Kanye West Dis By Cam’ron, Jim Jones Doesn’t Surprise Juelz Santana

Diplomats’ third member says he knew nothing of ‘Toast’ track before it was posted online. By Jayson Rodriguez Cam’ron Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage It would be a stretch to say that everyone is suddenly on Kanye West’s side following his 2010 MTV Video Music Awards performance . Former Roc-a-Fella labelmates Cam’ron and Jim Jones responded to West’s new track “Runaway” with a recording that takes shots at the Chicago superstar and Jay-Z. “And Kanye, you a sucka n—a, dissed Dame so my attitude is f— the n—a,” Cam spits on “Toast,” which was posted on Missinfo.tv on Wednesday. “F— with Jigga, how you gonna live with that/ Took the beat, now come get it back.” “You might take it the wrong way, that’s what people do,” Jones said. They gonna think we starting trouble, but we just viewing our opinions.” On Thursday, the other member of the recently reunited Diplomats , Juelz Santana, called in to Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex and said he knew nothing about the track before it arrived. “To be honest, I just heard the record like a fan, like everybody else,” Juelz told Flex. “I didn’t even know they did the record. Me and Cam and Jim, we been speaking, but they must have did that when they were just together in the studio. That’s what they do. I heard the record, I was on the Internet and thought, Wow. It shouldn’t surprise people. Especially [with] Cam, he’s always said how he felt about Jay-Z or Kanye. He’s never been a person that’s bitten his tongue.” In the past, Cam’ron and Jay-Z have traded barbs on wax. Cam appeared on J.R. Writer’s “Bird Call,” which featured former Roc-a-Fella co-CEO Dame Dash in the video. The pair have had differences since the Roc days when Dash attempted to appoint the Harlem MC into a VP position with the label, something that the Brooklyn lyricist disagreed with. (Dash also wanted to promote Beanie Sigel to VP, the idea being that both rappers, Beanie and Cam’ron, would oversee releases from their respective crews, State Property and Dipset.) Cam’ron has also taken umbrage at Kanye’s choosing Jay-Z over Dame Dash in the Roc split, since brash businessman Dash is the one who first took an interest in West as an artist. MTV News’ requests for comments by the parties involved were not returned as of press time. What do you think of Cam’ron and Jim Jones’ Kanye dis track? Sound off in the comments. Fabolous Talks Soulja Boy Twitter Drama

‘I know when I say things … people may take it out of context,’ Fab says on ‘RapFix Live.’ By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway Fabolous Photo: MTV News Fabolous’ Twitter followers know that the sharp-tongued MC is not afraid to hit hard with his tweets. Fab is known for typing much-re-tweeted missives and sparking popular trending topics that go in on everything from pop-culture starlets to the foibles of everyday life. And as a lyricist known for his witty punch lines, the trials of his fellow hip-hop stars are rarely exempt from the e-teasing. Recently, Fab and Soulja Boy got into some e-beef on the social-networking site after the Brooklyn rapper sent up the “Pretty Boy Swag” hitmaker’s alleged dalliance with hip-hop groupie Kat Stacks. After Stacks released a video suggesting Soulja Boy had a coke problem, Fab referenced the drama in a freestyle, Soulja shot back on Twitter, and the two were embroiled in a social-media flap that played out in front of their millions of followers. The rappers have since worked out their issues, and during his MTV News “RapFix Live” interview Thursday (September 16), Fab explained that he wanted to address Soulja’s supposed threats before the barbs got out of hand. “The only reason I really wanted to speak to him [was] because of the threats that was involved,” Fab said. “If you threaten me or someone threaten you, when you see them, you’re reacting off of the threat, probably. Then that could escalate into something else, which I really didn’t want, because Soulja Boy is 19, 20 years old and I’m grown. It’s nothing cool about that to me.” Fab, who said he “just was making light of [the Soulja Boy video] in a comedic way,” didn’t initially believe the young rapper was actually behind the viral vitriol. “I never threatened him, and for him to make threats, I wanted to see if this was [really him],” Fab said. “I wasn’t even sure if it was him at that point. I thought maybe somebody hacked his account. I just didn’t know of that Soulja Boy.” Fab said he eventually explained to Soulja that the comments weren’t personal; the Atlanta rapper was just a victim of pop-culture circumstance. “He was saying that he had heard certain things and people were telling [him], ‘Yo, Fab’s going at you.’ He had heard things before that I said and he thought … maybe for some reason that I didn’t like him,” Fab said. “When I spoke to him I [was like], ‘Personally, I don’t have nothin’ against you. It was more something of me just cracking jokes. If it happened to anybody, I would have been cracking jokes on them. It just happened to happen to you.’ ” Although Fab maintained he didn’t set out to personally upset anybody, he’s aware of the effect his high-profile jabs may have. “I know when I say things … as a grown man, people may take it out of context, and I have to deal with that accordingly.” What do you think of Fab’s comments about Soulja Boy? Fabolous Stops By MTV News’ ‘RapFix Live’!

