Why Can’t Successful Women Keep A Man?

The rest is here:

Why is it that successful women seem to not be able to stay in a healthy relationship? Sure this doesn’t include ALL successful women, however, with the recent news of J.Lo getting another divorce, it made me wonder. Halle Berry could be another example. Both women are extremely talented and not to mention gorgeous. It seems like men would be jumping through hoops to date these beautiful women, but they sure have had their share of men problems. A survey from EHarmony.com was taken that explained some of the reasons men may feel “intimated” by a successful woman. For one thing, men are misreading you: “A mistake that lots of men make is assuming that the same skills that have created success in their professional life translate to their romantic life. If a man too often “brings the office home” with him, it can have a negative impact on his love life.  The same goes for you as a woman. If you’re busy, stressed out, and can’t get out of “work mode”… you likely won’t be communicating the soft, feminine woman inside you.” It’s also about the attraction, not your success: “If you’re a successful woman, there’s something you need to know. Your career accomplishments aren’t all that a man is looking for. A guy doesn’t fall in love with an Ivy League degree, a six-figure income, and an impressive job title. He falls in love with a woman.Whether you downplay your success, or rely on it to draw men to you, the truth is that neither option will attract a man to you or make or break your relationship in the end.” What do you think? Melanie Fiona is back in full force as she hit the stage yesterday at the fifth anniversary of the Global Fusion Festival in Philadelphia. This festival is the largest one-day ethnic festival in Philly, and is held at Penn Landing. Produced by the Multicultural Affairs Congress, the festival features drink specials, give-aways, ethnic foods, ethnic dancing and many more. Among the performers of this year’s festival were Estelle, Anthony David, Maino, and Meek Millz. I had the opportunity to attend the festival this year and was blown away by how many people came out to support! Melanie Fiona was by far my favorite performer and kept the crowd rocking in the sweltering heat with her hit singles, “It Kills Me”, “Give It To Me Right” and many more. Movieline at the Midpoint: 5 Sleeper Films from 2011 That You Didn’t Know Were Hits

Bridesmaids is arguably the biggest success story of the year, if you consider that its box office grosses not only turned a female R-rated comedy into a blockbuster, but gave new life (and industry confidence) to the entire subgenre of lady-fronted comedy. Looking back on the first half of 2011, though, not every surprise was a Bridesmaids ; some hit the jackpot without making nary a splash in the public eye. Continue along our look back from the midpoint of the year and consider these five quiet hits that you probably didn’t know were hits.

Kelly Rowland’s Here I Am Celebrates ‘Year Of The Woman’

‘It’s about being alive and being happy and living life and being a woman,’ the ‘Motivation’ singer tells MTV News about July 26 LP. By Jocelyn Vena Kelly Rowland Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Kelly Rowland got some “Motivation” from Lil Wayne for the lead single off her album Here I Am, out on July 26. The album is a mix of her R&B roots and her more recent dance-queen persona. Earlier this year, Rowland told MTV News that she knew she wanted to try a little bit of everything on the record; she didn’t want to be defined by any one musical genre. “The album is amazing. I’m so excited about the album. I’m so excited for everyone to hear the rest of the album,” she said. “For a long time, I thought about, ‘Should it be dance or should it be urban or should it be this or should it be that?’ And I was like, ‘Why am I allowing people to make me think like that?’ “It’s just about artistry, it’s just about freedom,” she continued. “It’s just about music. It’s about being alive and being happy and living life and being a woman, just feeling amazing. And from records that I did with RedOne to records with Tricky [Stewart] to even emotional songs that still talk about vulnerable things, there’s so many songs on this album that people can relate to. So I can’t wait for everybody to hear everything, the whole body of work.” Given that it seems to be the summer of the diva , and that Rowland has her roots in a famous girl group, the theme of female empowerment fittingly comes up on her album as well. “That’s what this album is about as well: It’s the year of the woman,” the former Destiny’s Child singer laughed. “You know what? We just have something that they don’t, and it’s not just one thing, it’s many. We’re always thinking. We feel. We just have extra power than they do. Sorry, we can’t help ourselves!” Are you looking forward to Kelly’s album? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Kelly Rowland

Foster The People’s ‘Pumped Up Kicks’: Bullying At The Beach

The band is surprised that their cheery-sounding song about a kid with a gun is a contender for Summer Jam of 2011. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias Foster the People performing live Photo: Joseph Llanes/ Foster the People Chances are, if you’ve been within a five-mile radius of a radio this summer, you’ve probably heard Foster the People ‘s “Pumped Up Kicks,” their hazy, fuzzy track that has become an unexpected smash and a genuine contender for the Summer Jam of 2011 . But have you really listened to the song — or, more specifically, its lyrics? In keeping with the grand tradition of such alt-hits like Eels’ “Novocaine for the Soul” and the Smashing Pumpkins’ “Today,” the track manages to hide a rather dark message beneath all the mirth. ” ‘Pumped Up Kicks,’ is really about bullying, and the tragedy that bullying produces … if that kid retaliates in a nasty way; both sides end up being harmed,” Foster frontman Mark Foster told MTV News. “All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you’d better run, better run, outrun my gun,” goes the chorus, in a deceptively cheery tone. “I tend to do that with a lot of songs,” Foster said. “I like to tell a different type of story, lyrically, than what the music is expressing, because it brings another layer to the story itself. I wrote it a block away from the beach, and I was working at a music house — Mophonics, a place where I composed for ads and stuff — and I think that had some influence on the sound.” And while Foster the People might be getting a kick out of the fact that their decidedly dark tune has become one of the year’s biggest tracks, they’re also blown away by its slow-burning success … because, really, they never thought “Kicks” would do everything that it has. “I wrote the song like a year and half ago, and for it to still be circling around and become a summer song this year, I think it was definitely unexpected on our part,” Foster said. “We like the song, but we had no idea it would spread around the world the way that it has.” Still, they’re taking full advantage of their newfound clout. Foster said he’s already working on the follow-up to their debut, Torches (which just came out in May), bringing a portable studio out on the road — and they’ve got big plans for another potential hit. Or, we should say, they had big plans … until Katy Perry went ahead and ruined them with her “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” video . “Yeah, we really want to get Kenny G involved on a track, he would just slay it,” Foster sighed. “And I think we were all really bummed out, actually, when we found out that Katy Perry put him in her video, because we had been talking about that for a year — bringing Kenny G into the fold and writing something with him. But, that’s OK. Katy Perry had it first, we’ll have sloppy seconds.” Is “Pumped Up Kicks” one of your favorite songs of the summer? Talk about it in the comments! Related Artists Foster the People

How To Keep Those Checks Coming In: 11 Most Desired Degrees In 2011

For those of you seeking a J-O-B, here are degrees that employers are checking for the most: Employers say that they plan to hire almost 20 percent more four-year college graduates than they did last year, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Already, 41 percent of the current class who applied for a job has received at least one offer, compared with 38 percent of the Class of 2010 at this time last year. Hiring by industry has increased in almost every sector, except for government, professional services and retail. Engineering, computer-related and “money” degrees like accounting perennially comprise the most job openings, and this year is no different. However, liberal arts and science majors also are seeing slightly better opportunities this year, according to the NACE. Below are the bachelor’s degrees that businesses told the NACE that they most demand.
