Kush Chronic-les: Study Finds Smokin’ That ‘Mary Jane’ Does NOT Hurt Your Lungs

Looks like another point for the “Legalize It” movement… Smoking a joint once a week or a bit more apparently doesn’t harm the lungs, suggests a 20-year study that bolsters evidence that marijuana doesn’t do the kind of damage tobacco does. The study by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham was released Tuesday by the Journal of the American Medical Association. Unlike cigarette smokers, marijuana users tend to breathe in deeply when they inhale a joint, which some researchers think might strengthen lung tissue. But the common lung function tests used in the study require the same kind of deep breathing that marijuana smokers are used to, so their good test results might partly reflect lots of practice, said Kertesz, a drug abuse researcher and preventive medicine specialist at the Alabama university. On average, cigarette users smoked about 9 cigarettes daily, while average marijuana use was only a joint or two a few times a month – typical for U.S. marijuana users, Kertesz said. The analyses showed pot didn’t appear to harm lung function, but cigarettes did. Cigarette smokers’ test scores worsened steadily during the study. Smoking marijuana as often as one joint daily for seven years, or one joint weekly for 20 years was not linked with worse scores. Very few study participants smoked more often than that. Cigarettes are bad and marijuana…. not so much? Why does this seem like common sense to us? What do you think? Is this a step towards legalizing the herb or just comparing 2 of the same evils? American Country Awards 2011: List of Winners!

Jason Aldean dominated the field with six wins, including Artist of the Year, at the 2011 American Country Awards, where the fans vote and determine the winners. So he’s pretty popular then! Aldean also won Album of the Year by a Male Artist for My Kinda Party and shared Single and Music Video of the Year with Kelly Clarkson for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” The only artist to come close to Aldean was Carrie Underwood, the Female Artist of the Year and a winner for Music Video and Single of the Year for “Mama’s Song.” Absentee Brad Paisley was named Male Artist of the Year, while Blake Shelton took home Music Video of the Year by a Male Artist, plus the Video of the Year. New Artist of the Year Scotty McCreery thanked American Idol for propelling him into his current lofty position, and also performed at the star-studded event. Most stunningly, Taylor Swift (not present) went home empty-handed despite six nominations. That’s okay. Spreading the wealth around a little is okay too. Yelawolf Recruits YouTube Fan For Radioactive Debut

Mona Moua’s video lands her on rapper’s ‘Write Your Name.’ By Rob Markman Yelawolf Photo: MTV News It’s not every day an artist takes a fan and gives them a feature on an album, but with Radioactive, Yelawolf did just that, placing singer Mona Moua on his debut LP. After Moua failed to get into a sold-out Minneapolis show, she went home and recorded “Ode to Yelawolf” and uploaded the original composition to YouTube . “It was actually really good,” Yela told MTV News about the song and video Moua uploaded back in April. “Her melody was good, she could play guitar. … I was a bit blown away by how talented she was.” In the video, Moua strums the guitar while singing about her disappointment after not getting into the sold-out show. “No Trunk Muzik for me,” she sang before integrating Yela song titles like “Mixing Up the Medicine” and “Pop the Trunk” into the rest of her sullen lyrics. Little did Moua know that the heartfelt display would land her on ‘Wolf’s “Write Your Name” on Radioactive, which dropped last week. “We had a record called ‘Write Your Name’ about the unsung hero, and it just so happened that her tone, it just fit perfectly,” he said, crediting the idea to Ghet-O-Vision head Kawan “KP” Prather. “KP had the idea to bring her out and put her on the hook and she killed it.” Produced by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, “Write Your Name” mixes the drums from Rick Ross’ “Aston Martin Music” with a new, melancholy piano melody. On the track, Yelawolf uses his small-town come-up from Gadsden, Alabama, to exemplify how much more untapped talent may be waiting in the wings. Moua sings the all-too-perfect hook, “I’ll write your name across the sky and take away the stars, ’cause you light up the night/ You’re as high as the moon, when you’re here with me/ That’s why I’m gonna write your name for the world to see.” Have you heard “Write Your Name” yet? Paige Duke is Some Sweet Home Alabama Self Shot Porn for Publicity of the DAy

My girl at SMUT! is the best….. She wrote: There’s this reality/dating show on CMT called Sweet Home Alabama. They found 10 city girls and 10 country girls, and shoved them all in a little house together in Alabama so they could fight over some idiot named Tribble Reese. Why you’d want to date somebody named Tribble I’ll never know, but apparently he’s a former quarterback from Clemson or some such nonsense. Yawn! And went onto write One of the girls fighting for him is a former Clemson student named Paige Duke, who went on to be Miss Sprint Cup. Until she was fired for getting naked-ass naked in front of a camera for her then-boyfriend. The boyfriend (who is now an NFL player) leaked the photos, and her career as a glorified bikini model at a car show ended. Right after it happened the pictures pretty much disappeared from the internet, thanks to the tireless (and ultimately pointless) work of her lawyers. And I love bottom feeding girls who pull the whole “they are pics I sent my bf” bullshit….when really they are pics to get more famous cuz you were once on TV and you loved the attention… Every girl has nude pics – and I love to see them…..So here’s Paige Duke’s self shot nudes…. Wiz Khalifa Comparisons ‘Huge’ To Newbie T. Mills

