For Discussion: Should Sergi-Ho “I Wanna Serve Tiger Woods Fried Chicken” Garcia Be Dropped By TaylorMade-Adidas For Racist Comments?

Reebok dropped Rick Ross over rap lyrics , should Sergio Garcia’s dumbazz comments cost him a $5 milli a year endorsement deal with TaylorMade-Adidas? Via NYPost reports : A contrite Sergio Garcia sat before reporters in a hastily convened press conference yesterday in England and issued a public apology for racially insensitive comments he made about Tiger Woods at a European Tour awards dinner the night before. Garcia, whose feud with Woods became highly public and seemed to reach a boiling point two weeks ago when they clashed at The Players Championship, was jokingly asked at the dinner if he would invite Woods for dinner during the U.S. Open. In an attempt to deliver a funny response, Garcia said, “We will have him ’round every night. We will serve fried chicken.” The remark ignited a firestorm because of its racist connotations and led to Garcia’s apology. What kind of financial backlash ensues for Garcia is yet to be known, but his most prominent and highest-paying sponsor is TaylorMade-adidas Golf, and the company issued a rather open-ended statement that left the petulant Spaniard hanging. “Sergio Garcia’s recent comment was offensive and in no way aligns with TaylorMade-adidas Golf’s values and corporate culture,’’ the statement read. “We have spoken with Sergio directly and he clearly has regret for his statement and we believe he is sincere. We discussed with Sergio that his comments are clearly out of bounds and we are continuing to review the matter.’’ A TaylorMade source told The Post that Garcia earns slightly more than $5 million per year in his endorsement contract. Asked how “continuing to review the matter’’ should be interpreted, the source said it is possible the company would make a more definitive statement “by the end of the week.’’ The source, echoing what much of the sentiment around golf is, said, “[Garcia] says stupid things sometimes, but he is not racist. He’s just dumb sometimes, not a bad guy.’’ Garcia attempted to back up that notion with his profuse apology at Wentworth, where he is playing in the BMW PGA Championship. “To start with … I didn’t mean to offend anyone,’’ Garcia said. “I obviously was caught off-guard by the question, but I understand that my answer was totally stupid and out of place. I can’t say sorry enough about that. “I’d also like to say sorry to the European Tour and my Ryder Cup teammates for taking the shine away from what was a wonderful players’ awards dinner that we all thoroughly enjoyed until that moment. “Obviously, finally and most importantly I want to apologize to Tiger and anybody that I could have offended by the comment that I made and just say that I feel sick about it and I’m truly, truly sorry and I hope that we can kind of settle things down and hopefully move on.’’ Garcia said he reached out to Woods via his agent, Mark Steinberg, to apologize in person. “I don’t have [Woods’] phone number’’ and Steinberg “didn’t pick up.’’ Garcia insisted that his remark “wasn’t meant’’ to have any racial implications. “As soon as I left the dinner, I started getting a sick feeling in my body,” he said. “I didn’t sleep at all last night, felt like my heart was going to come out of my body. I’ve had this sick feeling all day. Unfortunately, I said it. I wish I didn’t do it, but the only thing I can do is say sorry.’’ Garcia said he was not aware of the similarly insensitive Fuzzy Zoeller comments made about Woods at the 1997 Masters (when Garcia was 17) until he was informed yesterday. After Woods won the Masters in 1997, Zoeller said, “You pat him on the back and say congratulations and enjoy it and tell him not serve fried chicken next year [at the annual champion’s dinner]. Or collard greens or whatever the hell they serve.” In that fallout, Zoeller immediately lost his highest paying endorsement contract (K-Mart) and was skewered so severely that his career was never the same again. The next time Garcia and Woods will play in the same tournament together will be at the U.S. Open next month at Merion. The difference is that Rick Ross failed to apologize — Sergio seems to be remorseful, but is it only because of the repercussions? What do you think TaylorMade should do? WENN

Amanda Bynes Claims She Coined "LOLOLOL," Drake is Hot

Amanda Bynes is Tweeting up a storm lately, and making less sense than ever. Among other gems, she says that she coined the phrase “LOLOLOL.” Is she saying she’s responsible for “LOL” as well, or just adding “OLOL” onto the end? We may never know … which is true of most things with her. In addition to a great shot of her boobs (we assume they’re hers, anyway), Bynes has also shared other random, often puzzling Tweets of late: “Drake is a hot fellow.” “Baby corn and fried tofu.” “I created the phrase Ily and lololol. Proud.” “He’s Rocking That Incest Face.” (Not clear who he is) “When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You know that your name is safe in their mouth.” (Good to know) “SoCks.” (with a photo of her socks) “You are you who date.” (deep) “If I’m not following you on twitter, I hate you.” (no offense taken)

Lindsey Vonn: Not Freaked Out By Tiger Woods’ Past, Went Public Because of Paparazzi

