Lady Gaga: NOT Engaged to Taylor Kinney (or Anyone Else For That Matter)

Relax, 24 million monsters. It’s just a joke. Despite a picture posted to photographer friend Terry Richardson’s blog with the caption “showing off her new engagement ring,” Lady Gaga is single. One can see how confusion might arise, but rest assured, our girl is really not engaged to recent ex Taylor Kinney or anyone else for that matter. Richardson, whose job is apparently to produce viral content like Lindsay Lohan pics or the Kate Upton “Cat Daddy” video, posted the photo on Sunday. The two have been collaborating on a new book of Lady Gaga photos, which is how this image – of her showing off a massive diamond ring – came to be. Gaga and Kinney ( The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire ) had been dating for the better part of a year, but reportedly broke up for good a few weeks back. Friday, Richardson also posted a photo of Gaga wearing nothing but black tape on one of her nipples. Check it out in our gallery of Lady Gaga pics !

Mark Zuckerberg Targets Facebook Mobile Growth

Controversy over Mark Zuckerberg’s hoodie abated Friday as he turned investors’ attention to more important matters at a presentation in Palo Alto, Calif. Chief among them? Improving Facebook’s mobile application . About 200 investors showed up at an IPO presentation to quiz Zuckerberg about generating revenue from mobile users, crucial for long-term fiscal growth. Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO, said overall advertising is gaining steam, with most marketers increasing their spending with Facebook. The executives, who appeared on stage alongside CFO David Ebersman, highlighted social ads as an important tool for Facebook to tackle mobile challenges. The ads, incorporating information about Facebook users’ friends who “like” certain products, are better-suited to the smaller screens of smartphones. More than half of Facebook’s users currently use it from phones. As Facebook collects more information about its users, such as location data, Facebook will be able to offer more relevant mobile ads, executives said. Facebook aims to raise about $10.6 billion via its initial public offering, dwarfing Google’s recent IPO and giving it a market value around $96 billion. The Facebook IPO marks a watershed moment for the new generation of startups that are challenging established players such as Google and Yahoo. Consumers’ online time – and advertising dollars – are very much the future. With 900 million users, Facebook is the world’s dominant social network. Zuckerberg, the 28-year-old CEO, was Time Magazine ‘s Person of the Year in 2010 and was depicted in the fictionalized 2010 movie The Social Network .

Barack Obama: The First Gay President!

In the mid-90s, author Toni Morrison famously referred to Bill Clinton as “the first black President” based on his empathy, efforts to foster broad socioeconomic equality and commitment to issues important to African-American community at large. Newsweek plays off this quote in its new cover story on President Barack Obama. Following Obama’s public support of same-sex marriage , he has been dubbed The First Gay President … in a manner of speaking of course: While Obama’s statement was groundbreaking and bold, will his “coming out” on behalf of gay marriage even make a different in November’s election? “If you were going to cast your vote based on a candidate’s position regarding same-sex marriage, you were already going to vote for Obama [or] Romney based on that,” Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank said on ABC’s This Week . “I literally don’t think anybody’s vote was changed one way or the other.” In any case, Obama’s end to “evolving” on gay marriage will continue to generate critical comment, and not all of it positive, even from the left. “His embrace of gay marriage was not a profile in courage,” New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote, taking issue with adulation shown toward the President (such as on the cover above) more than anything. “Even when he does the right thing, by the time he does it and in the way he does it, he drains away excitement and robs himself of the admiration he would otherwise be due … Why doesn’t he just do the exhilarating thing immediately?” “Why does he have to be dragged kicking and screaming to principle?” With Obama’s face pictured looking skyward and a rainbow-colored halo above his head, the controversial cover leads to a story written by openly gay writer Andrew Sullivan, a self-described political conservative. The boundary-pushing May 21 Newsweek issue featuring Obama, available Monday, comes after Time magazine’s breastfeeding cover last week, which featured an attractive 26-year-old mother nursing her toddler son. The cover sparked strong reactions across the world last week and led a Newsweek spokesperson to tell the New York Post that the magazine’s editor Tina Brown had viewed the cover as a challenge. “When Tina saw the Time cover, she laughed and said, ‘Let the games begin,'” the spokesperson told the Post . Game on.

TIME Magazine’s Breastfeeding Cover Mom Says She’ll Take Her Toddler Off Her Tata Sometime This Year…

Considering he turns 4 next month, don’t you think it’s about TIME ? The young mom who sparked a media storm breastfeeding her 3-year-old son on the cover of Time magazine is opening up about the controversial photo. Jamie Lynne Grumet, 26, appeared on NBC’s “Today” show on Friday to discuss the cover, which shows her casually nursing her toddler Aram, who stares straight into the camera while he stands on a wooden chair. “I do understand why Time chose this picture, because it did create such a media craze … to get the dialogue talking,” Grumet said. The ensuing controversy focused on attachment parenting – the topic of Time’s cover story – particularly extended breastfeeding. Grumet explains that she was breastfed until she was 6-years-old and cites it as the reason she and her mother have a close bond. Dr. Bill Sears, who developed the attachment parenting theory, also appeared on “Today” with Grumet. While both are advocates of the controversial parenting technique – which also includes co-sleeping, or letting children sleep in their parent’s beds – Grumet admits it’s not for everyone. “You need to do what’s best for your own baby and your family,” she says. And not all of the criticism is coming from people against attachment parenting, Grumet notes. “I understand some of the breast-feeding advocates are actually upset about this,” she said on “Today.” Mommyish.com blogger Shawna Cohen, who says she practices some attachment parenting principles, wrote that she was disappointed in the Time cover. “It angers me because it portrays AP moms as being totally extreme,” she wrote in a blog post. “And in most cases, that couldn’t be further from the truth.” Even celebrities chimed in – including new mom Alyssa Milano. “Time, no! You missed the mark!” the actress wrote on Twitter. “You’re supposed to be making it easier for breastfeeding moms. Your cover is exploitative and extreme.” Grumet explains that the cover didn’t adequately demonstrate the nurturing side of attachment parenting. “This isn’t how we breastfeed at home,” she says. “It’s more of a cradling, nurturing situation.” Grumet, who has one other 5-year-old son, says she hopes to stop breastfeeding Aram, who turns 4 next month, sometime in the next year. Clearly TIME knew what they were doing with the controversial cover. And can you really blame them when subscriptions are probably in the dumps (believe us, they’ve been stalking us for a renewal). But we are happy to hear that three-year-old Aram isn’t really standing on a stool while he gnaws on his Mommy’s milk carriers. Since news of this cover came out, has it encouraged anyone to look more deeply into attachment parenting? Where do you weigh in on this issue? Source

