Inglewood’s Sabi finally gives us a look at her “Wild Heart” with her Mike Mahil-directed debut video. The song surfaced online last summer spawning a Zeds Dead dub-step remix and received a boost in notoriety after being used in the trailers for E!’s “Kim & Kourtney Take New York” reality TV series. “Wild Heart” comes on the heels of a successful 2011 for Sabi with features on Cobra Starship’s “You Make Me Feel” and Britney Spears’ “(Drop Dead) Beautiful,” joining the latter and Nicki Minaj on their Femme Fatale tour. Lady Gaga, Adele and Lil Wayne make top 10 By Gil Kaufman Taylor Swift Photo: Getty Images Lady Gaga , Katy Perry and Adele had huge years in 2011, with major tours, strings of hit singles, Grammy wins and #1-hogging chart-topping albums. But when Billboard magazine compiled its 2012 list of “Music’s Top 40 Money Makers” it was Taylor Swift who ruled them all. In fact, the 22-year-old country pop darling out-earned all of her fellow ladies combined. According to the magazine’s calculations, Swift earned her #1 spot on the earner’s list thanks to reported earnings of $35.7 million in the 2011 calendar year. Those earnings came from a combination of revenue from quadruple-platinum-plus the sales of Speak Now and its accompanying tour, which grossed $88.5 million in the U.S. alone. But because Swift writes her own songs, she also rolled up a big chunk of change in songwriting royalties as well. Right behind Swift was iconic rock band U2, who earned a reported $32.1 million thanks to their record-setting 360 tour — which grossed a whopping $736 million total over two years — including $50 million in merchandise sales and 1.4 million in digital track sales. Country singer Kenny Chesney was #3 with $29.8 million, followed by previous tally topper Gaga at #4 with $25.3 million. She stayed in the top 5 thanks to sales of Born This Way and its accompanying Monster Ball tour, which grossed more than $51 million. She also moved 12.7 million digital tracks. Lil Wayne rounded out the top 5 with $23.1 million, made up of 12.3 million in digital track sales, $44.7 million in tour grosses and cash from his gig as founder of Young Money Entertainment. The rest of the top 10: Sade (#6, $16.3 million), Bon Jovi (#7, $15.8), Celine Dion (#8, $14.2 million) and Jason Aldean (#9, $13.4 million). Adele rounded out the top list at #10 with $13 million, mostly from the unstoppable streak of her 21 album’s chart run, which included sales of 6.7 million copies last year alone. The “Glee” cast were just outside the top 10 at #11 ($12.5 million), Katy Perry hit #14 (11.9 million), Britney Spears was at #16 ($10 million) and like her sisters in pop, Rihanna made it to #22 ($7.6 million) through a combination of album and single sales and touring revenue. Other notable entries: Enrique Iglesias (#23, $7.4 million), Usher (#30, $6.2 million), Foo Fighters (#31, $6 million), Justin Bieber (#35, $5.5 million), Kanye West (#39, $5.3 million) and Linkin Park (#40, $5.1 million). Billboard calculated the figures based on proprietary data from its Boxscore archives for concert grosses, Nielsen SoundScan for sales of physical and digital albums, singles and ringtone sales, and Nielsen BDS for terrestrial radio play and streaming service information. Simon Cowell is reportedly putting a sizable amount of money where his headline-making mouth is. A week after telling Billy Bush he’s “fascinated” by Britney Spears and impressed by her “star power” and “resilience,” reports are now surfacing that Cowell and The X Factor producers have offered the pop sensation $10 million to come on board as a season two judge. The news comes soon after Janet Jackson turned down a rumored X Factor offer and a few weeks after Cowell shot down the notion that he made a $100 million offer to Beyonce. No word yet from Spears or any reps regarding the possibility of her hiring, but should she accept this deal? Would Britney make a strong X Factor judge?
The Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga, has become the first person to attract over 20 million followers on Twitter, breaking the barrier over the weekend. Gaga, 25, has held the title of most followed Twitter user since August 2010, when she surpassed Britney Spears, whose 13.5 million followers are still Top 10. While Spears and most celebs like Kim Kardashian primarily have their manager(s) handle Twitter duties, Gaga has claimed to personally maintain her account. She regularly uses it to interact with her fans, share original pictures and make major announcements, no doubt contributing to her “Queen of Twitter” status. Interestingly, the five most-followed people on Twitter are all musicians, led by Gaga (20 million), Justin Bieber (18 million) and Katy Perry (15.7 million). Among the many divas who’ve been whispered about as possible replacements for Nicole Scherzinger on “The X Factor,” Ms. Jackson seemed like the most intriguing. The soft-spoken star has plenty of experience on TV — including starring roles as a teenager in “Good Times,” “Diff’rent Strokes” and “Fame” — but taking a seat next to Simon Cowell for the second season of his singing show just isn’t in the stars. After weeks of rampant speculation, Jackson told The Insider that she’s taking her hat out of the ring due to scheduling conflicts. Cowell said that he had his eye on two women to replace Scherzinger and his reality TV bestie, Paula Abdul, as he seeks to retool the show after a less-than-spectacular first season. The speculation mill has spun out the names of everyone from Jackson to Britney Spears, Pink, Mariah Carey and even the late Whitney Houston. Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush are back together ? Please. That rumor is so last week. The latest issue of In Touch Weekly takes this chatter one… hundred steps further by claiming Kim and Reggie are making “secret plans to elope.” So secret, apparently, that they’re the topic of this tabloid’s cover story: Earlier this month, an anonymous source tells the magazine, Kim met Reggie in Miami and “didn’t go out once,” clearly meaning the couple was plotting a quickie, quiet marriage somewhere. “They weren’t seen in public together, per his request,” the insider adds. Kim did recently tell Allure that her next relationship will be far more private , so it’s possible she and Bush are at it again, on the DL. But the day Kim Kardashian gets married away from television cameras is the day Rihanna starts dating the man who beat her to a bloody pulp again. What’s that, sidebar of In Touch cover? Oh God no.
