Wiz Khalifa And Amber Rose Engaged

‘He made me the Happiest Woman in the World,’ Amber Rose tweets in reaction to Wiz Khalifa’s proposal. By Rob Markman Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ FilmMagic Wiz Khalifa ‘s love for Amber Rose has never been a secret, and on Thursday (March 1), the “Black & Yellow” MC made things just a little more official when he popped the question to his girlfriend of one year. He then shared the moment with a few million of his fans on Twitter , writing, “She Said Yes!!!” with a picture of Amber sporting an oval-cut diamond ring. “He made me the Happiest Woman in the World!!!!” Rose followed up on Twitter with the same picture attached to her message . “We Love all u Rosebuds, Rosestuds & Taylors so much!” Amber and Wiz began dating early last year, and they appeared together on an episode of “RapFix Live” in March. The media coverage surrounding the couple hasn’t always been so rosy, especially when the topic of Rose’s ex-beau Kanye West has come up, but through it all, their relationship has continually flourished. The couple has been very vocal about their plans for marriage in the past year. “We discuss it all the time; like he said, we’re very much in love,” Rose told MTV News while standing next to Wiz on the VMA Pre-Show black carpet . “But, ya know, we’re just going to take our time and just enjoy each other right now. We’re both really busy and we work really hard and when the time comes, it’s gonna come.” “Oh yeah, absolutely, man; it’s gonna happen,” Wiz added. “Like we said, we’re just gonna do what’s natural and not let any pressure [get to us], because even [with] the word of it happening, people are like, ‘You guys need to get married now,’ ” Khalifa explained. “It’s gonna happen; my baby knows I love her. I’m committed and she’s committed, so we’re just gonna make it happen.” In September, a photo of Wiz in a black tuxedo and Amber in a white gown hit the Web. Rumors began to fly that the two had secretly tied the knot in Las Vegas, but MTV News later learned that the couple was merely celebrating Khalifa’s birthday . My name is Ale. I am 13 years old, and I would’ve never…

My name is Ale. I am 13 years old, and I would’ve never thought that I could write one of these one day. I am a HUGE fan of Justin’s, so when I heard that I was getting FRONT ROW tickets to his concert, I absolutely went wild. I couldn’t believe it. It was something that I knew probably wasn’t going to happen again, so I couldn’t stop thinking about it till the day of the concert. September 30th, 2011. The day that would change my life forever. I got to the concert that day, with enough energy to run around the world, and a smile that could not fade. I took my seat in front row, when it finally began to sink in. I was going to see Justin Bieber only a few feet away from me in a couple of hours. I waited a lot of long and exhausting hours, but after the concert started, my heart raced. Justin walked in front of me on stage a few times, and his face looked as flawless as I had ever seen it. He looked 100x more gorgeous in person, I swear. I was watching the concert, and suddenly I realized that Scooter Braun was standing RIGHT in front of me! It was amazing. It was a really weird feeling seeing him in person, but it was astounding. He was watching the concert, so I said hi to him, and of course he said hi back. I asked him many questions about Justin and about how he was liking my city. I even got to give Scooter a high-five!  My mind was blown, but not until I saw Kenny coming in as well. He, as well as Scooter, was standing only a few inches away from my face. The feeling can never be explained, but it was incredible seeing them so close to me. I talked to Kenny and told him that I admired him a lot, and I got to ask him other questions as well. I even touched his hand! A while into the awesome concert, Justin started pointing out random fans in the crowd, like “You in the yellow shirts, hey,” and “Over there with the giant black posters, I see you.” At this point, I decided to lift up a big, heart-shaped pillow that I brought with me to the concert , that had a big “I LOVE YOU” in white letters. I lifted it up really high so that Justin could see it. I had some hopes that he would, but I knew that I was 1 in 10 million. He started walking toward my side of the stage as he pointed out 3 different people in the audience. I was jumping so much and stretching my arms so high that my body started to hurt. But it was all worthwhile, because out of nowhere, Justin saw me, looked directly into my eyes, pointed at me, waved his hand and told me, “LOVE YOU, TOO!” then turned away after saying that . The crowd went crazy, but not as crazy as I did. I entered into this weird state of shock that I’d never felt before. I zoned out, my heart raced as fast as it ever had, and my nose stopped letting air in. Tears could not stop streaming out of my face. I cried horribly and made very loud noises as I cried. It was the most amazing feeling that I had ever felt in my life. I had this adrenaline inside me that I had to let out. I screamed, jumped, did everything I could to let that energy out. I was the luckiest girl on the planet at that moment. Justin Bieber had just told me he loved me! It is just a feeling that you can’t explain no matter what. I felt so relieved and special because I knew that for one moment, for that one small moment, Justin had looked at me and had thought of me. We made direct eye contact! It was an experience that I will definitely NEVER forget. Ever. To top the night off, I saw Pattie walking in front of me for a few seconds, looking as beautiful as ever. Unbelievable! I had always said to my friends and family to never say never and to never give up, and look where it got me. Look at the situation that I was put in. All because of staying positive and believing in myself for many years. A HUGE thanks to Justin for changing my life forever, I love you so much. Read more from the original source: My name is Ale. Taylor Swift Looking To ‘Evolve’ On Next Album

