Ben Affleck’s acceptance speech after winning Best Picture for Argo at the 2013 Academy Awards Sunday night was an awesomely emotional mess. The actor, whose movie won top honors despite his personal snub in the Best Director category, was clearly choked up and caught up in the moment. Ben Affleck Oscars Speech Affleck, 40, recalled how he was “just a kid” when he last triumphed for Good Will Hunting , and how he’d been “knocked down” so many times since. The only important thing, he said through tears, is that “you gotta get up.” Then it got slightly awkward with his nod to spouse Jennifer Garner. “I want to thank my wife … for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases,” he said, stumbling over words as he addressed the mother of his three children. As if he were calling out his own marital problems, he added, “It’s good … it IS work, but it’s the best kind of work … and there’s no one I’d rather work with.” It was wonderful as a raw and honest moment, that’s for sure. Still, one wonders how the comment was received back at home at the end of the night. Was Jen surprised? Moved? Pissed? We will likely never know. Regardless, congratulations to Ben and his whole family!

I told her I needed to change. I had a close relationship with God and I changed. Now, my wife, has been with me over 18 years. We’ve been married 11 years. The best heart that you’ll ever know. She’s that type of person that’ll change your life. On why he cheated: It’s a difficult thing to do. Sometimes being married it makes you insecure dude. I looked like I had everything. It was scary, my wife is gorgeous. She might need somebody that’s smarter than me. It made me insecure. On his affair: With being insecure, with me being weak. I was so insecure and so down..I started messing with somebody that was beneath me. A bird. Evil. A liar. Somebody that was desperate and its just so pathetic. I mean, I didn’t have to feed this person no feed. I didn’t have to make her feel special, because she wasn’t. So that’s what it was. On the current status of his relationship with his wife: With the help of God, this situation has made my family tighter. Like tighter. I’m honest. I had to be honest with myself. And the hardest thing I had to do was tell my wife EVERYTHING. When I say everything. She looked at me so different. To look at my family. So you guys follow me on twitter. We’re good. We’re not great. I don’t know what happens from here. Now if we remain together, as a relationship, we’ll see. But as a family, nobody’s stopping us. I just want to tell you ‘I love you. You need more people sir… Drew Peterson Sentenced To 38 Years For Murder Of Kathleen Savio Via ABCNews Former Illinois cop Drew Peterson yelled, “I did not kill Kathleen!” during the sentencing phase of his trial today — and then a judge sentenced him to 38 years in jail for killing her. The sentence came after Will County Judge Edward Burmila denied Peterson a re-trial in the killing of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004. Peterson had faced as many as 60 years in prison. At his sentencing, after Peterson shouted that he did not kill his wife, someone in the courtroom yelled in reply, “Yes you did!” according to ABC News Chicago station WLS. Burmila then ordered that person to leave the courtroom. Peterson went on to claim that police “altered evidence” in his case and “intimidated witnesses and scared my children.” “I love Kathy,” he said. “She was a good mom. … She didn’t deserve to die.” Drew also said he planned to get a tattoo on his back reading “no good deed goes unpunished”. Drew might not have done any good deeds, but the victims’ families are more than happy to see him punished. Savio’s nephew Michael Lisak said afterwards that his aunt “can finally rest in peace.” “Today is a day for battered women, not just Kathleen Savio,” Lisak said. “Your voice will be heard. My aunt’s voice was heard through the grave. She would not stop. They will listen to you now.” Peterson’s sister Cassandra Cales had a blunt message for the newly convicted murderer. “Game over, Drew,” she said. “He can wipe the smirk off his face. It’s time to pay.” LMAO @ “Game over, Drew” Although Peterson was not convicted of killing his fourth wife, Stacy, hopefully this sentence will be bring some semblance of justice to her family as well. Congratulations are in order for Mario Lopez and Courtney Mazza: they are expecting once again! Said the 39-year old television host in a statement, confirming the news on behalf of his wife: “I am the happiest father in the world. We cannot wait to welcome baby Lopez number two into our lives.” Lopez and Mazza were married in December, about two years after Courtney gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Gia. Professionally, it’s unclear if Mario will return to host The X Factor , although most indications are that he will remain while Khloe Kardashian will be (rightfully) fired. In new court documents filed Tuesday, Kris Humphries brings up the Kim Kardashian baby in the room and wonders why his wife’s pregnancy should play any factor at all in this ex-couple’s ongoing divorce battle. Claiming his client should not be pressured to speed up the process, Marshall Waller writes : “What is really going on here is that an ‘urgency’ in the form of an apparently unplanned pregnancy, something [Humphries] had nothing to do with, is perceived by [Kim] as an opportunity to gain a litigation advantage by trying to force this court to prematurely set this matter for trial.” With Kardashian worried about her fetus due to this never-ending legal battle, Humphries’ team asks: “Why would [Kim] plan to get pregnant in the midst of divorce proceedings?” The divorce proceedings have dragged on for nearly a year-and-a-half now, yet Humphries is basically saying he doesn’t understand the rush to complete them. He also insists on present for Kim’s deposition… but his work schedule prevents this from happening until at least the middle of May.
