Aaliyah Album In The Works, Producer Says

Jeffery ‘J. Dub’ Walker, who worked with late singer, tweets about her ‘upcoming album.’ By John Mitchell Aaliyah Photo: Dave Allocca/Getty Images Fans of Aaliyah may be in for a treat, if one of the last producers to work with the late R&B superstar is to be believed. Jeffery “J. Dub” Walker, who crafted “I Refuse” and “What If” for the singer’s final studio album, 2001’s Aaliyah, tweeted Monday that a posthumous album composed entirely of previously unreleased material is in the works. Walker’s tweet has since been taken down, but Soul Culture managed to take a screen grab before it was pulled. “Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called ‘Steady Ground’ I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album,” Walker’s tweet read. Walker previously revealed to YouKnowIGotSoul.com that “Steady Ground” was intended to be included on Aaliyah but was left off due to technical problems with the recording. “It was really the first single after ‘Rock the Boat,’ but my engineer was mixing the record and somehow lost the vocals. So the vocals that you hear are really just the demo vocals,” Walker told the site. “The final vocals got erased, so yeah. So that’s why it didn’t make the album.” Aaliyah’s self-titled third album was released just a month before her tragic death in an August 25, 2001, plane crash in the Bahamas. She was heavily involved in her burgeoning acting career at the time of her passing, having just finished filming “Queen of the Damned,” so the amount of unreleased material available for a possible album remains unclear. A compilation album, I Care for You, was released in 2002. It featured some new material as well as many of Aaliyah’s biggest hits, including “Are You That Somebody,” “One in a Million” and “Try Again.” The singer had numerous film projects in the works at the time of her death. She’d already filmed a portion of her role in “The Matrix Reloaded” and was set for “The Matrix Revolutions”; she had to be replaced in the films by actress Nona Gaye. She was also set to play the title role in “Honey,” a part that ended up going to Jessica Alba. Finally, Aaliyah was attached to the remake of “Sparkle,” which was delayed after her death but filmed late last year with Jordin Sparks in the title role and Whitney Houston as her mother . The film will be released in August . According to Idolator , Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton, tweeted Tuesday (March 6) that “no official album [is] being released and supported by the Haughton family,” but he did not deny that her label and producers were working on the project. Bobbi Kristina: “Oprah Always Looked Out For My Mom”

Follow this link:

Why did Bobbi Kristina agree to do her first interview with Oprah since Whitney Houston’s death?  Some say it was to help Oprah’s struggling ratings on her OWN Network, others say it is for money. However, according to sources, the REAL reason is because Bobbi Kristina feels that Oprah is “trustworthy.” Bobbi is telling friends — Oprah “was loyal to my mom, and never did my mother wrong, or made her look bad. She always looked out for my mom.” As a result, we’re told Bobbi feels Oprah would show her the same respect — not bringing up issues that could potentially show Bobbi in a negative light … i.e. substance abuse. According to sources close to Bobbi, Oprah was one of the first people who reached out to her after Whitney passed. So far, it’s unclear if Bobbi is getting paid for the interview — which airs this Sunday. Source: TMZ

Whitney Houston Was In Debt At Time Of Death?

Go here to see the original:

A lot of things are starting to make sense and if these reports are true, it’s no wonder Whitney Houston’ s family sold footage of her funeral to the media and claimed it was for the financial benefit of Houston’s only child, daughter Bobbi Kristina . Despite selling over 200 million albums and singles throughout her career, Houston was reportedly broke when she died last month, and owed her label Sony Music tens of millions of dollars. While sales and downloads of Houston’s music increased soon after her death, which is often the case in these situations, her daughter won’t see any of the royalty checks until the debts are paid off and that could take quite some time. The Daily reports that when Houston signed a deal with Sony in 2001 for $100 million and six albums, her reserves were pretty much dry

It’s a dang shame when people can’t have privacy even after their death. Someone will always do something disrespectful which makes leaking Whitney Houston’s photo [in casket] a disgrace!! I’m furious that someone would have no regard for Whitney or her family. But thank goodness they found the person who sold the photos from the New Jersey funeral home  to the National Enquirer. SMH! Star Ledger reports: Carolyn Whigham, who owns and runs the funeral home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and two local pastors said although they do know who took the photo, they would not identify the person. “It’s up to the Houston family to release the name,” said the Rev. Jethro James, pastor of Paradise Baptist Church. Whigham said that although the Houston family has closed its inquiry into the matter, the funeral home had not. She said she would consider taking legal action.

Adele’s 21 Scores 22nd Week At #1

Fun. debut at #3, while Tyga lands at #4 with Careless World. By Gil Kaufman Adele’s 21 Photo: Columbia Records Surely someone is going to come along to knock Adele off her perch. But in the meantime, the Grammy-winning singer simply cannot be beat, as her 21 will notch its 22nd non-consecutive week at #1 next week thanks to sales of nearly 297,000, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan. And that’s with sales dropping almost 60 percent from her post-Grammy high . More than a year into her incredible run, Adele has sold almost 7.7 million copies of her second album in the U.S. Also holding strong was the Whitney Houston greatest-hits collection, which lost just 1 percent of its sales from the previous week, staying in the #2 position on sales of 174,000 in the second full chart week since the singer’s death . It was joined in the top 10 by the soundtrack to “The Bodyguard,” (#6, 47,000, up 176 percent) and her self-titled debut (#9, 30,000, up 72 percent). Among the debuts in the top 10 are: Fun. , Some Nights (#3, 70,000); Tyga , Careless World: Rise of the Last King (#4, 61,000); and Chiddy Bang , Breakfast (#8, 31,000). The rest of the top 10: Now That’s What I Call Music! 41 (#5, 54,000); Adele’s debut, 19 (#7, 39,000); and the 2012 Grammy Nominees compilation (#10, 29,000). Just outside the top tier, buzz duo Sleigh Bells rolled into a #12 debut with their second album, Reign of Terror and Grimes hit #98 with Visions (5,000). Over on the iTunes singles chart, Fun.’s hookup with Janelle Monae , “We Are Young,” was at #1, followed by Kelly Clarkson ‘s “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” The Wanted with “Glad You Came,” Katy Perry ‘s “Part of Me” and B.o.B ‘s “So Good.” The list was rounded out by Adele at #6 with “Set Fire to the Rain,” Nicki Minaj just behind with “Starships,” then Gotye with “Somebody That I Used to Know,” Chris Brown with “Turn Up the Music” and Carrie Underwood ‘s “Good Girl.” Adele easily kept the #1 spot on the iTunes album chart, followed by Tyga, Fun., Chiddy Bang, Houston, Sleigh Bells, Gotye’s Making Mirrors, Adele’s 19, Drake ‘s Take Care and the Beatles ‘ 1. Adele should be safe for another week as she pursues the magic 24-weeks-at-#1 mark, though the new album from Bruce Springsteen could provide a challenge. Otherwise, the fresh faces include Sean Paul , Estelle and Kid Cudi ‘s troubled WZRD project . Related Artists Adele fun. Tyga
