Original post:

So, here is yet more incredibly disturbing footage from Occupy Oakland. The video is footage someone was shooting late Wednesday night / early Thursday morning. It seems to be a line of riot police. Then, for no apparent reason, one of the police casually raises his gun and shoots the cameraman. Fortunately, it was just a rubber bullet. This, along with reports (and more footage ) of arrests of reporters… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Lost in Transcription Discovery Date : 05/11/2011 22:46 Number of articles : 2

‘X Factor’: Rachel Crow Compared To Michael Jackson

It was a night full of high praise, with Astro, Josh Krajcik and Melanie Amaro all earning the judges’ approval as well. By Adam Graham Simon Cowell Photo: FOX There was no shortage of praise doled out by the judges on Wednesday’s (November 2) episode of “The X Factor,” with two performers hailed as budding superstars, one compared to a young Michael Jackson and a group praised as one of the world’s best bands. And those acts weren’t even considered the evening’s front-runners! Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s performances, and the compliments that followed: The Girls Following her rendition of the Eagles’ “Desperado,” Melanie Amaro was dubbed “the one to beat” in the competition by Cowell. Meanwhile, Rachel Crow’s take on “Walking on Sunshine” caused Scherzinger to compare the 13-year-old to Jackson 5-era Michael Jackson, and Drew — formerly known as Drew Ryniewicz — wowed the judges with her unorthodox take on Nelly’s “Just a Dream,” which prompted both L.A. Reid and Cowell to say the 14-year-old has the makings of a superstar. The Boys Chris Rene was surrounded by flames during his performance of the Carpenters’ “Superstar,” which Cowell said made it look like he was performing in hell. “That’s called fire, baby, ’cause he’s hot!” gushed mentor L.A. Reid. Elsewhere, pintsize rapper Astro’s blend of “Hip-Hop Hooray” and “Get Ur Freak On” — with original verses by the young MC — had Cowell praising his star quality and Scherzinger saying she wanted to take him to the club, while Marcus Canty’s mash-up of B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” and Bobby Brown’s “Every Little Step” had Paula Abdul calling him “a total performer.” The Groups The 10-member InTENsity took pieces of Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America” and LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem” and blended them into one “fun, fun, fun” performance, according to Reid, who echoed the other judges’ sentiments about the group. Lakoda Rayne’s vocals — especially their harmonies — were celebrated following their performance of “Landslide,” though Cowell attacked their choice of wardrobe, saying their gowns made them look like they were attending the prom. And the Stereo Hogzz kicked off the evening with a steroid-enhanced version of Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” that had Abdul calling them “fantastic” and had Cowell complimenting them by saying, “I don’t think there’s a band in the world right now who are as good as you.” Over 30s Burrito maker Josh Krajcik took on Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts,” and Cowell said the stark ballad came off as a song that Krajcik wrote himself. Mentor Scherzinger put it another way: “I feel like a proud mom, but we’re, like, the same age, so that doesn’t work.” Stacy Francis, after attempting a pop song last week, took ’em to church with “Up to the Mountain,” which was called “magical” and “a shining moment” by Abdul and called one of the evening’s best by Cowell, who let her kiss him onstage. And 60-year-old LeRoy Bell got decent marks for singing Lonestar’s “I’m Already There,” though Reid criticized the song choice and Cowell said he felt Bell had a confidence problem. On this night, that was about as harsh as the criticism would get. One finalist will be sent home on Thursday’s one-hour live episode of “The X Factor.” It was also announced on Wednesday’s show that “The X Factor” will return next year for a second season. What did you think of the top 12 on “X Factor”? Let us know in the comments!

