The-Dream And Christina Milian Separate

A rep for The-Dream confirms that the couple called it quits in 2009. By Mawuse Ziegbe The-Dream and Christina Milian Photo: Todd Williamson/ Getty Images After less than a year of marriage, The-Dream and Christina Milian have separated. The singer/songwriter’s rep confirms to Us Weekly that the couple called it quits last year but kept the split under wraps due to their newborn child. “Terius ‘The-Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful,” the star’s rep said in a statement to Us. “The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward.” Although they separated last year, the pair appeared to put up a united front in recent months. When the duo welcomed their daughter earlier this year, The-Dream maintained that everything was fine on the home front. “I’ve been working like a regular person works in America. They have jobs whether someone’s pregnant or not,” he told MTV News. As recently as June 29, Milian took to Twitter to mobilize support for her estranged hubby’s new album. “Everybody go pick up that LOVEKING album from THE- DREAM ASAP!” Milian tweeted. “Support my boo!” The musical duo embarked on a romance that appeared to get serious very fast. After being spotted together in early 2009, the couple initially denied that the relationship was anything more than a professional partnership (The-Dream brought the singer to his production company). However, the duo later married in September and celebrated the union with multiple ceremonies. Although rumors have been swirling about infidelity on The-Dream’s part, the singer told MTV News that his music isn’t about maintaining a lady-killer persona. “On ‘Love King,’ I’m talking about those girls that like my music and how they’re everywhere,” The star said. “They’re the girls in church, girls in the club, in Miami — my music’s everywhere. I don’t mean that I have girls everywhere; it’s not literal, but women do gravitate to my songs.” Related Photos Before They Got Hitched: The-Dream & Christina Milian Star Gazing: Christina Milian Related Artists The-Dream Christina Milian

Justin Bieber, Snoop, Shakira And More Tweet About World Cup Final

Will.I.Am, Paris and Perez Hilton and others post excitement over Spain’s win over the Netherlands. By Mawuse Ziegbe Justin Bieber Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images As Spain took home its first-ever FIFA World Cup win on Sunday, stars of all kinds took to Twitter to reflect on the final match of the global soccer tourney. British songstress Estelle shouted out the Spanish team, tweeting, “Spain were…on dis ting!!!!! Congrats!!!” Justin Bieber apparently enjoyed the matchup between Spain and the Netherlands, tweeting, “wow…SPAIN!! great game…nothing to be ashamed of.” The Spanish team may have reigned victorious but the Canadian teen showed love to the Netherlands as well. “True champions on both sides,” Bieber wrote. Some stars shared their eager anticipation of the final match with their Twitter followers. Paris Hilton, who was still taking in the games after a run-in with local police over alleged marijuana possession, sent out a picture of an illuminated stadium before the match kicked off. Will.I.Am tweeted his support for the Spaniards before the game: “Spain, please be victorious tonight against Holland…(Pay back for beating my Brazilian team).” Three hours later, as “La Furia Roja” scored the winning goal in overtime, the Peas producer typed, “Vamos Spain…victory.” Gossip-monger Perez Hilton tweeted a similarly succinct message, typing, “Ol

Katy Perry Denies Calling Miley Cyrus ‘Britney Spears All Over Again’

‘Rumor control: I never said sh– bout my girl Miley. I love that ho,’ Perry tweeted. By James Dinh Katy Perry Photo: MTV News Some parents and fans may have issues with Miley Cyrus’ recent image transformation but there’s one person who has no problem with it: Katy Perry. Last week, Life & Style magazine claimed that one of its “spies” at Canada’s MuchMusic Awards heard Katie Perry saying about Cyrus, “she’s Britney Spears all over again. It’s happening right before our eyes.” “No, she’s definitely headed the Britney route,” the source claimed Perry added. “It’s worse. Look at those outfits. It’s bad.” Perry took to Twitter late Friday to clear the air regarding the rumor, insisting that there’s no need for female rivalry in the pop stratosphere. “Rumor control: I never said sh– bout my girl Miley. I love that ho. Mags should stop pitting girls against each other. We all can co-exist!” she tweeted. Whether it’s debunking rumors or getting something off her chest, Perry has long used her Twitter to her advantage. In early June, outlets were quick to jump on a comment Perry made which seemed to be a direct stab at Lady Gaga’s video for “Alejandro.” “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke,” Perry tweeted. Perry later explained that the tweet wasn’t solely directed at Gaga. “Lately, I’ve just been seeing some things that are kind of like, I don’t know, in my own personal feelings, a little bit like not something I would do, I guess.” she told a French radio station.

