By Gil Kaufman Jesse Eisenberg in “The Social Network” Photo: Columbia Pictures The creators and cast of “The Social Network” were in major freak-out-excitement mode on Tuesday when Oscar nominations were announced. Continuing a very successful awards-season streak, the film picked up eight Academy Award nominations on Tuesday morning — making it this year’s third most-nominated Oscar contender behind “The King’s Speech” with 12 and “True Grit” with 10, and tied with “Inception.” Among the categories “The Social Network” will compete in on Oscar night next month will be Best Picture, Best Director (David Fincher), Best Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Best Adapted Screenplay (Aaron Sorkin) and Best Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross). Fincher, racking up his second career nomination, said he was “very grateful and humbled” by the nods and incredibly proud of his work on the film adaptation of the story of Facebook’s founding. One person who wasn’t joining in the group hug was Facebook founder and twentysomething billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, who isn’t portrayed in the best light in the film. A representative for the site told The Hollywood Reporter , “We’ve said all we’re going to say about the movie and the books … We’ve moved on from this discussion, and we think others have, too.” While Zuckerberg wasn’t exactly up for offering any congratulations, Eisenberg said he’d heard that the Internet mogul had thought the Oscar nominee had done a “nice job” portraying him in the movie. The film depicts Zuckerberg as a ruthless social climber who founded the popular social-networking website mainly to become more popular with the ladies — an image that the Facebook starter has rejected. Besides the young Muslim men whom the FBI recruits, funds, and gives the means and support to carry out attacks within the US, there are no doubt terrorists worldwide who are a danger to innocent people. Glenn Beck's willingness to float such an absurd rumor shows that Glenn Beck is perfectly willing to continue to propagandize for the Israel and the Military Industrial Complex's fake War on Terrorism, as he has done so many times in the past while pretending to be anti-establishment. *** On his radio program this morning, Fox News host Glenn Beck said that he suspects that close to 10 percent of Muslims are terrorists: BECK: What is the number of Islamic terrorists? One percent? I think it’s closer to 10 percent, but the rest of the PC world will tell you ‘oh no, it’s minuscule.’ Okay, well, let’s take you at your one percent. Look at the havoc of one percent of Muslims causing on the rest of the world! According to a Pew report from last year, there are 1.57 billion Muslims in the world. Thus, by Beck’s calculations, there would be 157 million Islamic terrorists — more than half the population of the U.S. Even at 1 percent, which Beck claims the “PC world” believes, there would be 1.57 million Muslim terrorists. But there is probably more than just foolishness behind Beck’s comment. BOSTON — Eight-year-old Christopher Bizilj — 4-foot-3 and 66 pounds — stepped up to the firing range to shoot an Uzi as his father and 11-year-old brother watched from a few feet away. As Christopher fired the 9mm micro submachine gun at a pumpkin, the weapon flipped backward and shot him in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Prosecutors brought manslaughter charges against the gun club where the machine gun shoot took place, two men who supplied the weapons and a small-town police chief who owns a company that sponsored the gun fair. On Monday, the first trial begins in what is expected to be a heart-wrenching recounting of Christopher's death on Oct. 26, 2008. Edward Fleury, the former police chief in the tiny western Massachusetts town of Pelham, has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter as well as four counts of furnishing a machine gun to a minor. ‘It was an honest mistake,’ former ‘Hills’ star tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Spencer Pratt Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ Getty Images Spencer Pratt, formerly of “The Hills,” was arrested and released in Costa Rica, where he had been trying to woo back his ex-wife, Heidi Montag, on Saturday. According to Pratt’s rep, Pratt was attempting to leave the country when he was arrested on a felony firearm possession charge. He was booked and processed at a local jail, and he was released after he turned in his weapons and signed a confession. In a statement to MTV News, Pratt said, “As part of my spiritual cleansing I’ve spent the last week living alone in the jungle, reflecting on my past transgressions, and working to become a better person. I had to live off the land, and hunt to survive. As I departed the country this morning to continue my spiritual journey, I mistakenly brought my hunting weapons to the airport. It was an honest mistake, and they sent me on my way. On an unrelated note, I’m not allowed in the country anymore — but that’s because of the chicken incident.” Early Sunday morning he tweeted , “Arrested in Costa Rica. If I knew the gov’t was Team Jacob, I wouldve kept my mouth shut.” Pratt explained to MTV News last month that he was in Costa Rica because he was hoping to reconcile with Montag. “We’re working things through,” he said. “Clearly I care for her, but the divorce is a superficial title ’cause I didn’t cheat on her. And then she divorces me to clean her image. That doesn’t fly with me. As much as I was like, ‘Do it’ [with the divorce], I never thought it would work.
