How many going away parties is this guy going to have? Lil Wayne’s long-awaited sentencing on a gun charge has been postponed yet again, this time due to a fire today in the basement…

A fire broke out at the New York courthouse where Wayne was to be sentenced. By Gil Kaufman Lil Wayne (file) Photo: Louis Lanzano/ Getty Images It looks like Lil Wayne may get one more day of freedom before beginning his yearlong prison sentence for gun charges. On Tuesday morning (March 2), hundreds of people were evacuated from the New York courthouse where Wayne (born Dwayne Michael Carter) was to be sentenced due to a smoky basement fire. According to The Associated Press, courts spokesman David Bookstaver said the fire was apparently started in a wooden contractor’s shed, causing the evacuation around 10:30 a.m. after the building filled with smoke. NY1 reported that the courthouse would be closed for the rest of the day as a result of the fire, which caused injuries to five firefighters, two civilians and one prisoner. It took crews over an hour to bring the blaze under control. Wayne’s lawyer, Stacey Richman, confirmed the reports, telling MTV News, “We have no idea when things will normalize.” Around 1 p.m., Richman said in an e-mail that she was still trying to figure out what would happen with the court appearance. After winning a sentencing delay in order to undergo eight root canals , Wayne was scheduled to be formally sentenced and turn himself in to begin his one-year prison term in New York on Tuesday. Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. Wayne has been working feverishly in recent weeks to complete a number of videos and songs to stay relevant during his physical absence. He released a statement to fans late Monday, in which he tweeted , “Yesterday i smiled, today i smirked, tomorrow i stop … Thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they’re needed. The F is for family, friends, and fans……….thank u………..your love and prayers are felt. They kant lok up my heart bekuz y’all already have it on lok. ……thank u.” Related Artists Lil Wayne

Young Wayne Carter. “Look at the attitude, though,” he continues with a buoyant swagger. “This is what you artists need to catch. Look at the attitude. No drugs, no nothing — I ain’t even get no p—-. I go away in two days, I ain’t even get no p—-.” After Wayne goes in to shoot his video, we see him leave and go back to his Miami estate. “There you have it. Nino. Rapper describes plans to film seven videos in one night, including one for Drake. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: Courtesy Nino Brown Nino Brown: The Road to Rikers, Part 2 Saturday night Lil Wayne and DJ Scoob Doo sent in a video clip featuring footage they shot that afternoon. Among other things, Wayne said it was time to party before he begins his expected one-year prison term at New York’s Rikers Island. But in fact he was doing the exact opposite. Wayne was back at work, filming several more music videos before his sentencing on gun charges on Tuesday. “I’m shooting seven videos today,” said Wayne, in his trailer on-set in Miami, in a brand-new clip you’ll see here exclusively. One of the videos of the night was for the Rebirth track “Runnin.” “I’mma show y’all the [work] ethic of a true artist,” Wayne says in the clip. “You know what I’m talkin’ about? Seven videos. I shot 10 in two days before. Now we about to do seven in one night. [‘Runnin’] was one. Next we about to do Drake’s song called ‘Afrika Boombatta.’ ” The New Orleans Fireman then began mulling over his wardrobe for Drake’s shoot. He was deciding between one of his brand-new tees promoting his Twitter account, “@liltunechi,” or a funky interpretation of deceased legend Marilyn Monroe. “Gotta wear one of my ‘@liltunechi’ shirts on there,” Wayne said. ” ‘Cause that song is a fun song. So I could wear that. Then again it’s Drake, so you might wanna get a little fly for his sh–.” Wayne then pulled out a T-shirt featuring Monroe with tattoos all over her arm. “Yeah, that’s stupid,” the Birdman Jr. said of the Monroe shirt. “I might have to rock that.” This latest clip of Wayne starts with the acclaimed performer showing off all the BET Hip-Hop Awards in his house. Later he says he needs more VMAs. “I got a house full of BET Awards,” Wayne said with a grin. “I got one MTV Award. MTV, holla atcha boy now. I’m not gonna mess up your function. I’m just gonna come get my award, thank God, thank my ‘hood, thank my fam. I ain’t gotta perform. “Give me an award for nothin’,” he continued with a chuckle. ” ‘The award for nothin’ goes to Lil Wayne.’ That’s all I need. MTV Award for nothin’, man.” Wayne and DJ Scoob Doo are also filming the reality DVD “The Nino Brown Story Part 3.” The first two installments are available at DJ Scoob Doo’s Web site . ‘You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together,’ Chris Robinson tells MTV News. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne and Eminem perform at the 2010 Grammy Awards Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage Lil Wayne feverishly filmed a series of music videos in the weeks leading up to what he thought would be his last day of freedom two weeks ago, before dental surgery postponed his prison sentence . Director David Rousseau told MTV News that the Cash Money superstar recorded up to nine videos in one weekend, though most were in front of a green screen so his image could be added later to the finished clips. One video the rapper was on the set for, however, was his upcoming clip with Eminem for “Drop the World.” The collaboration between the two esteemed MCs is the next single from Wayne’s Rebirth album. The pair performed a snippet of the track at last month’s Grammy Awards . Chris Robinson directed the “Drop the World” video and told MTV News on Tuesday (February 23) that the shoot — featuring the two heavyweight MCs — was comparable to a movie set. “As a director, it’s how do you, more than anything, combine these two artists together and create something that’s special,” he explained. “Because when you have two artists together, it’s like, ‘Oh, they’ll stand next to each other [and that’s it].’ It’s very awkward sometimes to have two very big stars. How are you gonna cover that? Especially two artists that are so big. You can do that with a performance at the Grammys, because the spectacle is to watch them onstage and sit in the audience and look at it. But as an artistic piece to have some magic, or if it’s a mood piece or whatever way you communicate the music, you have to take two people into consideration with how you do that. And for me, I almost take it like a feature film: How did Scorsese put Jack Nicholson and Leonardo DiCaprio in the same movie?” The clip was filmed on the eve of the Grammys, Robinson said. It was a one-day shoot, and Wayne was on the set for upward of 14 hours. As of press time, no details regarding the premiere are available. The “Drop the World” video is still being edited, Robinson said. It’s likely the director will complete the final clip by the top of next week. Wayne is scheduled to begin his one-year jail sentence in New York on March 2 after undergoing eight root canals . Robinson wouldn’t reveal the premise of the video, but he promised the clip would match the song’s intensity. “You got two guys who are basically huge supernovas coming together, and the way that the song is constructed is great,” he said. “Because unless you see it coming, you don’t know Eminem is on the track. The first two hooks and the first two verses are all Wayne, and it’s kind of a surprise when Eminem comes through, and we matched it visually how Eminem enters the piece. From the concept and to just hearing the lyrics, with both of these amazing lyricists killing it, the whole video is just energy.” Related Artists Lil Wayne Eminem