Diggy Simmons Doesn’t Owe ‘Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010’ Nod To Dad

Vote now to decide the Hottest Breakthrough of the year! By Shaheem Reid Diggy Photo: Atlantic “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010” Candidate: Diggy Simmons Diggy Simmons has been around hip-hop his whole life, but the past several months have been the most pivotal for the 15-year-old. His nomination for Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010 was pretty much one of the easiest decisions to come to. Diggy’s checklist pretty much speaks for itself. Heavy Internet following: check. Acclaimed mixtape ( First Flight ): check. Star quality — a fashion sense that mixes young-boy fresh and grown-man sophistication, charismatic and energetic performances, humble heartthrob demeanor off the mic — check. He also has something no one else in his 2010 Breakthrough peer group does, the legendary lineage. Still, ( Diggy doesn’t have to rely on the fact that his father, Reverend Run, is one third of the greatest hip-hop group of all-time, or his uncle is one of the genre’s most heralded executives (Russell Simmons). The teenager is ready to put in work to solidify his spot. “For real though, I wanna thank MTV for even keeping me in mind for such a title,” he said on his blog, Life of a Jet Setter about his nomination. “Though I’ve only been on the rap scene for seven months now, I work very hard on my music day in and day out. If it’s not recording, I’m just vibing and strategizing on what’s next, and how I can improve. If it’s not that, it’s the other way around. So what I’mma need all my Jet Setters to do is go and vote for me as MTV’s Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010!” Simmons also had a special message about his new mixtape opus, First Flight ‘s sequel, Airborne. “This mixtape is for dreamers, lovers, and believers,” he posted on his Twitter page. “I love the way this project has came out as a whole :)” The tape is near completion. “I vibe out to the beat, listen to it,” Diggy explained to MTV News of his writing process. “A lot of people write in their head. But I’m a little more … I don’t wanna say conscious … I wanna make sure I have everything there, so I usually do it over. I text edit on my Mac, write it up. It doesn’t take me too, too long to write a verse. I usually do the chorus before my verses for the fact I have an idea of what I want the whole track to be about. So, you know, I usually do it piece by piece.” Simmons says he finds his muse in the music of some of today’s top-flight MCs. “A lot of my inspirations in music vary from Lupe [Fiasco], to A Tribe Called Quest, to Mos Def,” he explained. “Real lyrical dudes in the game. A lot of the times when you listen to music, you have to focus on what you listen to. You can pick up the wrong inspiration for your music. [I’m] definitely a Jay fan, Nas fan. I’m a Wu-Tang fan. I may [rap] over some Wu-Tang [beats] possibly. Lupe is one of my favorites. That’s just to name a few.” Diggy and 19 other up-and-coming MCs are in the running to become MTV News’ “Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010” — and the winner will be decided by you! Cast your vote for the “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010” right here . The top five will be revealed beginning on July 19, and the winner will be announced on the “Sucker Free Summit” July 25. Joe Jonas, Demi Lovato Duet Leaks Online

