Corey Haim Died Of Natural Causes, Autopsy Reveals

A combination of pneumonia and respiratory and heart trouble led to the actor’s death at age 38. By Larry Carroll Corey Haim Photo: Ron Galella/ WireImage When Corey Haim died , the news shocked fans and pop-culture followers alike. Now, nearly two months later, the results of an autopsy are finally providing answers about what killed the ’80s icon. According to a coroner’s report released Tuesday (May 4), the “License to Drive” star died of natural causes from a combination of pneumonia and respiratory and heart trouble. According to a KTLA report, state Attorney General Jerry Brown told the TV station that the troubled actor illegally obtained more than 550 prescription pills in the months leading up to his death. Brown said Haim had secured such pills as Valium and Soma through seven different doctors who were reportedly “duped.” The report from Craig R. Harvey, Los Angeles chief coroner investigator & chief of operations, however, says: “The toxicology report revealed no significant contributing factors.” Corey Haim: A Life In Photos In addition, the report reads: “The cause of death has been determined to be: Diffuse alveolar damage, community acquired pneumonia, other conditions (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy with coronary arteriosclerosis).” The report concludes with “Manner of death: Natural.” Haim died at age 38 on March 10 at Burbank, California’s Saint Joseph Medical Center. He had collapsed hours earlier at his mother’s apartment in Hollywood. Although Haim’s family said the actor had cut back significantly on the drug addictions that had plagued him for years, a producer on one of his final projects told MTV News in March that he was still struggling with substance problems in 2008. Over the course of three decades in Hollywood , Haim made a name for himself in films like “Lucas,” “The Lost Boys,” “License to Drive” and “Dream a Little Dream.” In 2008, he made a minor comeback alongside fellow ’80s superstar Corey Feldman in “The Two Coreys,” a reality show that chronicled their friendship. David Boreanaz Mistress Will Go Public With Her Story, Lawyer Says

‘The truth will come out,’ Gloria Allred says in a statement to the New York Daily News. By Jocelyn Vena David Boreanaz with his wife Jaime Bergman Photo: Jason Merritt/Getty Images Despite rumors that David Boreanaz and Rachel Uchitel had an extramarital relationship — and the fact that she has the same lawyer, Gloria Allred, as the “Bones” star’s unnamed mistress — Allred says Uchitel is not the woman Boreanaz confessed to having an affair with on Monday. And in a statement to the New York Daily News, Allred said she only called Boreanaz’s lawyer, Marty Singer, to talk to him, not looking for money. “We discussed the possible resolution of my client’s legal claims against Mr. Boreanaz by mediation,” Allred said in the statement. “My client has not told her story to the press, but now that Mr. Boreanaz is attacking her, she has decided to tell the story of their relationship so that the truth will come out.” Although Allred wouldn’t confirm the woman’s identity, she did say, “Neither Rachel Uchitel, nor I as her attorney, have made any claims against David Boreanaz, nor does she have any intention of doing so.” Uchitel’s name has been in the news over the past few months because of her alleged affair with Tiger Woods. The woman that had the affair with Boreanaz reportedly got upset with the actor after he told her they were “exclusive,” even though he is married to Jaime Bergman. Singer claimed that the woman left a “threatening” voice mail for Boreanaz. TMZ reports that despite the affair, Boreanaz’s relationship with his wife is now “stable.” The couple have no plans to divorce, and they were spotted in Los Angeles on Tuesday (May 4) shortly after the news broke. Reportedly, Bergman was the one who convinced her husband to go public with the infidelity.