Loso answers fans’ Twitter questions and (maybe) breaks down elements of his signature tending topics on Thursday. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Shaheem Reid Fabolous Photo: Jonathan Leibson/ WireImage Fabolous walks a fine line, maintaining his presence on the underground mixtape circuit and cultivating a mainstream persona with his album releases. His most recent project, There Is No Competition 2: The Grieving Music EP, stems from the similarly titled mixtape There Is No Competition 2: The Funeral Service. Both collections serve as a warm-up to Fab’s next album, Loso’s Way 2. According to the Def Jam rapper, if he had to choose another MC to take a turn on the mixtape scene, his choice would come down to two fellow New York lyricists. “A Nas mixtape would be crazy, a Hov one too,” he told MTV News. “We haven’t seen any of the icons do it [in a while]. I think somewhere, we need a place where Hov doesn’t have to talk corporate and Nas doesn’t have to get too deep on us. We need one of those. I just wanna hear Nas [rapping], ‘Splittin’ Phillies, sippin’ on Baileys with three Israelis.’ I don’t know if he’s still in that space,” Fab said, reciting one of the God MC’s memorable mixtape freestyles. “A lot of things have transpired since. And I wanna hear Hov talk his thing. He still talks his thing and Nas still talks his thing, but I wanna see them in their mixtape essence.” Fabolous will talk mixtapes and more on Thursday when he appears on MTV News’ “RapFix Live” live stream with Sway on MTV.com at 1 p.m. ET. So, wondering why Loso still releases mixtapes after all his success? Ready for the inside scoop on his next project? Want to ask Fabolous about his recent rift with Soulja Boy Tell’em ? Kanye West Announces Joint Album With Jay-Z

Chicago MC tweets about dropping a five-song record called Watch the Throne. By Mawuse Ziegbe Jay-Z and Kanye West Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage Last week, Kanye West tweeted that he’s planning to drop a new song every Friday until Christmas. On the first “G.O.O.D. Friday” (August 27), the lyricist announced he has some other new music coming down the pike: ‘Ye said he’s teaming up with Jay-Z to release a collabo album. “Me and jay bout to drop a 5 song album called Watch the Throne, ” West tweeted . A rep for West didn’t respond to MTV News’ request for comment by press time. The announcement comes on the heels of a Jay-Z-assisted remix of ‘Ye’s “Power” hitting the airwaves. After West announced in an August 11 interview that a revamp of the percussion-heavy track featuring Hov would arrive just two days later, the MC got to work on the collabo. “He definitely, definitely was focused,” producer Swizz Beatz told MTV News about ‘Ye’s hustle to finish the record, which also boasts vocals from John Legend. ” ‘Cause when he made that announcement, we didn’t have what we had. But you know when something feels right and it’s time to let something to go.” Jigga and ‘Ye’s professional relationship goes back years to when the then-upstart producer furnished the Brooklyn MC with hit tracks like 2001’s “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” before eventually signing to his Roc-A-Fella label. Now, both artists are regarded as two of the most high-profile and respected lyricists in the game. “Jay-Z, Kanye West and Drake,” Miami Heat baller Chris Bosh said when pressed by MTV News about his hip-hop dream team. “Easy! Well, just the fact of Jay-Z’s longevity. And he can really rap. Some of his stuff from ’01 and The Blueprint is stuff I’m just now getting. Like, ‘Ohhhh, that’s what he meant. OK, I get that line.’ He was so far ahead in what he rapped about and what he did. I’m just now catching up. Kanye is super creative in what he can do with the beat machine. And his words, he’s more a passionate type of guy.” Are you excited for a Jay-Z and Kanye West album? Let us know in the comments below! Related Artists Kanye West Jay-Z

