Matt Kemp Swears He’s Over Rihanna & Ready To Move On

Go here to read the rest:

Matt Kemp swears that he is over the celebrity status he had while dating Rihanna and is ready to get back to focusing on baseball only. Yahoo! Sports remembers when Matt Kemp arrived as a rookie: “His skills were breathtaking. Built thick and strong and fast…with home-run power and base-stealing speed…” “He [became] a regular in early summer of 2007…. The cash-poor Dodgers signed him to a two-year contract worth $10.95 million.” But then…Rihanna happened. “The Dodgers were losing. Kemp played as if distracted. His general manager called him out in April. His manager benched him in June. A friend of Kemp’s confided he’d lost him to a world that barely had time for baseball. His body swelled, his bat slowed, his mind appeared to wander. He didn’t compete , not the way he once had, before the money and the celebrity and the fast company.” In Matt Kemp’s own words, he confesses: “I don’t know if I got too comfortable.” But when asked if he feels scarred by last season, he says, “What? Scarred? No, man. I’m not trippin’ about last year. Last year was last year. This year is this year.” Well, good for you, Matt! We’re glad you’ve not fallen to Rihanna’s voodoo mind tricks! Taylor Swift’s A Fan Of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, 50 Cent

The pop singer explains on ‘The Tonight Show’ that she’s been ‘listening to a lot of rap, hip-hop music right now.’ By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift on the “Tonight” show Photo: NBC Taylor Swift was recently snapped by the prying paparazzi lenses doing something quite shocking. No, she wasn’t stumbling out of a nightclub or caught wearing a skirt and no underwear — rather, the pop superstar was photographed buying stuff at Target. “I’m spending a few weeks out in L.A. ’cause I have video shoots and stuff to do so I needed to go buy a record player and they have really good ones at Target,” she explained to Jay Leno when she stopped by “The Tonight Show” on Tuesday night. “I’ve been listening to a lot of music on vinyl. It makes it an event.” During her interview, Swift also admitted that she’s been spinning some unexpected tunes. “I listen to everything. Right now I’m listening to a lot of 50 Cent and Nicki Minaj and Keri Hilson and Rihanna,” she revealed. “I’m listening to a lot of rap, hip-hop music right now.” Swift may have love for hip-hop, but on Sunday night she was honored for her work in country music when she was awarded the Entertainer of the Year prize at the Academy of Country Music Awards. “I am still really just blown away and so excited that the fans have been so nice to me,” she explained to Leno. “It’s been a really good week. We came back from our tour in Europe and Asia and we had one day in Nashville. Nashville’s where I live and I love it more than anywhere in the world and one of the reasons for that is because in Nashville, country music award shows are like the Super Bowl. I was out and about on my day off … and everywhere I would go someone would tap me on the shoulder [and wish me good luck].” Swift admitted that she did have a good omen the night of the ceremony … she saw her lucky number, 13, pop up mid-show. “The night of the award show they were announcing the nominees for Album of the Year. And they showed Kenny Chesney … and as they’re playing a clip of his video it shows a football player running towards the screen with a ’13’ on his jersey… and it ended up being good [for me],” she explained. And, while it doesn’t seem like Swift will slow down anytime soon in terms of her music career, she told Leno that she does have a backup plan: haircutting. “Because we were on the tour for two months… you’re on the road and you get bored,” she recalled. “So I cut [my bandmate’s] hair [and] she looked awesome and so I started cutting all the people on the road’s hair.” Would you let Taylor cut your hair? Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert 2011

“I#39;ve been working all year trying to do it healthfully and slowly, but you know what, he#39;s loved me at all weights, so if I gain 30 pounds before then – I don#39;t want to! – but he#39;ll still marry me,” says Miranda Lambert, 27, who on Sunday took several honors at the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards – hosted by Shelton. Steven Tyler, Rihanna, Robert Pattinson Pop Up At ACM Awards