‘Love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about,’ singer tells MTV News after premiering ‘Safe & Sound’ video. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway Taylor Swift Photo: MTV News In 2010, Taylor Swift released the Grammy-winning Speak Now. The album was a study in the complexities of love and life, full of ponderings on the romance of new love and the pain of a broken affair. Drawing inspiration from her own life, the album topped the charts and kept Swift ever-present. As she embarks on her next album release, she tells MTV News that she’s still got work to do, even if her bosses at the record label are ready to pull the trigger on it. “So far, I’ve been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, ‘All right, we’re finished; all right, we’re satisfied; OK, this is done now.’ And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions,” she told MTV News’ Sway during “MTV First: Taylor Swift,” when she dropped her video for her “The Hunger Games” track, “Safe & Sound.” “I’m going to work on it until I literally have zero time left to work on it, because I’m having so much fun working on this album,” she explained. “I made my last album, Speak Now, with this idea I really wanted to make an album without writing with anyone else just because I always wanted to do that. And now I have a different approach to this record. I’m getting to work with people that I’ve always wanted to work with.” That means that she’s seeking out some assistance “from all different places in music.” “I’m trying to be as much of a sponge as possible,” she explained. “You have to evolve and try new things and change and that’s what I’ve loved to do with this album.” But just because she’s trying some new things musically doesn’t mean she’s quite ready to move on from writing about love. “I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It’s all different and I’m fascinated by that,” she said. “I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made Fearless. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion.” What are you hoping to hear on Taylor Swift’s next album? Leave your comment below! Related Videos MTV First: Taylor Swift

Wiz Khalifa Breaks Through To Hottest MCs List!