Jay-Z Endorsing Limited-Run Line Of Yankee Memorabilia

Merchandise will include T-shirts, baseball caps and more to coincide with Yankee Stadium shows with Eminem next month. By Jayson Rodriguez Jay-Z Photo: Nick Laham/ Getty Images If Jay-Z made the Yankee hat more famous than the Yankees did like he claims in “Empire State of Mind,” now the rapper has the chance to prove it. He’s partnered with the championship baseball team to produce a limited run of Jay-Z-endorsed memorabilia, from T-shirts to sweatshirts to fitted caps, to coincide with his and Eminem’s performances at Yankee Stadium next month. The shows are scheduled for September 13 and 14 in the Bronx; the pair will also perform September 3 and 4 at Detroit’s Comerica Park. The co-branded merchandise goes on sale beginning August 30 at Yankee Stadium and will be on sale until September 14. Eminem spoke to Billboard.com on Friday (August 27) about the joint performances and said there won’t be any one-upmanship going on between himself and Jay-Z. (Sorry Tigers fans, sounds like there won’t be any Eminem/Detroit memorabilia available.) “Nah, I don’t think it’ll be anything like a competition,” Eminem said. “For the most part, me and Jay just want people to come out and have a good time. We want them to enjoy the music.” The Detroit MC was reserved when pressed for details regarding the event. He wouldn’t confirm set lists, guest appearances or whether he and Jay-Z would take the stage together at the same time. The pair collaborated once in the past on Jay-Z’s “Renegade,” which Eminem produced for the Brooklyn rapper’s The Blueprint album. “I don’t want to get into it too much,” Eminem said. “I don’t want to give anything away. But … I think it’ll be good. “Hopefully it’ll be songs that everyone is familiar with,” he added. Foxy Brown Testifies Before Grand Jury

‘It feels so good to tell the truth,’ Brooklyn MC says after giving testimony related to her July arrest. By Jayson Rodriguez Foxy Brown Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Foxy Brown testified before a grand jury on Wednesday about charges stemming from her arrest last month in Brooklyn over an argument with a neighbor. Foxy has a history of feuding with the neighbor, Arlene Raymond, dating back to 2007. According to the New York Daily News, Foxy was interviewed for three hours about the incident. In July, the Brooklyn femcee was arrested after a dispute with Raymond. The rapper reportedly had to be restrained from the woman; a police report also suggested Foxy flashed the neighbor with her backside. No decision was made after Wednesday’s testimony, but Brown could be slapped with a felony charge for violating a restraining order Raymond obtained after her initial spat with Foxy three years ago. Foxy spoke to MTV News after her first court appearance late last month and firmly denied the allegations. “I was on my way to rehearsal with my band and I was leaving my mom’s house in Park Slope, [Brooklyn], where I always go; that’s the home that I was born in,” she said. “And the police came and they saw the situation and there wasn’t any conflict or discord — they were really baffled. But a supervisor came and saw the [potential for] publicity. If my name was Keisha Brown and not Foxy Brown, I would have been let go.” After she exited the Brooklyn court house Wednesday, Foxy told members of the media gathered outside that she hopes the actual account of the incident will be heard. “It feels so good to tell the truth,” she said. “This thing has been such a nightmare.” Do you think Foxy can finally put her legal troubles behind her?