The Band Perry, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum big winners. By Gil Kaufman Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood at the ACM Awards on Sunday Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images You could be excused if you tuned into the 46th Academy of Country Music Awards show on Sunday night and thought that maybe you’d overslept and missed the Grammys. In addition to the usual compliment of cowboy hats and bedazzled boots, there was a healthy dose of rock and pop glitter at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. In addition to “American Idol” judge Steven Tyler lending his formidable pipes to a duet with Carrie Underwood on her hit “Undo It,” the pair chewed up the stage for Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way,” with Underwood looking comfortable screeching the song’s chorus into a microphone with a glittery whip on the end. There were also some awards handed out, including four to Miranda Lambert, who won Best Female Vocalist, as well as Single, Song and Video of the Year honors for her tune “The House That Built Me.” But her roll ended at the fan-voted Entertainer of the Year trophy, which went to Taylor Swift, 21, the youngest-ever winner of that honor. “This is the first time I’ve ever won this, and I’m just losing my mind,” a teary Swift said in her signature breathless manner. “The fact that this is from the fans makes it so beautiful. … You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever … We just got back from touring in Europe and Asia, so thank you for this wonderful welcome-home gift.” Earlier in the night, Swift premiered her new single, a get back tune at critics who’ve slagged her live singing in the past, which she performed while plucking a banjo. It was a big night for Grammy winners Lady Antebellum as well, with the country trio winning Top Vocal Group and Album of the Year for Need You Now, while bluegrass newcomers the Band Perry snagged Best New Artist. It was five in a row for Brad Paisley, who once again went home with the Best Male Vocalist hardware and the Gwyneth Paltrow-starring “Country Strong” took the Tex Ritter Award for films that emphasize country music. The performance-heavy three-hour show also featured the sight of Rihanna being joined by Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles for a dramatic duet on Ri’s new single, “California King Bed,” and folk pop icon James Taylor joined Zac Brown for a medley of “Colder Weather” and “Sweet Baby James.” Among the presenters were “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, as well as Robert Pattinson , who appeared on the show with his “Water for Elephants” co-star Reese Witherspoon. Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale: Will The Album Be #1?

Record is projected to sell 275,000 to 300,000 units in its first week. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Jive Britney Spears’ new album, Femme Fatale , is a chugging dance-pop album full of sexual innuendo and thumping beats, made even sexier by Spears’ flirty singing style. It’s Spears’ latest release since 2008’s Circus, which sped straight up the charts as soon as Britney’s dedicated fans could get their hands on it. While Spears remained somewhat under the radar for her last release, this time around, the pop star has been on a media blitz, and as of press time, Spears had the #1 album on iTunes. Hits Daily Double Senior Editor Roy Trakin explained to MTV News that judging from sales so far, Spears will likely have the #1 album by next week. “We’re going out with the projection 275,000 to 300,000 [albums sold]; probably below label projections but those are always inflated. I think everything’s kicking in. There seems to be a lot of press attention,” he said of the album. “I think this is still a healthy total for her given the market and given where her career has been. This is a good showing.” Not only have sales been strong, music critics have also been loving the album. “The critical reception seems to be fairly positive, as well. That doesn’t have much to do with sales, but the general feeling is positive. She’s gonna be #1,” Trakin said. “300,000 is the over-under.” This week, some of Spears’ biggest competition comes from Adele, whose 21 has been selling consistently well for weeks, Jennifer Hudson’s newest release, I Remember Me, which sits at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart, Chris Brown, whose album F.A.M.E. is currently the #1 album in the country, and this week’s other big new release, Wiz Khalifa’s debut album, Rolling Papers . “Given the state of the market right now, this will probably be, I would think, this will end up being the second biggest debut of the year. Only Adele would be larger this year,” Trakin said. “That’s pretty good, actually. The real big story this week is Wiz Khalifa with Rolling Papers, with between 190,000 and 215,000.” Is there any chance of an upset that forces Spears out of the #1 spot? Trakin explains that that is unlikely, saying, “The Wiz Khalifa showing is strong, but it’s about 100,000 below what Britney’s gonna do.” To see what Spears has to say about the album and to watch her as she puts the finishing touches on it, don’t miss the “Britney Spears: I Am the Femme Fatale” special, airing Sunday, April 3, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
