TV Cancellations: Which Hurts the Most?

So… did your favorite show survive? With most network television shows wrapping up their current seasons in mid-May, viewers around the country have been on the edges of their seats due to a number of suspenseful finales. But also for another, more meaningful reason: They've been anxious about these programs airing any episodes beyond said finales. Indeed, it's renewal/cancellation time around the TV dial, with all four major networks making major announcements over the course of the past few days. The following shows did not make it. They have been canceled. Which will be the most painful to never watch ever again? 1. I Feel Bad This NBC sitcom centered on a mother and wife who didn’t ever feel appreciated at home. Alas, it wasn’t appreciated by viewers, either. 2. The Cool Kids Not cool at all, according to Fox viewers. They never cared about this very lame sitcom. 3. The Passage This Fox drama was based on popular source material. But it probably should have been on HBO or something. 4. Lethal Weapon The off-screen drama was more interesting than anything on screen for this Fox drama, which is gone after three seasons. 5. Star Forgive the obvious pun here, but this Fox drama will not be shining bright for the network in 2020. 6. Murphy Brown We loved the original, but what was CBS thinking bringing this back for a revival?!? View Slideshow

Mo Money: Fugees Co-Founder Pras Michel Indicted For Illegal Donations To Obama Campaign

Source: Slaven Vlasic / Getty Pras Michel Charged In Obama Campaign Donation Scheme Former Fugees member Pras Michel has been charged with campaign finance violations that took place during the 2012 United States presidential race. According to the four-count indictment, Pras has been accused of funneling foreign money to a super PAC that allegedly supported Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. According to reports from TMZ , the legal document doesn’t specifically mention Obama’s name, but does point to a number of instances where the artist was photographed with the former president. Federal prosecutors are accusing the Fugees co-founder of conspiring with Malaysian businessman Jho Low to hide the source of these funds. The scheme is said to have involved using falsified records to funnel millions of dollars from foreign accounts to the U.S. That money ended up being split up among “straw donors,” who would then proceed to make small, more discreet donations to the PAC over time. “Mr. Michel is extremely disappointed that so many years after the fact the government would bring charges related to 2012 campaign contributions,” Pras’ attorney Barry Pollack said about the incident in a statement to CNN . “Mr. Michel is innocent of these charges and looks forward to having the case heard by a jury.” Michel is facing charges of conspiracy, making a false statement, and two counts of falsifying records. Pras and Low were both named in the DOJ’s investigation of the 1Malaysia Development Brand scandal. “According to the allegations in the complaint, Michel and [former Justice Department official George Higginbotham] defrauded U.S. financial institutions and laundered millions of dollars into the United States as part of an effort to improperly influence the Department’s investigation into the massive embezzlement and bribery scheme involving 1MDB,” Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski  said in 2018 . “The Criminal Division and our law enforcement partners will do everything we can to trace, seize, and forfeit the proceeds of foreign corruption that flow through the U.S. financial system.”

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Son: Why Won’t He Receive a Royal Title?

It’s been less than a week since Meghan Markle welcomed her first child , but already, little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has stirred up a controversy as big as his nine-syllable name. First, there’s the name itself, which many are interpreting as Meghan and Harry’s way of giving the middle finger to their British haters . And then there’s the fact that a crucial honorific seems to be missing from the little bloke’s lengthy moniker. Yes, as you may have noticed, there’s no “prince” in front of little Archie’s name. If, like us, you’re some sort of ignorant American rube, you may have assumed that such titles are simply a matter of heredity — Harry was a prince, so it stands to reason that his son would be as well. But it turns out there are no hard-and-fast rules for this sort of thing. There are several reasons why Lil Arch might be forced to go through life with a regular-ass peasant name, and even though we may never know the truth, pundits peddling their wares in the age of hot takes are very pissed off about two of the possibilities. For starters, it’s possible that the Queen denied Archie a title due to his American parentage. Of course, even the people who proposed that possibility have mostly acknowledged that it would be wildly out of character for QE2. Which is perhaps how we wound up with the theory that it’s all Prince William’s doing. As you’re probably aware, Will has become the resident villain of Kensington Palace in recent weeks, thanks largely to rumors of his affair with Rose Hanbury . As a result, some folks are under the impression that Will appealed to his grandmother to deny Archie a title on the grounds that he’s seventh in line for the throne, and will, therefore, spend his life as a “minor royal,” on par with Prince Andrew’s kids. It would be the latest volley in the supposedly ongoing feud between William and Harry — but it would also be pretty damn implausible. But those theorists are on to something in one sense: Archie will be a minor royal, which is why the most likely theory holds that Meghan and Harry decided their child should not have a royal title. “The fact that they have chosen not to use a title suggests they want this baby to have a relatively ordinary life,” royal historian Professor Kate Williams tells Vanity Fair.  “When Archie is older he will likely have to go out and get a job. “He will be a minor royal and will have to be prepared for a life of work. If the Commonwealth becomes a smaller entity, there will be less work for the royals overseas.” But that’s not to say that Archie will be anything less than an essential and widely beloved member of the royal family in his adult years: “He is the Queen’s first biracial grandchild,” says Professor Williams. “This is a historically important baby. He affects a multicultural bridge.” This may not be exactly how a famed royal historian would put it, but that trumps the hell out of any lame-ass title. Little People, Big World: Just How Fake Is It?!?