‘It’s so foolish we’ve haven’t paid it any attention,’ Shanell tells MTV News of rumors. By Hillary Crosley, with additional reporting from Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne and Shanell Photo: Prince Williams/ATLPics.net Lil Wayne may have an impending jail sentence, but in recent days some news about the MC has set the Internet chatter ablaze: Does he have another baby on the way? The Cash Money MC has been spotted attending events and snuggling with a new artist on his Young Money label named Shanell. The Massachusetts-born/Atlanta-raised songstress (real name: Shanell Woodgett), sister of former Danity Kane member D. Woods, began as a background dancer for artists like Kandi Burress, Petey Pablo and Ne-Yo before deciding to write songs. Teaming with her high school friend and producer Bangladesh, Shanell recorded a demo tape and aimed to become an artist herself along with writing for other people. She met Wayne while serving as a back-up dancer for Ne-Yo during the Up Close and Personal Tour (which featured the rapper along with Chris Brown) and eventually passed the rapper Bangladesh’s beat for “A Milli,” which became a huge street hit for the Young Money leader. Soon after, Shanell joined Lil Wayne’s artist enclave and began recording, touring and performing her single “Play in My Band” as well as co-writing songs for Wayne. Now, as she preps her as-yet-untitled debut album, Shanell said the rumors about whether she’s dating Lil Wayne have run rampant but have no basis in reality. “Basically it came from a corny rumor that escalated,” Shanell told MTV News.”First I was dating him, then I was his girlfriend, then we were getting married, then we were settling down and now I’m pregnant. It’s so foolish we’ve haven’t paid it any attention.” So what of the widely circulated photo where the two are hugging? “We’re taking a picture,” she said. The singer-songwriter says that the dating rumors were fine, but the pregnancy chatter was not. “All the rest of the rumors were kinda funny except that one,” she admitted. “When my mother called me like, ‘Um?,’ [I was] like, ‘No! Are you serious?’ I don’t care about the rumors, but I just want people to know that I’m not pregnant. I’ve got an album coming out, I’m a dancer, I’m in shape and children are not anywhere in my future.” Lil Wayne agrees. “Let me clear up this rumor, man: Shanell is not pregnant from me,” Wayne said in a serious tone on a Ustream video last weekend. “Shanell isn’t even pregnant! Period. Clear that up right now, man. Everybody talking about Shanell pregnant by … No, she not even pregnant. Period.” Lil Wayne may not be the father this go round, but he saw the birth of three sons — from an unnamed Ohio native, singer Nivea Nash and actress Lauren London — between 2008 and 2009 alone. His first child’s name is Reginae Carter, from his marriage to Toya Carter. Related Photos Lil Wayne, Drake Celebrate Shanell’s Birthday Related Artists Lil Wayne

MC also shows off his dental work, shouts out Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi in Ustream session. By Rahman Dukes Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Winter/Getty Images Next Tuesday, Lil Wayne is all but certain to begin his one-year jail sentence on weapons charges , after his expected sentencing was delayed by dental surgery . But Wayne is making sure he’s heard before then, by opening a new Twitter account — under the name LilTunechi — — and having another marathon Ustream session Sunday night on Young Money artist Lil Twist’s site. During the stream, Wayne talked briefly about his surgery, revealing his new pearly whites (and golds) and the removal of his lower diamond-studded grills. “Yeah, I got the bottom grill out for right now” said Wayne. “That’s why I’m not showing ya’ll too much.” The MC also said he plans to hit his new Twitter account hard before he goes away. At press time there were just a handful of tweets, but he’d only been at it for 14 hours. “How do I follow somebody?” Wayne asks Lil Twist in the Ustream video, moments after rejoining Twitter. “Somebody ask me to hit them up.” “Y’all even seeing Wayne go through the whole Twitter process!” Twist jokes. “He don’t know what he’s doing.” “I don’t know what I’m doing!” Wayne agrees. “I was born in the ’80s. This sh– wasn’t out then.” (In his first tweet, Wayne wrote: “I’m super new to this twitter sh– but wudup tho !……….follow me biot