‘Camp Rock 2’ track ‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’ is about opposites trying to make their relationship work. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage In less than a month the “Camp Rock 2” soundtrack will be released, but fans are already getting a taste of what they can expect from it. In a new track leaked online, “Wouldn’t Change a Thing,” Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas sing about two people who, despite being opposites, try to make their relationship work, even if it feels at times like it won’t. In the chorus, the duo sing , “Like fire and rain/ You can drive me insane/ But I can’t stay mad at you for anything/ We’re like Venus and Mars/ We’re like different stars.” Later on in the song they sing, “We’re perfectly imperfect/ But I wouldn’t change a thing.” In an interview on Radio Disney earlier this year, Demi said, “[‘Wouldn’t Change a Thing’] is close to my heart. It’s probably one of my favorite parts of the movie.” “Camp Rock 2” will premiere on September 3 on the Disney Channel. The soundtrack, which features the new song, will be out on August 10. While some dates on their upcoming tour have been rescheduled, with the “Camp Rock 2” tour now kicking off August 7 at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, the pair will hit the road this summer for the rest of the Jonas Brothers’ headlining trek. And despite the fact that Joe and Demi broke up in May, Lovato insists she will hold her own with the guys. “I always hold my own, get it straight!” she joked. “I’m just kidding! It’ll be fun. I’m excited. I’m representing.” And while “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” may make the set list, the guys say fans should brace themselves for a full-on JoBros tour. “It’s a Jonas Brothers tour, as usual. We just thought it’d be great to integrate [other] musical outlets as well,” Kevin said. “We thought it was a great way for our opening acts to have a place in the show as well. It’s gonna be fun, ’cause we know everybody. We’ve been doing a movie together for a while.” What do you think of Joe and Demi’s new tune? Does it make you excited for “Camp Rock 2”? Carrie Underwood And Mike Fisher Marry In Georgia

The couple managed to keep their nuptials under wraps until the big day on Saturday. By Jocelyn Vena Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher (file) Photo: Jeff Kravitz/ Wireimage Carrie Underwood and Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher tied the knot on Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation, a resort near Oconee National Forest in Greensboro, Georgia, according to CMT News . It had been rumored that the pair would make it official this weekend and they did as expected. They said their vows under a tent in front of 250 family and friends, People.com reports. The service included bible readings and classical music. Underwood wore a Chantilly lace gown by Monique Lhuillier. Her bridesmaids also wore dresses by the designer. E! Online reports that other country superstars including Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were in attendance. “We could not feel more blessed to have found each other and to have shared this day with our friends and family that mean so much to us!” the newlyweds said in a joint statement to People that they signed as “Mike & Carrie Fisher.” The wedding planner described the whole affair as “a spiritual expression of their love.” It reportedly cost upwards of $500,000, and security was so tight that guests weren’t even told where they were going until they boarded planes to the resort, which was booked exclusively for the event. The couple plans to live in Nashville and Peterborough, Ontario. As for the honeymoon, when Underwood spoke to UsMagazine.com about it last month, she said that it was all up to Fisher to plan. “That was Mike’s project,” she said. “It’s a surprise. I have no clue where we are going, which is nice. I know it will be warm, that’s about it.” The pair got engaged in December 2009. They met in October 2008 at one of Underwood’s concerts in Toronto. Before taking home several Buckle trophies at last month’s CMT Awards , she told Us, “No matter what happens, I go home a winner. I have the biggest prize, the guy sitting next to me. Win or lose, he is proud of me. Of course, it’s nice to share the good times too!” Leave well-wishes for the couple in the comments below! Walter Hawkins, Grammy-Winning Gospel Singer, Dead At 61

Pastor and leader of Love Center Choir topped the charts from the ’70s to the ’90s. By James Montgomery Walter Hawkins Photo: Ilya Dreyvitser/ Wireimage Walter Hawkins , a Grammy-winning gospel singer, composer and pastor, died Sunday after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61. His brother Edwin a Grammy-winning gospel musician in his own right, told The Associated Press that Walter passed away at his home in Ripon, California, adding that he “suffered bravely but now he will suffer no more, and he will be greatly missed.” Hawkins was born in Oakland and began singing in gospel choirs as a teenager, along with his brothers. In 1967, as a member of the Edwin Hawkins Singers, he recorded “Oh Happy Day,” which would become one of the first gospel-leaning songs to cross over to the mainstream, winning a Grammy and being named one of the RIAA’s Songs of the Century. Following the success of “Day,” Hawkins enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley, where he studied for his divinity degree. While at the university, he also recorded his first solo album, titled Do Your Best, in 1972. The following year, he became a pastor and founded the Love Center Church in Oakland, where he also formed the Love Center Choir. With the choir, he recorded a successful series of albums called Love Alive, which topped the Billboard Gospel Albums charts from the 1970s until the ’90s. The fourth installment, released in 1990, stayed at #1 for an astonishing 33 consecutive weeks. As a songwriter and composer, Hawkins worked with the likes of Van Morrison and Diahann Carroll and was responsible for more than 100 hit songs on the gospel charts. Over the course of his career, Hawkins won one Grammy (he was nominated for nine) and three Dove Awards, and he was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame. At the time of his death, he was said to be working on a brand new Love Alive album, due to be released in the fall. Related Artists Walter Hawkins

