After one month of having completely natural hair, I have learned more and more about myself, how people perceive me, and how to care for my hair in its natural state. Although I doubted whether or not I could pull off an extremely short haircut, I went through with the big chop without tears or hesitation. And I was somewhat nervous to wear my short, coily hair in public, but I quickly overcame my fear. Chopping most of my hair off and publicly showing my teeny weeny afro has definitely added to my self-confidence. Hair, Makeup & Nails: The 8 Best Beauty Combos From The Fall Runways [PHOTOS] I’ve realized that if I emit confidence, others will respond in a generally positive way. People are attracted to the portrayal of strength and character; they admire it, regardless of how bold or crazy the hair, makeup, or clothes one wears. So not worrying about what others think has actually resulted in numerous compliments from friends, family, and strangers, which further encourage me in my natural hair journey. One month in, I have settled into a hair regimen that is simple, yet effective. By researching products and practices, I was able to adopt an easy routine that works well for me. I wash and condition my hair every 2-3 days. Afterward, I use a leave-in conditioner, essential oils, and a moisturizer to nourish my kinky, curly hair. Some days, I apply styling gel to wet hair to provide extra curl definition. How To Treat Summer-Damaged Hair Overall, I have no regrets, and I am happy with my decision to grow naturally textured hair. Though I can’t wait for my hair to grow longer, I am enjoying the ease, compliments, and self-assurance that come with my short and natural hair. After weeks of speculation over whether or not it would even air as scheduled, it looks like Bravo made the proper decision to premiere season two of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Monday night . From a ratings point of view, at least. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Premiere Clip The new episode was watched by 2.2 viewers, a 42% increase over last season’s opener. Moreover, the series enjoyed a 51% boost in the coveted demographic of 18-49-year olds. Most of the attention, of course, was due to the suicide of Russell Armstrong. A coroner reported yesterday that the late reality star did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his hanging.
It’s still under debate whether or not a 1948 “stag film” owned by Spanish events promoter Mikel Barsa actually contains footage of a young Marilyn Monroe , but buyers at an auction this weekend weren’t willing to take the risk. Barsa claims that the woman in the scratchy 6-minute film reel, unearthed in 1980, is Marilyn, or Norma Jean Baker as she was called then, masturbating and having sex with an unidentified man. But Barsa also claims that a 1996 letter from Alan Brown of the American Film Institute “proves” it’s her in the movie, while the letter, available online, actually says: It’s not clear whether the woman in the film is Marilyn Monroe — if not, she’s definitely a lookalike. Lookalike or not, Marilyn’s estate flat-out denies that the woman in the film is her, and Authentic Brands Group , the company that licenses Marilyn’s image for all those awful “playing pool with Elvis and Jimmy Dean in paradise” posters, went so far as to say Barsa is “perpetrating a fraud on the public, violating the Monroe estate’s exclusive rights to her image and other claims of intellectual property infringement”. Thanks to these harsh words, the “stag film” received no offers at an Argentinan auction this weekend, falling far short of its $480,000 expectations. You know, Mr. Barsa, Mr. Skin’s got a crack team of skin experts that would be slappy to review the reel. If anybody can crack this nude case, it’s Mr. Skin, so how ’bout you send US the footage? See Marilyn Monroe i n all her 37-23-36 glory with her nude roles in The Misfits (1961) and Something’s Got to Give (1962) right here at MrSkin.com!
Casey Anthony’s lawyer Jose Baez is reportedly at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York City, holding meetings with all of the major TV networks. NBC, ABC and CBS are all competing for the first interview with the accused child murderer, and you can bet HUGE dollar amounts are involved. Sources connected with the negotiations say there is a ” big price tag .” The networks don’t technically pay for interviews, however, they can offer to license photos and other material and pay whatever amount Baez asks. NBC, which is paying for Baez’s hotel room, looks like the frontrunner, but ABC is in the game, while CBS “is a distant third” to land the sit-down. Baez spent part of last night in the hotel bar with famed lawyer Mark Geragos, whose clients include or included Michael Jackson, Susan McDougal (Whitewater), Greg Anderson (BALCO), Winona Ryder, Scott Peterson and Chris Brown . Geragos, who is well-versed in high-profile cases and tricky negotiations such as this, reportedly gave Baez some advice in reaching a deal. Whether or not Casey Anthony is back in Florida already, it looks like she’ll only be in hiding – and flat broke – for so long.

A Tribe Called Quest doc director says he’d do another hip-hop film ‘if things lined up.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Kara Warner Michael Rapaport Photo: MTV News The controversy surrounding the documentary “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest” has not killed director Michael Rapaport’s hip-hop jones. The film has received rave reviews, and if given the chance, Rapaport told MTV News that he has his eye on a few other rap acts that he’d like to turn his lens on. “I would love to document De La Soul,” he said looking directly in the camera making his best pitch. Another group which Rapaport has interest in is Philadelphia hip-hop band the Roots. While the group has had a rotating cast since their 1993 debut, Organix, band leader and drummer ?uestlove, along with MC Black Thought and keyboardist Kamal have been mainstays. Multi-platinum producer Scott Storch was a one-time member, as was rapper Malik B. The Roots have released 10 studio LPs since the early 1990s, and of course, the Grammy-winning group are enjoying success as the in-house band for “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” “I would love to document the Roots; I think they have an interesting story,” Rapaport said. “I have a curiosity about them. Their musicality and their live performances I think would be great, and I have a feeling that there are stories behind each one of them.” After filming A Tribe Called Quest for his current work, Rapaport has went back and forth with group member Q-Tip. In light of the experience, when he visited “RapFix Live” in March, Q-Tip urged other rappers to tell their “own stories,” a concept that confused Rapaport . “I don’t know if he meant, ‘We’re from hip-hop, it should be a hip-hop director,’ ” the actor-director admitted to MTV News. “I don’t know who would go under the auspices of being a hip-hop director. Or if it was a racial thing like, ‘We’re black and shouldn’t have a white director.’ It was confusing to me.” As of now, Rapaport isn’t looking to do another rap film in the near future, but he wouldn’t turn it down if the opportunity presented itself. “Right now I’m taking a break from hip-hop documentaries,” he said. “But I would do it if things lined up.” Would you support a Michael Rapaport-directed Roots documentary?
