He has a film and album coming out in August, and the King of the South just finished an extensive shoot for his clothing line, Akoo, with guest Donnis. “The direction of the clothing line, in my eyes, is upscale urban apparel,” Tip said, sitting in the Ace Hotel. “I just wanna continue to diversify. To me, we got V-neck tees, crew-neck tees, wovens. Denim is a big part of the lines. We actually pride ourselves on the quality of our denim, especially at the price point we at. We got fleece. We got a lot of imagery, distinctive imagery on our pieces, that sets us apart from everything else going on out there.” Tip even showed off one of the Akoo bags, like the one he gave Larry King last week while visiting his show . Tip’s new album, King Uncaged, comes out August 17, while his film “Takers” drops August 20. Lil Wayne Fans Like ‘I’m Single’ Video’s ‘Gritty’ Feel

‘That’s part of the reason most people like Lil Wayne, is the realness he brings to the game,’ one fan tells MTV News. By Steven Roberts Lil Wayne in the video for “I’m Single” Photo: Nino Brown NEW YORK — Lil Wayne’s “I’m Single” video, directed by Wayne’s resident videographer, DJ Scoob Doo, debuted Sunday, and it focuses on the love triangle between Wayne, his wife and his side chick . A bulk of the video features behind-the-scenes footage of Wayne shot before he began his one-year sentence for gun possession. Last week, fans out in Times Square applauded Wayne’s pre-prison planning , saying the video left them hungry for more. On Monday, MTV News hit Times Square again to get people’s reactions now that the video has premiered. “It looks real,” Robert McKutian told us. “It looks gritty. It looks like something he would’ve made himself, and that’s part of the reason most people like Lil Wayne, is the realness he brings to the game.” “It’s definitely keeping his name out there,” he added. “It’s definitely going to keep people talking about him, so that he’s not forgotten by the time he gets out.” Other fans thought it was a little different from what Lil Wayne normally does. Kenya Montasiz said Weezy’s videos are typically more involved, but he liked that this video was more stripped-down. “It’s like the bottle without the brown paper bag,” Montasiz said. “I think an artist needs to evolve. I think he’s definitely evolving. He’s definitely growing into his own. You can’t do the same thing all of the time.” Other people agreed that the minimalist video is a move in the right direction. Brianna Lee said the change can definitely be beneficial because it’s more personable. “Personally, I think that’s a much better decision, because it allows you to focus on the music, which I’m a bigger fan of, as opposed to the video,” she said. And his younger brother joked that it was nice to be reunited with his siblings after taking time to focus on a solo effort, Nick Jonas and the Administration . “I haven’t talked to my brothers in a while,” Nick laughed. “He’s been doing the side project,” Joe said. “Takes up all of his time.” All jokes about their “reunion” aside, the bandmates talked about how great it was to be included in the day’s festivities, especially for a foundation whose work reaches those in need. “We’re really excited today to be a part of [this],” Kevin said. “[The] T.J. Martell Foundation is allowing us to be here and play a show, and we haven’t played a show in a while. Kellie Pickler Says Her Next Album Is ‘Very Country’

‘I’m kind of going back to my roots,’ CMT Music Awards nominee tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Kellie Pickler Photo: George Napolitano/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Kellie Pickler burst onto the scene as the country cutie on “American Idol,” and since leaving the show, she’s released two albums and won three CMT Music Awards (where she’s nominated again this year ). The former “Idol” is ready to get back to the country basics on her next release. “I am [working on a new album],” she told MTV News earlier this week on the Dressed to Kilt red carpet . “I actually am writing for the third album, so it should come out this fall.” In case some of her previous efforts were a little too pop for country-music fans, the North Carolina native said this next album will embrace her down-home roots. “It’s very country. I’m kind of going back to my roots,” she said. “I grew up listening to more traditional country music: Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Tammy [Wynette], Dolly [Parton]. So, I’m kind of going back to my roots. I’m excited about that.” Pickler has been so busy working on new music that she hasn’t had time to check out “American Idol” this season, but she does offer new judge Ellen DeGeneres her full support . “I’ve not seen the show, but I love Ellen,” Pickler said. “She’s like my favorite person in the world. I’m sure she’s doing great.” At this year’s CMT Music Awards, Pickler is nominated for Female Video of the Year for “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You” and Collaborative Video of the Year for her duet with Taylor Swift, “Best Days of Your Life.” Will you be cheering Kellie on at the CMT Music Awards? Henry Edward Roberts dies at 68; Inventor of Early PC That Inspired Bill Gates

Photo: Henry Edward Roberts designed the Altair 8800. After selling his firm, he became a physician. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution) NEW YORK, USA: Ed Roberts, whose early Altair 8800 computer is said to have inspired Bill Gates and Paul Allen to start today’s IT giant Microsoft, died in Georgia on Thursday at the age of 68. Though making of a PC is too complex to recognize one person alone in the industry, Roberts is called by some as “father of the personal computer”. The Altair is widely credited as the first personal computer and for helping inspire the modern computer industry, said a Cnet report. According to Cnet, it was Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS), a company co-founded by Roberts, that introduced the Altair in 1975. When an article on the Altair appeared in the January 1975 issue of Popular Electronics, Allen noticed this and showed the story to Gates. And followed the saga of Microsoft, which had its first offices in Albuquerque, the location of Roberts’ office. > > Read More Henry Edward Roberts dies at 68; Inventor of Early PC That Inspired Bill Gates is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

Justin Bieber Talks Girls, Family, Fame On ‘The View’

‘I just try and take one day at a time,’ he says of his meteoric rise to fame. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber performs on “The View” Monday Photo: ABC NEW YORK — Justin Bieber made history on “The View” as the first guest to make two appearances on the show in the same week. On Monday (March 22), not only did he perform a new track from his new album, My World 2.0 , which comes out tomorrow, he also sat down with the ladies to talk about his meteoric rise to fame and how he takes his family on the road with him. “I just try and take one day at a time. It’s been an amazing roller-coaster ride. My mom usually travels on the road. My grandma’s with me today,” he explained. “Usually I have a tutor, but this is release week so everything is crazy. I miss being able to go and hang out with my friends, but this is an amazing experience.” While Bieber fans lined up outside the studio to try and catch a glimpse of the pop star, inside the audience was full of older women who traveled across the country probably more to catch a glimpse of the show’s hosts than Bieber himself. Yet they kept their energy high for the teen phenom. This summer he’ll be hitting the road for his tour and admitted that having his mom by his side at all times isn’t always that easy. “You know, not a lot of 16-year-old boys are with their mom, so we bump heads sometimes. but we have the best relationship,” he said, adding that it’s easy for him to avoid temptations. “I have the greatest team with me and my mom’s on the road — I don’t want to let her down.” And when he wasn’t dishing to the ladies about his career, he was laughing at a YouTube video of him when he was 12 singing Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.” In a shot of him not shown on the show, he laughed at the footage and whispered to himself, “Oh my!” Citing girls as the inspiration for his new album, he even revealed his celebrity crush, other than Beyonc