Little People, Big World is a reality television show. This is not exactly a groundbreaking statement. As such, however, the long-running TLC series has faced the same criticism and the same questions that have faced all other reality television entries on the small screen. Which is to say that many viewers are often wondering the following: Is the series scripted? This speculation was spurred on about three years ago when Jacob Roloff quit the show , resigning with a controversial Instagram post that he claimed at the time called out the program for exactly what it is: An example of total phoney baloney, according to Jacob. “Producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points,” he shared in this message, jumping way high on a pedestal and adding: “For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I could not be a part of it as soon as I was able.” In this same post, Jacob referred to “storyline” and wrote of his loved ones: “They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them.” Years later, Jacob would sort of apologize for these remarks; or at least explain that he had since grown up and regretted making them. He’s now on great terms with these same loved ones, but the issue remains. The question hangs over the Roloffs. How much of what we see each week is natural and normal? And how much is produced or even flat-out written for Amy, Matt and their kids? “For the most part, we keep it real,” Amy Roloff told Us Weekly in a recent interview. “My kids are real. They’re grounded … Granted, here we’re filming three hours and then take the one moment that people will say, ‘Oh, it’s scripted.’ “I say, ‘No, it didn’t feel like the three hours that I was in.’ I like to think that we’re pretty honest, we’re pretty real – at least I am – sometimes to a fault.” In other words: The show is edited. And these edits may be done in such a way to emphasize a certain topic or disagreement in order to boost interest — such as Matt and Amy’s fight a couple weeks ago over the farm . But nothing you see is fake by any definition of that word. How has a show that started off as an idea for a one-off documentary lasted this long? How has it actually set a Guiness World Record ? In this same Us Weekly chat , Matt Roloff chalks it up to what he calls “Compromise TV.” He expounded on this theory as follows: “Compromise TV to me, that definition in my mind, basically means male, female, there’s something for everybody – any age groups, grandpas, grandmas, young kids. “Everybody has got something. “Whether it’s the relationship between Amy and I, or the babies, or the marriages, or the bulldozers and Track Hoes, we’ve got the big farm that has the beautiful backdrop.” View Slideshow: Audrey and Jeremy Roloff: Why They REALLY Quit Little People, Big World

James Charles Gets CANCELED by Tati Westbrook: BYE, SISTER!

By mid-afternoon on Friday, James Charles and Tati Westbrook were dominating social media conversation and trending hard. It's sometimes difficult to tell what exactly is happening with all of that chatter, and nobody has time to string it all together. But we made time, and here's why the internet is cheering after beauty vlogger Tati effectively canceled James. Even if you don't follow many YouTubers or keep up with many beauty vloggers, you've probably heard of James Charles. Why? Well, at only 17, he became the first ever spokesmodel for CoverGirl. Now, he's 19 (he turns 20 later this month) and continues to be a successful influencer. But on Friday, just two weeks before he exits his teens, he began hemorrhaging followers across all platforms. Why? A callout video from friend and fellow beauty vlogger Tati Westbrook, titled: “BYE, SISTER.” We have a clip — the most serious excerpt — from the 40-minute video that Tati released on Friday afternoon. But you should know that this all started when James Charles endorsed a company that sells hair vitamins. See, his until-now good friend Tati has her own brand of Halo Beauty gummies. James was apparently assisted by another brand's security while at Coachella this year, and repayed them by endorsing the brand. Tati was livid — especially when, after nine days, he still hadn't reached out to her. “To not even get a phone call, to not even get a text a few days prior… that's pretty typical of James Charles' behavior,” Tati says. “From the time that I met him when he was 17,” she notes. “I know that he has a way of just getting what he wants.” “And,” Tati explains. “I always blamed it on his age.” But she says that James has changed more since they first met than she had ever imagined. He is no longer a person with whom she wants to be associated. “Fame, power, and a fat bank account will change almost anyone,” Tati expresses. Since his meteoric rise to fame, James has rubbed elbows with top-tier celebrities and also Katy Perry. “And if you don't have people that tell you to your face that you're doing the wrong things,” she notes. “You will change.” “I tried to be that person to you James, I really tried,” Tati laments. “I don't think there is any getting through to you and I don't want to be friends with you,” she declares. “I don't want to be associated with you,” Tati repeats. “And I need to say that very publicly so that this chapter can just be closed.” Tati says that she was instrumental in encouraging him early in his career. She also accuses him of spreading malicious rumors that treat her like a villain. But things get more serious when she begins to accuse James of being almost a predator. “You tried to trick a straight man into thinking he's gay yet again,” Tati alleges in her video. “Using your pain, your power, your money to play with people's emotions,” she accuses. “You're threatening to ruin them.” What she's talking about here is an Instagram model, pictured here, named Gage Gomez. Gage was linked with James Charles earlier this year, and even spotted alongside him at Coachella. (A great reminder that nothing good comes from Coachella) James accused Gage of “using him” for social media clout, and Gage was harassed by James' (young, impressionable) fans. But Gage tells a very different story. Gage says that he admitted to James that he was unsure of his sexuality, but says that James then began pressuring him. This wasn't just sexual pressure — he says that James would insist that he make time for him, and then viciously subtweet him if he was busy. He says that James would block and unblock him on Instagram and also invite and uninvite him to Coachella. That sounds like toxic and even manipulative behavior. James Charles has also been accused of being racist and transphobic, both in the past and very recently. We can't say that we're sorry to see him canceled — and especially not in such a thorough way. Remind us to never get on Tati's bad side.