Rick Ross Got ‘Focused’ On The Albert Anastasia EP

With his tape dominating the streets, the Bawse tells Mixtape Daily how he got into ‘war’ mode to resuscitate his career. By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross on his new mixtape, Albert Anastasia Photo: Maybach Music Mid-Season Salute: The Albert Anastasia EP Last year about this time, Rick Ross was in war mode, fighting for his career. People had questioned his street credibility and 50 Cent was straight going for his head. This year though, it’s rosy for Ricky Rozay. He has “Super High” getting spins on the radio and the records “(B.M.F.) Blowin’ Money Fast” and “MC Hammer” are dominating the streets. Ross’ whole outlook has changed. “That’s the beauty of art,” Ross told us. “You can take it and channel it any way you want to. Of course, I realize I put a lot of pollution out there as well that I wouldn’t this year. That was a part of me learning. I’ll forever be attracted to some form or fashion of war. I feel it’s competitive but at the same time, I’m focused on my numbers. I’m focused on my business. I’m focused on my brand. I wanna see other things blossom around me, versus back-and-forth with nothing. For the most part, I feel when you prioritize your business, that’s the result — that’s the advice I’ve been given for so long. I’m trying it out.” While Ross’ Teflon Don comes out July 20, for now, we have to turn our attention to one of the hottest mixtapes of the year: The Albert Anastasia EP. “It’s more than just an extended play,” Ross explained to Mixtape Daily of the tape. “Because when I started recording and it was sounding too good, I wanted to put more songs in there than what I wanted to initially. But it’s The Albert Anastasia EP. I named it that because Albert Anastasia was a self-made man. He was a boss. He was a lot less celebrated. He was more focused on getting his job done, handling his business. Of course, he ultimately came to an untimely demise. But I feel when it’s time to go, it’s always untimely, so what’s the difference?” “Sweet Life” with John Legend, “Knife Fight” with Kool G Rap and, of course, “300 Soldiers” are definite highlights. ” ‘Money Maker,’ free Lil Wayne,” Ross said. “Boi-1da did the production. We shot the clip in Barbados; we had a lot of fun out there. The video is real visual. It’s about where we come from and what a lot of people are willing to do to get where they going.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines or follow the Mixtape Daily team on Twitter: @shaheemreid and @mongosladenyc .

Lil Wayne Dropping New EP In September

Weezy’s co-manager says, ‘I’ll probably drop [ I’m Not a Human Being EP] on his birthday, September 27.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Lil Wayne isn’t due to be released from Rikers until November at the earliest, but his co-manager says spankin’ new music from Weezy may be available by September. While Tha Carter IV isn’t expected to hit stores anytime soon, Cortez Bryant, who also serves as CEO of Young Money, said that fans should be able to check out a new Weezy EP by the fall. “I’m putting out a [Wayne EP] called I’m Not a Human Being and I’ll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27,” Bryant told Vibe.com. Bryant said the EP won’t have the fanfare of a high-profile major-label release and revealed that he’s opting instead for a more low-key way to get the music to the masses. “We’re not about to roll out no three-month setup. I’m not even putting it out in stores,” said Bryant. “We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give ’em a hard copy later for fan appreciation,” Bryant said of the release, which is billed as a prelude to Tha Carter IV. Wayne is approximately halfway through his yearlong sentence and may be released early on good behavior. While the Human Being EP may satisfy fans until the star is back on the scene, Weezy prot
