It’s a good thing Amber Heard has a movie career, because it looks like NBC’s The Playboy Club will be going cottontail up sooner rather than later. Not only did the show debut with a disappointing 5 million viewers (compared to Two and a Half Men ‘s 11.3 and The New Girl ‘ s 10.1), but now a former Playboy bunny is trashing the show in the pages (ok, the blog) of Vanity Fair . Marilyn Miller (pictured at left) worked at the Chicago, Los Angeles and New York Playboy clubs from 1961 to 1967, so she knows a thing or three about how things really went down: “I worked in the Chicago club, but the show is not really based on it, believe me. I’m so disappointed. None of those things happened, ” Miller told a VF reviewer. She went on to say that the Bunnies never danced with keyholders in real life (a key plot point in The Playboy Club ‘s first episode) and in fact customers weren’t even allowed to touch them. “I didn’t like the whole show. I thought it was cheap, it was degrading, it was demoralizing. It makes the Bunnies seem silly. You didn’t have time to stand around and flirt with the customers or talk to the other Bunnies or run around and get in trouble or have a smoke in the back alley. You were so busy. You worked! ” Miller also couldn’t resist getting a jab in at the TV bunnies’, uhm, ears: “And the costumes last night were terrible! They flattened the women out. None of the TV Bunnies looked like we looked. We looked very pretty, very endowed…Not one Bunny I know liked the show. Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop have all been sacked. Bravo cut these four women loose from The Real Housewives of New York City late last week. While readers try to control their tears as a result of this development, a couple of the show’s now-former stars have spoken out about the firing. “I view any change as an opportunity to learn and grow,” said Barshop profoundly. “RHONY was great marketing platform for my national spa Completely Bare, and as an ambassador for children’s charities I was able to create more awareness. There are additional projects that I am considering. Stay tuned.” Oh, we will… NOT! Alex McCord and Simon van Kempen also took the opportunity to plug a product, telling Us Weekly : “After four seasons on Real Housewives of New York City, Simon and I are moving on. Guess you’ll have to rewrite that now – because I won!” – Neal Schon to The Daily Beast , regarding a recent book on Michaele Salahi White House party crasher / reality star Michaele Salahi has stirred up quite a lot of gossip and controversy lately, and her husband, Tareq Salahi , has already spoken out about her running off with the Journey guitarist. Now she’s telling her side of it. Short story: It’s all true, and she’s happy. The cheaters spoke to The Daily Beast exclusively in a series of interviews, via telephone and text, as Schon’s band continues on its cross-country tour. “It’s like a fairy tale. It is, it really is,” Schon said from Tampa. “I’m very happy, very happy after waiting for her for 15 years. Now I want to get beyond all this media hype that Tareq has put out there. It’s quite embarrassing.” Michaele actually dated both Neal and Tareq in the late ’90s (Neal first) and there came a time she had to make a life decision – to marry Tareq. “I chose Tareq over Neal because I thought life would be less stressful living on a vineyard in Virginia. Life on the road with a rock band … well, I thought I might not have been able to keep up,” said Michaele, who suffers from MS. Yet Michaele made it clear she still had deep feelings for Neal. Fast forward to this summer. Just 10 days after they saw each other backstage at a Journey concert in Bristow, Va., she had run off with him for good. How? The couple now admits they had been communicating via text “for a while” over a device that a friend had sneaked to Michaele so the controlling Tareq wouldn’t find out she had a pipeline to the outside world. “Neal was like, ‘Are we going to do this forever?’ I said, ‘No, we’re not,’” Michaele said of the moment she realized it was time for another life decision. That was when she knew she would leave her husband for good: “I began to see he really loved me. I had to begin to feel it completely – in my soul.” Neal sent tickets and backstage passes to the Salahis to come to Journey’s Labor Day concert being held just 20 miles east of their home in Linden, Va. In what can only be described as painful irony now, the ever-sociable Tareq showed up backstage with a video camera, Michaele, and her friend Irina. He urged the women to surround Neal and kiss him, “Ahhh. There you go! Hugs and kisses for Neal!!! Rock on, Journey!” Tareq says in the background. Tareq would later supply that video to TMZ in an effort to humiliate his wife, along with an alleged pic of Neal’s penis he says that the rocker emailed. Tareq had no way of knowing the precise details of Michaele’s affair with Neal Schon , or exactly what happened just moments ago in his dressing room. But if he did any idea, he didn’t show it. “What happened was … she takes off her wedding ring, OK, right in front of Tareq – takes it off,” Neal told The Daily Beast, sounding astonished. “And then she proceeds to come into my dressing room where I’m sitting down. I have tennis shoes on and she’s, like, nine feet tall over me.” Neal’s voice took on a joyful tone: “And she looks down at me like she’s standing on stilts and says, “I love YOU. And, that’s never gonna change.” “When that happened I said, ‘Get over here! This has taken 15 years!’” The night of the concert, September 4, Neal urged Michaele to just get on the tour bus