Surprise: The Mormon-Loving Salt Lake City Tribune Officially Endorses President Barry-O Over Money Makin’ Mitt!

Mitt’s face must be crunchy… Salt Lake City Tribune Endorses Mitt Romeny Via Salt Lake City Tribune Nowhere has Mitt Romney’s pursuit of the presidency been more warmly welcomed or closely followed than here in Utah. The Republican nominee’s political and religious pedigrees, his adeptly bipartisan governorship of a Democratic state, and his head for business and the bottom line all inspire admiration and hope in our largely Mormon, Republican, business-friendly state. But it was Romney’s singular role in rescuing Utah’s organization of the 2002 Olympics from a cesspool of scandal, and his oversight of the most successful Winter Games on record, that make him the Beehive State’s favorite adopted son. After all, Romney managed to save the state from ignominy, turning the extravaganza into a showcase for the matchless landscapes, volunteerism and efficiency that told the world what is best and most beautiful about Utah and its people. In short, this is the Mitt Romney we knew, or thought we knew, as one of us. Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee. From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: “Who is this guy, really, and what in the world does he truly believe?” The evidence suggests no clear answer, or at least one that would survive Romney’s next speech or sound bite. Politicians routinely tailor their words to suit an audience. Romney, though, is shameless, lavishing vastly diverse audiences with words, any words, they would trade their votes to hear. Wow, tough crowd… The newspaper then went on to make a pretty convincing case for why they support President Obama for another term. And what of the president Romney would replace? For four years, President Barack Obama has attempted, with varying degrees of success, to pull the nation out of its worst financial meltdown since the Great Depression, a deepening crisis he inherited the day he took office. In the first months of his presidency, Obama acted decisively to stimulate the economy. His leadership was essential to passage of the badly needed American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Though Republicans criticize the stimulus for failing to create jobs, it clearly helped stop the hemorrhaging of public sector jobs. The Utah Legislature used hundreds of millions in stimulus funds to plug holes in the state’s budget. The president also acted wisely to bail out the auto industry, which has since come roaring back. Romney, in so many words, said the carmakers should sink if they can’t swim. High praise for the POTUS. In considering which candidate to endorse, The Salt Lake Tribune editorial board had hoped that Romney would exhibit the same talents for organization, pragmatic problem-solving and inspired leadership that he displayed here more than a decade ago. Instead, we have watched him morph into a friend of the far right, then tack toward the center with breathtaking aplomb. Through a pair of presidential debates, Romney’s domestic agenda remains bereft of detail and worthy of mistrust. Therefore, our endorsement must go to the incumbent, a competent leader who, against tough odds, has guided the country through catastrophe and set a course that, while rocky, is pointing toward a brighter day. The president has earned a second term. Romney, in whatever guise, does not deserve a first. If Money Makin’ Mitt can’t even convince his own people (Mormons) to f**k with him, then he’s got a tough road ahead of him. Image via AP

Republican Joe Walsh On Abortion: No Exception For ‘Life Of The Mother’ Thanks To ‘Advances In Science And Technology’

Another republican man made an out of pocket statement on abortion ! Nice to know so many of these GOP dudes are OB/GYN’s all of a sudden. According to The Huffington Post : Republican Rep. Joe Walsh, running against Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth in Illinois, told reporters Thursday night that there should be no abortion exception for the “life of the mother” because “with modern technology and science, you can’t find one instance” in which a woman would actually die, according to a radio station. Walsh, of course, is flat wrong. “There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing, with advances in science and technology,” Walsh said. Walsh’s remarks echo Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), who similarly relied on an ignorance of science and medicine to proclaim a belief that women’s bodies are able to prevent pregnancy in cases of “legitimate rape.” GOP establishment figures attempted to cast Akin as a lone extremist whose views are outside the mainstream of the party. But Walsh’s fresh comments make that distinction more difficult to maintain. Walsh and Akin, along with GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan (Wis.) cosponsored legislation that would have redefined rape as “forcible rape.” Walsh previously defended Akin during what he called a “pile on” in comments reported by HuffPost partner Elmhurst Patch. “What he said was offensive, insulting and wrong, but I’m bothered by this rush to pile on,” Walsh said. “And I’m bothered by the silence of members of our own party to stand up for him.” Walsh wouldn’t have to go far to find a counter-example that undermines his medical theory. Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) has spoken movingly on the House floor about needing an emergency procedure to terminate a pregnancy that threatened her life. Scary to think how many of these old azz white men who “speak for us” feel this way about women’s rights! Images via facebook

Hi Haters: Shady GOP Debate Analysts Getting Desperate For Votes Try To Pull The ‘Angry Black Man’ Card On President Obama

What debate were these people watching?? Desperate GOP Debate Analysts Say President Obama Appeared ‘Angry’ During Second Presidential Debate If you tuned in to last night’s second round of Presidential debates between President Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, then you may have had more than few opinions on how each candidate performed. But one takeaway seemed to be the focus of far right-wingers from the evening, and that was President Obama’s “anger” during the debate. Confused? So are we. While both President Obama and Mitt Romney came across as confident and ready for each other, if anyone, it was Money Mitt who spent most of the night on the defensive, often to the point of displaying downright child-like disrespect for the President. But Republican like CNN consultant Alex Castellanos tried their best to get viewers to believe that it was the other way around, with statements like this one: “The President was better in this debate. In fact, he was repeatedly angry and showed that anger.” Did you think the President came across as angry in last night’s debate?