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Won’t Make A Plea Deal

‘Plea bargains are for guilty people,’ Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, says. By Mark Maurer Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images The lawyer for Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray announced Friday (April 16) that there will be no plea bargain in his client’s involuntary-manslaughter case, according to The Associated Press. No matter what Deputy District Attorney David Walgren presents, attorney Ed Chernoff contends that “plea bargains are for guilty people.” Chernoff also expressed concerns about the jury remaining impartial in a case regarding a revered entertainer. Murray, a 57-year-old cardiologist, previously pleaded not guilty to the involuntary-manslaughter charges brought up against him in Jackson’s death. Murray gave the singer anesthetic propofol and other drugs, as indicated by the autopsy report. Murray’s bail was set at $75,000 bail, nearly triple the amount set for comparable crimes. Walgren is attempting to prove the doctor demonstrated gross negligence when he gave the singer propofol to help him sleep. More specific evidence might come to light at the June 14 preliminary hearing. Murray continues to declare his innocence, and Chernoff reasons that nothing that he gave Jackson “should have” resulted in death. “You may find after you are done watching the trial that it is not nearly as cut-and-dried as has been presented,” Chernoff told the AP. “One thing that simply will never be the truth is that Dr. Murray pumped a bunch of drugs into Michael Jackson and walked out of that room. He’s not that kind of guy.” Murray admitted to police that he administered those drugs to help Jackson sleep and subsequently left his bedside. Cell phone records reveal that Murray made at least three personal calls around that time. A Jackson employee who said he was present in the hospital room told police that Murray interrupted CPR to collect drug vials. Earlier this month, Los Angeles Judge Michael Pastor delayed the California State Attorney General’s Office’s motion to revoke Murray’s medical license until the June hearing. Members of Jackson’s family , including father Joe, mother Kathleen, sister Janet and brothers Randy and Jermaine, were in attendance. Events and new developments surrounding the singer’s sudden death have persisted for the past 10 months. Jackson died June 25 at the age of 50 in his rented Bel Air mansion mere days prior to a comeback tour in London. He had hired Murray to keep tabs on his health during the rehearsals. Rick Ross Responds To DJ Vlad Lawsuit Verdict

Vlad awarded $250,000 in $4 million lawsuit over alleged 2008 By Shaheem Reid Rick Ross at the 2008 Ozone Awards Photo: Ben Rose/Getty Images Rick Ross may have $300,000 less in his bank account soon, but he was all smiles when he called MTV News late Thursday in New York. “I’m sitting in Barneys on 51st and Madison,” Ross said. “Had to pick me up a pair of Mason Martin Margiela [sneakers] and two pairs of Louboutins for this Diddy video we shooting this weekend.” On Thursday at the U.S. District Federal Court in New York, a jury of eight awarded DJ Vlad (real name: Vlad Lyubovni) $250,000 in punitive damages and $50,000 in compensatory damages against Ross. The four-day court proceedings stem from an August 10, 2008, incident involving Vlad and Ross’ Triple C’s group. Vlad alleged that Ross orchestrated an attack on him by the collective at an event at the 2008 Ozone Awards for posting images of Ross dressed in a correctional officer’s uniform on his Web site. In the $4 million suit, Vlad said he suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, nerve damage to his face, cheek, upper lip, teeth and gums, and required seven stitches under his right eye following the alleged attack. Ross has always maintained his innocence in the matter. On Thursday, Ross told MTV News that he’s putting the lawsuit behind him and focusing on the June 29 release of his LP, Teflon Don. “I’ve been fighting a $4 million lawsuit for the last two years,” Ross said. “My defense was a success. I’ve got to salute Xavier Donaldson, my attorney. Whenever an artist or anybody is put in a position such as a lawsuit in this capacity, so much evidence is represented — videotapes, what have you — to be able to walk out of a courtroom giving the plaintiff less than 10 percent of what he requested, I consider my defense a success. God bless America! The lawsuit is done. Even though I plan to appeal the decision, I thank the courts for the monetary decision that they made. They were extremely lenient, I appreciate that. It’s back to the business for the boss.” Although the amount he’s paying is nothing to sneeze at, Ross has a positive take on the verdict. “It’s a couple of papers, but it was a two-year-long case,” Ross said. “After court expenses, etc., the plaintiff may get $40 or 50K. I’m blessed to be in the situation I’m in. Four mil was at stake. It’s behind me.” For his part, Vlad tweeted “Today is a great day” on Friday morning. Vlad was not available for comment, but on Friday (April 16) his attorney, Brian D. Caplan of Caplan & Ross (no relation to Rick Ross), told MTV News of the verdict: “There is no place in civilized society for members of the media to have to fear retribution for their news coverage and commentary. The jury awarded Mr. Lyubovny $250,000 in punitive damages against Rick Ross to send a message that such conduct will not be tolerated or condoned.” Related Artists Rick Ross (Hip-Hop)