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn went public with their romance to foil the paparazzi, according to the golfer, while she is not freaked out by his sordid past. Ever since their simultaneous Facebook posts and photos confirmed what we suspected – Lindsey Vonn dating Tiger Woods – many have wondered: Why would the Olympic skiing gold medalist go for a man whose epic, marriage-ending sex scandal made him the poster child for whom not to date? Apparently, the answer is not all that complicated. “Tiger makes Lindsey happy,” says one of her friends. “She isn’t concerned what others think. She trusts her instincts. She’s comfortable with the relationship.” “They have sat down and talked it out more than once. He has explained his side and owned up to what he did wrong. He has been very honest with her.” “She’s not freaked out by his past.” A source close to Woods, 37, says the golfer has been open with Vonn, 28 about his past, which she once joked about during the scandal’s peak. Rumors of a relationship heated up early last month, when Woods sent his private jet to fly Vonn home to Vail, Colo., after a crash on the slopes. The crash at the Alpine World Championships in Austria left her with torn knee ligaments and a fractured shin – but more time with her man at least. Woods, who was at Vonn’s side during her surgery after flying her home, “has been really supportive as she recovers from her injuries,” says a pal. As for the public proclamation of their love, which would’ve been unthinkable a few years ago for Tiger, he said in an interview that it was for the best. “I’ve had situations where it’s been very scary, dangerous for my kids and the things, the extent they’ll go to,” Woods said of undercutting the paparazzi. Also, part of him delights in sticking it to the paps. “We basically devalued the first photos and, unfortunately, that’s just the way it is in our society right now and we felt this was best thing to do.” Most importantly, though, he’s just more comfortable with who he is these days. “It’s simple,” he says of the decision to go public. “We’re very happy.” What do you think? Will it last? Is Tiger a changed man?   I think so. Give him a chance! I think not. Once a cheater … View Poll »

Rachel Uchitel-Tiger Woods Affair: Happy Three-Year Anniversary!

Who can ever forget Thanksgiving 2009. On November 25 three years ago, The National Enquirer reported that Tiger Woods was having a secret, torrid affair with NYC nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel . Then, around 2:30 am on November 27, Woods peeled out of his home in his Cadillac SUV and crashed into a fire hydrant, a tree, and some hedges on his street. He was treated for minor injuries and ticketed for careless driving. In a statement, he called it a “private matter” and credited his wife for helping him out of the car. Soon, we would learn that Woods’ then-wife, Elin Nordegren , had found out the Enquirer report was true just moments earlier, and chased him with a golf club. You can’t make this stuff up. Uchitel, who had also been linked to Bones ‘ David Boreanaz that same year, was Tiger’s #1 mistress, but over a dozen more came out of the woodwork. Cocktail waitresses, porn actresses, random girls, you name it. None could hold a candle to Rachel Uchitel, but all held plenty of Tiger Woods at one point. Tiger Woods eventually came clean about his affairs, and after a brief sabbatical from the sport he dominated, returned to pro golf in the spring of 2009. He went to rehab for sex addiction as well as couples’ therapy, but it’s hard to save a marriage after betrayal on that scale. Also hard to salvage? His mojo. Though he had a terrific 2012, he has yet to win a major championship since the crash. Uchitel got married and had a baby (not Tiger’s), while the former Elin Nordegren Woods became one of the hottest and richest divorcees on the planet. There are many more sordid details – trust us, we covered them all at length – but the rest, as they say, is history. A history full of sexting Joslyn James .

Victoria Jackson on Obama Reelection: Evil FTW!

SNL alum and Tea Party member Victoria Jackson will see Donald Trump’s rant and raise you an extra dose of post-President Obama reelection bitterness. “America died,” she tweeted last night. “I can’t stop crying. America died.” Apparently displeased with the 2012 election results , she went on: “The Democrat party who voted God out of their platform and adopted Romans 1 as their platform won. In the Good vs. Evil Battle, today… evil won.” Jackson, a devout Christian, then did the Christian thing and ripped Christians. “Thanks a lot Christians, for not showing up. You disgust me,” she wrote. Amen?

