The Show Must Go On

Life has definitely been a rollercoaster for Ronan Keating . Just days after being kicked out of the family home…the Irish singer got back on stage at a gig in Switzerland over the weekend. This was the first live performance for the Boyzone star since announcing the break-up between he and his wife Yvonne after 12 years of marriage. Despite his troubled personal life, Ronan was forced to perform at the concert because of contractual issues and apparently told pals it was the hardest thing he ever had to do knowing the mess he’d left behind.

Super Junior in Singapore 2010

Fans from Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia turned up to show their support for Super Junior. Tickets were sold out in just a week! Some of the die-hard ELFs were camping outside the venue the night before. I could feel the adrenaline rush as the doors opened at 6pm. ELFs began chanting “Super Junior!” as the members walked through the entrance door. IT was splendid! That’s the perfect word to describe the concert held on March 20, at Bukit Jalil Putra Indoor Stadium. Korean boy-ban

Drake Reps H-Town ‘Till The Day I Die’ On Away From Home Tour

The Toronto MC brings out Houston rap luminaries Bun B, Lil Keke, Trae Tha Truth and others. By Cynithia Allen Drake (file) Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Drake did the Texas two-step this week, bringing his Away From Home Tour to Dallas on Wednesday, and the next day, to Houston, where he closed out his initial run of U.S. dates. The 23-year-old Toronto MC’s show was highly anticipated in H-Town, a city Drake gave props to on “November 18th,” off the Chopped N Screwed version of his So Far Gone mixtape. He opened Thursday night’s show at Houston’s Verizon Wireless Theater with his club banger “Over,” whipping the crowd into a frenzy. Drizzy told his fans that “only three things matter at this time: Number one, I’m Drizzy Drake. Two, I’m part of the hottest team in the game right now — Young Money/ Cash Money. Finally, I rep H-Town till the day I die.” The Grammy-nominated artist showed his respect for the City of Syrup with a performance of the aforementioned “November 18th,” which true Houstonians know was inspired by the Screwed Up Clique’s late-90s posse cut “June 18.” One of the Clique’s original members, Lil Keke, was on hand to deliver his verse from the ensemble track. And the Houston rap scene was amply represented at the concert: In addition to Keke, Drake brought out Houston luminaries Z-Ro, Trae Tha Truth and the Underground King himself, the timeless Bun B. Cash Money’s Birdman, who has made appearances on several dates of the tour, came through for “Money to Blow,” and then performed the Big Tymers hit “Still Fly.” The theater seemed to shake to the rafters as the excited crowd began reciting lyrics — “Gator boots with the pimped-out Gucci shoes.” The stage was then turned over to Young Money members Gudda Gudda and Lil Twist, who came out to assist on “Bed Rock.” The show continued with the lovemaking theme on “A Night Off,” which saw Drake bring out a microphone whose stand was covered in female undergarments. The ladies went berserk, throwing bras and panties at the dynamic MC, a practice that has become a ritual at every Away From Home show. In an interview Drake gave to CNN , he said he was attempting to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the most bras thrown at a performer during a single show. When Drake chose a 27-year-old Houston fan to join him onstage, he warned her that anything could happen, including licking, sucking or kissing. No one seemed to be left disappointed at this show. And while he may not have been given the key to the City of Syrup, Drake proved he already has the town on lock. Are you planning to see Drake in Concert now that he’s added more dates to his tour? Lee Dewyze Supporters Psyched For His Homecoming After Making ‘Idol’ Top Three