‘I thought that whole signing to a major label, getting on the radio only happened in movies,’ ‘Stupid Boy’ MC tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman T. Mills Photo: MTV News Fire Starter: T. Mills One listen to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and that was all she wrote for young Travis Mills. The 22-year-old Riverside, California, native was so enamored by the multiplatinum rap quintet that he decided to jump into music. “The fact that they could sing and rap at the same time, integrate melody and stuff into their songs, I was blown away,” T. Mills told Mixtape Daily. Now that Mills does in fact blend rap and pop melodies in his music, some are comparing the tatted-up newcomer to Wiz Khalifa. While Mills insisted that he’s his own man, he’s also flattered by the comparison. “I think it’s definitely a compliment. I’m a huge Wiz fan,” he said. “Even for someone to put me in the same category as Wiz is a huge accomplishment for myself because I been f—in’ with Wiz a long time and he’s on top of the game right now.” T. Mills hopes to eventually occupy a similar space. When he was 17, the young rapper began recording songs on his MacBook, and by 18, he was posting his music on MySpace. In 2009, Mills performed 60 shows as part of the Vans Warped Tour, where a dance tent was his stage. He went on to sign with independent label Uprising Records, the home of his 2010 debut Ready, Fire, Aim! Although he’s still a relative unknown, his video for “Stupid Boy” has clocked 1.8 million views on YouTube. And T. Mills is just getting started. At the top of the year, he signed to Columbia Records, dropping his free LP Leaving Home with the label. “Originally, the concept for the album was a mixtape, I just wanted to put out a mixtape,” he explained. “What if we do an album that I give to my fans as gratitude?” he remembered asking the record company. While “Stupid Boy” is a party track, Mills believes he has grown since then, so on Leaving Home, he offers up more than just carefree, feel-good music. “It was my first time in a real studio, so it was my first time having access to all that stuff,” he said of his breakout single. “Before then I just recorded on my laptop. I feel like it was a good learning experience for me. It’s not who I am now but it gave me that platform.” That’s not to say that Leaving Home isn’t fun. There’s the sneakers-and-sex ode “Vans On,” where Mills sings about making love while wearing his skater kicks, for example. And to add balance, there’s also the inspirational “Smoke & Mirrors” and the cautionary “Hollywood.” With his major-label debut scheduled for a 2012 release, it seems T. Mills is well on his way. The reality of it all, though, is still a bit much for the small-town kid. “When I was 19, I didn’t think anything could happen,” he admitted. “I’m from a small town; I thought that whole signing to a major label, getting on the radio only happened in movies.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Yelawolf Drops ‘Hard White’ Remix With T.I., Slaughterhouse

‘In the Shady crew first, for me, it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,’ Wolf tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Yelawolf Photo: MTV News The Shady Records cipher at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards was one of the year’s best hip-hop moments. YelaWolf , Slaughterhouse and Eminem dropped some of the most densely packed rhymes in recent memory. Now, with his newly released remix of “Hard White,” Gadsden, Alabama’s Wolf aims to recapture some of that magic. While Em isn’t present, T.I. ., Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9,” Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden all hold it down lyrically alongside Yela. And just like the Shady Cypher, picking a standout verse on the track could be difficult. T.I. sets it off with his usual swagger as Yela picks up with a vivid story rhyme that details a high-school shooting. Crooked, Royce, Joell and Budden all follow with tightly woven verses, boasting of their rap supremacy — much like the Shady crew did in the BET cipher. “The BET cipher, yeah, we killed it,” Wolf told MTV News last week. “That was a huge day for me, going up to Detroit and having that time with me, Slaughter and Marshall [Mathers]. That’s the first we ever had that closed environment, uninterrupted by fans.” Surely, a room full of respected MCs must get competitive, but when it comes to collaborating with his crew, Yela said he’s actually humbled to be down with such talent. “In the Shady crew, first, for me it’s not to be the best because it ain’t gonna happen,” he said modestly. “You just have to be confident in what you’re doing and know that you might get ate up at any moment by any of these dudes because they’re all so ridiculous and just be honored to be a part of it.” On November 21, Yelawolf is set to drop his debut album, Radioactive. So far we know the album boasts appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock and Gangsta Boo as well as production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and WillPower. Related Artists YelaWolf

‘Glee’ Star Charice’s Father Killed

Singer confirms she’ll pull out of concerts this week to travel back to her native Philippines. By Jocelyn Vena Charice Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images “Glee” star and singing sensation Charice’s father was murdered in the Philippines, and the family tragedy has prompted the singer to pull out of concerts on Wednesday and Thursday, according to The Associated Press. “I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore,” she wrote on Twitter . “I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year.” According to reports, her 40-year-old father, construction worker Ricky Pempengco, had been at a grocery store in San Pedro township near Manila when he came in contact with a drunk man. After he brushed up against the man, the man stabbed him with an ice pick in the chest and back. Police in the area report that a manhunt is currently under way and a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Pempengco doesn’t appear to have been targeted, according to authorities. In another message to her fans, written in Filipino, the singer opened up about her relationship with her estranged dad saying, “We had a really great relationship” and “He’s still my Dad, after all.” Local reports suggest that Pempengco and Charice’s mother split when she and her brother were small. “I loved him and I will still love him,” she added about her father. Charice was first introduced to American audiences when she appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 2008, following that up with an appearance last year. Since then, she has released several songs (“Pyramid,” “One Day”) and appeared on “Glee.” Her second studio album, Infinity, dropped earlier this year. Related Artists Charice