Wiz dukes it out with Big Sean, but the Pittsburgh spitter’s gold-selling debut and sold-out tour make him one of MTV’s Hottest MCs in the Game. By MTV News staff Wiz Khalifa Photo: Getty Images Wiz Khalifa stays high, so as expectations for his debut album, Rolling Papers, shot through the roof, the Pittsburgh rapper made good by delivering a gold-selling LP last March — with multiple hit singles to back it. That success and more was enough to take him from MTV’s 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC to the Hottest MCs in the Game VII list. Not only did the Taylor Gang general snag the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 in his first week out — behind Britney Spears — he also dropped a collaborative album with Snoop Dogg ( Mac & Devin Go to High School ), blessed fans with the Cabin Fever mixtape, and sold out shows around the world on his Rolling Papers Tour. When it was all said and done, the Kush and Orange Juice spitter clocked in a reported $11 million and snagged the #11 spot on Forbes ‘ Hip-Hop’s Top Earners list . Want to join the debate? Just hit us on Twitter using the hashtag #HottestMC! “First of all, he won the Hottest Breakthrough MC and really fulfilled the promise that we all knew that he had,” MTV News Senior hip-hop Writer Rob Markman said. “To be this young and have this many accomplishments, almost three albums in a year, you gotta give it up to dude.” HOT STREAK Albums: Rolling Papers and Mac & Devin Go to High School (with Snoop Dogg) Selected Mixtapes: Cabin Fever Singles: “Black and Yellow,” “Roll Up,” “No Sleep” and “Young, Wild & Free” (featuring Snoop Dogg and Bruno Mars) Street Bangers: “On My Level” and “Taylor Gang” Key Guest Appearances: Tinie Tempah’s “Till I’m Gone”; DJ Drama’s “Oh My”; T-Pain’s “5 O’Clock”; and Cee Lo Green’s “Bright Lights Bigger City” Meteoric Metrics: Notched a #1 rap album with his certified-gold debut, Rolling Papers ; scored three platinum plaques for his “Roll Up,” “No Sleep” and “Young, Wild & Free” singles. Saw his 2010 single “Black and Yellow” peak at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 2011. Wiz also clocked in at #11 on Forbes ‘ Hip-Hop Top 20 Earners list, raking in $11 million last year. Business Ventures: Started his Taylor Gang label by signing rap veteran Juicy J and up-and-coming model/rapper Lola Monroe Tours: Rolling Papers Tour Monumental Moment: Wiz Khalifa racked up a series of wins last year, but after Rolling Papers went gold, the Pittsburgh spitter proved he could turn his Internet mixtape grind into a bankable, mainstream hustle. Forecast: After scoring a gold plaque for his debut, Wiz is already preparing a new mixtape ( Taylor Allderdice ) and his sophomore album ( O.N.I.F.C. ) for a 2012 release. He has already promised to outdo Rolling Papers. The criteria to be considered a Hottest MC are based on a combination of factors: impact, buzz, sales, lyrics, swag and the intangibles. The Taylor Gang captain meets all of them. His impact was huge, just look at the way veteran artists like Snoop and Juicy J lined up to collaborate with the youngster. Wiz’s buzz kept him a part of the overall 2011 hip-hop conversation and he notched impressive sales numbers. Khalifa also has a strong sense of style, as seen in his New York Times style magazine feature last September. And his relationship with Amber Rose kept him in the tabloids, adding an intangible element to his growing celebrity. After each member of MTV’s Hip-Hop Brain Trust submitted their personal Hottest MCs lists, Wiz landed the #8 spot. But then things took an interesting turn. After a heated roundtable debate and subsequent vote, Khalifa was bumped to #9 and G.O.O.D. Music upstart Big Sean snatched the #8 slot. The argument was fiery, and though most of the panelists agreed that Wiz’s success was remarkable, some contended that Rolling Papers was a critical disappointment and Khalifa had lost some steam in the past few months. “It’s a good album, but I think with the momentum and expectations, it didn’t live up to the hype,” said Yomi Desalu, MTV’s senior director of music and talent programming strategy. “But I just feel like I want him up there because of the full year, of the full stride, of the Rolling Papers Tour, of what he [accomplished],” Rebecca Thomas, an MTV News editor and writer, argued. If Wiz’s final position on the “Hottest MCs in the Game” list is debatable, his impact on hip-hop over the past year is irrefutable. With a bunch of accolades already under his belt, Khalifa has nowhere to go but up! Tune in to MTV2 on Sunday, February 19, at 10 p.m. ET/PT to catch ” MTV2 Presents: Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts ,” then watch “Hottest MCs in the Game VII” immediately after at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT before capping the night off with ” Sucker Free Certified ” at 11 p.m. ET/PT. Whitney Houston Celebrated: Inside Clive Davis’ Grammy Party

