Last week, a preview for the new season of Teen Mom featured a moment that surprised many fans of the long-running MTV reality series. Tyler Baltierra to Catelynn Lowell: You’re Not Ready to Be a Mom! In the clip above, Tyler Baltierra fat-shames Catelynn Lowell , slamming his wife over the size of her meal moments after she stated that she’d like to rejoin Weight Watchers. So it’s not like Catelynn’s weight was a problem and she didn’t realize it. And considering Catelynn went to rehab for emotional issues shortly after the scene was filmed, it’s not like she was in such a stable place that such hurtful comments rolled right off her back. Nevertheless, Tyler is reacting to the situation in the fashion beloved by reality stars who have said something stupid on camera: Basically his response to pissed off fans is, Hey, I know I’ve spent my adult life cashing in on your interest in my personal life, but now that the attention has turned negative, can you stop? On Saturday, Baltierra revealed that he’s in therapy learning how to refrain from making the types of remarks he made, because apparently that’s the sort of thing one has to learn in therapy. Shortly thereafter, however, Baltierra had a message to fans who were upset by his remarks: “When your [sic] with someone for over 10 yrs your [sic] able to speak to each other openly & honestly. That’s how we communicate,” Baltierra tweeted. “We aren’t afraid to hurt each other’s feelings, because we know how strong our love for each other is> ” If that explanation is a bit TL;DR for you, it can basically be summed up as: “STFU, people who made me famous. That’s how I ‘communicate’ with my wife.” We initially thought therapy was a bit of an overreaction, but now we’re thinking Tyler could benefit from working on his communication skills. Back in March, Teen Mom: OG cast member Catelynn Lowell checked into rehab to be treated for depression and anxiety. In a recent interview, Lowell stated she's “not cured” but is doing better emotionally following extensive in-patient treatment. Catelynn's relationship with husband Tyler Baltierra is generally considered to be one of the most stable in the Teen Mom franchise. As is to be expected, Baltierra publicly and privately supported and visited his wife during her stay in an Arizona facility. So it came as a shock to many TM fans when a clip for the show's upcoming season showed Baltierra giving Lowell a hard time. Specifically, about what she's eating for dinner. The clip shows the 24-year-old Lowell revealing to Baltierra, also 24, that she's thinking about joining Weight Watchers again. Tyler is encouraging at first, but the conversation quickly turns casually ugly, as he ridicules her for the size of the meal she's eating. “That’s a big ass quesadilla, it has a lot of chicken,” Tyler says. “It’s your body, you could do what you want.” “Obviously I don’t want no heifer for a wife!” Yes, he actually said that. Kind of unreal. The conversation gets so nasty so fast that one of the show's producers – if you watch Teen Mom: OG online , you know that unlike Teen Mom 2 , OG often stylistically puts the MTV staff members on camera in a strange interplay with the cast – intervenes on Catelynn's behalf. “You come off so harsh sometimes,” the producer says. Baltierra, apparently oblivious to the seriousness of the situation, “I’m being honest! Would you want to be married to some big heifer?” NOTE: Tyler, take the lifeline next time it's offered. Baltierra and Lowell married in August of 2015, and have been the subject of many a #RelationshipGoals hashtag in the year since. They both survived difficult childhoods and unusual circumstances – they met because they are step-siblings, as fans know. Especially following the trauma of giving their first child for adoption, they've served as pillars of strength and support for one another. Like a lot of fans, I’m rooting for Shannen Doherty to win her battle against breast cancer. One more who is rooting more than anyone, though, is her mom, Rosa. “Sometimes there’s nothing like a mothers love to help get you thru,” Doherty captioned a black-and-white photo of herself in her mother’s arms. “Thank you mom for always being there and being so strong for me. I love you.” Doherty has been open with her battle in the hopes that it will offer comfort, inspiration and hope to others going through similar struggles . More than anything, it allows her fans to be with her every step of the way. “Chemo day. A day many of us dread,” Doherty shared in another Instagram. “Strength gets us thru but every once in awhile, you just want to hide in bed and let chemo day pass you by.” Earlier this month, Doherty confirmed that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. The 90210 star was diagnosed in March 2015 after her former management company did not pay her