Jay-Z Said Earlier This Year He’s ‘Inspired’ By LeBron James

NBA fans are wondering if James will head to Jay’s New Jersey Nets when his Cleveland contract is up. By Rahman Dukes LeBron James and Jay-Z Photo: MTV News Now that LeBron James has received an early exit out of the NBA playoffs for the second straight year, fans wonder: Will the 2009-10 MVP hang up his Cavs jersey for a move to Brooklyn? It’s no mystery that King James and Jay-Z are bosom buddies and that Jay’s influence on the scoring champ could bring the kid from Akron, Ohio, to the Big Apple. Earlier this year at their “Two Kings” annual event during the NBA All-Star weekend in Dallas, Texas, Hov told a crowd of reporters that he was impressed at LeBron’s growth over the years. “I’m inspired by LeBron James at this moment, this season that he’s having,” Jay said. “I didn’t think that he would get any better. I remember when I first met him — he told me that he played point guard and I was like, ‘You’ll never make it in the NBA.’ I didn’t think he’d make it past half court — he’s 6-foot-8! But I didn’t know how gifted this young man would become. And he’s getting better.” “Growing up, I had many inspirations,” James added. “Many are the same Jay mentioned.” Jay-Z and LeBron share many similarities from the reigning positions in their respective careers down to the origins of their upbringing, as both superstars come from single-parent homes. “I think our biggest inspirations were our families,” Jay continued. “We didn’t have all of this stuff coming around the neighborhood. For us, it was just our mothers, our parents — our strong mothers.” Later in the Q&A session, a reporter asked LeBron if he ever thought about playing for the Dallas Mavericks “Uh …” LeBron paused, looking toward Jay for an answer. “That’s a little self-serving,” Hov shot back at the reporter. “What about the Nets?” another reporter asked. “Nah,” Jay calmly responded. Only time will tell if Jay is pulling our leg — he’s been known to do that. What team would you like to see LeBron James play for? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Jay-Z

Swizz Beatz Wants To ‘Get Really Involved’ In Arts Education

‘I just feel that it’s so important to really be a part of something that’s so amazing and helpful,’ the producer says. By Shaheem Reid Swizz Beatz Talks With Students Photo: MTV News Swizz Beatz met with some of his younger fans Thursday (May 13) in his hometown of the Bronx, New York. The super-producer is not just giving his time and energy to help mold youthful minds, but he’s teaching them some of his skills and donating his money. Swizz has adopted the Bronx Charter School for the Arts, which incorporates arts education with social skills and other academics for its elementary-age students. “I been doing things in that world [of art], but I wanted to take it up another notch and get really involved,” Swizz said. “A lot of people can go to charities and donate certain things and go back to their life — that doesn’t mean the problem is over or the demand of need for a youth is over. I just feel that it’s so important to really be a part of something that’s so amazing and helpful full-time.” Swizz says hopes that when influential and successful individuals get involved in charities they sincerely care about the work. “[I hope they mean it], as opposed to, ‘I’mma go to this charity so I could feel better’ — that’s how people look at it. ‘It’s a good look if I do this.’ But I think it’s a good look if you do it for real and maintain for real. I’m from the South Bronx and the school is not too far from Jackson Avenue, where I used to live — St. Mary’s projects. It’s just super amazing to see kids that come from the ‘hood with so much positive energy in this negative world. “It’s always something amazing going on,” he added about the school. “Yesterday I was there and they got this play called ‘Seussical.’ It’s like a Broadway play for real. They got their stuff together. They got an art auction. I’m gonna get all the celebrities and people I know to make adopting charter schools the thing to do, especially for art. Those are the programs being taken away and those are the programs that help our kids. We can’t take that away. That’s the thing right there that keeps the kids there motivated with hope. When you’ re talking arts and music and different things like [that], which is still a learning [tool] from these things — no disrespect to any other subject. They’re able to teach the kids all the fundamental things in the world through art and music.” Swizz said he’s working out a deal now where he can donate some of the proceeds of his next album to the Bronx Charter School for the Arts as well as other children in need of arts education. There’s no release date, but Swizz — who’s featured in the new video for Diddy’s “Hello, Good Morning” — has been staying busy in the lab working on tracks for Diddy, Rick Ross and Busta Rhymes and has also submitted records for Dr. Dre’s Detox LP. Paramore Perform ‘The Only Exception’ On ‘Ellen’

