Hey, at least a drama on NBC is receiving attention. Multiple women’s groups are taking issue with that network’s The Playboy Club , a new series that premieres on September 19 and focuses on the exclusive, 1960s-based establishment in the title. The Playboy Club Promo The San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women, for example, urges NBC and its affiliates to “replace the program with a series that depicts women’s substantive achievements,” as President Kay Gulbengay says it’s an “insult to the legacy” of civil rights leaders to air The Playboy Club (while admitting she hasn’t watched it). Poor Taylor Armstrong allegedly started carrying on a lesbian affair with another “Real Housewives” cast member just days before her estranged hubby hung himself. According to National Enquirer reports : The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Taylor Armstrong had a lesbian fling just FOUR DAYS before her estranged husband Russell committed suicide, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively. Russell, a 47-year-old venture capitalist, was found hanging at a residence in Los Angeles on Aug. 15. But just days earlier, Taylor, 40, was whooping it up with “Real Housewives of Orange County” cast member Fernanda Rocha. The two were spotted dirty dancing and kissing passionately at a Newport Beach, Calif., fashion show Taylor co-hosted on Aug. 11. Fernanda, who is openly gay, is a personal trainer to several of the “Orange County” housewives and has appeared on several “RHOC” episodes. Sources say she and Taylor hit it off immediately after meeting at a Beverly Hills charity event in June. “They were physically attracted to each other, but Taylor was still working on saving her marriage to Russell at the time,” said an insider. “And Fernanda didn’t want any part of breaking up their marriage.” The women exchanged numbers and texted back and forth over the next few weeks, but Taylor never mentioned that she was divorcing Russell. She finally filed on July 15, then ran into Fernanda at the August fashion show. “Taylor and Fernanda were batting their eyes at each other all night long,” said the insider. “And after Taylor’s hosting duties were over, the two hit the dance floor. “They were dirty dancing and bumping and grinding, and neither seemed to care who saw them.” Later in the evening, Taylor, Fernanda, fellow “Orange County” housewife Peggy Tanous – Taylor’s event co-host – and a few others went to the exclusive Mastro’s Ocean Club in Newport Beach to continue the party. “Taylor and Fernanda sat together at the restaurant and were grabbing each other under the table all night long,” revealed the insider. “They were whispering in each other’s ear and giggling, only paying attention to each other.” According to the source, the women left the restaurant holding hands and got into Fernanda’s Lexus SUV, where they kissed passionately for several minutes before driving off to The Quiet Woman, another restaurant in nearby Corona del Mar. “They practically closed down the restaurant,” said the insider. “After a lot more groping and kissing, Fernanda drove Taylor back to her car.” The women made plans to see one another again, but sadly, because of the circumstances, their reunion took place at Russell’s private funeral service on Aug. 24 at Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. In case you missed it, the editors at Vogue Italia lost their rabbit a** minds last week and promoted a trend they called “Slave Earrings” . They even included a description that included the sentence “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of color who were brought to the southern United States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom.” When the world reacted appropriately to the ridiculousness, Vogue.it changed the caption on the article to “Ethnic Earrings”… as if that made it better. Their editor even tried to claim that the word they used in Italian that was translated to “Slave” really did mean “ethnic style”… And if you think that’s pure bulls***, Iman agrees with you. I’m a huge fan of Franca Sozzani and Vogue Italia’s website because they have a whole section on black models. Is it controversial? Yes. The naming of it, I don’t get it. I sometimes wonder in this age of reality shows has it become part of the language-the more controversy the more [buzz] it creates. But yeah, I didn’t like it. Slave does not make it ethnic. Mind you, it’s not lost in translation-the word slave, we know what it is. They might as well have called them “n**** earrings.” For somebody like Franca Sozzani, who did that whole black issue for Vogue, somebody should have said something.
