A court official says, “They have made that application at (the) High Court today and the judge is expected to respond this afternoon.” The initial 2006 adoption caused outrage in the African nation; Madonna and Ritchie were accused of side-stepping the official adoption process. However, the Hollywood stars appear to have won over Malawian officials with their parenting skills. In a confidential report dated 25 March (08) – which has been leaked onto the internet – Probation Officer S. Chisale at the Ministry of Women and Child Development praises the couple for looking after Banda so well.