Mitt Who? New Obama Ad Touts Accomplishments of First Term

If political pundits think President Obama’s only strategy to win a second term would be to carpet bomb Mitt Romney with negative ads, he didn’t get the memo. Romney has but one brief, silent cameo in the Obama campaign’s new seven-minute ad, touting the controversial administration’s record over the past three years. The ad does go out of its way to portray Republican leaders, in general, as obstructionist extremists who would rather play political games than help Americans. For the most part, though, the ad, entitled “Forward,” hits home the fact that Obama inherited “once-in-a-century type” recession and still accomplished a ton. Pure spin? Pure facts? In between? Take a look at it below and see: Obama 2012 Ad – Forward

The Side-Eye: Shaunie O’Neal Releases “Basketball Wives” Statement Regarding Recent Ratchetness On The Show

She shoots… She spins… But does she score? Shaunie O’Neal Releases Statement Regarding Negative Depictions Of Black Women On “Basketball Wives” With the African-American community chomping at the bit over the negative depictions (fighting, lawsuits , mockery of monogamy) of Black women on “Basketball Wives” Shaunie O’Neal just had to say something… Via VIBE : As the executive producer of the controversial reality show Basketball Wives, Shaunie O’Neal released an exclusive statement on some of the unladylike behavior that has consumed recent episodes. Since the drama on the popular VH1 show has reached new levels (Jennifer Williams is suing Nia Crooks, Evelyn Lozada’s assistant, for assault), the BBW head expressed her personal thoughts on the matter. “I’m extremely happy that Basketball Wives continues to have another successful fourth season. As the ratings have been through the roof since our season opener, fans continue to tune into the lives of Evelyn, Tami, Jennifer, Royce, Suzie and myself. As there is always controversy and indifference projected on the show, because we are all individual personalities, I always hope that people will find that as much as you may agree or disagree with the opinions, the behavior, [and] even our different taste in shoes, you are taking a look inside the lives of four complete different women. I will never say I agree with some of the behavior between my girlfriends on the show, but if we were to edit certain things out the show would be scripted and not reality. As a woman of color with kids, I am very aware of myself, but I also have to be aware that my choices cannot be the same for everyone on the show and I have to respect that. I hope the fans feel they see a balance and know we have always been real with our stories, even though it may not always be a positive portrayal of adult women but real women nonetheless. I look forward to developing other media platforms in the future and hope that fans will continue to support.” Unlike some of her friends and cast mates, she chooses not to eclipse her good character by becoming physically violent. O’Neal wants to maintain her role as an example to young women, especially as she is a mother and businesswoman. She continuously gives back to the community and was, most recently, spotted lending a hand at the Los Angeles Mission for their annual Easter day festivities. *cough* Bullisht!*cough* There Shaunie goes again talking about balance. We peeped her lil attempt to show her Mom of the Year behavior a couple episodes back with Mimi’s birthday party but other than that it’s been a bunch of cussing and slapping and wine bottle throwing. Shaunie, let’s keep it real boo boo (in our Evelyn voice) bird’s of a feather flock together. Y’all can’t be that different. More On Bossip! Bully Re-Edited, Re-Released as PG-13 Movie

The producers of Bully and the Motion Picture Association of America agreed on a unique compromise to re-release the controversial documentary film as PG-13. The Weinstein Co., in response to its initial R ratingby the MPAA, made the unusual move of releasing the film in limited release without a rating at all. That gave each individual theater owner the decision whether to show the film or not, and potentially limited the scope of its release – all on principle. Bully Trailer Bully’s producers appealed the R rating and lost earlier this year in a move that could’ve derailed its effort to highlight the epidemic of adolescent bullying. The new version of the film deletes some obscenities, but in an interesting move, keeps a controversial scene on a bus in which the ‘F-bomb’ is lobbed. Three times at a bullied child, in fact. This is a major exception to MPAA rules; the group typically imposes an R rating on any film with more than two.

Ellen DeGeneres Inserts Herself Into The Bachelor Drama

Ellen DeGeneres has – to quote Chris Treager from Parks & Recreation – litch-rally inserted herself into the ongoing reality TV cat-fight that is The Bachelor . In a funny new video, the talk show host splices actual footage from the Monday’s confrontational Women Tell All special and puts herself in the hot seat. Much like the controversial Courtney Robertson was in real life, Ellen finds herself on the defensive amid a barrage of allegations, name-calling and worse. Costumed like a stereotypical Bachelor girl, sporting sparkling earrings and an equally glittering jacket, she admits she was there for the wrong reasons. “I really did come here to make friends,” Ellen says. “I was not here for Ben. I mean, let’s face it, I was here for the girls.” Watch the hilariousness below: Ellen on ‘The Bachelor: The Women Tell All’