The Blame Game: The Game Says It’s Camel’s Fault That Barry O Had A Weak Azz Performance During The First Presidential Debate, Plus Defends Stacey Dash

Doesn’t this ninja every get tired of hearing himself talk?? The Game Blames Jay-Z For President Obama’s Poor Debate Performance Via V103/CBSLocal With the second Presidential debate on deck, The Game has joined the ranks of rappers for Obama, while defending the newly minted Mitt Romney supporter Stacey Dash. The Game admitted that President Obama‘s debate performance from October 3 was lackluster, but he is still standing by the president. “I’ve seen the debate: words were fumbled, certain topics weren’t covered correctly,” he told CBS Local. “But he’s Obama. He probably was listening to Jay-Z before he got up there and was a little bit in the zone and couldn’t get it together. But I love Obama he got my vote still.” To be sure, Obama has bragged in the past that he has Jay-Z in his iPad and the the two have enjoyed a cozy relationship during this election cycle. The rap mogul and his pop star wife, Beyonce, hosted a $40,000 per plate fundraiser in September for the president. Jayceon goes on to say: “Let me tell you something, Obama could have comeoout and said his A-B-Cs in the debate and he would have gotten my vote,” he told CBS Local. “I like Obama, he’s cool he got swag and that’s my president. Mitt Romney is a Republican. I’m not down with anything they stand for. Not to diss anybody else’s beliefs and what their vote is but I like Obama. He can’t do me no wrong.” The Compton MC also took a second to defend his friend Stacey Dash’s decision to support Money Makin’ Mitt. “I don’t understand what everybody’s gripe is with that,” he said. “We live in the world [where] we try as people to become more non-racial. Every black person in the world doesn’t support Obama. …Why are we slamming her? Maybe she has different views and opinions, she should be entitled.” Maybe Barry O was listening to the wrong Jay-Z song, maybe he should have played “99 Problems (But A Mitt Ain’t One), instead of soft and polite “Excuse Me Miss”. As far as Stacey Dash goes, who cares who she votes for, just make sure YOUR Black, White, Mexican, Asian, Indian, a$$ is at the polls on November 6th!

Put On Blast!! Charity Worker Calls Paul Lyan’s Azz Out On Soup Kitchen ‘Photo Op’!!

Looks like Paul thinks he can keep fakin’ us all out! During his campaign run in Ohio , the good ‘ole boy thought it’d be a cool idea to stop into a soup kitchen unannounced and ‘help out’. According to The Washington Post : The head of a northeast Ohio charity says that the Romney campaign last week “ramrodded their way” into the group’s Youngstown soup kitchen so that GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan could get his picture taken washing dishes in the dining hall. Brian J. Antal, president of the Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society, said that he was not contacted by the Romney campaign ahead of the Saturday morning visit by Ryan, who stopped by the soup kitchen after a town hall at Youngstown State University. “We’re a faith-based organization; we are apolitical because the majority of our funding is from private donations,” Antal said in a phone interview Monday afternoon. “It’s strictly in our bylaws not to do it. They showed up there, and they did not have permission. They got one of the volunteers to open up the doors.” He added: “The photo-op they did wasn’t even accurate. He did nothing. He just came in here to get his picture taken at the dining hall.” Ryan had stopped by the soup kitchen for about 15 minutes on his way to the airport after his Saturday morning town hall in Youngstown. By the time he arrived, the food had already been served, the patrons had left, and the hall had been cleaned. Upon entering the soup kitchen, Ryan, his wife and three young children greeted and thanked several volunteers, then donned white aprons and offered to clean some dishes. Photographers snapped photos and TV cameras shot footage of Ryan and his family washing pots and pans that did not appear to be dirty. Antal, a self-described independent voter, said that he “can’t fault my volunteers” for letting the campaign in but said that the campaign “didn’t go through the proper channels.” He noted that the soup kitchen relies on funding from private individuals who might reconsider their support if it appears that the charity is favoring one political candidate over another. “I can’t afford to lose funding from these private individuals,” he said. “If this was the Democrats, I’d have the same exact problem.” He added that the incident had caused him “all kinds of grief” and that regardless of whether Ryan had intended to serve food to patrons or wash dishes, he would not have allowed the visit to take place. “Had they asked for permission, it wouldn’t have been granted. … But I certainly wouldn’t have let him wash clean pans, and then take a picture,” Antal said. Churches Defy The IRS With Plans To Screen ’2016: Obama’s America’