Lindsay Lohan Sentenced To 30 Days In Jail

Judge allows Lohan to complete Playboy shoot before going to jail. By Gil Kaufman Lindsay Lohan arrives at the Airport Courthouse in Los Angeles on Wednesday Photo: Toby Canham/Getty Images Lindsay Lohan is once again headed back to the sadly familiar confines of the Los Angeles County jail. The troubled actress appeared in court Wednesday morning (November 2) and was sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating her probation for not attending court-mandated therapy sessions and getting tossed from a community-service gig. According to TMZ , Lohan admitted in court Wednesday that she violated the terms of her probation from a theft case by getting booted from her community-service assignment at the Downtown Women’s Center. Judge Stephanie Sautner was adamant that she would not put up with any more slipups from Lohan, telling her, “This is known as putting the keys to jail in the defendant’s pocket … the first time you violate, you will go to jail.” Lohan will have to serve 12 days at the Los Angeles County morgue — where she’s already been logging some time — and then attend four therapy sessions by December 14. Sautner warned that if Lohan does not meet all those conditions, she will put a warrant out for her arrest and sentence her to an additional 270 days in jail. Sautner revoked Lohan’s probation in October following the revelation that the actress had not completed her obligations from a 2011 arrest on theft charges . What do you think of Lindsay’s return to the big house? Tell us on Facebook! This time around, Lohan will not have the option of serving her time at home , and given the overcrowding situation in L.A. jails, she is only expected to serve 20 percent of the 30 days, or around six days. She has to complete another 12 days at the morgue and four psychotherapy sessions by January 17 and complete her community service (53 days total) and therapy obligations by March 29. If she successfully meets those obligations, her probation will be over. Shockingly, TMZ also reported that Lohan was not immediately sent to jail because Judge Sautner decided to give her time to complete her nude photo shoot for Playboy magazine. Lohan lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told the judge Lindsay must complete the shoot this week, which is reportedly netting her a cool $1 million. Lohan has one week to surrender and begin her fifth jail term, which is expected to start November 9. Florence And The Machine Return With ‘Enormous’ Ceremonials

Songs on sophomore album ‘all came out quite big,’ Florence Welch admits. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rya Backer Florence Welch Photo: MTV News Florence Welch circled the globe in support of Lungs, the breakout debut that transformed her from an unknown Brit into an internationally famous performer , a fashion icon and a rather unwilling superstar. Of course, along the way, she also managed to pick up a few souvenirs. “I have some chainmail at home; it’s a good look,” she laughed. “We got a sword as well, when we were in Glasgow once. There was a sign in a store that said ‘Sword Sale, 30 Percent Off.’ How could you resist? It was a sale.” We mention all that not because the image of Welch clutching a broadsword is sort of amazing, but to point out the whirlwind two years that followed Lungs ‘ release — and the fact that they were actually tame in comparison to the four years that preceded it. Welch recorded her debut whenever — and wherever — she could, working with a handful of different producers in fits and starts. The reason was largely economic, of course, a problem she didn’t face with the follow-up, Ceremonials, out in the U.S. on Tuesday. So when she finally wrapped up promotion behind her first album, she knew exactly where she wanted to record her new one — and who she wanted to do it with. “The first album, what I learned, for better or for worse, it was done over from the ages of 17-22, with a couple of different producers. Some of it was recorded in an old swimming pool, some of it was recorded in a synagogue — it kind of was all over the place,” Welch told MTV News. “And that made it the record it is, but for this one, I was very clear in the idea that I had of wanting to make something that sounded like a whole ; so it had to be one producer, one place, one period of time to make it a body of work.” Produced entirely by Paul Epworth (whose work on Adele’s 21 is probably playing on a radio near you right now), Welch and the Machine crafted an album that, though all over the place lyrically, is unified by one common theme: an all-encompassing, soul-engorging enormity — one that’s large enough to give even Welch pause. “They’re all pretty big,” she laughed. “They all came out quite big. I was slightly worried, because I was like, ‘All the sounds are enormous on this record.’ ” Will you check out Florence’s sophomore album? Let us know in the comments! Wale Bringing His Ambition To ‘RapFix Live’