Billy Ray Cyrus Teases Trio of Miley Cyrus Weddings

Billy Ray Cyrus debuted on Broadway Monday night, coming on board the latest production of Chicago. And the singer was in a joking mood afterward when asked by Us Weekly about his daughter’s engagement to Liam Hemsworth . “Liam asked if he could have my daughter’s hand in marriage, and I said yes if I could be in his brother’s next movie,” Billy Ray said , referring to Chris Hemsworth and his very successful run of Thor , The Avengers and Cabin in the Woods . The country star then continued to play around, but revealed something very real and interesting in the process: “Now, they [Miley and Liam] are going to have three weddings, so I’m thinking one movie with Chris, then we got the sequel to Liam’s new movie [ Hunger Games: Catching Fire ] coming out. They have got three weddings, that has to be three movies for me.” Three weddings?!? Who does Miley think she is, Kim Kardashian ? In all seriousness, though, Cyrus said he was recently inspired by Indianapolis Colts Coach Chuck Pagano , who is battling cancer and whose locker room speech last week went viral. Said Billy Ray: “He told his team he wanted another Super Bowl trophy and he had two daughters he wanted to walk down the aisle. When I saw that last night, this guy that’s battling Leukemia, and the fact that he is talking to his team saying, ‘I want to hoist that trophy and walk my daughters down the aisle.’ I immediately texted Miley and said, ‘I just want you to know, whenever you’re ready, I’m going to be very proud to walk you down that aisle.’ She was like, ‘Daddy!’ with two smiley faces! That coach and that moment touched me.” Okay. Now we need a Kleenex.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Talks The Possession, ‘Horrendous’ Child Actors, And The Rut

How do you get in touch with Jeffrey Dean Morgan , who lives with his family far outside the confines of Hollywood “in the woods,” to ask him to be in your film? If you’re like The Possession director Ole Bornedal, you go old school. “The script was sent to me with a really nice letter that Ole had written asking me to be a part of it,” Morgan told Movieline. “It sat on my desk for a couple of days, but I kept reading this letter.” Eventually Morgan read the script and, enticed by the familial relationships at the center of the demonic possession tale, got over his reluctance to take on the “overdone” horror genre to play a father desperately trying to reconnect with his daughter — and, in the process, save her from an evil spirit. In this weekend’s The Possession Morgan plays Clyde Brenek, a career-focused college basketball coach whose pending divorce is taking a heavy toll on his two young daughters, one of whom — Em (Natasha Calis) — has formed a strange attachment to an antique Jewish box found at a yard sale. (The film is inspired by the real life account of the Dybbuk Box, a Hebrew wine cabinet allegedly haunted by an evil spirit which reigned down terror and ill fortune on multiple owners.) Movieline caught up with Morgan last month at Comic-Con , where the Watchmen veteran planned on walking the floor to find geek treasure for his son (“Sometimes it gets a little unruly for me down there, but I dig this world”), marveled at the maturity of his young co-stars (“I’ve worked with kids that are just horrendous, and it’s mostly because of their parents”) and discussed Karyn Kusama’s The Rut , in which he’d play dad to Chloe Moretz’s teenage huntress. What made you want to jump into a story like this? Because it was an actual story . I certainly wasn’t looking to do a horror movie — I think they’ve been kind of screwed up lately, all the found footage, it’s just been kind of overdone. The script was sent to me with a really nice letter that Ole [Bornedal] had written, asking me to be a part of it. I didn’t read the script; I was like, ‘Oh God, it’s a horror movie — it’s just not what I’m looking to do.’ It sat on my desk for a couple of days, and I kept reading this letter. What did it say? It was just very sweet and complimentary about my previous work, and it was really well-written. Do you get a lot of those letters? Sometimes! I guess I do, because I’m never around. I live in the woods, so really the only way you can get to me is if you send a letter. You’re like Bill Murray ! [Laughs] I love Bill Murray, but I’m not quite Bill Murray. I wish! So you got a letter from Ole. So, I got this letter — and I read the script and I was like, “Crap, this is a really good script.” The story’s there, it’s really character-driven, it’s not a typical horror movie. Demonic possession is its own storied subgenre within horror. What set it apart, beside the dybbuk aspect? I guess it’s a little Jewish. But I think it was the dynamic of these characters that sets it apart. The only way this movie works, the only way any movie works, is if somehow the audience can get invested in these characters. And again, I don’t know if this genre has capitalized on getting to know characters very well. I think this movie had that aspect to it. Then I watched a couple of Ole’s films and thought, this guy has a singular look that I haven’t seen. Him and his DP are so good at setting a mood and knowing where to put a camera — and you’d think all directors know this stuff but they really don’t, it’s a crap shoot. I felt like you really knew what he was doing behind the camera. I had a couple of conversations with him on the phone. He was like, “Don’t think of this as a horror movie,” and what he saw and what I saw were really meshing. You’ve played a lot of fathers, but here so much rides on finding the right young co-star. That was the other key for me — how are you going to find this little girl? You’re asking a lot of any actor, much less a young actor, to make this believable. Her performance is what makes this movie work or not work. He sent me a DVD of an audition/work session that he’d done with her, and only after I saw that did I agree to do the movie. I saw that audition and was like, holy God, this girl is something. And she really is something. The stuff she pulled… was amazing, and I don’t know how she did it and what kind of life experience she has to be able to draw from. It was terrifying to act opposite of. I guess that helps? Yes, but I was really worried for Natasha, going into some really dark places. For one, I didn’t know where she was going and getting this darkness. How old was she at the time? She was 11. Eleven! So it kind of blew my mind. Did you draw on your own life experience, being a father yourself, to tap into your character? Yeah. I love kids, which helps. And the opportunity to be the dad to Natasha [Calis] and Madison [Davenport] in this film, they were such great little girls and had such great senses of humor. They didn’t take themselves too seriously and they were actually little girls. Instead of miniature grown-ups? Yeah! I can hear her talk now and she’s grown up a lot since I last saw her, but she was just a kid! An eleven-year-old kid who was just a kid. She wasn’t some actor-y [child performer]. And Ole gave us an opportunity to not just stick to the page, so I was able to infuse some humor and other stuff that maybe wasn’t there, that kind of shows the father-daughter relationship, especially going through the divorce that my character is going through. So there are just some really real moments in this movie that were my favorite things to film. Natasha was so great at falling into that, I think I learned from her somehow. I thought I was going to have to be babysitting a kid, but she was probably more babysitting me. I’m just truly blown away by what she did and I give a lot of credit to her parents for raising her – I’ve worked with kids that are just horrendous, and it’s mostly because of their parents. [Laughs] Off- and on-camera. But off, yeah. They’re little beasts! Little holy terrors. And you always worry about that, you know? There’s that rule, don’t work with kids and animals. There’s a reason for that! But it was great, it was truly great. I think the relationship we formed between takes and off-camera really shows on screen. How would you describe Sam Raimi ’s influence as a producer on The Possession ? He’s sort of the innovator. I don’t know how much, but Sam would get the dailies after the first week and the notes stopped. I know that Sam was prepping his Oz movie at that time and he was watching the dailies, but all the feedback we were getting from Sam was really positive. He just sort of oversaw from afar. You have so many upcoming projects! Do you foresee any of them bringing you back to the genre fold again, the Comic-Con fold? None of them, really –— which means I need to find another one so I can come back! Maybe they’ll do something with the Watchmen stuff, the prequel stuff. Maybe we’ll get to do something there. You’re attached to a Karyn Kusama project called The Rut , which would be one of multiple projects with Chloe Moretz. I’m very excited about that. That’s one of those countless movies that you’re just waiting for all the pieces to come together, finances and all that, but I’m so thrilled to be working with her and Chloe, who I’ve done a couple of things with already. Chloe has established her reputation as the preeminent young lady ass-kicker. That’s exactly right! She’s doing Carrie now. She’s amazing, Karyn is amazing, and I think they got Ray Liotta to be the heavy in this. It’s a really cool script. It’s Winter’s Bone meets… Hanna , maybe? A little bit of Hanna ! I loved that movie, by the way. Good one. But I’m very excited about this movie. We need a winter location in the woods somewhere. Well, you do live in the woods. I know, and don’t think I haven’t said it! Because I do actually know where we could shoot this movie… The Possession is in theaters today. Read Movieline’s review here . Katy Perry: ‘It’s Time For Me To Go The F— Away’