MTV News is on the scene as Alicia Keys, Diddy, Pitbull, Tony Bennett, more pay tribute to late singer at Davis’ annual pre-Grammy bash. By James Montgomery Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at Clive Davis’ 2012 Pre-Grammy Gala Photo: WireImage BEVERLY HILLS, California — Ever since 1976, Clive Davis has been throwing his pre-Grammy gala, a celebration of the year in music that’s part concert, part cocktail reception, part roast. It’s become the event during Grammy week, a black-tie party attended by the biggest stars, a soiree as synonymous with the awards as those golden gramophone trophies. And yet, in its 35 years, there’s probably never been a Clive Davis party like the one that took place on Saturday night. It occurred just hours after the death of Whitney Houston , the legendary producer and music executive’s crown jewel, was announced, in the very hotel where Houston’s body was discovered. Understandably, there was a rather palpable pall to the proceedings (so much so that several outlets reported the grieving Davis had decided to cancel the event), though most in attendance seemed to believe Whitney would’ve wanted the show to go on. So while throngs of Houston fans began to hold a candlelight vigil outside the Beverly Hilton, inside, Davis himself was stepping up to the podium to deliver a eulogy for an artist who was not only his greatest discovery, but one of his closest friends. “By now, sadly, we’ve all learned of the unspeakable [tragedy] of our beloved Whitney’s passing,” Davis said, visibly shaken. “I don’t have to mask my emotions, not in front of this room filled with so many dear friends. I am personally devastated. Whitney was so full of life … she was a beautiful person with talent beyond compare. She graced the stage with a regal presence … and her family asked that the show go on.” Davis then asked those in attendance — everyone from Richard Branson and Joni Mitchell to Sean “Diddy” Combs and Serena Williams (not to mention Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey, Adam Lambert and more) — to join him in a moment of silence to honor Houston’s memory, and you could hear a pin drop. Then, he announced that this night’s gala would be dedicated to the singer, before announcing, “And now, on with the music.” For the next three-plus hours, the talent in the room did their best to not only rise to the occasion but to vocalize the shock and sadness they were feeling in the hours after Houston’s death. Tony Bennett remembered that after Davis had signed Houston to Arista Records in the early 1980s, he told him, “Clive, you finally got the greatest singer I ever heard in my life,” before performing a somber rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?” Diddy recalled Houston’s smile and “natural, positive spirit,” before telling the audience that “Whitney, simply put, had the greatest voice in the world. She was a gift from God.” After finishing his tribute, Combs then reminded the crowd that Davis’ gala has always been about celebrating — he repeated the phrase “There ain’t no party like a Clive Davis party” — and urged those in attendance to get out of their seats and give both Davis and Bennett standing ovations. That energy carried over into Kinks frontman Ray Davies’ raucous set, which had the men of Mumford & Sons leaping out of their seats. Pitbull, who teamed with Ne-Yo for a spirited sprint through their hit “Give Me Everything,” also managed to lift the event out of the shadows. Alicia Keys shared stories of singing “I Want to Dance With Somebody” in front of the mirror as a child, and she talked about her longtime friendship with Houston, whom she called “a sister.” She then played an emotional mini-set on the piano, which included her leading the audience in a sing-along to the chorus of “No One,” a fitting tribute indeed. Wiz Khalifa, who earlier in the night told MTV News that he planned on celebrating Houston’s life onstage, lived up to that promise during his brief set, burning through his hit “Black and Yellow” while backed by a cracking live band. And Brit import Jessie J had the attention of the entire room as she spoke about Houston’s influence, saying that when she first got signed at the age of 17, her #1 goal was meeting the singer. Of course, not everyone found the strength to perform. Towards the end of the night, Davis once again returned to the lectern and informed the audience that two of Houston’s disciples, Brandy and Monica, were scheduled to take the stage (he added that Houston had attended a rehearsal of their performance on Thursday), but were too emotional to make it through their song. And in a night overflowing with tributes to the late singer, it was that moment that truly said it all. Houston was not only a prodigious talent, she was also a friend, a mother, a family member … and all those points were mentioned time and time again during Saturday’s celebration. But the unspoken grief of two of Houston’s closest friends made it abundantly clear that she was also loved dearly, and that those who knew her best are struggling to put her death into perspective. But at the very least, this night was the first step. MTV News’ Sway and James Montgomery will be live from the Grammys red carpet this Sunday, February 12 starting at 5 p.m. ET to get reactions from music’s biggest stars on the death of Whitney Houston. Don Cornelius Was The Jay-Z Of His Time, Rev Run Says

‘What he did at his height, he was brilliant,’ Run tells MTV News of ‘Soul Train’ legend. By Rob Markman There will never be another Don Cornelius . With his television show “Soul Train,” the iconic producer and host put audiences on to the latest music, fashion and dance steps every week. Artists like Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Run-DMC all took to Cornelius’ stage and delivered some pretty memorable performances. Cornelius was found dead in his Los Angeles home after police responded to a shooting call on Wednesday. While the cause of death has not been established, multiple outlets have reported that it appears to have been a suicide. In the wake of his death, the “Soul Train” host has remembered by many in the music community, including Rev Run, who spoke to MTV News on Thursday (February 2) about Cornelius’ impact. “What he did at his height, he was brilliant. He was the Jay-Z of his time,” Run said. “He was cool. He was the coolest of the people dancing in his crowd.” Love, Peace and “Soul”: Don Cornelius Remembered in Photos Run recalled watching the show as a kid and seeing iconic performances by Michael Jackson and Marvin Gaye. The rap icon was such of fan of Cornelius’ “Soul Train” that when he finally appeared on the show in the 1980s with his group RUN-DMC DMC, the magnitude of his appearance didn’t quite sink in. “As a kid, before I had any experience in it — Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye — it was just cool; it was just big,” Run said, still humbled by his appearance on the show more than 30 years later. “I was happier watching it from home. … It was bigger than me and more cooler than me.” The “Run’s House” star marveled at Cornelius’ contributions to pop culture. “Not only was he a great businessman, but he brought us what the cool was,” Rev Run said. “He knew James Brown and Marvin Gaye, he’d knock on their bedroom door and say come do my show. Well connected, he was the man, like I said, Jay-Z.” Share your condolences with Don Cornelius’ friends and family, as well as you favorite “Soul Train” memories on our Facebook page.
