Britney Spears’ Award Winning Booty

I didn’t watch the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards last night, I can’t spend four hours watching morons in stupid outfits pat each other on the back for their computer generated singing abilities, so I’m a little surprised by these pictures of Britney Spears . Not because she looks pretty damn good, clean and sober and showing off an amazing little booty…. But because she’s holding a couple of awards. What the hell could she have won? Britney Spears Reveals Next Single At VMAs

Singer confirms to MTV News that ‘Criminal’ is next up from Femme Fatale. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James Montgomery Britney Spears at the 2011 VMAs Photo: MTV News Britney Spears may have been looking back on her impressive career during a Jo Calderone-helmed tribute at Sunday night’s VMAs , but there’s still so much for fans to look forward to. The singer has a lot up her sleeve after taking home the Moonman for Best Pop Video for her “Till the World Ends” clip and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award — and she revealed all to MTV News. There’s been some hot debate about what the singer’s next Femme Fatale single is going to be, and finally her loyal fans are getting the confirmation they’ve been waiting for. “I don’t if I’m at liberty to tell,” she teased MTV News backstage at the VMAs. “But I will anyways: It’s ‘Criminal.’ ” The slow jam should make for some interesting visual fodder, and Spears told us she knows what the video will look like, but she’s going to keep everyone on their toes a little longer. “Actually the song, when I first heard it, it’s really different and it’s not anything I’ve heard like this before. So I really wanted to deliver this song. I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting,” she said, teasing, “You’ll have to see.” She’s also set to hit the road again when the Femme Fatale Tour heads to Europe. She’ll be joined by Joe Jonas for select dates. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards have wrapped, but the real action is just getting started! VMA Main Stage Designer Aimed To Blow Minds With Set

‘It looks more like a big city and less like a stage,’ Florian Wieder explains. By Gil Kaufman Chris Brown performs at the 2011 VMAs Photo: Jeff Kravitz/Film Magic When you settled in on the couch at home on Sunday night to watch the 2011 Video Music Awards , it probably felt like you were going back to the future. As in years past, the main stage for the show was a visual spectacle. This year the theme was time travel, and the stage’s designer was intent on making you feel as if you were on a mind-tripping journey. “We met up half a year ago and [VMA Executive Producer Jesse Ignjatovic] came up with the idea to create a time tunnel,” explained VMA main stage production designer Florian Wieder of the psychedelic set that looked like a cross between an alien landing ship, the floor of a 1970s disco and the baddest midnight laser-light show ever. “That’s one of the reasons why the whole design is based on a tunnel that is right in the center of the stage.” Like the pre-show , which shared some of the same curvy, intergalactic whimsy, the main broadcast mixed undulating wave forms with bright, pop-art-style colors and a black and white theme to set the stage for a galaxy of performers, including Adele, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Kanye West, Beyonc

‘Jersey Shore’ Stars Escape ‘No Joke’ Hurricane Irene For VMAs

‘I was not missing the VMAs for nothing,’ Pauly D tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian Sammi, Ronnie, Pauly D and Vinny Photo: MTV News As Hurricane Irene bore down on the East Coast and the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards heated up on the West, “Jersey Shore” stars Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi, hopped a last-minute private jet from New Jersey to Los Angeles. Nothing was going to stop them from missing the VMAs. “We had to get out here for the VMAs,” Vinny told MTV News hours after touching in Los Angeles. “MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We wouldn’t miss it for the world.” His pal Pauly D, meanwhile, had been safely kicking back in Oklahoma City after an earlier brush with the hurricane in North Carolina while touring with Britney Spears . “Irene got nothing on my blowout,” he declared, while acknowledging the storm poses a serious risk to the public. “I was nervous. This storm’s no joke,” he said. “Immediately I texted Vinny, because I didn’t think we were going to make it. … I thought I was going to have to fill in for everybody. I can’t talk for everybody. I talk a lot. But it was no joke, and I was not missing the VMAs for nothing. Seriously, I was coming here. I didn’t care how I was coming here, but I was going to make it.” It’s no doubt going to be a big night for the “Shore” kids. The highly-anticipated episode showcasing the resolution of Ronnie’s dustup with the Situation is set to air at 7 p.m. ET immediately before the VMA Pre-Show . And as soon as “Jersey Shore” ends, the cast will be making their way down the VMA Pre-Show black carpet and settling into prime seats for the main event . But while they kick back and enjoy all the VMA craziness, they’ll be thinking of their friends and family back home. “Our prayers go out for everyone on the East Coast,” Vinny said. “We’re looking out for them, but I think they’re going to be all right.” The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Katy Perry, Adele To Continue Ladies’ VMA Hot Streak?

