Lil Wayne Drops ‘I Am Not A Human Being’ Video

Mixtape of the same name arrives September 27. By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/ Getty Images Did you think Lil Wayne was playing when he spit the lines “We are the not the same. I am a Martian” on Tha Carter III ‘s “Phone Home”? Not all. Hip-hop’s extraterrestrial rock star dropped a new video Wednesday (September 15) for the title track from his upcoming project I Am Not a Human Being, which comes out September 27, Wayne’s birthday. The new video is mostly Wayne performing, with the lights turned low and his tats glowing in the dark. “I don’t know why they keep playing/ They better replay it/ I’m giving them the blues, Bobby Blue Bland,” he raps on the first verse. “Together we stand and fall on y’all/ Balling with my bloods/ Call it b-ball.” Later, he calls himself a “rhyming oasis.” “I must be sticky, ’cause them bitches got they eyes glued,” he continues. “Young Money, baby, we the sh– like fly food/ Y’all can’t see us, like the bride’s shoes/ … If you think you hot then obviously you were lied to/ And we don’t die, we multiply, and then we come divide you.” The long-awaited Tha Carter IV is dropping in November , if everything goes according to plan. “We might just drop the album that day,” Mack Maine said recently about putting out C4 the day Weezy is set to get out of prison. “Just hope it don’t leak out and drop it that day. I think it would be crazy, the anticipation.” Mack said Wayne is deeply involved in Tha Carter IV ‘s song-selection process despite currently serving his yearlong sentence on Rikers Island. Nicki Minaj Calls Drake Twitter Marriage ‘Mischievous’

‘Drake is just my little brother, and I kid with him all the time,’ Minaj says. By Shaheem Reid Drake and Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images Nicki Minaj promises there were no “Drickis” born in the 24 hours she and Drake were “married.” This past weekend, Nick called into Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 and spoke to DJ Drama about a myriad of topics, including her recent Twitter marriage to (and divorce from ) her fellow Young Money rapper. “Drake is just my little brother, and I kid with him all the time,” said Nicki, who will be performing at this year’s VMA pre-show . “We were just being crazy. I think we were a little bit bored. There’s really never a dull moment. I wouldn’t say we were bored; I would say we were being mischievous. “I was doing an interview, and every day, I see some things written about me that aren’t true,” she added. “I wanted to give the blogs a bit of payback and put my own story out.” When asked if she were still single, Nicki coyly answered, “I’m always single. I don’t date boys. I don’t like boys. It’s true. I don’t change. I think boys are yucky, and that’s it. Nothing more to say.” When it comes to the kings of hip-hop, however, Minaj had plenty to say — especially when she’s on a track with them. Nicki recently appeared on the Kanye West/ Jay-Z collaboration “Monster,” which also guest-stars Rick Ross and Bon Iver. Minaj has gained a swell of support from fans who say she has the song’s show-stealing verse. “I’ve just been blessed to be on a song with two living legends. In my book, Jay and Kanye are icons, and I never in a billion years would have thought I would be on a song with one of them, let alone both of them,” she said. “I’m happy people think I murdered the record. It just feels exciting to be a part of that collab. Seriously.” Nicki also revealed that she has moved to Los Angeles and is still hard at work on her debut LP, Pink Friday. That means no days off — even on Labor Day. “I know a lot is riding on this album,” she said. “I wanna make everybody proud. There are some people that are rooting for me out there. I wanna go in.” What did you think of Nicki and Drake’s Twitter “marriage”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Nicki Minaj Drake