with him. “I was pretty close to doing it,” Michaele said. “But then I thought, No, that’s not who I am. That would be public humiliation for Tareq.” And so, she went home with her husband that night. Nine days later, Michaele realized she couldn’t stay. “I didn’t want to hurt anyone, but I realized I was hurting myself,” she said. “I was absolutely going crazy. Because when you want to be with someone that bad, you start to go crazy. He sent someone to come get me.” “I got on a plane by myself and I just went. The reason I married my husband is because I thought I was doing the right for our son, knowing how I felt for her. I’ve tried fixing things with my husband. We’ll do good for awhile, but then we’ll be back at square one not getting nothing right. Then, I find myself back with her because things gets done, like family things should be and done with a partner. I just hurt knowing that I grew up with my dad and he showed his girls how a man treats a woman, a real man. I thought that’s what I had and I’m tired of waiting on him to get there, especially knowing that I can get that on the other side. You’re a woman trapped in denial of who she really is, and because you’re probably afraid of what your family, friends, or whomever will say about you, you keep this charade and this façade up by remaining in a one-way selfish marriage. Then you claim that you’ve talked to your husband about what’s wrong but it goes in one ear and out the other. Hmmm, let’s see. Did you tell him you that you’re cheating? Did you tell him that you’re a lesbian? Did you tell him that in order to fix what’s wrong with your marriage is actually to get a divorce? Has it occurred to you that you lied to him? You manipulated him. You deceived him. You led him to believe that he was marrying a woman who loved him, solely, and monogamous. Now, you tell me who’s really at fault. You tell me if he can really and truly fix what’s wrong in your marriage when it’s clearly you that is the problem. I wish I could come through this computer and knock you upside your bald ass head. I had to stop and laugh because I’m certain you’re walking around with a wife-beater on, some Timbs, and grabbing your crotch looking like Cleo from the movie Set It Off , yet your husband is clueless to all the signs blaring right in front of him. Why does he like the spunky Alaska native? “Cause she’s rad. She’s shrewd. She’s cool. In a small office at the EMI building in NYC after being served sushi, dumplings and Sake, bloggers, press and media gathered to listen to Tyrese’s fifth album Open Invitation . The room, adorned with red candles centered on a black piano, gave off an intimate vibe. We huddled in close, some sitting on the floor and some lucky souls in chairs. Tyrese greeted us very personally asking that we do not record the music he was going to play for us, informing us that he had an incident the night before. With a half-empty glass in his possession, he introduced what he called “my proudest work to date.” We listened attentively as he filled us in on his journey back to music! “My mentor said something to me, back when I decided to give music a quick break, he said ‘If you want to make God laugh tell him your plan’.” Tyrese struck Box Office success with the “Transformers” series, “Fast & Furious” franchise and “Legion.” Though very profitable, music was calling Tyrese’s heart. “A revelation came to me, you got four weeks of nothing to do- which never happens. I got a hold of about 14 people, singers, songwriters and producers and I flew them in town. All brand new unestablished producers that I had never worked with specifically but I had worked with indirectly. I was like these are on the folks that are on the list that God sent me, they were all sleeping at my house. We banged out my whole album in four weeks. I had five different production stations set up throughout my house, it became like the old Motown, I called it R&B boot-camp” Tyrese has strayed from the love ballad/baby-making music maven we have come to love. He attributes his new musical focus on “Benjamin Button syndrome.” The new album is more upbeat and better fit for a cool night out on the town rather than the bedroom–which is exactly what he was going for. “If you listen to songs like “Lately,” I’m 32 now I can sing a song like that now, because I actually do know about love Ive been madly in love before. I have a child but when your 20 years old singing ‘Have I told you I love you?’ it’s a very mature adult contemporary. When I had “Lately” out, Usher had “You Make Me Wanna.” He’s actually doing music his age. He’s in the video dancing, I’m [in the “Lately” video] in all white on the piano making out on some extra grown man sh*t. As soon as I leave the video[set] I’m like ‘man I don’t want to do this sh*t.’ Now that I’ve gotten older I know what I want to look like. I know what type of songs I want to sing. I know what type of songs that move me! My favorite of the tracks played was “I’m Home.” The hard-hitting but mid-tempo beat was the sexiest of the bunch . “ One Night” was very reminiscent of Trey Songz “Invented Sex,” which isn’t a bad thing! “Best In Me” was also a favorite, followed by his first single “I Got A Chick “ featuring Rick Ross and R.Kelly. His current single “Stay” follows the typical R&B rules but because of Tyrese’s strong vocals, is elevated to another level. Though I loved a few songs (so far) on “Open Invitation,” being the R&B fiend I am, I was hoping for another “Lately” or “How You Gonna Act Like That.” Open Invitation doesn’t deliver that but does offer a more modern Tyrese with less the love.
