The problem-plagued actress has been faced with a string of new hardships in recent weeks, beginning with the anonymous hacker-produced leak of her Playboy spread , which forced Hugh Hefner and company to move up the magazine’s publication date , followed by her being robbed at a party in Hawaii . The list of stolen items includes a $5,000 Chanel purse, which contained $10,000, a passport, probation papers and other forms of identification. And Tuesday (December 13), MTV News has learned that Lohan’s streak of trouble continues, as she will not be making her much-anticipated appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” “Lindsay Lohan’s appearance has been canceled due to a missed flight,” a rep from “Ellen” confirmed to MTV News. Lohan was scheduled to appear on the show to talk about her Playboy shoot for the first time. There is no word on whether the appearance will be rescheduled. In the January/February issue of Playboy , set to be released Friday, Lohan opens up about her ongoing problems. “Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people whom I admire and would have followed through with it more,” she told the magazine. “My stubbornness at 18 and 19 years old got in the way. During the past five years, I’ve learned that time flies faster than you think, and because you only live once, you have to learn from your mistakes, live your dreams and be accountable.”

Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks attached to update of 1976’s ‘Sparkle.’ By Jocelyn Vena Jordin Sparks Photo: Getty Images We can add two more films to the “classics” getting the reboot treatment in Hollywood: New versions of 1991’s “Point Break” and 1976’s “Sparkle” are reportedly in the works. TheWrap.com reports that Alcon Entertainment is currently working on a reimagining of surfer-heist flick “Point Break,” which starred Keanu Reeves as FBI agent Johnny Utah who goes under cover and hangs 10 with a group of surfing criminals, led by Patrick Swayze. The new film will also include an extreme sport, but no word on whether it will still be surfing. Producer Michael DeLuca explained that the Kathryn Bigelow-directed original was “a Zen meditation on testosterone fueled action and manhood in the late 20th century” that they want to re-create for the 21st century. In that other remake news, according to Variety, Sony Pictures is readying a remake of “Sparkle,” with Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston (who will also executive produce) rumored to star. Mike Epps has also been attached to the project, with production slated to begin next month. The original film’s plot, inspired by the story of the Supremes, revolved around three Harlem sisters who become a successful 1950s girl group and experience the pitfalls of fame. The new movie will tell the story of an aspiring singer (Sparks) in 1968 Detroit. This will be Houston’s first big screen film since 1996’s “The Preacher’s Wife.” This is Sparks’ feature film debut. The universe and Warner Brothers are counting on Ryan Reynolds. The studio has released a final, epic trailer for its big screen comic book adaptation of Green Lantern , a $150 million CGI romp through colliding worlds and space. Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a pilot who is chosen by a mythical green ring to wield the mighty powers needed to save the universe from evil, among other stuff. 16 and Pregnant is a gift that keeps on giving … if you like to watch teen train wrecks with kids. The latest troubled twosome? Jamie McKay and Ryan McElrath. The 17-year-old McKay, who was introduced on the MTV show last night, claims McElrath, her baby daddy, is irresponsible and has a cocaine problem. Naturally, she wants sole custody of their daughter. Ryan McElrath in 16 and Pregnant Drama Jamie McKay filed court docs in North Carolina claiming 18-year-old Ryan McElrath is “not responsible and not in a position to provide a stable environment.” Jamie claims Ryan has a “history of driving while under the influence of alcohol” and a “history of cocaine abuse.” She believes he’s been ” up to no good .” Jamie wants Ryan to be granted supervised visitation at the local Family Visitation Center as well as “submit to appropriate drug and alcohol assessments.” The couple, quickly giving Josh Smith and Jennifer Del Rio a run for their crazy money, is set to face off in court on June 13. Expect fireworks.
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon welcomed twins Saturday, April 30, their third wedding anniversary. Now they have revealed their newborns’ names: Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon! Certainly different, but here’s the meaning of each: As reported on Carey’s official blog , their son’s name is Moroccan Scott Cannon. Scott is Nick’s middle name and his grandmother’s maiden name. And as for the unusual first name? The top tier of Carey’s NYC apartment is called the Moroccan Room, because of its Moroccan-inspired decor. It’s also where Cannon proposed to her in 2008. The couple’s daughter’s name is Monroe Cannon. The baby girl was named after Marilyn Monroe, an inspiration to Carey, and has no middle name because Mariah doesn’t have one either. Interesting all around. Congratulations again to the family!
In a shocking move, Oksana Grigorieva dropped her domestic violence claim against Mel Gibson at a court hearing today in the couple’s custody case. Last month, Mel pleaded no contest to battery, ending that chapter of the pair’s legal circus. But the battle for custody of Lucia, 1, remains unresolved. In fact, it’s been so contentious that today’s move came out of left field, as Oksana actually extended an olive branch in an attempt to settle the case . Oksana’s lawyer, Dan Horowitz, told Judge Scott Gordon that they would no longer claim Mel’s alleged violence as grounds to strip him of custody. Mel’s lawyer, Stephen Kolodny and the judge were visibly shocked. The domestic violence protective order Oksana obtained – prohibiting Mel from contacting or harassing her – has also been terminated as of today. Sources close to Oksana Grigorieva say she would like to be able to communicate directly with Mel, rather than going through intermediaries. No word on whether Mel feels the same way, but it’s a good first step in putting this ugly mess behind them for the good of their little girl. The only potential bad news? Kristian Otto Herzog’s book won’t sell nearly as well if these two are actually getting along now. Poor guy.
