‘Dancing With The Stars’ Latin Night Belongs To William Levy

Latin soap star compared to James Bond after Argentine tango Monday. By Kelley L. Carter Cheryl Burke and William Levy on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC With Monday as Latin night on ABC’s reality hit show “Dancing With the Stars,” it should have been Latin soap star William Levy’s week, right? It was. As the actor and his pro partner Cheryl Burke took on the Argentine tango, Levy played every bit the part of a Latin lover with dance skills, wearing an unbuttoned tuxedo shirt. The judges thought he hit all the right marks — and with a twisted ankle to boot. Carrie Ann Inaba said the actor looked like a “Latin-dancing James Bond.” 29/30 Here’s how everyone else fared: Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas Tying Levy at the top was opera singer Jenkins, who also danced the Argentine tango. The judges thought she was perfection and gave her one point shy of a perfect score for her efforts. Head judge Len Goodman said, “This, for me, was like a rose: It had beauty … but underneath was sharp.” 29/30 Maria Menounos and Derek Hough The TV journalist salsa’d her way to a great performance. The judges told her their dance was passionate, hot and had just the right amount of spice. The pair’s routine ended with a hot kiss on the lips. “I don’t think you needed the kiss! The salsa is all about the illusion of passion. Don’t go at it right in front of us,” Inaba said. 27/30 Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd The NFL hot shot danced the Argentine tango, and the judges praised him for his control and execution. Judge Bruno Tonioli said he did a “fantastic job.” 27/30 Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower The Disney star pulled off a routine that wasn’t exactly G-rated. But he kept it clean. Goodman told him he moved like “a young guy with his first car.” Inaba joked that he was “sexy in a Disney way.” 26/30 Jaleel White and Kym Johnson The childhood TV star danced the samba and bared a pretty impressive six-pack in the process. The judges were impressed by his moves, with Goodman telling him, “Your bum was going like you were chewing toffee.” 24/30 Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus The soul legend shook her stuff to the samba, and even though the judges were lukewarm on it, they still praised her. Tonioli told her she was magic, while Goodman said her moves were “simple, but effective.” 22/30 Melissa Gilbert and Maks Chmerkovskiy Gilbert did the salsa — a tough feat considering she was injured last week. In her rehearsal segments, she danced around in a neck brace and hard hat. The judges liked her stick-to-itiveness, and Inaba told her it was wonderful to see her gain confidence. Tonioli said she lacked an element of control. “I saw excellent parts and parts that weren’t so good,” Goodman said. 21/30 Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff The pop singer rounded out the bottom. He said in his rehearsal segment that he hoped to continue relying on votes from his fans to keep him in the game. He danced the samba, and the judges weren’t too impressed with his moves. “I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,” Tonioli said before adding, “I actually enjoyed it.” The other judges said it was missing key elements. 19/30 What did you think of this week’s “Dancing With the Stars”? William Levy: Dancing With the Stars Favorite?

Who is William Levy? If you asked that heading into this season of Dancing With the Stars, you aren’t alone. But if he keeps this up, fewer and fewer people will be in the dark. The ballroom screaming for the Cuban soap star, a.k.a. The Brad Pitt of Cuba, is certainly an encouraging sign for his hopes of hoisting the Mirror Ball. His scores aren’t bad either. Rob Kardashian Makes Case For Dancing With the Stars Title

Talk about peaking at the right time. Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke have been improving for weeks and have built a nice Dancing With the Stars following, but last night – the final night of performances – marked the first time they finished atop the leaderboard . Rob’s waltz earned him a 9 out of 10 from each judge. His second routine, the freestyle, earned him all 10s and sole possession of the lead. Will that be enough to win him the Mirror Ball, or will J.R. Martinez or Ricki Lake overtake him? Watch Rob’s final two performances and vote in our poll below: Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Finals – Waltz) Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Finals – Freestyle) Who do you think will win Dancing With the Stars?

Rob Kardashian: Dancing With the Stars’ Dark Horse

Rob Kardashian is proving the Dancing With the Stars doubters wrong. He got a bad rap at the beginning of the season for being aloof and just doing the show because mom Kris Jenner made him. But he has improved dramatically. Kicking off Monday night’s episode with an awesome quickstep, Rob proved he’s a dark horse in the competition, an under-the-radar but serious contender. Watch the routine that earned Rob and Cheryl Burke all nines below: Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Week 8 – Quickstep) He finished with the fourth highest total out of five dancers, but Rob has a big cushion over Nancy Grace, so he should be in the clear on tonight’s results show. Beyond that, though, it may come down to Rob and Cheryl or Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Hope Solo for the final spot in the 13th season’s three-team finale. Rob scored a 24 on his second, instant jive dance. Watch it below: Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Week 8 – Jive)