Band is wrapping up a spring tour before headlining this summer’s Honda Civic Tour. By MTV News staff Paramore’s Hayley Williams performs on “Ellen” Photo: Warner Bros. On Friday (May 14), Paramore took time off from their spring tour to stop by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where they performed a somber, sweet version of their current single, “The Only Exception.” The performance — actually taped Thursday — showcased Paramore’s burgeoning quiet side, with frontwoman Hayley Williams singing in hushed tones, her eyes tightly shut, and guitarist Josh Farro strumming the melody on an acoustic and singing backup. The band’s other guitarist, Taylor York, added dreamy flourishes on an electric. Bassist Jeremy Davis and drummer Zac Farro played it similarly tight, laying down a muted, pretty backbeat. It was a stately, refined performance, perfectly suited for daytime TV, and at the end, the audience cheered wildly, while Williams did a triumphant jig — apparently there were some real-deal Paramore fans in the crowd, too, as Williams finished her little dance and pointed and smiled to a section of the audience — and DeGeneres herself bounded onstage to thank the band, declaring, “I love them!” She then touted Paramore’s Brand New Eyes album and announced that everyone in the studio audience would be receiving a copy. Paramore will wrap their spring tour Sunday and, after a run of festival gigs in Europe, will return to the States to headline the Honda Civic Tour , which kicks off July 23 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Tegan and Sara, New Found Glory and Kadawatha will be joining them on the trek. Williams can also be heard singing the hook on B.o.B’s smash “Airplanes,” and she’s already planning to shoot her cameo in the video. Did you see Paramore’s “Ellen” appearance? Rick Ross Says ‘Super High’ Video Is ‘Like A Flashback Of ‘Easy Rider’ ‘

‘It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video,’ co-star Ne-Yo says of the F. Gary Gray-directed clip. By Shaheem Reid Stacy Dash and Rick Ross Photo: MTV News Rick Ross is sitting on top of the world — in his new video for “Super High,” Ross, along with his lady, straddles his motorcyle on a mountain top. “Shout-out to F. Gary Gray,” Ross said recently on the set of the clip. “That’s my favorite director throughout film. I met him … Diddy introduced me to him one night. When I completed the record, I flew out to L.A. and met with him. I played [the track] for him. I gotta shout him out big time. … But he video is actually like flashback of [the movie] ‘Easy Rider’ — a bunch of homies hoggin’ the highway. We run across a beautiful young lady which happens to be Stacie Dash , and a dude — he’s a d—– bag. I end up snatching her and spending the rest of the evening with her, the way a boss should.” “It’s basically Ross and his gang riding around doing what they do,” guest star Ne-Yo said of the clip. “This is my first time working with F. Gary Gray. So far, so good. He’s a movie director, so everything is gonna have that cinematic edge to it. It’s gonna look like a mini-movie as opposed to just a music video.” Sure enough, Gray choreographed a scene were Ross and his road dawgs surround the sports vehicle being driven by Dash’s original beau and, of course, Ross got a performance scene as well, let his swagger shine in his custom-made leather jacket. In a later scene, Ross and Ne-Yo sit at a table together in a bar filled with tough guys and sexy ladies. While on set, Ne-Yo did say that the song has nothing to do with indulging in narcotics. “It’s just about feeling good,” The Grammy Award-winning singer clarified. “Doing things that maybe regular people can’t do. You work hard so you get to play hard.” Ross explained that he was inspired to write the record while looking down at Central Park from Diddy’s penthouse in Manhattan. “The concept actually came from me and Diddy — we was running around New York City one night, went back to his penthouse and that’s where the actual term ‘super high’ comes from,” Ross offered. “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning. I’m just burning, I’m thinking. [Diddy] turned on ‘Purple Rain,’ Prince. A few homies were in there — D Roc, me and him reminiscing, talking about Biggie. After the conversation I just stopped watching the movie and walked to the huge window. And I was reflecting like, ‘Wow.’ It had me reflecting on how far I came as a artist and as a person. “When you trying to get better as an artist, a lot of times we coming from the streets. We’re flawed in a lot of ways. We trying to get better as people,” he explained. “I was reflecting on that, realizing how significant the title Teflon Don is, even though that was one of my first rap names and one of the first tattoos I got. I just came with the whole first verse looking out the view: ‘From my n—a Diddy view, I think I see his vision too/ ‘Purple Rain,’ over Central Park, chillin’ with my goons.’ I was just capturing them moments and putting it over beats.” Teflon Don is slated to drop on June 29 and Diddy, Kanye West and Jay-Z have all contributed to the project. The Jonas Brothers’ ‘It’s On’ Video Gives Sneak Peek Of ‘Camp Rock 2’