That controversial documentary is back in the headlines again , and it’s all because some well-known mega-churches plan to hold screenings of the film in the coming weeks! According to The Hollywood Reporter : A handful of churches already have signed on before the filmmakers even started to market the initiative. One of them, the influential mega-church Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, licensed the film for $299 and will show it to an expected 500 congregants Saturday, and Calvary Chapel Downey did likewise for the following Saturday. Neither church responded to an interview request from The Hollywood Reporter. According the IRS code, 501(c)(3) organizations, including churches, are restricted from electioneering, which includes actively supporting or opposing one presidential candidate over another. But organizations have been known to challenge such boundaries. Conservatives, for example, routinely question whether the self-described “progressive” organization Media Matters for America is deserving of its tax-exempt status. The law is murky, too, as applied to churches. Pastors are allowed to endorse candidates on a personal level and even lend their names to candidates for use in political ads, as long as the church is left out of the equation. This week, for example, the Rev. Billy Graham met with Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and told him that he would do “all I can” to help him win, and Graham had no problem with the campaign dstributing photos of the meeting and speaking to reporters about the de facto endorsement. Some conservative churches want the same partisan privileges that individuals such as Graham enjoy, so they have been purposely flaunting the law, arguing that liberal-oriented churches get away with partisan behavior all the time. One popular refrain, for example, is that the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago were firmly behind Obama’s presidential run in 2008, so why should any church be prevented from supporting Romney in 2012? Last Sunday, hundreds of conservative preachers across the country participated in Pulpit Freedom Sunday, an event staged once a year since 2008 whereby church leaders endorse political candidates and positions. Organized by Alliance Defending Freedom, its goal is to force a response from the IRS so that the issue can be resolved in a court of law, said the group’s senior legal counsel Erik Stanley. “The 58-year-old Johnson Amendment in the tax code — which is what the IRS uses to restrict what pastors can and cannot say from the pulpit — is unconstitutional,” Stanley said. Naturally, some liberals disagree. Two days ahead of Pulpit Freedom Sunday, Brendan Kiley, who has written for Newsweek and the Forward, wrote at TheStranger.com that “over a thousand American preachers are going to strike a craven blow against the separation of church and state and doll it up as if they’re doing liberty and the First Amendment a favor.” Dinesh d’Souza, the star and co-director of 2016, told The Hollywood Reporter that churches should not fear the IRS if they screen his movie. “The last time I checked we still live in a free country,” he said. “My film takes no partisan sides – I don’t urge a vote for or against Obama – I just want people to think and make an informed decision. This film is well within the limits of protected free speech in a church setting.” While some legal scholars agree with those sentiments, current law may not be on the side of churches that license 2016, Stanley said. Like it or not, churches have always dipped their feet in politics. How do you feel about preachin’ politics from the pulpit?? Images via facebook

Wyclef “Suspect” Charity Shut Down, Being Investigated by State of New York Inbox

We always new something was up with this shady azz mafuckah! After doggin’ Lauryn , running for Presidency of his beloved home country, hookin’ up his boo-thang mistress through his organization, and paying himself ridiculously high performance fees in the name of ‘fundraising’, Wyclef’s Yele Haiti charity has been officially shut the fawk DOWN!!! According to Gawker: …Yele Haiti was the beneficiary of a massive flood of donations in the wake of the Haiti earthquake in 2010—more than $16 million in that year alone. All the money brought scrutiny, and in turned out that Wyclef had used the charity to pay himself rent for space in his studio, award himself $100,000 to perform at a Yele Haiti fundraiser, pay $105,000 to his mistress, cancelled one fundraiser because Yele couldn’t meet his fee for playing, and was generally incapable of providing the sort of disaster relief Haiti desperately needed in the wake of the earthquake. Now, the Times’ Deborah Sontag reports, the charity has finally called it quits, “leaving a trail of debts, unfinished projects and broken promises.” A New York state attorney general investigation is currently underway into the group’s finances, and “has already found financial improprieties,” according to Sontag. A forensic audit found that nearly 10% of Yele’s income from 2005 to 2009 was improperly funneled to Jean and his friends. The forensic audit examined $3 million of the charity’s 2005 to 2009 expenses and found $256,580 in illegitimate benefits to Mr. Jean and other Yéle board and staff members as well as improper or potentially improper transactions. These included $24,000 for Mr. Jean’s chauffeur services and $30,763 for a private jet that transported Lindsay Lohan from New Jersey to a benefit in Chicago that raised only $66,000. Sontag turned up plenty of other examples of Jean’s profligacy: $600,000 spent on Yele’s Haiti headquarters, which are now abandoned. More than $300,000 on “landscaping.” More than $400,000 spent on food and beverages. Hundreds of thousands on projects that simply never happened: Some of Yéle’s programming money went to projects that never came to fruition: temporary homes for which it prepaid $93,000; a medical center to have been housed in geodesic domes for which it paid $146,000; the revitalization of a plaza in the Cité Soleil slum, where supposed improvements that cost $230,000 are nowhere to be seen. If you want to help Haiti, give your money to Partners in Health. WTF. Why the hell are you charging your charity for your dayum car services and Blohan’s private jet?? The next time you think about donating to some celebs ‘charity’, do your research first. Images via Getty
