Elijah Wood has a new hit on his hands in Wilfred , the offbeat FX comedy about a depressed young man’s relationship with the canine next door — whom he happens to visualize and converse with as a dude in a dog suit (played by the show’s co-creator, Jason Gann). Wilfred debuted last week to 2.6 million viewers, the network’s highest ratings ever for a comedy premiere. Not bad at all, but it has a ways to go before catching up with the other phenomenon in Wood’s life.

The 2011 BET Awards are underway at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California and have been amazing so far! Mary J. After six years of marriage, pair will throw an anniversary and divorce party in Nashville. By Jocelyn Vena Jack White Photo: Jordan Strauss/ WireImage Jack White and his wife, model/singer Karen Elson, have announced their divorce, but it doesn’t seem like there are hard feelings between them. They plan to commemorate the ending of their six-year marriage with a divorce party this weekend, according to People.com . “Karen Elson and Jack White announce today that they are getting divorced,” a statement about their divorce reads. “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. “In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party,” the statement continues. “An evening together in Nashville to reaffirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.” This is the second split for White this year. Earlier this year, Jack and Meg White officially dissolved the White Stripes . The musical partners had also been previously married to one another. White married Elson (who appeared in the Stripes’ “Blue Orchid” video) in 2005 in Brazil, quickly expanding their family with a son and daughter. They reside in Nashville where the party is expected to take place on Friday night (June 10). An invitation says that the unusual party will have “dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them. … Please help us celebrate together this anniversary of the making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals.” So, who made the guest list? Band’s first album in five years will be preceded by the single ‘The Adventures of Raindance Maggie.’ By James Montgomery Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Anthony Kiedis Well, it’s certainly a better title than Dr. Johnny Skinz’s Disproportionately Rambunctious Polar Express Machine-Head. On August 30, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will return with their first new album in more than five years, a Rick-Rubin produced disc that they’re calling I’m With You. The Peppers broke the news on their official site on Sunday evening, with bassist Flea adding his own personal flourishes on Twitter . According to several reports, the first single off the album is called “The Adventures of Raindance Maggie,” and will be released on July 18. I’m With You will be RHCP’s first album since 2006’s massively successful double disc Stadium Arcadium , and their first since the departure of longtime guitarist John Frusciante, who announced that he had left the group due to “musical differences” in late 2009. He’s replaced on the new album by friend (and touring Chili Pepper) Josh Klinghoffer. In an interview earlier this year with Spin magazine, RHCP frontman Anthony Kiedis said the band was reinvigorated by a lengthy hiatus the members took following their Arcadium world tour, and the addition of Klinghoffer to the mix, describing the recording process of the (then-untitled) album as being “one of evolution.” “Before, some of our jams were a bit hit-and-miss,” he told the magazine. “On this record, a decent number of songs were actually thought out and planned in a way we had never done before. That is, with Flea’s new knowledge of music theory, we explored the writing process with a bit more precision. “It is always going to change the chemistry and feeling of the music when such a creative force as John Frusciante leaves,” Kiedis continued. “He was something unique that shaped our sound then, but now I think it’s also something fresh and exciting to have a new, incredible musical mind working with us now. We are still the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but we also have to adapt and welcome new opportunities. ‘Twilight’ actor surprises 2011 MTV Movie Awards audience as he presents Generation Award to his friend. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon accepts her Generation Award at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Getty Images When it was announced that Reese Witherspoon would receive the coveted Generation Award at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards , we expected plenty of fanfare to surround her presentation and acceptance of the award — especially since her buddy Chelsea Handler and onetime co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Robert Pattinson were her A-list presenting team. What we did not expect, however, was Pattinson’s creative ad-libbing , which included an already-infamous “F bomb” and referring to Witherspoon as “33 percent lesbian.” MTV News caught up with Witherspoon right after her acceptance to find out what receiving the Generation Award meant to her and, most importantly, what she thought of the “Twilight” actor’s comments. About accepting the award in front of the massive Movie Awards audience, the actress said, “It was good — except for Rob Pattinson. I mean, really: He called me 33 percent lesbian, which was a gross underestimation of my lesbian-ness,” she joked. Really? What percentage would Witherspoon give herself, pray tell? “At least 55 [percent],” she said, laughing playfully. “I mean, what? You have good friends, you have people you make lasting relationships [with]. It’s definitely a relationship I really value in my life,” she said sincerely.