Nicki Minaj And Drake End Twitter Marriage

‘My husband Drake and I have decided to have our marriage annulled,’ Minaj tweets. By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake and Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images Well, that was fast. Hip-hop’s favorite e-spouses, Nicki Minaj and Drake, are no longer together. Only a day after announcing their union on the social-networking site , Minaj tweeted that she and Drizzy have called it quits. “Dear Barbz, My husband Drake and I have decided to have our marriage annulled. We’ll maintain joint custody. Luv, HB,” the Young Money Barbie wrote on Saturday. When asked by Twitter fan MissBrownBear who they were sharing custody of, Minaj “All our SONS.” Hip-hop fans began buzzing on Friday when both MCs wrote on their Twitter pages that they had wed. “Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. :),” Drake tweeted. Minaj also wrote “Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot.” While the duo’s tweets made headlines, the missives were apparently just in good fun. Minaj’s announcement comes after reps for the artists denied that they had ever made it to the altar. Regardless of their marital status, Minaj and Drake have always been tight . Last year, Minaj said that she and her Young Money labelmate are “super-close.” “Before all of this started, I would tell him, ‘You’re a star.’ And he’d be like, ‘You’re a star.’ And we’d kinda been each other’s biggest fans,” Minaj told MTV News. “To see his dreams come into fruition, it makes me very happy.” Earlier this year, Drake said on MTV2’s “Sucker Free Countdown” that “I’ve always really, actually, really had a crush on her, always really loved her, and she’s always just looked at me as, like, her little brother.” However, Minaj said that Drake was playing up their relationship for the entertainment factor and denied rumors that the MCs are more than just friends. “Drake does not have a crush on me,” Minaj said later on “Sucker Free.” “Drake knows how to get you guys’ attention.” Many fans were disappointed by Minaj’s announcement that she and Drizzy are not married. TreyGivesMePPP tweeted to the rapper, “barb you just broke my heart! DRICKI FOREVER!” fashioning catchy portmanteau for the duo. But Minaj gently reminded her followers that they will have to share her eventually. “Barbz 1 day mommy will have to fall in love,” Minaj tweeted . “Don’t b selfish.” What do you think about Nicki Minaj announcing that she and Drake are not married? Drake And Lil Wayne’s ‘Miss Me’ Video Premieres

The now-incarcerated Weezy appears projected on a wall throughout the clip. By Shaheem Reid Lil Wayne and Drake (file) Photo: ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images Drake’s “Miss Me” video featuring Lil Wayne debuted Thursday night (August 19) on MTV. The clip starts with a man in a hood standing in an alley. He’s lighting up a Molotov cocktail and throwing it at the wall. The music starts, and we see Drake performing against a white backdrop, but the shot is wide and reveals a black setting as well. The action cuts to a sexy woman dancing in a room alone, and later we see Drake in that same room, sitting on the floor as the woman shakes it for him. “Miss Me” has heavy performance scenes throughout Drizzy’s verse, and then we see a TV set in the alley. Lil Wayne appears on the wall in the alley rapping, and he again is shown on the wall in the room where Drake and the girl are, like a projection. The Birdman and most of Wayne and Drake’s Young Money family appear in the video as well. As the video comes to a close, it’s revealed that Drake was the man in the hood at the beginning of the clip. “Miss Me” was directed by Anthony Mandler, who has helmed all of Drake’s Thank Me Later videos. ” ‘Miss Me,’ it was something I was so excited to do,” Drake said recently on the set of another Mandler clip, for “Fancy.” “It was something not a lot of people expected me to do, especially with Wayne being in the situation he’s in. We did it as a team, held Wayne down. All the Young Money big dawgs came down — the men of Young Money — to show the muscle, to show we still in full effect. It’s a great piece. It’s darker than the feel of the song. It’s got very much like a youth-in-revolt, rebellious feel to it. I wanted to be aggressive, man. That was my chance to flex my little ‘We did it. We’re still here. Young Money is still in demand.’ And to deliver a message that I feel very strong about. I’m not trying to be the best in the world. I don’t think that’s possible. There’s always somebody better than you. I just hope they miss me, man. So this is it. ‘Miss Me.’ ” The next video Drake and Mandler will shoot is for “Show Me a Good Time.” What did you think of the “Miss Me” video? Does it make you miss Lil Wayne? Chris Brown Puts His Spin On Nicki Minaj’s ‘Your Love’

