. The rapper was arrested in 2007 on gun charges and was facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The MC star is expected to turn himself in immediately after his sentencing. In other states, Lil Wayne could have gotten off with a misdemeanor rap and probation. However, in New York , permission to carry firearms is primarily limited to law-enforcement officials and those affiliated with authorities. The Empire State’s stringent gun laws were originally enacted during former governor George Pataki’s administration. On Tuesday, with an unexpected extra night of freedom, Wayne surprised fans at Madison Square Garden when he appeared onstage with Young Jeezy during Jay-Z’s headlining show. 1633050 While Wayne’s plans for the coming days were unclear at press time, expect to see more exclusive videos from the MC right here on MTVNews.com. ‘When artists are down to push the boundaries, that’s awesome,’ David Rousseau says. By Hillary Crosley Lil Wayne Photo: Thaddeus Lil Wayne may have gotten an unexpected extra day of freedom after a courthouse fire delayed his sentencing on weapons charges Tuesday (March 2), but the MC has prepared to cover his forthcoming jail term by preparing nearly 20 videos to air in his absence. The first of these clips is Young Money’s “Roger That,” which hit the Web Monday. MTV News chatted with co-directors David Rousseau and Adam Rush about the graphic novel-inspired, “Sin City”-influenced short, which only took a few minutes to imagine. “Jeff Panzer, the executive producer for all of the Cash Money videos, sent me the ‘Roger That’ track to sit with for couple hours — and it really was a couple of hours because I had to get an idea back to him pretty quickly,” Rousseau told MTV News. “We started texting back and forth and the idea to use ‘Sin City’ popped into my head and I came up with the concept. I thought of ‘Sin City’ because it was so groundbreaking and I knew it’d be a great match, something different and edgy that people would remember. The idea was born in an hour.” Rousseau then called on co-director Adam Rush and the pair — who have worked together before on clips for Flo Rida, Pitbull and DJ Khaled — began to fashion an action plan. “We discussed the concepts through style frames, which are mock-up images that show what the background would look like with Wayne, Nicki and Tyga,” Rush explained. “When the artists came to set, they had already chosen their outfits and things, then we shot it all that day in Miami and the footage of them in front of the green screen was flown to Los Angeles where editors put together a rough cut of all the images. Then, after the rough cut was approved by the label, Universal, the film was shipped off to me so I could do the film’s introductions, transitions, settings and background like the radar behind Tyga.” Fortunately, the Young Money camp understood the concept — because when filming in front of a green screen, artists must largely use their imaginations, since the scenery’s images won’t be created until post-production. “Filming with them on the green screen and capturing their energy was great because they understood what we were trying to do,” Rousseau said. “Green screen is hard sometimes because it takes a lot of imagination. We’ll sometimes print out story boards, which will have images close to what the screen will end up looking like to walk the artists through the idea. Nicki was great — I really enjoyed working with her, Tyga was great too. When artists are down to push the boundaries, that’s awesome. “On ‘Roger That,’ Nicki Minaj’s delivery is almost comic book-like, and then Tyga and Wayne come in like they’re rapping about fiction so the visual needed something out of the ordinary. The green screen was great because when you shoot on location, you’re limited to what you see — but with green screen it’s whatever you imagine, any scenario,” Rousseau added. As for Lil Wayne — who appears in the clip in a simple white T-shirt, sans any costume like Nicki’s flight suit or Tyga’s turn as an aviator — both directors say he’s a natural. “Wayne is Wayne — just put the camera and let him go,” Rousseau said. “He’s like Michael Jordan in the fourth quarter, just have to let him do his thing.” Related Videos Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Related Photos Lil Wayne Heads To Rikers Island Related Artists Lil Wayne

If Lil Wayne thinks arson is the way to delay his prison term, he’s probably wasting his efforts. You’re gonna have to do the time at some point, dawg! Just kidding. He had nothing to do with it, but you have to admit, it’s pretty funny that Lil Wayne’s trip to prison has been delayed a second time now. All thanks to a fire in the courthouse where he was to appear for sentencing Tuesday. February 9, the rapper got a reprieve because of … dental work . That was weird enough. Today, he was inbound on a plane from Miami to New York when a smoky basement fire shut the courthouse down for a day. It took an hour to control the fire, and five firefighters, two civilians and a prisoner were hurt. No word on which of Weezy’s henchmen lit the blaze. Kidding again. Lil Wayne is going to jail. One of these days. Having been convicted on a weapons charge and facing prison time , whenever it happens, Lil Wayne had posted a farewell of sorts Monday on Twitter: “yesterday i smiled, today i smirked tomorrow i stop…………………….thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they’re needed.” Also needed? Punctuation. The rapper’s been hella busy in the weeks leading up to what’s expected to be a year in jail, shooting nine videos in a 48-hour stretch at one point. Lil Wayne’s attorney, Stacey Richman, says he’s actually upset about the delay: “Once you make up your mind to do something, you want to do it.” He also applied that philosophy to Nivea Hamilton… and Lauren London . This prison term is really gonna slow down his rate of knocking up skanks.

Weezy shot footage for Diddy-Dirty Money’s ‘Strobe Lights’ video over the weekend. By Shaheem Reid Diddy Photo: MTV News On Monday, Lil Wayne sent an exclusive pre-jail clip to MTV News in which he filmed scenes for Diddy -Dirty Money’s upcoming “Strobe Lights” video at Miami’s Fountainebleu hotel. We caught up with Puff to get some more details on the track. “On Last Train to Paris, Wayne is on the album, Drake is on the album, we’re trying to get Hov on the album, trying to get Janelle Mon
The clip is one of almost 20 shot before Weezy’s impending jail time. By Hillary Crosley Lil Wayne Photo: Ozone Mag Lil Wayne has filmed footage for nearly 20 videos to be released during his forthcoming jail sentence — which was postponed again Tuesday (March 2) due to a courthouse fire — and the blitz began Monday with the premiere of Young Money’s graphic-novel-inspired “Roger That” clip. The clip features Nicki Minaj, Tyga and Wayne in a green-screen-heavy version of the 2005 film “Sin City.” Nicki, stationed in a black-and-white, oversaturated depiction of Manhattan, raps first from a heart-shaped bed and then from the first-class section of an airplane. Her pink hair swings as she rhymes, “Just hopped off the plane came back from Vancouv/ Little white tees, some boobs and bamboos/ White girls tell me, ‘Hey, Nicki, your camp rules!’ ” Stationed in a sketched version of Los Angeles, Tyga is next up in the clip and is dressed as a pilot in a leather bomber jacket and aviator glasses. In the next scene, the heavily tattooed rapper performs in a nightclub to an all-female audience that looks straight out of a noir detective novel. “Young black ricos kill for the C-notes/ But me, though, I jack son/ … She wanna play games, but this is not bingo,” Tyga spits. Finally, Weezy himself raps voraciously, sporting a black baseball cap and white tee. “I’m a beast, you a pet, long neck, Keith Sweat/ Weezy f—ing Baby, capo in this bitch/ Money talks so have a convo in this bitch wit’ me,” the MC raps while bouncing around on the screen. This might have been just one video in a long line of clips, but Wayne and the crew look like they had a great time. Hopefully, that feeling will last for the entirety of the New Orleans rapper’s impending sentence. Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Lil Wayne’s ‘Road To Rikers’ Related Artists Lil Wayne