Maybach Music rapper will join Sway on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on MTV.com to talk about his sophomore album. By Nadeska Alexis Wale Photo: Getty Images In February, Wale joined Rick Ross ‘ Maybach Music roster . Since then, the D.C. rapper has been counting down until the release of his sophomore album, Ambition , which drops Tuesday. This Wednesday at 4 p.m. on MTV.com, Wale will sit down with Sway on “RapFix Live” to give fans some insight into his state of mind, 24 hours after the project’s official release. In anticipation of the album’s debut, Wale has already rolled out the singles “Slight Work” featuring Big Sean and the title track “Ambition,” which features his MMG cohorts Rick Ross and Meek Mill . One of the most buzzed-about collaborations, however, is the Kid Cudi-featured “Focused,” which caused a splash thanks to a very public falling-out between the two rappers last year and an equally public reconciliation earlier this year. “When they kept talking about me and Cudi in every magazine, this is the record I felt like they needed to hear,” Wale told MTV News . “The one that everybody was going to get behind, and it was going to go top 40 and not be corny.” During his recent “Road to Release” series on MTV2’s “Sucker Free,” Wale revealed that he was much more selective about features this time around, including about half the amount of guests who appeared on his debut, Attention: Deficit. “We kept the features to a minimum because I wanted to give you more of me than I did on the previous project,” Wale explained. Attention: Deficit debuted in November 2009 — with features from artists such as Lady Gaga , Bun B and Gucci Mane — to a lukewarm reception. Some of the album’s lackluster performance on the charts was attributed to under shipment from Wale’s former label Interscope Records. Not one to be deterred, Wale followed up with the August 2010 mixtape More About Nothing , which became a trending topic on Twitter. This year, he scored a major hit with the single “600 Benz” from Maybach Music’s Self-Made Vol. 1 album, and he dropped another popular mixtape The Eleven One Eleven Theory in August. Tune into “RapFix Live” this week to hear what Wale has to say about his journey to Ambition. Tweet your questions for Wale @MTVNews with the hashtag #RapFixLive. Mobb Deep Set To Shake Up ‘RapFix Live’!

Tennessee femcee Gangsta Boo will also chop it up with Sway on Wednesday at 4 p.m. on MTV.com. By Nadeska Alexis Mobb Deep Photo: Bryan Bedder/Getty Images Last month, New York titans Mobb Deep exclusively revealed the cover art for their upcoming Black Cocaine EP on our RapFix blog. Now, Havoc and Prodigy are set to swing by MTV’s “RapFix Live” on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET to talk about the November release, which they’ll follow-up with their self-titled ninth studio album. The duo will chop it up with Sway about their latest projects, as well as their catalog of classic albums, including 1995’s The Infamous and 1996’s Hell on Earth. Those records ushered the two Queensbridge, New York, MCs to the forefront of the East Coast’s gritty street rap movement. And judging from the crowd’s reaction at this summer’s Rock the Bells Festival , hits like “Shook Ones II” haven’t lost much steam. But the Infamous Mobb Deep have been busy both in and out of the studio. Last month, Hav and Prodigy inked a new deal with Sony’s RED Distribution to release new projects via their Infamous Records imprint. And Prodigy is now a published author. After the release of 2006’s Blood Money, Prodigy served a stint behind bars , emerging this year with the controversial My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, a book that brought back a flood of memories from the heyday of mid-90s rap. M-O-B-B will share the “RFL” couch with Tennessee rapper Gangsta Boo, perhaps best known for her lyrics on Three Six Mafia’s 2000 album, When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1, as well as her own solo projects. In addition to a new feature alongside Eminem on “Throw It Up,” the explosive single from Yelawolf’s Radioactive album, Gangsta Boo is gearing up to release an EP with Drumma Boy in February. Mobb Deep and Gangsta Boo have earned reputations as outspoken MCs in the game, so tune into “RapFix Live” this week to see what they’ll reveal.
