What a tragic story. Boy Accidentally Shoots And Kills His Sister As sad as this accident is, it could have been prevented had the children been properly supervised. According NBC Philadelphia: Police say a 2-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 11-year-old sister in their Mantua home while their mother was just down the hall in the bathroom. Investigators say 11-year-old Jamara Stevens was killed when she and her three siblings, a 14-year-old boy, 7-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy, were playing with a .357 caliber handgun with an 8-inch barrel in their home on the 3800 block of Wallace Street just before 10 a.m. Saturday. Tiffany Goldwire and her four children were in her bedroom, when she went to use the bathroom, according to police. At that point, the kids located the loaded firearm, which was left on top of the refrigerator by the mother’s boyfriend who visited the home earlier that morning, and the eldest child retrieved it, according to reports. While playing with the weapon, the 2-year-old boy pointed the loaded, cocked gun in the direction of his 11-year-old sister and it discharged, striking her in the arm, according to authorities. Investigators say the bullet then traveled through her chest, hitting her heart. The girl was taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she was pronounced dead at 10:20 a.m. The surviving children and Goldwire were taken to police headquarters, where the mother was questioned for nearly five hours, according to reports. Justin Bieber is a punk who gets arrested and sued every week, and Chris Brown beat Rihanna into a coma, yet they have more fans than she. Paltrow, who announced her conscious uncoupling from Chris Martin last week, was swiftly mocked for her seemingly new-agey, elitist take on divorce. Now, she’s raising more eyebrows and inspiring even more ridicule thanks to an interview with E! in which she laments her struggles as a working mom. “It’s much harder for me. I feel like I set it up in a way that makes it difficult because … for me, like if I miss a school run, they are like, ‘Where were you?’” she says. “I think it’s different when you have an office job, because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening.” “When you’re shooting a movie, they’re like, ‘We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,’ and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult.” “I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set,” Gwyneth went on, without irony. Yeah. Suffice it to say, people already disinclined to like Paltrow are up in arms over complaints about her having to earn $20 million to shoot one movie a year. The backlash was pretty universal in regards to Gwyneth being rude, close-minded, aloof, out of touch with reality … however you want to phrase it. Gwyneth faces real parenting challenges and is allowed to voice those, but … is she honestly implying that “traditional” working moms have it easier? He’s a little boy not a Golden Retriever! Couple Arrested For Locking Child In Dog Cage For Several Hours A Day SMH. According to Tulsa World: A Chelsea couple were arrested on allegations that they locked a 4-year-old boy in a dog cage for several hours a day and abused and neglected two other children. Suzanne Satterfield, 33, was booked into the Rogers County Jail on Tuesday on complaints of child abuse by injury and child neglect. Johnathon Wade Lee, 31, was jailed on a child abuse by injury complaint, records show. Authorities were contacted Oct. 13 after a Department of Human Services social worker visited the couple’s home and found Satterfield’s 4-year-old son locked in a small dog cage, records show. During an interview, Lee claimed that he and Satterfield decided to keep the boy in the cage to prevent him from harming himself and on occasions when he needed to be disciplined, the affidavit says. The pair estimated that the boy was in the cage as long as 14 hours a day, the affidavit states. Satterfield told authorities that “it was a big mistake” and that they “went too far.” Satterfield is jailed with bail set at $100,000. Lee is jailed with bail set at $50,000. A federal judge Friday struck down Michigan’s ban on gay marriage. As such, the state becomes the 18th in the nation to allow gays and lesbians to join in legal matrimony just like their heterosexual counterparts. Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette immediately filed for an emergency request for a stay of the ruling in the late afternoon Friday. Schuette said that “Michigan voters enshrined that decision in our state constitution, and their will should stand and be respected.” “In 2004 the citizens of Michigan recognized that diversity in parenting is best for kids and families because moms and dads are not interchangeable.” It’s unclear if that stay will be granted. In his 31-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman heavily criticized the state’s position that the will of the voters should have been upheld. “In attempting to define this case as a challenge to ‘the will of the people,’ state defendants lost sight of what this case is truly about: people,” Friedman wrote . “No court record of this proceeding could ever fully convey the personal sacrifice of these two plaintiffs,” the judge went on. “[They] seek to ensure that the state may no longer impair the rights of their children and the thousands of others now being raised by same-sex couples.” Two Hazel Park, Mich., nurses, April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse, filed their lawsuit in January 2012, saying Michigan has no rational basis for denying them the right. The women have been partners for eight years. “It’s just amazing,” said DeBoer, who wiped away tears and hugged Rowse after learning of Friedman’s ruling. “This is what we’ve wanted for our family and families like ours.” “We got our day in court, and we won.” Friedman did not follow the trend of other federal judges handling similar cases across the country because he did not stay his ruling pending appeal. Unlike most federal judges who have taken up the gay-marriage issue, Friedman opted last fall to hold a trial and give both sides a chance to present their arguments. Friedman’s ruling came two weeks after the trial.

So sad. Man Kills Girlfriend Then Himself In Murder Suicide How tragic that she was shot by the man who was supposed to love and cherish her. According to KMBC: Friends and loved ones of a North Kansas City couple killed in a murder-suicide remember their loved ones. Jason Crabtree, 33, was a second-grade teacher at Gracemor Elementary School. A representative from the district said he was loved and admired by students and staff alike. Police said Crabtree shot his girlfriend, Jamie Newkirk, 27, before taking his own life. Their bodies were found in a crashed SUV near College Boulevard and Mastin Avenue in Overland Park, Kan., early Sunday. Newkirk was a manager at Nordstrom at Oak Park Mall and attended college at Kansas State with dreams of a career in fashion. Overland Park police said they’re still trying to sort out what may have led Crabtree to take the actions he did. “He did seem, you know, very well alert to the children, you know, and paid attention to their needs and everything that was going on,” said Chris Toner, a parent of a student at Gracemor Elementary School. “For things to get to that point, somebody, somewhere in his life must have known that something was wrong.” Gracemor Elementary is on spring break this week.