Singer remixes the Young Money starlet’s hit song as he promises fans a new album in 2011. By James Dinh Chris Brown Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Despite a year of difficult career speed bumps, including his postponed U.K. promotional tour and the controversy surrounding his Michael Jackson tribute performance at the BET Awards, Chris Brown remains optimistic about getting through the rough times. His latest career move is his remix of Nicki Minaj’s hit single “Your Love,” which the singer posted on Twitter and informed fans that something special may be heading their way. “i just smashed this beat!!! UR LOVE REMIX DONE!!! for the ladies,” he tweeted early Wednesday (August 4). On the cover, Brown sings an ode to his female interest as he belts over the song’s Annie Lennox sample and hip-hop backbeats. “Shorty, I’mma tell you this once/ Girl need it (tonight)/ When I do it to you home and do it right, please believe it/ All night long, baby right now/ When you lay in my arms,” he sings during the chorus. Showing off his versatility, Breezy becomes more aggressive during the song’s second verse both vocally and lyrically as he explicitly raps, “Yeah, let me step up to the plate now/ Big kids in the room, no playground/ I wanna kiss everything from the waist down/ Keep ya ass up and your face down.” And it wouldn’t be right if Brown didn’t name-drop Minaj in the mix that praises a woman in and out of bed. “We can role-play, girl, give it to me now/ I’m giving you a massage/ A booty like Nicki Minaj/ Oh gosh,” he croons. Hours after Brown posted his remix, Nicki seemed satisfied with four different remixes of her song as she urged DJs to start spinning. “Ok DJ’s!!! 4 remixes to ‘your love’ by @rickyrozay, @duttypaul, @chrisbrown and @jaysean and they’re ALL DOPE! Play them! 🙂 #pinkfriday,” she said of her song, which currently holds the #1 spot on the Billboard Rap Songs chart . Aside from posting his cover of Minaj’s song, the singer also asked fans if they wanted another Breezy mixtape. “do yall want an “IN MY ZONE 2″!!! just a thought #inmyzone2,” he tweeted . While another mixtape isn’t certain at this point, Brown assured fans that the follow-up to last year’s Graffiti is in the works. “My new album will come next year or sooner but in the meantime i might ‘I MIGHT’ do something special for yall again!!!” he teased. Back in June, Drake said that he and Brown hit the studio together shortly after attending the 2010 BET Awards. It is unknown what, if anything, the duo cooked up, but the Young Money rapper revealed that he wanted to collaborate with others as his project was finished. “I was studio hopping, seeing where I could lend my hand to whoever’s project since I’ve done mine,” Drake said. Lil Wayne Talks Daily Routine, New Lyrics In Letter To Fans

‘Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair,’ Weezy says of his new rhymes. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images Since Lil Wayne went to jail earlier this year, his fans have been curious about how the star is holding up. Artists who have kept in touch with Weezy — like Tyga , Nicki Minaj and Fat Joe — have given updates about the star’s bid, and roughly midway through his sentence, Wayne has written another letter to his fans, opening up about his time in Rikers. In the letter, posted Tuesday (July 13) on his website, WeezyThanxYou.com , Wayne said he’s “counting the days and still smiling” and gives up details about his daily routine. “I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That’s my day,” Weezy wrote. The routine reflects a level of normalcy that experts predicted the star would experience in jail. The superstar MC also opened up about the new lyrics he’s been penning in the pen, writing, “There’s no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair.” In addition, Weezy said the outpouring of support he’s received while in lockup has prompted him to pay closer attention to his words. “I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people’s lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say,” Wayne wrote. Wayne also revealed that he’s keeping up with the pace of music, writing, “I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some.” He might not be into all the latest radio hits, but Weezy did show love to his Young Money artists. “I applaud my Young Money family for what they’re doing. As I’m not surprised. This is what we’re supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early.” The megastar rapper closed the letter by sending detailed messages to dozens of individual fans. The star wrote to one fan (who’s presumably a fan of both Miley Cyrus and Weezy), “Me and Miley? Different, but cool. Enjoy Utah,” and to another, “Thanx for supporting me in the U.K.. Say hi to Lexie for me.” To those he wasn’t able to shout out by name, the artist ended the letter with a simple message: “I thank my fans for appreciating me the way you do.” Are you surprised by Wayne’s daily routine in prison? Drake And Chris Brown Hit The Studio Together