health insurance premiums, resulting in a delayed diagnosis. Last week, Doherty told Entertainment Tonight how she broke the news to her husband of five years, Kurt Iswarienko. Shannen Doherty Talks Cancer Treatment “I told him, ‘You need to enjoy every single second you have with me because I’m going to be dead in five years,’ and he just burst out in tears,” The Tennessee native recalled. Doherty was in the car when she decided to tell her husband over the phone, because she couldn’t wait until she got hom. “I called him, which was horrible of me,” she said. “I was in the car. I was with my mom, and the doctor called me and I’m, you know, ‘I’m going to wait until I see him,’ and I just couldn’t. So I picked up the phone and I called him and he was like, ‘Where are you?’” Once Doherty pulled into her driveway, Iswarienko wrapped his wife in his arms and told her that they were going to get through it together. “‘We are going to get through this, you’re strong and you’re powerful and you’re not going anywhere,” Doherty remembered the photographer saying. “‘You have so much to do in your life. We are going to get through it as a family.'” Doherty has no doubt that the diagnosis has strengthened their bond. “My marriage was always strong, but it’s made my marriage a thousand times stronger,” Doherty said. “I could not have gotten through this without my husband.”
Amber Heard would like to make something abundantly clear: She is NOT behind the leak of a damning Johnny Depp video that went public late last week. The actress, who is in the middle of a legal dispute with her estranged husband over his alleged abuse of her during their 15-month marriage, has released a statement just one day after ugly footage of Depp went viral. It may very well change your opinion of the veteran star forever. In the video (below), Depp is clearly agitated. He’s upset. He’s angry. He’s pouring himself a large glass of red wine and he’s screaming at Heard. The footage was filmed several months ago and it features Heard trying to understand what has Depp in such a state. They aren’t in the middle of a fight, Heard tells him, asking her husband how much he’s had to drink and wondering what has him going off this way. “Did something happen to you this morning?” Depp responds, while violently shutting cabinet doors and breaking glasses. He seems to be implying that he has every right to be in this mood because something bad happened to him and she just doesn’t understand. Depp even comes across her cell phone in “Record” mode toward the end of the footage. And this just makes Depp even angrier and more suspicious of his wife. But Heard has now told E! News that she isn’t the only who released this video online. “I am not responsible for the release of the video. It was not what I wanted and I am doing what I can to force the media to take it off the internet,” Heard says . “I underestimated the toll that this difficult few months have taken on me, emotionally and physically, and the efforts made by the media to intimidate and discredit me.” She continued: “It is for that reason, and my desire to make the healthiest choice for myself, and hopefully for Johnny, that I am attempting to resolve this matter in the most private way possible.” Insiders close to Depp have told TMZ that the video in question is “heavily edited,” claiming there are portions where Amber is smiling and “egging [Depp] on.” Earlier this month, Heard said she had proof that Depp hit her, a startling allegation she first made to the world on May 21 of this year. A judge recently postponed a scheduled divorce/domestic violence hearing between the stars until Wednesday in order to allow both sides more time to finish their depositions. If the case does end up going to trial, E! News reports that Heard’s witness list includes seven people, including close pals Raquel Pennington and iO Tillet Wright. Meanwhile, Depp’s list consists of 23 people, including his long-time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, who is also the mother of his two kids. Heard and Depp met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011. They got married in February of 2015. While sparks flew immediately between the actress and the actor, a source told People Magazine that there was always something “toxic” about their relationship. On May 27, Heard entered a Los Angeles courthouse with a black eye and filed for a temporary restraining order against the actor. She claimed at the time that he had been both “verbally and physically abusive” to her throughout the “entirety” of their relationship. It doesn’t made for a good marriage.” That seems to be clear. But did it make for a violent marriage? That’s a different question. And it’s question that may soon be answered once and for all in a court of law. What an ugly situation all around.
