Kitty Lambert and Cheryle Rudd said “I do” moments after midnight on Goat Island, with rainbow-colored lights on Niagara Falls in the background. The couple have been together for more than 12 years. The New York Times reported that after a bell rang in the new day, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul A. Dyster said, “By the power vested in me by the laws of the state of New York, I now pronounce you legally married.” Lambert, 54, and Rudd, 53, kissed in front of more than 100 friends and family members, the Times said. “We’re so proud of everybody who crawled up this hill with us,” Lambert said Saturday evening before the wedding, BuffaloNews.com reported. In Albany, gay weddings began occurring at city hall, with the first couple mobbed by media, according to a Twitter feed from timesunion.com. According to a tweet by Danny Hakim, Albany bureau chief for The New York Times, Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings claimed he beat the Niagara Falls wedding with a private ceremony in his office for two longtime friends. “Done by 12:01,” according to the tweet. Whoever was first, thousands more gay and lesbian New Yorkers were getting ready to say “I do” this weekend, as the Empire State became the sixth in the U.S. to embrace same-sex marriage. A state law signed June 24 by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo went into effect at 12:01 on Sunday. In New York city alone, 823 couples planned to wed. A Keys stays gushing on and on about her matrimony-dom with lil skinny Swizzy: It seems that married life is agreeing with Alicia Keys. “It’s so fly,” the singer tells PEOPLE. “There’s something great about feeling at peace and ease with your partner and knowing you understand each other. I really enjoy that friendship.” Keys, 31, who will celebrate her one-year anniversary with producer husband Swizz Beatz on July 31, adds that being like-minded with her mate helps keep things harmonious. In fact, the two are so in sync that Keys even trusts Beatz (real name: Kaseem Dean) with helping her pick outfits for public appearances. “I can say, ‘I’m not sure about this look for the BET Awards. What do you think?’ and I know that he will honestly tell me exactly what’s up,” she says. This weekend at Buckingham Palace, it will feel like April 29 all over again. A new exhibit showcasing Kate Middelton’s wedding dress, tiara and more opens to the public Saturday, with over 125,000 advance tickets already sold. The exhibit will also display her shoes, jewelry, an artificial version of Kate’s bouquet, and even the wedding cake, minus its top three layers, obviously. The Duchess herself will be checking the exhibit out today alongside HRM Queen Elizabeth II, with whom she’ll hang out later this summer as well. Seeing the iconic dress in person, a USA Today reporter gushed over the details in the gown, which is “British craftsmanship at its best,” such as: “The sumptuousness of the lace flowers sewn onto the skirt and bodice, the deep vertical pleats that fall gracefully from the waistline down to the hem, the train’s elaborate individual panels, deliberately engineered to hold their shape.” Whatever that means, Kate Middleton sure looked elegant. The shoes for the big day, also by Alexander McQueen, were covered in white lace and featured heels 3-4 inches high. The exhibit ends October 3.

By Terri Schwartz Taylor Lautner in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit SAN DIEGO — There are many scenes in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” that fans have been anticipating, from the wedding scene to the honeymoon to the much-hyped birthing scene. But the moment star Taylor Lautner most dreaded came after all of them and involved him finding his soulmate in the body of a newborn baby — but not in a weird way, if that’s possible. At least, not entirely. And since the birthing scene is going to require a lot of CGI before the product is finished, Lautner wasn’t even able to act off another person while he “imprinted.” “I was given an X on a wall,” Lautner explained at San Diego Comic-Con . “I don’t know what I would have wanted [instead]; there isn’t any ideal situation here.” In the book, Lautner’s character, Jacob Black, plans on killing the child that nearly killed his best friend and major crush, Bella (played by Kristen Stewart). But upon seeing the baby in front of him, he imprints on the little girl and discovers that she is the woman he will spend the rest of his life loving, and his murderous purpose disappears. Lautner explained his experience filming the scene, saying, “I had to walk into the room with the intention of killing this baby and then stop, twist and imprint on it, whatever that means.” Co-star Robert Pattinson, laughing out loud, exclaimed, “That sounds amazing!