‘I was actually in the studio with Chris Brown for a little bit,’ Drake tells ‘Extra’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Drake Photo: Michael Caulfield/ WireImage With T-Pain keeping a relatively low profile and Lil Wayne midway through his yearlong incarceration, Drake has stepped up over the past year as the king of collabos: He’s dropped bars on records by everyone from Jay-Z and Timbaland to Mary J. Blige and Trey Songz. The Toronto MC shows no signs of slowing down either, as the star recently disclosed that he’s been “studio hopping” and even jumped in the lab with Chris Brown . “Tonight, I’ve just been in the studio. I was actually in the studio with Chris Brown for a little bit,” Drake told “Extra” on Tuesday. Fresh off of a big night for both stars at Sunday’s 2010 BET Awards , it appears Drizzy and Breezy were not content to bask in the buzz and headed straight for the studio shortly after. Drake didn’t mention what, if anything, he and Breezy were cooking up but he did say that he went on the hunt for other possible collaborations. “Then I was studio hopping, seeing where I could lend my hand to whoever’s project since I’ve done mine.” The studio session is not the first time that Drizzy and Breezy have crossed paths. Brown’s ex Rihanna was once rumored to have rebounded with Drake following the pop couple’s highly publicized split; a report that Brown once addressed in song and that Drizzy denied was true . However, Brown and Drake have also publicly appeared cool with each other, with Breezy showing up to Drake’s Thank Me Later listening event earlier this year and briefly filling in for Drizzy during a 2009 Young Money tour date in Virginia. Lil Wayne Personally Thanks Nearly 100 Fans On Blog

Incarcerated Young Money boss expresses gratitude to followers for their thoughts, gifts, prayers on WeezyThanxYou.com. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Lil Wayne posted the third letter to his fans on his website, WeezyThanxYou.com on Monday (June 28). The post follows Weezy’s Mother’s Day letter written last month and and initial note in April written when he first launched the site from prison to communicate with fans. In the new message, Wayne writes that he hopes his fans are enjoying their summer and profusely thanked everyone for their support, from the pictures he’s received to all the letters sent to him at the Eric M. Taylor detention center at New York’s Rikers Island. The rapper only gave a short update about his life behind bars, saying he was doing well. “On my end, I’m alive, breathing and blessed,” Wayne wrote. “You already know how I’m passing time — reading and working out.” The Young Money boss also gave a shout-out to his artists and said the collective had made him proud the night before, as both Drake and Nicki Minaj scored hardware Sunday night at the 2010 BET Awards . Wayne then went on to personally thank nearly 100 supporters who’ve written him letters of encouragement, responding to individuals, including Karla Moy, who runs Drake’s official fan website and Vanessa Satten, the editor of XXL magazine. “First, I thank you for your thoughts and prayers,” he wrote to followers Ashley and Lil Mackenzie. “I would also like you to know that your letter touched my heart. I wasn’t able to keep the wristbands but thank you anyway. Gudda and I send our deepest love to you and Lil Mack.” “Cool middle name,” Wayne told Kyle Rockin McLaughlin. “And I’ll be in W. Palm one day. Hope you’re there.” The rapper is almost halfway through his prison term and appears to be ready to get back to his career, as he told Satten he hopes to grace the cover of the magazine again soon; earlier this month the Cash Money Records superstar recorded a verse from prison for a remix of Drake’s “Light Up.” “Thank you for the love and I can’t wait to be on the cover again,” Wayne wrote.
