Britney Spears ‘Completely Flattered’ By Two VMA Nominations

Spears received nominations for Best Choreography and Best Pop Video. By Christina Garibaldi Britney Spears Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic Britney Spears is no stranger to the Video Music Awards . She has so far been nominated 28 times, won four awards and has given us some of the most iconic VMA performances of all time. Who could forget her VMA strip-down in 2000 for “Oops! … I Did It Again,” her dance with a snake for “I’m a Slave 4 U” and, of course, her infamous “Like a Virgin” kiss with Madonna? This year, Spears looks to add to her list of VMA accomplishments with two nominations , one for Best Pop Video and one for Best Choreography for her hit Ke$ha-penned song “Till the World Ends.” MTV News recently caught up with Spears and broke the news of the nominations to the pop star. “Oh my goodness, I’m completely flattered,” Spears said. “That is amazing! Thank you so much for telling me. That’s awesome!” Spears will tackle some pretty stiff competition in both categories including seven-time nominee Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”) and four-time nominee Bruno Mars (“Grenade”) . But Spears isn’t concentrating on her competition, she’s just happy to be recognized. “I grew up listening to MTV. It’s just such an iconic thing to be able to participate in,” Spears said about the VMAs. “To even be presented an award is just so flattering and I’m honored. I’m excited.” Spears should be excited after such a big year. She released her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale , which reached #1 on the Billboard chart, she’s currently on the road for her summer tour , and now she has two more nominations to add to her already lengthy list of awards. So does Spears ever get used to all the VMA nominations? “Oh no, you never get used to that!” she said. Wiz Khalifa Calls VMA Nomination ‘A Good Sign’

‘Black and Yellow’ rapper says Best New Artist nominees ‘are all people who have their own movements.’ By Rob Markman Wiz Khalifa Photo: Raymond Boyd/ Michael Ochs Archives/ Getty Images Before Wiz Khalifa saw his career take flight, his hometown of Pittsburgh stood as a relative unknown on the hip-hop map. The Taylor Gang general’s breakout hit, “Black and Yellow,” changed that, and now Wiz is being rewarded with a Best New Artist nomination at the 2011 MTV VMAs . “It’s my first video, so I wanted to make it like that classic. You can’t do a first video over again,” Wiz said of the concept behind his popular video, which has raked in over 89 million views on YouTube. “When I think about stuff like that, I thought about Snoop’s [appearance in Dr. Dre’s] ‘[Nuthin’ but a] G Thang’ — like a real hometown-vibe video, things that really, really show the artist in their element. I figured if I went that way with it, then I couldn’t really lose.” Wiz is proud that he is able to rep for his town and said that being in the conversation with other big-time rappers like Lil Wayne and Drake helps him provide inspiration for Pittsburgh’s up-and-coming talents. “It’s good morale for Pittsburgh, because we never got that much love,” he said. “All of our artists have been known on a certain scene or a certain radar, but to be put up there with the greatest rappers and to have their own is really, really big for the city.” The Best New Artist competition is tough, however: Wiz is up against his tourmate, Big Sean (“My Last”), Kreayshawn (“Gucci Gucci”), Tyler, the Creator (“Yonkers”) and indie-pop band Foster the People (“Pumped Up Kicks”). “I think it’s really good competition, and it’s just a good sign of the new wave of how an artist can come up and get recognition these days,” Khalifa said. “Big Sean, I know his situation, how he came from nothing. Kreayshawn, she built her buzz similar with the Internet, and Tyler as well. These are all people who have their own movements.” While each Best New Artist nominee is different in their own right, Wiz finds a common thread that binds them: “All of us, we’re really just living our dreams and getting nominated for it, so it’s excellent.” You can vote for general VMA categories, including Best New Artist, by visiting vma.mtv.com or m.mtv.com on your mobile phone. Your Office is In Your Pants: 6 Trends Shaping The Way We Work

In 1985, in the Harvard Business Review Philip Stone and Robert Luchetti foresaw in 1985 at the birth of the wireless phone that the era of the Mad Men style office that you went to and sat at a desk was over; they noted that Your office is where you are. They were off by about 25 years; it takes time for technological innovation to percolate through and cause real change. They also didn’t go far enough, thinking only about the promise of being able to talk on the phone; now the technology is getting so small that your office isn’t just where you are, it’s in your pants.