Friends, teachers and fans gathered to root Dewyze on in his Illinois hometown Wednesday night. By Gil Kaufman Lee Dewyze fans Photo: Gil Kaufman/ MTV News MT. PROSPECT, Illinois — It’s not that Lee Dewyze’s supporters are feeling cocky, but when they — from his high school principal to the drummer in his band to his old boss at Mt. Prospect Paint — were asked if they’re planning to go to his homecoming parade and rally on Friday, the answer was a resounding, triumphant, “Yes!” And that was days, and hours, before Dewyze got the news on Wednesday night that he would be coming home after making it into the “Idol” top three. When the verdict was finally read, the crowd of 100-plus supporters at the Blues Bar in Mt. Prospect erupted into joyous clapping, shouting, whistles and hugs as they all scrambled to figure out who they needed to call in order to get tickets to Friday night’s big event. “My heart is pounding a hundred miles a minute,” said a teary-eyed Karen Kinnare, who could hardly contain her pride at Dewyze’s success. Her husband, a local general contractor, used to buy paint from Dewyze when the guitar slinger was but a humble paint salesman. And though he’d never seen “Idol” before, when Kinnare was watching auditions earlier this year, her husband came in and yelled, “Hey, that’s my paint guy!” Like just about everywhere MTV News went this week in the area, there were plenty of other people at the bar who knew Lee or his family or who had seen him play at the countless clubs in the area. They packed Blues Bar wearing their bright green “Vote 4 Lee” shirts and pins, waiting breathlessly for host Ryan Seacrest to spill the big news. As they killed time in the Blues Brothers-themed bar, they could buy Lee shirts and buttons — including one that referenced his days as a paint salesman that read “Lee Dewyze Shook My Cans” — as well as copies of his two independently released CDs and delicious homemade cookies imprinted with the “Idol” logo and the plea “Vote for Lee!” from the Central Continental Bakery, which is located just across the street. Bakery owner Marilyn Czerniak said she’s sold more than 5,000 cookies to fans across the country over the past few weeks and proudly showed off a signed photo of Lee holding one of the confections that his mother had brought out to Los Angeles for him. Matt Mika, 25, has known Lee for a while, and like a lot of people in the area, he also had a great story about the “Idol” star’s formative musical years. “The first guitar I’ve ever seen him play was my brother’s guitar in my basement, and that was really one of the first nights he ever played guitar,” said Mika of Dewyze, who didn’t pick up the instrument until he was old enough to drive. “I think he’s going to move on. I don’t think he’s going to have any trouble.” Mika’s friend, mowhawked Mike Musich, 24, who went to high school with Lee, said he was also feeling good about things just before the show kicked off. “Tonight I think it’s going to be the same as usual. I think Lee’s going to coast on through and come home and give us a good show on Friday,” said Musich. Once word broke that Dewyze had made the cut, both men were ecstatic and eager to see their old friend and bask in the glory of his newfound fame. “We’ll be lucky to get two minutes with him,” Mika laughed. Just moments after Dewyze made the cut, Tara Battaglia, 18, was already planning on ditching school on Friday to attend the parade. “I was screaming ‘oh my God,’ I was so excited,” said the teen, who was wearing her bright green “Vote 4 Lee” shirt. “I’m probably not going to go to school on Friday. I’m definitely going to follow him around, go to the Cubs game, watch him throw the first pitch, go to the parade, go to the concert. … I knew he was going to make it.” Her sister, Deanna, 19, was equally excited, but admitted that she got nervous when Seacrest was chatting up the other contestants first. “I was biting my nails, I was so nervous,” she said. “And when they said his name, I screamed and almost fell off my chair.” Earlier in the day, Dr. Patricia Tedaldi-Monti, dean of students at Prospect High School, where Dewyze attended high school before transferring to an alternative school during his senior year, said Lee promised her he’d make it big someday. Surrounded by a variety of Lee-shirts in her office, Tedaldi-Monti recalled the day when the shy teenager who was always tapping out a beat on his desk or leg and playing an imaginary guitar came into her office and told her, “I’m going to be a rock star. “And you [and my other teachers] are going to be in the front row, and I’m going to be playing a really big concert.” She laughed, recalling that she told him, “Well stay in touch, because I’d like to see that really big concert.” And though she counseled him to keep reaching for his dreams while planning for a backup, Lee’s promise is now coming true. “And so, it is going to happen,” she said proudly. “He’s a rock star.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Usher, Drake And Nicki Minaj To Play New York’s Summer Jam

Ludacris, Trey Songz and a now-incarcerated Gucci Mane also on the lineup for Hot 97 concert. By Shaheem Reid Usher Photo: Mike Coppola/FilmMagic New York radio station Hot 97 announced the lineup for the annual mega show Summer Jam on Monday afternoon (May 3). The event takes place June 6 at the new Meadowlands Stadium, with Usher headlining a lineup that includes Drake, Nicki Minaj, DJ Khaled and Ludacris. Trey Songz, Juelz Santana, Fabolous and Reflection Eternal fill out the roster, with Gucci Mane — who is due to be released from jail soon — rounding out the bill. New York’s Summer Jam Lineup For headliner Usher, the top spot at the show is another feather in his cap for what is proving to be a stellar year, which has already included a #1 album . “This album means so much to my career,” Usher recently said told MTV News about Raymond v. Raymond. “I think this is the one time where I’m able to put it all in, emotionally and the good times — super-freaky and then also super-emotional. Raymond v. Raymond, artistically, is one of my greatest pieces of work, not only just because of the content, but also the people whom I got involved in it: T.I., Will.I.Am, Puff, Nicki Minaj.” The album also features “She Don’t Know,” a track with Ludacris, who collaborated on one of Usher’s biggest hits, 2004’s “Yeah!” And the video for the Will I. Am. collaboration “OMG” recently hit the Internet. The clip is all performance as Usher brings his dance moves to the forefront. “A lot of people may have felt like I lost my swagger,” Usher said. “Let me tell you something: I play long-balls, so now we back. This one is it: Raymond v. Raymond !” As always, you can expect some of the performers to bring out surprise guests — it’s a Summer Jam tradition. Some of the biggest names in the game have come out unadvertised for the concert. Just last year, Jay-Z set off his Blueprint 3 campaign by performing “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” as a special guest of Young Jeezy’s. In 2001, it was Jay-Z pulling a trump card, bringing out Michael Jackson . What surprise guests do you want to see pop up at Summer Jam?