JoBros’ new video was made just after they wrapped the Disney movie. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Lacsina Kevin and Joe Jonas Photo: MTV News Fans will get a glimpse into the world of “Camp Rock 2” on Friday night (May 14), when the Jonas Brothers release their new music video for the track, “It’s On,” off the TV-movie’s soundtrack. Shot just as the guys wrapped up work on “CR2,” which will premiere September 3 on Disney, the guys say that the video perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the sequel. “We shot [the video] back in September, October, and it was a great experience,” Joe Jonas told MTV News at the Young Hollywood Awards on Thursday night. “We were able to get back with the cast, and the video was really fun. Joe added that the video, which was directed by Brandon Dickerson, will give fans a taste of what they will see in the flick. “It has a lot of pieces to the puzzle to what people will see when the movie does come out,” he said. “I think it’s also a little something of what people are going to see when we go out on tour.” “The video is a really cool concept,” Kevin Jonas continued. “It takes on the aspect of the music and just the intensity, the high energy of what the song is. … What’s cool is just the passion of all the people who are singing.” Nick explained that it was a bit of a high-intensity shoot since they filmed “It’s On” at night. “It was good. It was a long night. We shot it overnight, ’cause we wrapped the movie with night shoots so from basically 10 [at night] to 10 in the morning every day [we shot the movie],” he said. “And after the movie wrapped, we shot the video, so we had to stay on that schedule. We stayed up all night and then [had] a flight on the next day. It was [an experience] we’ll never forget.” What’s your favorite Jonas Brothers video? Share your thoughts in the comments. Perez Hilton, Lily Allen Back At War On Twitter

Latest feud began when gossip blogger posted pictures of singer crying at football match. By James Montgomery Perez Hilton Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ WireImage Lily Allen and Perez Hilton have a long (and quite amusing) history of Twitter feuds, stretching all the way back to the winter of 2009, when the two engaged in an epic war of words that culminated in the Brit songstress calling the blogger “a parasite” and “a cheap-ass whore.” It was pretty amazing, to be honest. Round two went down in August of the same year, when Hilton posted a photo of Allen on his Web site (with the caption “Lily Allen + Motherhood = Bad Idea”) and linked to an interview she had given to Britain’s OK! magazine, in which she said she wanted to retire from the music business and raise a family. Hilton, ever the opportunist, used said interview to rip Allen’s virtues as a wannabe mom, writing, “We foresee the afternoon that Lily gets so drunk, she confuses the playpen for the pig pen and her baby has to waddle in mud for hours before someone notices!” Allen — who reportedly had suffered a miscarriage the previous year — was somewhat understandably upset and ripped into Hilton, calling him “an evil bastard” and threatening legal action. (Hilton, of course, responded with “I love you too! xoxo.”) It was sort of disgusting, to be honest. And now, well, the two are back at it again. Late Thursday, Hilton posted pictures of Allen “sobbing out all the vodka” while attending the UEFA Europa League Final match between Fulham FC (whom she supports) and Atl

Bret Michaels May Return To Tour In Two Weeks

After brain hemorrhage, Poison frontman is reportedly prepping for May 28 concert. By Gil Kaufman Bret Michaels Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Bret Michaels is reportedly working extra hard in physical therapy in the hopes of making his return to the stage before month’s end. The Poison rocker, who suffered a nearly fatal brain hemorrhage last month, was discharged from a Phoenix hospital on May 4. And according to People magazine, he is aiming to be back on the road in time for a May 28 show at the Hard Rock in Mississippi. Though a spokesperson for Michaels could not be reached for confirmation at press time, an unnamed source told the magazine that the singer is stepping up his physical therapy to get back in shape for the show on his postponed Roses & Thorns tour. That outing was first interrupted when Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy on April 12. “He’s still in rehab,” said the source. “His doctor told him to do physical therapy once a day, but he’s doing it twice a day, because he wants a speedy, 100 percent recovery.” It’s possible Michaels is pushing hard in order to make it to the May 23 finale of “The Celebrity Apprentice.” The source said that Michaels’ crew is providing his bus drivers with directions to the closest hospitals all along the tour route should the 47-year-old singer face complications. At a May 4 press conference, Michaels’ doctors said he was doing well, walking and talking and expected to make a 100 percent recovery. At the time, physicians said he was still subject to painful blood clots, back pain and headaches. His doctor predicted at the time that Michaels might be able to resume regular activities within four to six weeks, but said that he warned Michaels not to make any promises about when he would get back to work.