Video of the Year Moonman has gone to a woman every year since the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. By Jocelyn Vena Past Video of the Year winners meet 2011 Video of the Year nominees Photo: Getty Images/ Columbia/ Capitol/ MTV News Every year since 2007, a woman has taken home the Video of the Year Moonman at the MTV Video Music Awards . The ladies really have become the undeniable stars of the category. So, who has won the prize the past four VMAs? In 2007, Rihanna (featuring Jay-Z) won it for “Umbrella.” A year later, in 2008, Britney Spears dominated with “Piece of Me.” Beyonc&#233 took it in 2009 for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It),” and Lady Gaga (and her meat dress) won it last year, 2010, for her “Bad Romance” video. Sunday night, will a woman once again take home the ultimate Moonman for Video of the Year? Well, there’s a 40 percent chance, mathematically, that a female artist will win the prize. Two of the five nominees are women: Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”) and Katy Perry (“Firework”) face off against the Beastie Boys, Bruno Mars and Tyler, the Creator. Will the ladies cancel each other out, or will one of them rise victorious? “I think it has to be a lady this year, as in my mind, it’s a two-person race between Katy Perry and Adele ,” Entertainment Weekly staff writer Kyle Anderson told MTV News. “The former because it seems like an appropriate culmination to an unprecedented chart-ruling year, and the latter because it’s a feel-good story of quality and skill triumphing over glitz and artificiality.” While Anderson notes it could go either way regarding Adele and Perry, celeb blogger Perez Hilton had a more definite idea who will win. “The women continue their hot streak. Without a doubt, the winner is going to be Adele,” he predicted. “This is her year. She’s been the critical darling and has also been embraced by the masses in a way we haven’t seen in a really long time. She’s actually selling albums, week after week, and lots of them. She deserves to win every single award she’s nominated for.” Anderson added that the performances scheduled for the night are a major indication that a lady will win. “Either way, it’s going to be five straight victories for XX chromosomes,” he predicted. “And it should also be noted that considering the biggest performers will also be female — Adele, Lady Gaga, Beyonc

Father of Real Housewives of New Jersey Star Arrested for Arson, Money Laundering

It’s on a very different level than the tragedy of Russell Armstrong’s suicide on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills , but another installment in this Bravo franchise is facing yet another scandal. Matt Holmes – the father of Ashlee Holmes and former lover of Jacqueline Laurita (pictured) – has been arrested in Texas for arson, insurance fraud and money laundering. He and his wife, Jodi Sue, were booked for a fire that destroyed their home in March. According to Radar Online, a witness has come forward and said Matt started the fire in order to collect on a $429,000 insurance policy. The couple then allegedly used this cash to purchase items such as a diamond ring. Local authorities are working with the FBI on the case, but Ashlee has already taken to Twitter to defend her father: “FYI- my parents have NOT been indicted..this whole thing was started by a disgruntled employee..they are INNOCENT &that’s all i have to say.”

You Don’t Even KNOW Britney Spears

Think you know Britney Spears? In an interview with Pop Justice , the star says that you probably do not – and the real Britney Spears is a lot LESS interesting than what you likely imagine. She opens up about bedtime (10:30 p.m.), her gray hairs (or lack thereof) and what she’d be doing if she weren’t famous (“probably a teacher”) and more. When it comes to Britney the real person, as opposed to the pop star, Spears believes most people only know about “half” of what makes her who she is. “I can be pretty guarded with my personal life and I’ve learned that’s okay,” she says. “Your personal life is your personal life, and should stay private.” Keeping people guessing, she says, is part of her job. “Sometimes it’s our secrets that define us,” she says. It’s no secret Britney Spears has had a wild life. So what would she do if her boys – Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4 – pursued pop stardom? “I’d definitely keep an eye on them,” she says. “But if that’s what they really wanted to do then I’d let them go after it. I’d just be very protective.” “I wouldn’t want them to go into it feeling fearful, and also nobody can really prepare you for this and what you experience,” says the 29-year-old. “I’d just have to trust their instincts and help guide them.” Learning to trust her instincts was hard for her personally. “The biggest mistake I’ve ever made [was] to not trust my instincts,” she says. “It’s just about listening to your gut in different situations. I’ve learned to trust my instincts over the years but it definitely took time.” We’re glad she’s doing so much better these days. [Photo: WENN.com]