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Rob Kardashian Steps It Up

Ricki Lake earns top score, but Rob and J.R. Martinez aren’t far behind. By Kelley L. Carter Cheryl Burke and Robert Kardashian Photo: ABC There wasn’t much scary on Monday night’s “Dancing With the Stars.” The reality competition show is down to the last six couples, and nearly everyone stepped up their game on the show’s Halloween show. Everyone dressed the part — some scary, some just plain old fun — and the judges seemed mostly pleased. Once again at the top of of the leaderboard were Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, who earned three 9’s from the judges. The show also had the celebrities doing a group dance the judges also scored, which was added to their individual scores. David Arquette and Kym Johnson Arquette and his partner took on the cha-cha-cha dressed as a magician and a magician’s assistant, and the judges found the dance to be, well, magical. “Lots of tricks and lots of treats. You’ve turned yourself into a dancer here. You need a little bit more rhythm, but overall, well done,” said head judge Len Goodman. 24/30 J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff The war hero has been consistently impressing judges — and voters, apparently — with his dance moves. On Monday night, he took on the tango, and the judges for the most part thought the duo captured the tone of the piece and found the dance to be upbeat, precise and sharp. “Another very solid performance. This timing was so hard and you actually lost it a few times. You know it,” judge Bruno Tonioli said. 25/30 Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus Dressed as a devilish duo, the judges thought their routine was off this week. The big problem was the footwork, they said. “Well we have our good days and we have our not-so-good days. Last week was a good day, this week was not so good. I watched you, and you are having the time of your life, and I give you so much credit for that. But you sort of lost your choreography,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. 21/30 Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke The Kardashians took on the tango this week and hoped to make the judges rethink the relative low scores they gave him last week. In the audience to cheer him on was his sister Kourtney, her boyfriend Scott and their son, Mason. (Missing, of course, was his sister Kim Kardashian, who filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage with NBA player Kris Humphries.) As for the performance, the judges thought it was his best dance yet. “I thought you did a terrific job. Your footwork was good; it had the right amount of attack. … You did a terrific job. And this is a gruesome week, because we’ve got the team dance coming,” Goodman said. 25/30 Ricki Lake and Derek Hough The former talk-show hostess danced the paso doble (dressed as Little Red Riding Hood), and the judges said that in spite of her nursing an injury, they loved the shapes and twists that she made. “It was like a blizzard of passion and fear! Another incredible performance,” Tonioli said. 27/30 Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy The athlete danced the samba, and unlike past weeks, the judges thought that she coped well with what they considered to be a difficult dance. They liked the production and thought she danced as if her life depended on it. “There’s a newfound ease with you, and it’s beautiful to see,” Inaba said. 24/30 All the celebrities also danced a group dance — Team Tango and Team Paso Doble — and they got scored by the judges. Team Tango (Grace, Martinez and Arquette) danced to Rihanna’s “Disturbia,” and the judges thought they didn’t do as well when they danced individually as couples, but liked when they danced as a group. 23/30 Team Paso Doble (Lake, Kardashian and Solo) fared much better. They danced to Evanescence’s “Wake Me Up Inside,” and the judges thought it was powerful, moody and dramatic. 26/30 Who had your favorite dance Monday? Let us know in the comments!

Rob Kardashian Has Kim’s Back, Tangos Into Second Place on DWTS

Rob Kardashian danced up a storm on Dancing With the Stars last night. It was a breath of fresh air for his family and all they’re going through. While sister Kim Kardashian was making a dash for the airport amidst her divorce filing , Rob made it clear that he and the whole family are behind her no matter what. “My sister is obviously going through a lot and we’re obviously very supportive of whatever decision she makes. We’re here for her, to be on her side for whatever.” His Halloween-themed routine offered Kim plenty to smile about: Rob Kardashian on Dancing With the Stars (Week 7) Rob praised his partner Cheryl Burke and the designers, saying the costumes, hair and makeup were so good that the show “deserves an Emmy” for the episode. We’ll see about that, but his oldest sister Kourtney Kardashian , her baby’s father Scott Disick, and their cutie son Mason seemed to approve from the audience.

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Chynna Phillips Can’t Hold On

Wilson Phillips singer joined in the bottom by reality star Rob Kardashian. By Kelley L. Carter Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani Photo: ABC On Tuesday night’s (October 11) “Dancing With the Stars,” the final two couples came down to Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke and Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani. Although she was a high-scorer early in the competition, it was the Wilson Phillips singer’s name called to head home. During Monday’s performance show, Phillips blanked and forgot her routine, and the judges — although they were fans of her work in weeks prior — had to score her lower because of it. It was movie theme week, and Phillips and Dovolani did the tango to the “Mission Impossible” song. The judges noted the mistakes Phillips made in her routine, but they were merciful in their comments, saying what she did right was beautiful and that she didn’t lose her composure. “The challenge is for the professionals,” head judge Len Goodman said after the botched routine. “They’ve got to maintain the character of the dance but still show us a little bit of the flavor of the film. I thought you got it just about right. You lost it, you went wrong, you didn’t know where you were and you panicked. I’m sure had you nailed it, it was going to be great. Unfortunately, there were a lot of mistakes.” Once her name was called, Phillips didn’t appear too shocked, considering her mistakes. “I’m disappointed, I’m sad, but I have to take responsibility. I messed up,” she said. “I have an amazing partner. I love you, Tony. You’re amazing. He’s been there for me 100 percent the entire way. I’m really grateful to have been on the show. Thank you for everyone who voted for me.” Dovolani said he tried to save his partner once he noticed she was blanking. Still, he reiterated that he was proud of her. “The first thing that crossed my mind was to try to take care of her,” he said. “It’s a live show; things happen. She finished the routine.” Were you sad to see Chynna go? Let us know in the comments.
