BET Cancels Being Mary Jane After four seasons on-air, “Being Mary Jane” is making its exit. Gabrielle Union’s breakout hit drama has been canceled by the network, but they plan to give it a proper farewell with a 2-hour movie, set to air in 2018. Connie Orlando, EVP and Head of Programming at BET Networks released an official statement about the end of Mary Jane: “Being Mary Jane has been a landmark series not only for BET, but for African American women around the world who saw themselves in Mary Jane, her family, friends and coworkers. From the captivating storytelling, to the richly complex characters, to the powerful issues tackled on the series, we remain immensely proud. We are grateful to the cast and creators of Being Mary Jane, who have worked tirelessly to bring this world to vivid life over the past 4 seasons. We also thank the many loyal viewers whose hearts and minds were captured every week, and kept Mary Jane trending worldwide. We look forward to closing out Mary Jane’s journey with a series finale that is sure to blow fans away!” And the show’s star herself, Gabrielle Union, spoke about how transformative her role as Mary Jane has been for her. Survivor’s Remorse Canceled Fans of a Starz series will be sad to know that their Sunday night programming is coming to an end. “Survivor’s Remorse” the Lebron James produced series that followed “Power” has been canceled by the network. The show’s current fourth season that centers around basketball star Cam Calloway [Jessie T. Usher] will be its last according to The Hollywood Reporter who spoke with Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht. “We have been fortunate to work with incredible talents like Mike O’Malley, the executive producers and our cast on this very special show for four seasons,” said Albrecht Tuesday in a statement. “While this may be the end of the Calloways’ story, we do believe that the themes Survivor’s Remorse confronted over the seasons, through a unique mix of humor and sober observation, will be appreciated for the insightful, heartfelt way they were addressed. We are proud of the show.” The stars of the show have since taken to IG to thank fans for their viewership including Jessie T. Usher himself who told a heart-warming story about his audition. Nelly Arrested On Rape Charges Nelly has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman on his tour bus late Friday night/early Saturday morning. According to TMZ , a woman claims she was raped on the rapper’s tour bus in Washington state. Nelly has been turing Washington with Country band Florida/Georgia line and is set to have another performance later on tonight. The inciedent in question allegedly occurred Saturday morning at around 3:45 AM on Nelly’s bus. The woman specifically said that it was Nelly who forced himself on her. The rapper was taken in on second degree rape charges Saturday morning at around 7 AM, and remains in custody at this moment. We’ll follow this story and let you know more as it develops. TMZ caught footage of a photo shoot that featured a dashiki-rockin’ Colin Kaepernick surrounded by what appears to be a group of Black and Latinx kids in the famed NYC borough. You can clearly see that there is a frantic white woman who is trying desperately to block the camera’s view of this public photo shoot. It is reported that people on set were seen with GQ promotional materials. Is the style mag plotting a Kaepernick issue? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. While kickin’ it in Harlem, Kaep put his money where his mouth is (like he’s BEEN doing) and did some more good in the hood. We hope “they” are mad and stay mad.