‘I want to go and write songs in the woods or something,’ she tells MTV News about her next move. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Katy Perry and MTV News’ Christina Garibaldi Photo: It comes as no surprise that Katy Perry needs a bit of a break. She released her megahit Teenage Dream album two years ago, and it’s been a bit of blur ever since. She’s shot numerous, big-budget music videos, topped the charts, got married and divorced, toured the world, re-released her album and even managed to squeeze in filming her first-ever 3-D concert film, “Katy Perry: Part of Me.” It’s a sequence of events that would leave a lesser women exhausted. And it seems all that hustle and bustle is finally catching up with the purple-haired pop superstar. She said she’s now ready to chill out for a bit — finally. “I’m going into hiding,” she told MTV News on Tuesday night at her splashy film premiere in L.A. The lady in red added, “I want to go and write songs in the woods or something.” If it feels like you’ve been seeing a lot of Perry lately, well, that will soon change. “I’m gonna unplug, take my hair extensions out, feel my head again. I’m gonna unplug and recharge, if that makes any sense,” she said. “I’m gonna go away. I’m sure you know it’s time for me to go the f— away.” But before she does actually goes off the grid, she’ll be around a little bit longer as she promotes her July 5 movie release, which she said will show fans just how crazy her Teenage Dream era has truly been. Her film touches on not only the good, but also the bad, including her split from ex Russell Brand . “I wouldn’t say it’s so therapeutic, because the movie is so well-rounded with so many different things,” Perry said. “I guess some of it is just hopefully an inspiration for people. When they see it, they are like, ‘Oh, yeah, she goes through some sh– too. I can’t dodge life’s curve balls if Katy Perry can’t dodge life’s curve balls.’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on ” Katy Perry: Part of Me. ” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
